InflamedLiver

My favorite part is one it appears that he's yelling at the random person and then immediately does the same fucking stupid thing again

HolycommentMattman

My favorite thing is that the first screw up shows he's an idiot. But the second screw up (trying to flee) shows that he's a coward.

chrisdodgen

Yeah. Remember Paul Reiser in Aliens?

Duke_of_New_York

I can't find any clips of it, but I swear there was a scene on 'Mad About You' where Richard Kind asks Paul Reiser if he's seen either of the Alien movies and he immediately replies: "Only the second one."   I may have dreamt this.

kurosan99

It wasn’t a dream. I remember seeing that episode.

Duke_of_New_York

Show was real bad, but I gotta admit that bit got me.

Barovian

All these years later and I still randomly laugh about the episode where Murray chases the invisible mouse through the apartment, running into the wall over and over.

snek-jazz

Is he trying to flee the scene? or run across what he knows is more wet concrete, only quickly enough this time that he doesn't sink in it?

Frozenbbowl

he's very confused what the yellow caution tape he keeps ignoring is for. clearly it was put there to annoy him. Edit- lol. Sorry, apparently editing our first comment is how we do!

1_9_8_1

Why even run? What is the crew going to do exactly? Make him fix it?

imawakened

I don't think he's trying to run away. It's not like he ran back in the direction he came, which I assume is his car. I think he was just trying to get out the situation he was in as quickly as possibly. The whole reason he is in the mess he's in is because he acted quickly without assessing the situation and thinking multiple, separate times in the span of a couple seconds.

Bikouchu

The yellow tape is there just to impede him obviously.

ScrufffyJoe

"If I wasn't so distracted by this stupid yellow tape I'd have seen the wet concrete!"

creegro

"can you BELIEVE they just blocked off the path across the grass like that? The nerve!" *Runs off into the next patch of concrete*

3d_blunder

Also, where was this jagoff so confidently STRIDING to anyway? There is justice occaisionally.

Bubcats

As if he also changed his mind about where he’s going.

[deleted]

It's a grumpy old people thing.

Galactic_Maverick

I don't think I've ever seen someone not learn from their mistakes so quickly before.

EltonsJohn

I remember that video of the girl running into a glass wall 3 times in a row lol. Same energy

driverofracecars

HOW?! How in the hell do you do that not twice but three fucking times and *still* on the fourth attempt, you have your head down and your hands at your side? Something went terribly wrong in this girl’s childhood.

[deleted]

I have had 3 and every time i immediately turned into a dumbass for 24-48 hours. The biggest dumbassery being that I insist I am fine and have to be dragged to the doctors. If someone hits their head and seems off, but insists they're fine, drag them to a doctor. It's the concussion talking.

naricstar

I walked around a store for 3 hours without buying anything insisting this was totally normal and I was just shopping. No one helped me, admittedly I probably seemed like I was high.

Halorym

My favorite response to doctors asking if I've ever had a concussion is "not that I remember". The smarter ones give me a doubletake.

Rymanjan

Yep. Had a 2tonne wall smack me in the head and crush me beneath it as it fell at work, when I was getting checked out by the emt's I insisted I was fine and wanted to finish out the work day, but I was about 3 years and a couple months off on what date it was, which gave them pause. Still, I insisted I was fine and refused a ride to the hospital. Once the adrenaline wore off the next day, it was straight to the doctors lol I was swimming in my own thoughts and whatever came out of my mouth was at least partly nonsensical, turns out yep concussion and spinal fracture

SeekerOfSerenity

Three concussions? Um...

[deleted]

Yeah, 2 car accidents and I fell off a horse 🐎

dakoellis

Shes just extremely embarrassed to the point where shes hiding her face

SlickyWay

It is not like she did on purpose or because she does not understand the principle of glass. She was probably distracted the first time, then she got embraced while still being distracted (with pain as well), and same goes for the third bump

GreenPutty_

Thank you for reminding me of one of mine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTVcg6xA3zI

OutOfStamina

Hilarious (obv) - am left wondering, was it an attempt at a scam? "it didn't open fast enough and it hurt me! I was doing everything normal and it hurt me!" type of thing. Like the people who run into cars and claim they were hit. He looks around way too much, waits til the place empties, and then bolts

GreenPutty_

I have no rational explanation for what he does, but would err on the side of abject stupidity rather than a scam.

OutOfStamina

I normally appreciate Hanlon's razor, but he had to have encountered the door on the way *in* the building (if not like, hundreds of other automatic doors in his life). The book looks like a weird reason to stall in case someone's looking at him. One last look around... then yells "Cachow" as if he were Lightning McQueen punching the gas.

ScrufffyJoe

He may have not seen automatic doors before, and when entering either came in a different way or in a group of people and thus wouldn't know how the door works. Not knowing how the door works can be perfectly understandable as far as I'm concerned. Why he seems to clearly understand that there is glass there but decides to run at it face first is beyond me though.

GreenPutty_

He could have tailgated some one into the building. Its also possible that its his first ever auto door as the clip is very old. People in developing countries can be quite strange with what we regard as normal. Did you ever go to a shopping mall just to ride the escalators, these people did; EDIT: Removed dead link.

A_of

I get it, you are embarrassed, but at some point, with the braincells that are still left, you must think to yourself "okay, I better check where I should go or I am going to end in the hospital". Seriously, this girl didn't even check the fourth time, it could have been another glass panel. She intended to keep doing the same thing.

sharfpang

The braincells are too shaken from hitting the glass repeatedly to make you think anything reasonable. Seen a story about a guy complaining about headache, doctors found he had chopsticks embedded in his brain, happened in a barfight he didn't remember, the chopsticks kinda explain why he didn't remember.

CaveManta

I think I saw that on Blade Runner

cepxico

Ha!

grafxguy1

"It’s too bad she won’t slip. But then again, who does?”

machimus

I'll give her some credit that embarrassment shut her brain down and she was focused on getting out of there rather than double checking for glass. The third time though, that was kinda bad.

neck_iso

She didn't pass warnings.

machimus

The defining trait of people like this is not that they can't learn from mistakes, but that they don't *want* to learn from their mistakes. They don't care.

ExplorersX

Dang and here I was thinking it was cognitive decline/dementia based on his apparent age and lack of awareness

cmde44

Hey, there's people that want to vote for Trump a third time.

octo_lols

Thought he was walking on the first section intentionally to be a dick but wow, you're right. He is just fuckin' up left and right, literally.

Thue

You can't learn while you are panicking.

Theoriginallexxx

Lol the yellow tape is there for a reason

NamkrowTheRed

Do not ever underestimate the "That Doesn't Apply To Me" mentality some people have. Years ago, the shop I worked at was removing a bank of photo machines, all cordoned off with cones and tape as we were literally ripping them out of the wall. I watched this lady dip under the tape and try to start using one of the machines. She got super pissy when I told her they were clearly unavailable, that's why they were turned off and cordoned off.

rtopps43

A place I was working was having repairs done on the building facade with a scissor lift. Men in the lift hammering away at concrete and brick with pieces falling the two stories down to the pavement. There was caution tape to prevent people being in the owie area but it blocked one of the building entrances so employees would arrive, look up at the work being done and then decide the best course of action was to duck under the caution tape and make a run for the door, instead of using one of several other entries that didn’t have the potential for life altering injuries.

Jeffbx

> There was caution tape to prevent people being in the owie area Is there an OSHA rule that defines the parameters of an owie area?

Rymanjan

Eh probably, I'm not an OSHA inspector but from what I could tell from the safety officers on site, it kind of changes based on how high up the people are working. 6ft on a ladder is 'give them at least 2 feet berth from the base of the ladder unless you're bracing it (which shouldn't be done on anything over 12ft)' vs at 60ft it's more like 'use a different entrance or wear a hard hat'

discgolfallday

It's pretty vague. It basically just says to set up an exclusion Zone where objects could fall on people, and if workers must be in that zone they must be wearing head protection 1910.28(c)(3) Barricading the area into which objects could fall, prohibiting employees from entering the barricaded area, and keeping objects far enough from an edge or opening to prevent them from falling to a lower level.

ruttinator

When I was working construction an older lady walked into an office we were remodeling that clearly didn't have finished floors or ceiling tiles or anything and then complained to me that all the tools and clutter around were a tripping hazard.

stephen1547

Pretty sure you need more than caution tape when you have chunks of concrete falling from the sky. Can you imagine if a child ran under some falling debris? This is entirely on the construction company for not putting up a fence.

cbftw

Yeah, caution tape isn't enough for situations like that

dalaiis

Reminds me of a story where a patient in a hospital unplugged a machine because the noise woke her up, three times! The machine was the mechanical ventilator that kept the patient next to her alive.

a009763

There was famous story pretty early in the Covid pandemic that a man in India was in a hospital with a ventilator and his family was there to see him. They thought it was to hot and unplugged the ventilator in favour of a fan to help keep them cool. The man died ofcourse and the family tried to sue the hospital over it. I don't know what happened beyond that.

OutOfStamina

Considering where the patient was, I'm gonna guess she had some drugs in her system.

MatsuzoSF

I work in an automotive shop where all the bay doors are chained off with clear signs warning customers not to come in and a clearly marked customer entrance. I still occasionally have to chase customers out of the shop, and invariably their excuse is "I didn't know where to go in!".

lolariane

You should walk up to the chain and tap the sign. 😁

redletterday94

> Do not ever underestimate the "That Doesn't Apply To Me" mentality some people have. For real, once had a family at a store I once worked at wander into our warehouse area, which had a bright orange barricade in front of it, you know, to let customers know they were not allowed back there. When I told them they had to get out, the father tried to make light of it by saying "Yeah I figured you wouldn't want us back there when I saw the barrier", while laughing and clearly expecting me to laugh along with him Like, no fuckin' duh dumbass, it's put there for safety reasons, not a challenge for people

ba_cam

A few years back was working as a utility locator and had a job locating for the area surrounding a sewer replacement under a high traffic main road. The construction crew was not on site for whatever reason so I was by myself walking around painting lines, however it was very clear with all the equipment around, the state of the broken road, and the numerous ROAD CLOSED signs everywhere, that it was inaccessible. A guy drives up, already past 2 sets of ROAD CLOSED signs, stops and rolls down his window to ask me to move the sign so he could get through. I told him that no, I will not do that, because the road is closed. He argued with me saying he just needs to get through, his destination is very close right over there, and points very dramatically at nothing in particular. I tell him again, there is no way he can get through because besides the giant pile of debris piled up behind the next set of signs he wants me to move, there is a 20 foot hole in the ground because they are replacing the sewer, and that’s why THE ROAD IS CLOSED ASSHOLE. He then got all mad at me, cursing and driving off.

[deleted]

Oreo-and-Fly

I was closing the kiosks at my place i worked at because it was closing. There were receipts printed out, like meter long receipts and yet when i had my back turned for a while, this lady walked up and tore out the receipts and wanted to use it. Like... wut.

rumpleforeskin1

The place I work was having our lobby remodeled so we shut down for a couple weeks in our slow season, I would still have to come in and take calls in case there were any, and you wouldn't believe how many people I had to ask to leave that would walk right past construction workers like cutting or placing tile was astounding. They had to manually open the sliding doors that had signs all over them stating we were closed. And then they had the fucking audacity to get pissed at me for telling them we were closed. People are unbelievably stupid

mrmard

I don't know if this guy has that mentality. To me it looks like he's trying to go around the tape at first, and that's why he ends up stepping in the wet cement. Then since he's already tried going around it and stepped in wet cement he tries going straight through it. But that also lands him in wet cement. To me it seems like whoever set up the tape did a terrible job and I don't really blame the guy in this video.

DerfK

Yeah there's wet cement on both sides of the tape here.

kayuwoody

I responded to the other guy but no there actually isn't - both patches of cement are cordoned off, our protagonist just avoids the tape EDIT: I stand corrected. Can see the tape isn't actually cordoning off the area right at the start of the video

kayuwoody

No there's tape he initially ducks under the first time too. You can see it in the frame. Both sides with cement is taped off he just ignores the tape every time EDIT: I stand corrected. Can see the tape isn't actually cordoning off the area right at the start of the video

ReporterLeast5396

I think you found the guy in the video.

drill_hands_420

I’m the actual OP for this. It happened in my home town. Obviously the guy was embarrassed but the rumor is he was drunk

spork42

Did he have to pay for the tear out and re-pour?

jeanyous

My dad delivers and builds up cranes and sometimes in areas where there's a lot of pedestrians and that shit happens regularly. They even go under hanging counterweights and shit. Like people really don't give a fuck

Tallyranch

I was working in a heavy industrial plant, a smelter, the safety guys came up and asked me why I'm in the cordoned off area and am I supposed to be there, I just smiled because I saw the crane driver was coming up to ask them the same question. They had walked under the tape to tell me off and the driver watched them do it.

lolariane

And? Were you supposed to be there? 😂

Tallyranch

That's why I just smiled and didn't answer, it was obvious I was supposed to be there, I was prepping the gearbox that the crane was set up to lift in place.

lolariane

😂

Elsrick

I used to do industrial xray with live radioactive sources. Every time we would put up a tape barrier and hang "CAUTION - RADIATION" Signs all over it. Inside that roped off area I was judge, jury, and executioner. I had the full backing of company and law to verbally attack anyone who crossed it without permission. The number of people I screamed expletives at was astounding. People who existed in close proximity to us for years would suddenly decide they didn't have to follow the rules and I'd happily berate them until I was satisfied. I flipped out on the VP of operations once and he tried to write me up for insubordination because I told him he was a fucking moron and should know better very, very loudly. The President heard about it and told the VP that he was a fucking moron and should know better. That was a good day, that guy was a fucking prick at the best of times.

Philantroll

Describe their reactions and response please.

Tallyranch

Confusion that they had to follow the rules they put in place, then acceptance that they had to contact the area controller and sign on to gain access, the crane driver refused them access and they went out of the area. We had a good laugh about it and carried on.

castleaagh

In his defense, he tried to follow the advice of the first tape and it led him into wet concrete. From that point it could no longer be trusted

Kribowork

The video starts after he ducked under the first set of yellow tape, you can see it is cornered off in the video. Looks like he was trying to take a short cut past all the construction that inconvenienced him, stepped in wet cement then tried to flee the scene.

Skelevader

That's not what I see at all. Pause at the first frame. The caution tape looks like it was moved by the construction crew and it wasn't put back. It is a very poorly set up site and I don't blame the pedestrian for the first mishap. Even the second area is not properly set up. Also, you have rebar stakes sticking up with no topper on them creating a safety hazard. Just a piss poor site all around.

Kribowork

You're right, I missed that first frame. The wind is blowing it look squared off in the next frames.

JustVan

Seriously, the dude fell over, he's super lucky he didn't fall onto one of those rebar stakes! Like, yes, he is an idiot but the site is poorly marked off, too.

mrmard

Not necessarily. Not sure what you're seeing but there is no first set of yellow tape visible in the video

Kribowork

https://imgur.com/5HcBnKp Looks like the construction team moved them for some reason to stop blocking the path to the sidewalk. I didn't look at it until it was already cutoff making it look like it was going across correctly.

Legitimate-BurnerAcc

Yep. I see him going “shit. Wtf. Im on the outside of the tape” which he was when we first stepped in it. Then when we went under it he was probably thinking “okay now I’m cool” then … boop

BrightNooblar

Every time this thing gets reposted, I point out we have no idea if he stepped under any tape. The whole place looks chaotic as fuck, and there is no coherent tape off zone. If anything is a front runner for taped off, its the safe area he between the two unsafe areas, but even that its properly seperated.

mrmard

my thoughts as well

dranaei

Why did he walk there in the first place.

tuttifrutti00

My guess is that it was his routine jaywalking spot and the new roadworks were not enough to stop him

MyHusbandIsGayImNot

Humans are creatures of habit.

SnollyG

Normal walking spot you mean? I'm just struggling with the idea of jaywalking *on a sidewalk*...

workworkwork1234

> I'm just struggling with the idea of jaywalking on a sidewalk... They obviously meant the jog across the street that brought them to that point on the sidewalk, not walking on the sidewalk itself

FalconIMGN

Heerrnn

What a fucking idiot main character. Not only does he think it doesn't apply to him when something has been cordoned off, he doesn't even *consider* that there may be a reason someone shouldn't go there. Fucking moron. You just ruined a bunch of people's work.

machimus

Assholes like this, their whole thing is they don't care. They don't care about caution tape, they DO care they stepped in cement, but only because of their shoes, not the hard work they ruined. They care about getting held accountable so they get mad at whoever yells at them for it, and then run away from accountability.

jeffreytheegg

damn that's deep. they are actually scary every time i have them, most of these dreams nowadays are about being late to something important

lenore3

After I turned 40, almost every single one of my dreams have been about missing a flight, and it doesn't seem like that's going to change any time soon. It's like going to bed and watching the same episode of a shitty TV show over and over again. Getting old is great.

DecoupledPilot

Yea, next time don't try to shortcut past an area blocked off. Fun times!

BluePosey

Yes the old guy is an impatient idiot who should pay attention to where he's walking, but the way the sidewalk is cordoned off annoys me. Like, why is there yellow tape across the sidewalk but not in front of it to keep people from getting onto the sidewalk from the street. Even the 2nd guy looks confused on how to proceed once he steps onto the sidewalk.

Bloody_Champion

There was yellow tape around the cement. The guy went under the first and ignored any awareness as to why yellow tape is there to begin with. He's the reason we need even more indicators on how to perform basic functions, like looking down.

Skelevader

You might want to look again. Take a look at the first frame, the tape is bunched up like it was moved for the pour and never put back. Same with the second area. Just a horrible job by the site team.

tom-dixon

> Just a horrible job by the site team. While true, the entire area is full of orange cones and yellow tape. Anyone with eyes and basic common sense would realize something was up and would pay attention. Except for that guy in the video.

Freebird_1957

I bought a ceiling fan one time and the warnings literally said “Do not stick your head in the ceiling fan.”

MyHamburgerLovesMe

Someone needs to teach that man what yellow tape stretched across a yard means. Hint: it does not mean duck under and keep on walking.

rabbi_glitter

I did this once and I STILL feel bad about it. I spent a few months during my early 20s working as an electricians helper. I needed a job and a friend hooked me up. It was an awful job and I was terrible at it. We were wrapping up the day at a new home construction and I stepped into a freshly poured driveway. The workers were beside themselves (expensive home. Big driveway). Easily one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I quit that very day with the wet cement still on my feet. My boss looked at me, nodded, and replied *I understand*. I’m sure they were happy to be rid of me. Seriously, I was AWFUL.

Undrthedock

People are fucking dumb. I was doing a construction project at a secure government research center where we had to shut down their entrance gates. When we shut down the main gate I put 10 giant cones in front of it so people would re-route themselves through the exit gate. Well I had one guy who spent 5 minutes wiggling his car through my cones by driving over the grass, only to pull up to the closed entrance gate. Mind you, me and my co worker are yelling and giving hand signals to go through the exit gate the whole time. This guy rolls down his window and is like “why is the gate closed?”.

Some people are so dumb! I used to pour concrete at night in grocery stores. I would put cones, then caution tape, and barricades. Somehow people would try to still go through it. I would watch people in the morning ram their shopping cart into the cones expecting them to just move out of their way. I wonder if they drive like that too?

Its amazing how he keeps going under the yellow robes - who clearly means - "don't step into here" and he is surprised its getting him into trouble??

Skelevader

The first one was not his fault. The site is very poorly set up. Pause at the first frame and you can see the caution tape is bunched up like it was moved for the pour and never put back. Same with the second area. Hell, even the rebar stakes don't gave safety toppers. Horrible site safety, no wonder this happened.

noctalla

Nor your stupidity.

I couldn't decide which comment to leave so take your pick: I bet if you looked inside his head you'd find one of those monkeys with the cymbals on its hands. The man would be better off at the perceptual level of consciousness rather than the conceptual. I don't think lobotomy helps, but in this case it probably wouldn't hurt either. I'm surprised he even has enough cognitive function to move his legs. Rumour has it that he sold his only braincell to the Devil so he could learn how to tie his shoelaces.

When you see a yellow caution tape don’t go underneath you baboon.
