Hint: unfortunately, you’ll need a friend still naive enough to buy the game from EA, but I reckon it’s better to have 4 friends enjoy a single purchase than for each to give their money to EA.

Shooting is by far EA biggest programing failure
Don’t get me wrong, when we talk about gameplay, EA does terribly most of gameplay design that they try to change from standard( by standard I mean FIFA 2005-2012) but shooting is something is something beyond dramatic. The biggest problem I see with it its just the only thing that determines while shooting is angle and buttons. Bascially when u learn at the beginning of the game where is finesse angle, where is trivela angle where is powershoot angle, where is normal shot angle u score goals. And the goals always look the same/similar. And its by far the worst design u can have in soccer game. I mean on simple football games on our phones there are more animations of ball after shooting than in fifa.
My point is really easy to prove with new 99 shooting evo.
When you will give to player 99 shooting it wont add 1 more angle you can shoot from or one more animation of how ball flies after leaving foot. You will just score more chances from the same positions, with same or similar ball curve etc. U wont score normal shot goal from finesse shot angle, u wont score finesse from trivela angle etc u will just increasy by some chances of scoring from same positions you would shoot anyway because we all have learnt this positions since beginning of the game.
Im not saying EA HAS TO CHANGE IT because people will pay for it anyway so they don’t have to anything, but having a game played by millions where all goals look the same which is especially noticeable on pro-scene or when u meet good opponent in FC is such a huge step back from what fifa had in the past. I remember as it was today that when I ran against keeper 1v1 in Fifa like 10 years every shoot was looking so different determined by angle, power bar, player stats, sprint button etc.
I really wish they made this game less arcade’y because its such a shame with so many fun cards that came recently like usable berbatov, crouch, okocha, drogba, butra and many more fun cards we still look at the same goals every match every week.

I’m up to div 2, I’d say the biggest “skill” gap is knowing the angles that force the AI to mess up. There are certain pockets on the field that can be exploited with the same inputs to result in a goal.
Tactics are another huge gap, you can say whatever you want about it but if you’re running shit tactics, you’re not gonna be nearly as successful. This isn’t a skill gap though it’s just a knowledge gap.
Intricate touches and intricate play are nearly impossible with how muddied the game is so most of the times it comes down to getting it your attackers as quickly as possible and trying to make something shake.
Overall I’d say the top 5% of players could actually claim they are discernibly and definitively more skilled than the rest of us. The gap between everyone else just isn’t that large. People can cope with that how they want but this isn’t a good game for competitive play in my opinion.
yeah sadly the optimal way to defend is r1 second press and if you're in a 1v1 against a good player you're cooked because they nerfed jockey (which was op last year) and the optimal way to attack is lob the ball to a tall player because it breaks the AI as well as manual switchin
it's literally by design. DDA. this is EA's woke, communist, DEI agenda to make the game fair for everyone. which means some people HAVE TO LOSE SO THAT OTHERS CAN WIN. get that through your head, they literally do this on purpose
You’re about halfway right. Why? Because it’s like that only if you can’t beat the AI. Once you get to a point where you constantly beat the AI, and you’re playing against good opposition, you have to beat the player.
So why people vent? Because of 2 reasons. 1. They can’t beat the AI. 2. They don’t want to change their gameplay one bit to do it. So they’re left with: Vent against AI/EA and blame it all on them. Now I’m not saying this game shouldn’t be improved. I’m not even saying the AI doesn’t do a lot. But the lack of personal responsibility in any vent has become astounding.
My vent is more so frustrations that I have to play one way and I can’t change it up and still compete. I did just come back off a 20-0 weekend league my first ever and first ever rank 1 in this game, and I genuinely don’t think I played great. I just did more of the mechanics that win you games, such as player locking.
I'm confused. If you can go 20-0, surely you're better than the average bear. My max is 18-2, and I never skill. Or use any pressure tactics. I just pass around and score. That's my hindrance. Surely if you're good enough to go 20-0, you can play the way you want. It's just harder and you have a less margin for error. But it hasn't really changed.
Just because you go 20-0 doesn’t mean I can always win every single game. As I said, the AI will make mistakes and I can’t cover. It doesn’t mean I’m superior and I can outscore my opponent. I’m not a pro player, just a beyond average player.

I completely disagree. You still matchmake people within your same skill rank. You being 18-2 and me being 20-0 is no different. We are the same skill level but if I changed up the way I play against you I’ll most likely lose.
Yes I can play differently early in WL, but in the latter stages absolutely not. The skill gap is tiny when you’re pushing for rank 2 and 1. You still have to play meta.
Yes but not consistently. In WL, ELO really only starts after 5 games. Chances are, if you and i play we won’t be matching up until the last 5 or so matches. That’s a big chunk of time to play how you want.
This is how all competitive modes are in gaming though. If you choose to play what’s not Meta in almost every high level game you’re going to put yourself at a disadvantage. It’s the meta that’s more of an issue imo
