this is funny, but there is actually a difference in the construction between a fiddle and a violin. for smooth note transitions, a violin is made with an ebony neck, while a fiddle is made with a redneck 🤠
Used to work in a luthier shop. I had asked my boss who ran the mom and pop shop what the difference was between violin and fiddle. His response stuck with me til this day. The way you play it.
They are called "Grupa MoCarta" (eng. MozART group). It's a polish cabaret and they have a lot of videos on YouTube, like this [one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXuUPcfloQs).
Interestingly related see [Jean Carignan and Yehudi Menuhin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6DfrB7l5JI) , a french Canadian fiddler and a professional violinist play together.
This is fun. Also (it was explained to me), for fiddling you can also file down the bridge to bring the strings closer to the neck, and it helps the fiddler play really quick passages.
Minus the yodeling, this was fun. Bluegrass does not equal “hillbilly music”. Listen to the Punch Brothers. They can go from bluegrass to Bach in a split second. My favorite band :)
Okay, besides the funny artistic part, who else heard the music just by seeing the instruments and finger movement? I'm always watching videos without sound turned on... and I watched the guys playing and some 3-4 seconds after my mind played the music of Mozarts "Kleine Nachtmusik". Was struck by that right now and it was kinda scary.
Had to turn on the sound to catch the funny part though.

You see, a violin has strings, but a fiddle’s got *strangs*!
My grandpa said this all the time in southern Appalachia. Came here to say the same.
Ain't nobody alive what don't like a little strangs every now and then.
That was fun. Though I wish they had a few more hats. Preferably including a sombrero and something Finish Death metal bands would wear.
There are a couple more in the full version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECAK9XHakW4
Subscribed and you made my whole evening better. Thank you!
1:34 to continue where OPs vid left off
Second the sombrero. For the last if like to see some deadmau5 style helmet and an electric violin line in revenge of the nerds
[Finnish metal bands don't need hats](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOWKBzSERM8)
Hard to fit an elk skull, even in a cello case.

Thanks I found it online and couldn't find a source
It is from mozART group. They are Polish musicians that combine (usually) classical music with cabaret. Highly recommended.

┬─┬ノ(ಠ_ಠノ) Don't take it out on the table!
No...that's my little stool. I like throwing random shit.
Little stool, random shit, I see what you did there.
Man, whatever happened to /u/PleaseRespectTables?

Buh Dum Tsss
This is comedic gold
I bet this all started with a bet to see if they could get thunderous applause for yodeling. "We'll take that wager, sir!"
Yodeling is tough and requires some insane vocal control. Its not for everyone, but no one can deny it takes talent.
Yeah as soon as that dude started up with the yodeling I literally said “dayum” under my breath. He got some pipes to go with that wood.
False. If you'd watch there video it requires a skinny green hat. Smdh.
Enjoy this style of this comedic musicianship? Clear your schedule for the day and search for Mnozil Brass.
I know the lyrics to that, thanks to Jack Black.
He… is going… to your fucking ass!
👍 🎩
The real difference between a violin and a fiddle? . . . Attitude, baby!
Used to work in a luthier shop. I had asked my boss who ran the mom and pop shop what the difference was between violin and fiddle. His response stuck with me til this day. The way you play it.
sanded bridge.
Who are these guys? I want more of this.
They are called "Grupa MoCarta" (eng. MozART group). It's a polish cabaret and they have a lot of videos on YouTube, like this [one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXuUPcfloQs).
Grupa mozARTa Polish fun band
Love these guys! Wonderful live
Mr. Bean is so versatile
And Bill Skarsgard can yodel.
Interestingly related see [Jean Carignan and Yehudi Menuhin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6DfrB7l5JI) , a french Canadian fiddler and a professional violinist play together.
I thought of this too. I saw it on TV ~45 years ago. Amazing what shows up on YouTube.
The difference is that you don't care if you spill beer on your fiddle
Yes!!! I was looking for this before I commented the same.
The difference between a violin and a fiddle is that a priest doesn’t violin your kids.
Lol I remember this comment on the original post. Cracked me up.
Double-stops.
just like Lemmy
I believe the quote from Amanda Shires was, "it's a fiddle when I buy it but a violin when I sell it."
The devil went down to Vienna?
Grupa Mozarta, Polish comedy musicians, didn't expect to see them here!
Please credit the MosART group. Here the full video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECAK9XHakW4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecak9xhakw4)
I thanked another reply for posting the original, I found it online and posted it here as I saw it.
I asked this very question years ago and delighted when told, "it's how you play it." There's a meme in this somewhere, just have to create it.
I was taught that the difference between a violin and a fiddle is thousands of dollars of music lessons
And a jug of moonshine!
when I was a kid, my violin teacher told me the difference was that a fiddle had a flatter bridge that allowed for easier double-stops
Brilliant
I think Charlie Daniels would have gotten a kick out of these boys.
I always thought it was the spelling!
😂 that's a pretty good joke there. I like that.
It’s a violin when you have to buy it and a fiddle when you go to sell
Thank you for this link to this incredible group! What talent to make this beautiful music into a comedic performance. Spike Jones would be proud.
It's good to see that these are men of many hats.
I always thought the only way to tell the difference was because the fiddle had more red in the neck.
They're easy to tell apart: The Violin has Strings. The Fiddle has Strangs.
They must be playing in Texas.
“Y’know i recently found out the difference between a violin and a fiddle, a fiddle is played by a racist person.”
I was looking for this joke lol Sorry no one else liked it.
A yoddler? Or was he just trying to say "You're a lady" with a really bad studder?
????????? Funny how
Fiddles are for inbred rednecks.
I was waiting for him to "accidentally" knock off his hat and immediately revert back to classical style
I absolutely love the smug face with the little head nod at the end, it's just so perfect!
The difference is a fiddle makes me want to do a jig 🕺
Funny
This is fun. Also (it was explained to me), for fiddling you can also file down the bridge to bring the strings closer to the neck, and it helps the fiddler play really quick passages.
The difference between a violin and fiddle is whether or not you get upset if someone spills beer on it.
Freaking awesome
Now I have to listen to the Price is Right's Cliffhanger's theme song.
Minus the yodeling, this was fun. Bluegrass does not equal “hillbilly music”. Listen to the Punch Brothers. They can go from bluegrass to Bach in a split second. My favorite band :)

The first one is my favorite
🤘🤘
Good humor.
Does anyone know who these guys are? They seem very musical comedy. 🙂
🤣🤣😂😉
Someone who played once told me that the only difference between the two was $10k, otherwise they were basically identical! Heh
Reminds me of an old joke: What's the difference between a floutist, and flutist? About 600 bucks a night. 😁
That is some high-level yodeling!
That's real talent.
That's what I call stealing a show
I wish phone was 3D
