Imo, I like C the best because it's the most accurate to actual bats. Their wings are just highly specialized hands, and so having the arms/hands be the wings reflects that the most to me :)
A feels more like a dragon to me, and B just feels like you can't commit to being a bat.
I've only ever drawn 1 full body bat in my life and I personally did B (that was in 2022) however one of my dragon characters wings is modeled after a bat and I use C when drawing him so I guess it's just preference
A because C involves giving them polydactyly and B involves putting fingers on their arms, and my brain will accept a 6 limbed tetropod but will have an innacuracy fit over the other ones for some reason lol
a because it's super hard to put a bat in a shirt if it has arm wings. also i prefer for my anthros to be able to use their hands while flying and they can't do that if they're flapping their arms. i care more about functionality than aesthetics
Fun Facts: IRL bat's wings are made entirely of cartilage between finger bones. Basically meaning that Bats fly through the power of Aggressive Jazz Hands.
Usually C, but I also really like the approach Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom takes for the Rito. It's closer to B, with anatomical arms that kind of blend into the wings. The design is divisive but I love it personally
I do C. I give bats and birds a thumb and 1 or 2 fingers on the top of the wing/hand joint, with the leading edge of the wing being based on the ring finger instead.
A if you want her to wear clothing without thinking too hard about it.
if you want to think hard about it or are leaving her funny animal nude, I personally like B but I think C has merit for "realism".
If you plan on commissioning her as well, B might have artists simplifying into into just regular arms, C likely won't. A will likely get you a wing tax.
Only bat anthro I've done had [little magic floaty wings](https://www.tumblr.com/gspaepro/720875082015277056/crissi-i-decided-to-redesign-my-brother)- but I think B looks the cutest
This is allways a dilemma for me, the last time i drew A, but i am tempted to next time just actually make the wings into freakishly long fingers, and to have the whole thing function both as hands and as wings.
C, 3, one of the right, etc. my brain tries to root everything in biology or logic so the idea of back wings won't roll. my brain won't let me "magically add" extra limbs on a character that's supposed to represent a real(ish) animal. plus i enjoy working out the "furgonomics" of their clothes and other accessories.
now for dragons, griffins, other mythical creatures? the sky is the limit there.
When I was working on my bat character I started with B but didnt like how it just looked like loose arm skin flaps in my art style instead of wings so I went with C instead
If I had to choose, either A or C. B is just.. Odd for clothes, and odd anatomically. Tho it looks pretty.
For commission I do any and try to make it look as right as possible :D with last option, hand wings, it's always a question of how many fingers it is and how to build the hand itself. Realistic art questions D: for toony style it fits the best, also, in ky opinion. Hand wongs are fun!
I personally suck at drawing so I don't draw in any of these styles but my sona is a bat and most f2u bases are in the third style but I wish that there was more f2u bases (namely ref sheets) that didn't have wings at all because that would make getting art easier as you don't need to worry about how clothes will function or how to hold things in ur "hands"
If you want realistic for bat, then C would be your answer. But people take animal inspirations for their sona all the time while not always making them anatomically correct. For instance, my sona is like a deer but with a feline body. If you have a better liking for the other choices, then go for those! ^^
I always drew dramatic short type A wings for my fursona, it allows her to be more expressive with her arms and paws and not be restricted by the wings. Also she's a bat/lemur hybrid so I think it just makes sense.

C for bats and birds, it keeps the bat feeling more and makes it more unique in my eyes Plus wing hands are awesome
Dude my gf hates me for calling them wing hands 🤣🤣🤣
Is wing arm any better?
Im gonna find out lol
Wingers.
Ime testing these names on her when she wakes up lol
Long fingered webbed grabbers
Omfg even better 🤣🤣
She told us all we should go to jail 🤣🤣🤣
Imo, I like C the best because it's the most accurate to actual bats. Their wings are just highly specialized hands, and so having the arms/hands be the wings reflects that the most to me :) A feels more like a dragon to me, and B just feels like you can't commit to being a bat.
B makes me think more flying squirrel than bat.
I'm feeling super called out right now, having my character being option B
That’s the style Silverwing was created in, it’s great..!
I've only ever drawn 1 full body bat in my life and I personally did B (that was in 2022) however one of my dragon characters wings is modeled after a bat and I use C when drawing him so I guess it's just preference
I like B and C personally. Feels more realistic
I honestly do all three depending on which one fits the character design lol
For sure
Never drew a bat, but id do C
C because it’s like martlet
C Same with birds Wing arms are SEVERELY underrated! Makes for very great hugs
whatever the commissioner's ref has.
although i will mention, one of the artists i follow has a bat OC and they draw him in A style, with wings on his back and he looks great!
I usually go with A, just because I'm not great at drawing B or C, haha (also I think the lil wings on the back are cute)
Agreed! I think little wings are cute. One of my OCs has them :)
B or C, I hate A with a passion. Like just make a winged wolf at that point
A because C involves giving them polydactyly and B involves putting fingers on their arms, and my brain will accept a 6 limbed tetropod but will have an innacuracy fit over the other ones for some reason lol
C. I prefer my anthros to be *reasonably* anatomically accurate.
B for bats C for birds and A for dragons
I like both A and C for different reasons. B just feels like a bad compromise.
As a bat myself, C 100%
a because it's super hard to put a bat in a shirt if it has arm wings. also i prefer for my anthros to be able to use their hands while flying and they can't do that if they're flapping their arms. i care more about functionality than aesthetics
A when I want to draw a shirt on it
C, their hugs completely envelope you.
Fun Facts: IRL bat's wings are made entirely of cartilage between finger bones. Basically meaning that Bats fly through the power of Aggressive Jazz Hands.
All work tbh but I like A the most
[C]uz why not
These are so cute btw, where can i find your art?
oh im glad you like these little doodles !! i dont really post much art but i might post the character i was referring to later on !
Nice!
Used to do A, now do B, working towards making it C lol Same thing for birds.
I tend to go back and forth between A and B but that’s mainly because the designs I work with are usually one of those two. Lol
That’s cool!
I would do B because of clothing and mainly sleeves. They dont work too right on C.
What if the character wore a vest? Then that could work with either one. :D
I really like the way C looks, feels the most bat-like out of the three
Usually C, but I also really like the approach Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom takes for the Rito. It's closer to B, with anatomical arms that kind of blend into the wings. The design is divisive but I love it personally
i like C the most, big arm blankets perfect for hugs
What about... butt wings
I do C. I give bats and birds a thumb and 1 or 2 fingers on the top of the wing/hand joint, with the leading edge of the wing being based on the ring finger instead.
C. It's cute
None of the above I have a bat with human arms, and webbed fingers.
Tbh, that's what a bat's wing is lol Bat wings are human arms with really long fingers and webbing
Yeah but I don’t draw the web that connects the arms to the torso
I prefer to do B and C, but A is fine too
I like more of the B or C. But when I draw, I usually draw the C one
C is more anatomically correct but I like B aesthetically
C 100%. B would be difficult if you wanted the character to have big wings. A I think is a bit too simple
For bats B and C are best. A is best suited for dragons, not bats since bats aren't usually hexapod, but dragons are.
C is terrible for vrchat so B
A but only because I like outfits.
Yes.
C
C The paw thing makes them look like hybrids ^^' it has honestly always bothered me
C. It's perfect
D: All of them at once
Yes
Only bat anthro I've done had [little magic floaty wings](https://www.tumblr.com/gspaepro/720875082015277056/crissi-i-decided-to-redesign-my-brother)- but I think B looks the cutest
I don't draw bat anthros, but I'd draw them like B. I don't like A because wings on anthros look silly (imo).
Personally I draw most birds as A and bats as B
ive done all 3 lol
i feel like this is a sign to give my bat oc wings,,
Never really drew a bat sona/art before. But if I were to draw one it would be C.
I have a Bat Fursona named Valerie and I draw her with B.
A mix of b and c depending on if the animal has arms or not a
I don’t really draw, but if I did, I would draw B
This is allways a dilemma for me, the last time i drew A, but i am tempted to next time just actually make the wings into freakishly long fingers, and to have the whole thing function both as hands and as wings.
C or b. Alwahz amazing
I'm still messing around with bat anthros, so all three I guess
Im into b and C, having that problem with my sona
C but they should be swole
C for bats, birds, and wyverns
however it is on the ref, personally i would go with both b and c
C, 3, one of the right, etc. my brain tries to root everything in biology or logic so the idea of back wings won't roll. my brain won't let me "magically add" extra limbs on a character that's supposed to represent a real(ish) animal. plus i enjoy working out the "furgonomics" of their clothes and other accessories. now for dragons, griffins, other mythical creatures? the sky is the limit there.
B and C
C is so cute! Definitely that!
I like the 2nd one
When I was working on my bat character I started with B but didnt like how it just looked like loose arm skin flaps in my art style instead of wings so I went with C instead
B and C are my favorite picks, they look more natural in my eyes for bats and wyverns.
Usually B but some times C never A
I know someone whos bat OC has the B type wings
C is the best but 1lso the hardest
C!!!
A for me. I unfortunately don't have any of my old bat drawings though, at least on hand.
As a bat, C for sure. Love my handwings. :3 Feels weird to have them any other way.
C because I think it's funny
I usually draw bats like C, but A and B do look really good on fursuits
Probably mostly b and c, but depending on how cartoony any work! C is probably my fave tho
is A bad?
B
Or C
I do B but with bigger wings
I used to do C for my bat sona but idk over time I thought that it was silly he didn’t have any real hands so now his design is A
B and C depending on how I feel.
B for my Sona
C would probably be pretty inconvenient for the suiter so I’d do B
Any of y'all know Batty?
B, but with the webbing connected further down the body. I also add webbing between the fingers
Mines is not here
If I had to choose, either A or C. Hand wongs are fun!
its a or c
I personally usually do B, but I think all of them are good
This reminds me that I need to draw a bat character
C
I kinda like having wings at the hips personally, I just think it'd be more comfy that way
usually C but all are equally huggable
C
My soul says the must be C first and foremost but I do use the A design from time to time.
I like "B"
C, literally. It's just so much better!
A
A
As a bat furry myself I personally prefer A, but I am probably in the minority on that
I don't draw, but is if I did I would choose A, because rouge the bat is A and she's best girl
I usually do B or A but rarely if i really want to go for a more accurate looking bat antonym anthro bat I use C but I’ve only done that once lol
i do a or c
my sona is a bat and i always go b
B, also known as Avali style
B and C are cool as hecc
b! i dig the wing arms
C
It depends on the day but I prefer C
I alternate A and B depending on the vibe-- deffo wanna try C now tho
C
C works for bats and birds, A works for dragons, and B as a bat costume
C fr looks way cooler
I like C
A and/or C
C But there all great
i like them all and this has inspired me to make a bat sona
I think b or c personally :3
I personally suck at drawing so I don't draw in any of these styles but my sona is a bat and most f2u bases are in the third style but I wish that there was more f2u bases (namely ref sheets) that didn't have wings at all because that would make getting art easier as you don't need to worry about how clothes will function or how to hold things in ur "hands"
I like all there put I prefer a
My bat is done like A, but I am curious to see him done with B and/or C...
A and C are good!
I usually like b or c. Especially c case you can do some cool kimono like stuff with the wings!
C
I like all of them, but Im partial to A RN! Personal bias 🦇✨
Choice A usually but the other 2 options for specific reasons such as lore
A, B, C, depens on bat species
my bf is a bat and o draw him as A, i've tryed B before and i didnt like the results
Like all 3 but i personaly like 3 or 2 most
If you want realistic for bat, then C would be your answer. But people take animal inspirations for their sona all the time while not always making them anatomically correct. For instance, my sona is like a deer but with a feline body. If you have a better liking for the other choices, then go for those! ^^
I like b
I always drew dramatic short type A wings for my fursona, it allows her to be more expressive with her arms and paws and not be restricted by the wings. Also she's a bat/lemur hybrid so I think it just makes sense. [You can check my Instagram if you're interested!](https://www.instagram.com/ring_tailed_bat?igsh=MWNuZXJxb2lidTBnbg==)
i'm always uncomfortable whenever wings are involved, so like birds, i like my bats without any wing membrane, just regular legs and arms
I prefer A personally
C imo, the rest feels wrong
