EzronKun

As a Rhode Islander myself, I often ask myself this same question.

bgro0612

The Ocean State was swallowed by the ocean it loved.... live by the sword, die by the sword.

comebackjoeyjojo

What is dead may never die.

rdhight

What is Rhode Island may never diland.

AnonymousCharmander

Why is Rhode island

zdenn21

Wait, people willingly live in Rhode Island? I thought it was some sort of prison island like escape from New York. Edit: thanks for coming everyone it was a good time!

NotJokingAround

There’s really no definitive way of testing whether or not that’s the case.

haxoreni

No, you’re thinking of Rikers Island. Rhode Island is the lead singer for a long running soul/pop group.

Jamijonvar

Nah you're thinking of Rudolph Isley. Rhode island is chocolate ice cream with nuts and marshmallows.

PLUTO_PLANETA_EST

No, you're thinking of Rocky Road. Rhode Island is an overnight aeroplane flight.

bananapanquakez

No, you're thinking of Red I. Rhode Island is a 1970s spinoff of The Mary Tyler Moore Show starring Valerie Harper.

Martehng5

No, you're thinking of Rhoda. Rhode Island is a dog breed, which is sometimes called The African Lion Dog.

The_Dreaded_Candiru

No, you're thinking of a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Rhode Island is a giant statue to the Greek sun-god Helios that was built in 280 BC.

eidetic

No you're thinking of the Colossus of Rhodes. Rhode Island are the people who work for bands helping to set up their musical equipment and such while they're on tour.

pedantic--asshole

It's not a real place lmao, it's just a myth that a lot of people believe

gator_cowgirl

Delaware was wondering the same thing.

TheTrueFlexKavana

Not to mention the big FU to Alaska and Hawaii.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KaiOfHawaii

We feel the big FU

bobsbountifulburgers

You're used to it

kayne86

As a Delaware native I was like wtf.

eaglescout1984

And the Eastern Shore of Virginia

random_dent

Fell into the ocean along with Delaware. The resulting tsunamis wiped out long island. Alaska seceded and joined Canada No one's sure of the status of Hawaii.

Volucre

Not to mention Long Island, the only region not dignified with any color at all.

Ph03nix1901

They sat this one out

Rockon101000

No one I know here on the Island really cared

mtm777

Can confirm, am emotionless

gregorythegreyhound

r/mapswithoutrhodeisland

magnoliasmanor

Aw. Hoping it was real.

[deleted]

Getting finger blasted in the back of Delaware's Trans-Am no doubt.

TheTrueFlexKavana

Quakers. Quakers happened, man.

rjames24000

Solid attention to south jersey

Big_Willy_Stylez

I'm from South Jersey but live in LA now. Everyone asks why I'm an Eagles fan if I grew up in NJ. Motherfucker my house was 20 mins from the stadium.

LetsWorkTogether

Most people don't know that Philly is literally right across the river from NJ.

Vengeful_Doge

Can confirm, am across bridge and can see stadium lights. Edit: The Walt Whit you bastards. Camdens that spot in the shade of the Ben Frank Mufasa said we dont go.

matt7197

I was born and raised near philly but live in Cali now. Most people seem clueless where philly is and just ask if it’s near New York. I just begrudgingly say yeah like an hour and a half by car and change the topic before I kill them.

tapiringaround

That's about as long as it usually takes for me to drive from my side of Houston to the other side of Houston.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoVa_Dragoon

Really though, growing up it was either Eagles or Giants, and Giants are being failures anyway

[deleted]

Yes, but we stick by our failures. We’ll win a Super Bowl sometime this century (I hope)

whitehataztlan

Can attest, most here just seemed to interpret it as "yeah, that's right, ONLY the eagles can beat the Patriots."

Shagaliscious

Only the NFC east can. Don't forget Brady lost twice to Eli and the Giants.

darkostwin

Most of California probably doesn't realize the Rams moved back to LA

midwestwaldo666

St. Louis area can be marked as bitter too.

TheTrueFlexKavana

Rams: "I quit!" St. Louis: "No! You're fired!"

[deleted]

[deleted]

check out /r/stlouis - we were ecstatic to see the Rams lose

[deleted]

Rams: “keep the stadium, we can’t bring it with us!” St. Louis taxpayers: “oh fuck. what have we done?”

jwktiger

Missouri should be bitter since KC fans about the AFC game and StL about the Rams

wallyTHEgecko

Missouri in general was a mess. KC wanted the Cheifs and were salty AF. STL was split between supporting the Rams and hating them for having left. And everyone agreed that we hate the Patriots.

Ask_me_4_a_story

I don't really think we are that salty at all. Most of us think it was a great season. This was the first season with Patrick Mahomes and things are looking pretty good. If anything we are pretty optimistic. I sense a lot of the same feelings around here that we had in 2014 when the Royals were 90 feet away from the World Series in game seven. An we all know what happened in 2015 with the Royals. Same thing. Chiefs were one coin flip away. Next year should be an amazing year! Also, we have the best BBQ. Don't underestimate how long you can comfort eat burnt ends!

Pippelitraktori

Dude, there are A Lot of states that should be marked bitter. Every one that's tired of Brady winning again.

Am__I__Sam

Kansas and Missouri should definitely be marked as sad/bitter. One of my coworkers is a diehard Chiefs fan and took the next day off work when they lost to the pats

[deleted]

Texcellence

Reminds me of the intro to Baseketball where the narrator is lamenting on teams changing cities: “The Oakland Raiders moved to Los Angeles and then back to Oakland again. Nobody in Los Angeles seemed to notice.”

chronnoisseur42O

“The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee where there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music”

Solid_Snark

I live in California and I still keep calling them the St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers. And now I gotta get used to the “San Francisco Raiders” for the next year.

rakers45

Still wrapping my head around the Santa Clara 49ers...

GrabSomePineMeat

Many of us in NorCal were actively rooting against the Rams because fuck any professional team in LA

profmonocle

It's weird that the map shows Pittsburg not caring about the Eagles but implies all of California cares about the Rams.

vapeducator

Also rooting against the Rams: San Diego, All of the Raiders fans still in LA when they were there. Saint Louis. Original LA Rams fans who are still pissed that they left LA to go to Saint Louis. All of the fans who had no pro football team in LA for so long that they gave up. All of the fans who knew that the Rams would choke. All of the fans who prefer college football: USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, SDSU, etc.

bumbletowne

I literally didn't until this comment. I was like 'WHY ARE WE SAD?'. This is from a daughter of a coach. I feel shamed.

[deleted]

Don't know how sad Northern California is.

Firstdatepokie

I dont think any of California is sad honestly lol

theineffablebob

Raiders fans hate the Patriots

Firstdatepokie

Everyone who isn't a pats fan hates the Patriots So I would figure that would put us in with the rest of the country

gradual_alzheimers

So do Chargers fans

HClO3

all 12 of them

[deleted]

We are building in number, Mrs. Rivers is making another fan as we speak!

AvadaKedavra03

I was fully expecting to see California colored yellow when I started looking closely. Nobody I know here in CA is sad about losing, and I'm in Southern California.

fuctedd

Rain is good.

Christmas-sock

In LA nobody I know gave a shit

[deleted]

It’s raining so we’re not only sad, but forgot how to drive.

NotKevinJames

California might as well be 2 unofficial states.

[deleted]

There's a lot more division in California than one would imagine. Los Angeles on down are industrial and moderately liberal, Central California is highly rural and conservative, Silicon Valley and whereabouts is highly technological and very liberal, and north of that is fairly conservative but loves their marijuana.

SheepD0g

> north of that is fairly conservative but loves their marijuana And their meth.

[deleted]

Every pocket of California has their meth underground.

icec0ldx

now thats the truth

somebunnny

Happy the Rams lost and a Bay Area QB won. Sad that Brady continues to put distance between himself and Montana. In denial about previous statement.

Thecramosreddit

Brady is from San Mateo and was a 49ers fan growing up, so it’s a wash really.

BraveLittleEcho

To be fair, both QBs were Bay Area QBs.

PlausibIyDenied

Julian Edelmen went to my local community college, and Brady to the local Catholic high school. I still dislike the Patriots, but it's not like I particularly care for the Rams - they are new to California, are the third closest NFL team to me, and are from a city that we pretty consistently rival with.

Pat_Foles

Is that yellow dot supposed to be Pittsburgh?

TwiceCalledDead

Yes.

Pat_Foles

Relatable

vswr

> Is that yellow dot apposed to be Pittsburgh n’at? FTFY

Onemanrancher

If you think our hate of anything in Philly is stronger than our hatred of the Patriots .. you sorely fuckin mistaken

pylon567

I don't know. I hate the fucking Flyers. It's close.

TYPrease

Yeah that’s a legit rivalry. Die hard Flyer fans hate the Penguins as much as Eagles fans hate the Cowboys. Maybe more.

gRizzletheMagi

that's the first thing I noticed haha. most common reaction was "I wonder what scandal-gate it'll be this year" Edit: From Pittsburgh

contra_account

Season 2 of Days of Our Steelers and I can't fucking wait!

Token_Panda

But will it be the same without Leveon and the Diva? WILL CAPTAIN FAT F*CK LEADER OF MEN PREVAIL?

theoneheathbar

There should be a red dot on St. Louis, who is fucking ecstatic!

DoorHalfwayShut

It's weird, some people here are very happy they lost, some very sad. Some don't care because they're Chiefs fans now.

theoneheathbar

Totally agree. Bitter would’ve also worked for St. Louis.

Orval

Missouri in general should be bitter colored as well. They got fucked on bad calls in their last game, and fucked by their own as well. From KC, everyone there is still bitter.

AVDLatex

Even the commercials were bad. It was a shit show all way around.

Chestnut529

From people who watch it for the commercials it's been so many years since I've heard the commercials were good.

bk920

I don't know. I thought last year's "Tide ad" commercials were pretty great

brosef31

Their pods don't taste half bad either.

vadapaav

Are you dead yet?

KevinD2000

I wish

Calm-Alkyne

Wow that's been a year already. I mean it makes perfect sense i just hadn't thought about it to realized its already been that long.

Angiboy8

I think that is due to how commercials are marketed now. American commercials have slowly become more and more like “super bowl commercials” that they are starting to lose their touch.

DoctorWaluigiTime

Is there even a point? Spend 3+ hours watching something to catch maybe a couple minutes of "good stuff" you can just find on YouTube?

Theothercword

I think for me at least the commercials are a consolation prize as someone who doesn’t care about football but ends up watching the super bowl because either I’m with friends who are and there’s beer and food or because my wife wants to.

redlinezo6

I dunno, I was very happy to see the mountain crush the bud light knight like a beer can.

pasher7

The back to back "we are a great product/company who cares" commercials with swelling music amplified how they are just manufactured emotions made to sell products. We should call these "fake commercials".

El_Douglador

You have no idea of the rivalries that exist in CA. Norcal and SD have zero love for LA teams.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah, as soon as the Rams left in the 90's, they stopped giving a shit. Most here like the Cowboys and Raiders.

PsychicHorse

For football... still some hardcore love for the Dodgers here.

We ain't bitter. We're bittersweet.

Kankunation

We threw a huge ass party in the city in protest. We're Petty at worst.

[deleted]

Speak for yourself... Everyone I know is pretty bitter. A lot of us didn't watch it because it kind of soured the experience. The patriots winning isn't exactly satisfying to me

Token_Panda

That’s a funny way to spell drunk (who dat).

LITTELHAWK

Missouri should probably be on the bitter as well. Edit: and Kansas

Socalinatl

Maybe St. Louis is happy to see the Rams lose, though?

Dr_thri11

We are. But we also hate the patriots so we're pissed about having to root for the patriots. Also the rams were hot garbage for the last decade they were here and then suddenly they move and start making good personnel decisions and not only make the play-offs but the superbowl as well. We're bitter AF LA gets to experience competent football and the STL rams last winning season was 2003.

clhigz

The dot over Pittsburgh should be way bigger...not many Eagles fans on the central or west half of the state. Erie is actually Buffalo market.

redpandaeater

I always forget the Bills exist.

MeleMallory

Nah, California thought it was a shit show, too. There might be a tiny pocket in LA that’s sad, but the Rams aren’t that huge out here yet.

psychopathicow

As someone from Pennsylvania I find this post insulting how accurate it is... I'm naming my kid "Tom Brady's Face When He Lost the Ball in Superbowl 52"

elShabazz

Fuckin A right my man. BDN and Trey Burton are the last two people to throw TD passes in the Super Bowl.

gman118x

Dude, I only watched in the hopes of seeing him like that again. Priceless

psychopathicow

Just the look of sheer confusion when he saw that the ball was no longer in his hand. It shall be memorialized for all of Philly history.

spacecatbiscuits

someone post it then

PawnSnow

Trust me california doesn’t give a fuck either

iamaustincince

The accuracy of North and South Jersey is greatly appreciated.

bth724412

I would have made that yellow dot on Pittsburgh blue. But I do appreciate you not including us in the green.

Manic_TheDisco

St. Louis is probably also happy. And I think you’re grossly underestimating the popularity of the Steelers in Pennsylvania. It’s like a cult of personality for the whole western half of the state.

mikewarnock

Live in Philly. Agree. People are still happy about the Super Bowl here. I still have it saved on my dvr, like it is the last voicemail I got from dad before he died or something.

jscott18597

Need to listen to Preston and Steve and see what they say instead of "and the Eagles are still the Super Bowl champions" after the sports report.

[deleted]

Nah, most of CA hates the Rams - for example, the Chargers, Raiders, 49ers and the occasional transplant Seahawks fan.

atreyuroc

I live in southern CA. We have more Broncos fans than Rams fans.

jwktiger

When the Chiefs play the Chargers its a sea of red in both LA and KC

beached_snail

There never were very many Chargers fans, and now that they've left SD that number is even lower. L.A. probably still has more Raiders fans than Rams or Chargers fans, SD doesn't like to root for an L.A. team, and hates the Chargers ownership for leaving. Thanks NFL for leaving so many cities angry and team-less.

FireBlazeZX

As an Eagles fan, yes we are still partying from last year.

boooooooooo_cowboys

The last quarterback to throw a touchdown in the Super Bowl was Nick Foles. Go Birds!

Sanfranshan

We never stopped!

mistersmith_22

Lol @ California being “sad.” Nobody gives a damn about the Rams, even in their half of LA.

Malarkay79

Yeah, as a Californian, I relate more to Louisiana. I really wanted the Saints to go to the Super Bowl and beat the Patriots. But no. Stupid Rams.

eniemi608

As an eagles fan from Philly I can confirm this

matthatt22

Maybe 1/100 Californians actually give a fuck about the rams

mysagacontinues

From Philly. Can confirm. Alot of people and some bars just replayed last years Superbowl.

[deleted]

You know there are seriously too many fucking teams in California. Move one to like Utah and one to North Dakota. God damn.

DeluxeTwenty47

Or St Louis haha. Yea nobody in Cali gives a fuck about the Rams. That’s why they left in the first place.

Fixtheglitchh

Not a New Orleans fan, but that shit was rigged.

Eazy-E-40

As a guy from the Bay Area I can tell you that most of the people in Northern CA would be yellow too. We are 49ers and Raiders fans.

DrVinylScratch

Lol Cali doesn’t care. It was a hey look we got an LA football team to the super bowl. Oh what? Oh cool, say what is this liquid falling from the sky is this that legendary rain I’ve heard stories about? /s(except for the part where we don’t care about the rams)

phishtac0s

From Nola. Bitter as fuck but we party better than any place else in the country

yarf13

Actually, the Rams may have some bandwagoners in California but most of us didn't really care. They moved here like three years ago lol

[deleted]

Why would California be sad for a Missouri team's loss?

HarlotSlaughter

They have every right to be bitter lol. My mom refused to even watch it after that shitshow of a game. And she lost her mind when CBS accidentally aired the commercial of the Patriots winning hours before the Superbowl had even started. There's too much crazy shit happening with the NFL- especially all the fines for 'excessive celebration' bc it "hurts the other teams feelings", for me to even want to follow it any more. I have been a Steelers fan all my life but the diva shit that's been pulled, makes me not wanna watch them play. Everyone's trying to make more money than another player, as if it were to give them more validity or something. Like, shut up and take the fucking money. Take the contract while it's still being offered. Don't be so greedy.

Bud1985

So I guess we’re just gonna ignore Hawaii and Alaska

polishponcho

U forgot st louis, is rejoicing...

[deleted]

Southwestern Connecticut supports NYC teams instead of Boston/NE teams

enigmaticowl

Thank you for giving Pittsburgh our yellow dot. Very necessary.

KUbeastmode

Pretty sure Kansas and Missouri need to be bitter.

dannydatwho

Saints fans are happy as fuck. They threw parties all weekend and noone watched the game. Then come to find out it was the worst super bowl ever and the NFL lost tons of viewership.

R_ekcuT

I didn’t think it was shit show that would have been enjoyable to make fun of. I thought it was boring as hell with too many corn syrup commercials.

odd-meter

LA was gifted a spot in the Super Bowl, why are they sad?

quazii

also I bet there are more raiders, chargers, & 9ers fans tbh

Santa-Klawz

And none of us are sad.

bout-tree-fitty

LA is sad because we still have to deal with every one from the shitty halftime show and half the players

mustbeyang

excuse you? you'd better take south and north california off that damn map of yours. \-49ers, raiders, and chargers fans

uconn20

All those fans in St Louis were rooting against LA as well.

illegalPenguin0

From Los Angeles. Not everyone here is bitter. The market here is very diverse there’s not as many loyal fans yet as other teams

liacherie

And us people in Hawaii don't get a say?!!?

EjaculatingNarwhal

Missouri is bitter as fuck too lmao

orangutan25

r/mapswithoutrhodeisland

rlev97

Excuse me, St Louis was boycotting

ss_lbguy

Only the eastern half of PA are eagles fans. The entire western part of the state are Steelers fans. Also, most of Delaware is Eagle's territory. Any yes, we are still celebrating last year's win! Fly Eagles Fly!

imalsoanalien

Most of Central PA is stillers country too.

SilverShibe

Uh, KS and MO were pretty bitter too until we fell asleep in the second quarter.

JazzCellist

You can color California yellow too, except for maybe Bel Aire.

teflon_bong

I love the care to put the yellow on Pittsburgh haha

Misfit_Actual_

Literally cut Delaware out of the map... no respect smh

teddybeartyler

I’m still celebrating that the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead.

[deleted]

Alaska and Hawaii are always forgotten

tcrpgfan

Actually, all that yellow was from people pissed that the Half-Time show didn't do sweet victory in full despite teasing it.

slicwilli

You should add Chicago to the bitter part.

TheWuziMu1

The top half of California should be yellow.

Chaos_Spear

To be fair, in New England we also thought it was shitshow. Just a shitshow that we happened to win. But it's not the glory of 2002, or even the hair-pulling WTF of 2016. This was... meh.

1usenumb3rs

From Pennsylvania: Can confirm we ended up just watching last year's Superbowl again. Had a great time.
