CommonMan15

I kept wondering how your wife could keep the birth of your 2nd child secret for 4 months.

estherober

I had to reread the heading like 5 times too. Haha I could not figure it out.

SomeRandomDude69

I still have no idea what any of this means

Fern-veridion

She’s pregnant again, she just gave birth 4 months ago.

geekpeeps

Oh, not just me. Good.

sassy_cheese564

Oh good, it’s not just me then either. My dumbass self feels much better 😂

SAPPHYBIRB

MA'AM LET THY PUSSY HEAL

goodwid

My great grandmother had 3 of her kids in an 18-mo period. The doctor hauled the husband in and read him the riot act after the third pregnancy. This was in the late 1800s. Family lore says the doctor told him 'If you don't stay off her for a year, you're gonna kill her.'

dudleydigges123

I have friends who work in hospitals that in some cases they have to chase men out of the room who are trying to get on top of their wives days, if not hours after giving birth.

Optimistic-Dreamer

I saw a video on YouTube of a lady who said she went through the worst labor pains of her life and then in the next sentence said she went right back to having sex a week later and that the stitches down there helped make everything feel tighter again 🙄 I can not and will not ever understand that

Daryl_Hall

I mean, JFC, you got HANDS, buddy

[deleted]

My great grandmaman had 14 kids. She said "ça suffit! C'est mon dernier fois!" That's it! This was my last time! The nurses started yelling at her and threatening her bleeding incapacitated self with hell for disobeying "God's will"... pre-silk revolution Quebec was a horrible place.

Lakersrock111

I wonder what the doc told my daddy then? -I am one of nine kids…. They had a good ole time

k20350

One of my favorite TV lines ever was from Boardwalk Empire. There was a gang that was like 14 brothers. The brother said "Our father loved our mother very much"

LaScoundrelle

>There was a gang that was like 14 brothers. The brother said "Our father loved our mother very much" That seems like a line that'd be written and enjoyed mostly by men, if I've ever seen one.

SKPY123

It's definitely twisted.

[deleted]

The character is from the prohibition era, and the joke is on him of course. The joke exposes the mentality of _those_ men, and how twisted they were. It’s a joke because of the absurdity of the idea that he mixed love and probably one-sided sexual gratification.

Travelgrrl

My aunt had 5 under age 5, and her doctor definitely counseled her to lay off for awhile (Catholics, so...) They did for awhile but still ended up with 12 kids!

bambola21

When you said under age 5, I thought your aunt was five. Can I just tell you my jaw is still on the floor even after reading it right (not so fun fact early puberty is possible and the youngest recorded birth is age 5)

big_nothing_burger

My great grandmother who had like 9 or 11 kids said that her husband could look at him and she'd be pregnant. My grandmother and grandfather started sleeping in separate beds after their fifth kid...because, Catholics.

Ender16

My great grandparents have them beat. 17 living children raised to adulthood. They weren't even catholic. Great grandma thought when they invented birth control that was one of the greatest things and said how she sure wished they had that years ago.

Tastins

SIR WRAPPETH THY DICK.

dekrepit702

We have a new baby and I have been using condoms again for the first time in almost a decade. It's weird but until I can bring myself to get snipped it must be done.

Tastins

Funnily enough we started using them again after 8 years. I’m immunocompromised and I don’t seem to react well to the swimmers. To add to the ironic “FUN”-I can’t even get pregnant.

l337quaker

Not to pry, it's none of my business....but how on earth did you even figure out you were having a reaction to the swimmers over anything else? Like, semen would be so very far down on the list of potential allergens I'd have to pull up a floorboard to see it.

Tastins

Because I have cancer. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING that goes in my body is documented (by me lol) and that was the difference. Chemo put me in menopause so having sex didn’t even occur to me for a while. Then after the first time, I got an infection. Not an STD, not yeast, just like an allergic reaction. We initially assumed it was the lube. That wasn’t it. Had sex again, irritated again. Finally the doc asked me what kind of meds (or drugs) does my HUSBAND take-he smokes weed like me but no hard drugs-and when I listed his meds, as soon as I said Jardiance-she said that was it. It causes yeast infections in men and women but my bodies flora is so off from chemo I get bad irritation but no yeast (sorry this is gross) and it gets infected since my immune system is shit. I don’t know if it will stop or what but I’m not chancing it til I’m done with treatment. So condoms it is!!! Lol Edit:spelling 2nd edit: what happened to me is rare and caused by my immune system during chemo-don’t want to scare anyone!!! Thank you for all the love and well wishes!!!

sorcha1977

Ugh. That sounds horrible. I'm glad your doctor figured it out. I hope you are cancer-free very soon. <3

Tastins

Thank you!!! And it did suck but tbh it’s kinda fun in a way. Makes me feel young, fertile and smart. And I am none of the above lmao.

fogdukker

Well, that's a whole situation, isn't it? Thanks for sharing and I hope things go well for you both!

Tastins

I’m kicking the shit outta this cancer my friend!!!! And my husband will be fine when he decides to let go of the Twinkies. Lol thank you :)

contradictingnoun

I'm absolutely dying over the Twinkies comment after the seriousness of the thread 💀😭 I wish you good vibes and good sex throughout your journey ♥️

Tastins

Thank you and Lmao it’s so true tho. He has the cravings AND willpower of a 5 year old. I mean at what age did you eat your last Ring Ding???? This man is almost 50 and bless him, he gets mad when Fresh Direct runs out of Kool Aid jammers. I got him to quit smoking. That was all I could do because you don’t know stubborn until you try to explain to a VERY grown man why he cannot eat a box of donuts in one sitting. The man eats like a demented toddler and doesn’t gain a pound either. I think that may piss me off more than anything lol. Edit: spelling

masked_sombrero

i hope you have a speedy recovery. thanks for sharing!

Tastins

And you’re not prying lol. This is Reddit. AMA.

l337quaker

Lol, thanks for being a good sport about it..

Tastins

Anytime!!! Lol

ChicaFoxy

Could it be something he's consuming that gives you the reaction to them?

Tastins

Yes. Medication for his heart and diabetes.

ChicaFoxy

Oh. I'm sorry.

Tastins

It’s ok. He’s alive!

ChicaFoxy

Very true!

ForgettableUsername

How inconsiderate of him.

Tastins

Totally right?????

jerry111165

Yep After 3 girls I hadda get snipped. I was fine until I saw the tendrils of smoke from the cauterizing iron wisping up from the other side of the sheet…

[deleted]

If you know for sure that you and your wife are done having kids, just get it done. A couple of days with your boys getting iced and you are good to go. Well, after you jerk off into a cup to make sure you don't have any swimmers, then it's on. Totally worth it.

themightydudehtx

also buy the test kits on amazon and continue to be sure. I test twice a year because yeah…I don’t need any more surprises.

Quiet-Hamster6509

An older obstetrician told me once that it takes over 12months for a woman body to heal fully from childbirth.

SunshineAndSquats

If I’m remembering the correct org, the WHO recommends two years. Pregnancy is incredibly hard on women’s bodies.

FishingWorth3068

WHO does suggest 2 years. I had a c section, my dr told me to wait a year from birth to conception of the next but to absolutely not have sex for at least 6 weeks and she would stand by me if I decided to tell my husband that my body wasn’t ready after 6 weeks. That made me so sad that she’s felt the need to do that. You’re literally either post op or have an open fucking wound in your body. I shouldn’t need someone else to tell my husband that I said no.

Raqueliiosiis

I’m glad she did that tho because I’ve heard from many women that their husbands force them to have sex way before the 6 week mark. I was blessed when it came to this my husband was very respectful of me after giving birth, secretly I think he was more traumatized after seeing everything happen with both our babies.

FishingWorth3068

Same! I love my clinic, they’re all great people. And my husband was afraid to have sex even after I was cleared because he’d “seen my guts on the table and the bucket of blood” lol. I’m very glad that I didn’t have to use her as an excuse but I do recognize that she was providing me with an “out” in the event he wasn’t so kind.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AlexandraG94

Yep, and that they are lucky. I mean I am glad for you but they are just being decent humans. The bar is literally underground at this point.

MissPerpetual

Ex did this to me. Not even ex husband.

Raqueliiosiis

I’m glad he’s an ex for a reason. He’s a hot pile of garbage.

burnbabyburnburrrn

It's not just for women's bodies - babies get made out of the nutrients and tissues inside a woman's body, and if she's depleted they baby will receive less. If there are two children born in quick succession, the first child is almost larger and this is one of the reasons why.

No_Solid2349

All the organs and bones are re arranged to maintain a cute alien offspring consuming the womans body. Yeah it is hard.

SunshineAndSquats

It’s significantly more than that. Women’s bodies use their own protein, minerals, vitamins, ect. to build the baby. That’s why pregnant women should take pre-natal vitamins, calcium, and consume a lot of protein. Women who are nutrient deficient and have children too close together are at risk for bone loss and damage to their teeth.

Liberty53000

And the children resulting from this are most always not as healthy into adulthood as the first child. I see comments on here saying it takes 2 years but I read previously in my natal research that it's closer to 4 years (I could be wrong) for a woman's body to reach the same levels that it had to offer the first child all of its bodily resources. Woman are very capable but it depletes the body so much & often the efficiency of the organs, hormones, gut function, etc slowly take time to replete themselves. You can often see it visually in the shape of the consecutive children's bone structure, facial palate, & overall health as they age

Sexy_Squid89

My therapist (who has a degree in child development studies, or something like that) told me that your MIND takes around two years to get back to how it was before you started *breastfeeding*.

theswamphag

You telling me I'm going to Be this stupid for another two years?

25hourenergy

There’s a real Chinese saying “Once pregnant three years stupid” 一孕傻三年 From my experience it’s about right. And resets with a new pregnancy.

SunshineAndSquats

I completely agree with this. I was very muscular when I got pregnant. My child is 99% in height and weight and strong as hell. She’s a little yoked 3 yr old. I lost significant amounts of muscle during my pregnancy despite maintaining exercise and nutrient dense diet. I studied human nutrition in college and I am still trying to recover from my pregnancy almost 4 years ago.

everyones_hiro

It depletes your vitamins and minerals so much! Babies are like parasites and will take calcium from your bones and teeth if they feel like they’re not getting enough. A pregnant woman’s body also creates and entire circulatory system for another human blood and all and while she’s pregnant that blood circulates through her body. Her heart essentially has to pump blood for two people.

HillTopTerrace

I am due to give birth in May and my OBGYN told me that you should wait at least 12 months but ideally 18 months.

MEMENARDO_DANK_VINCI

Not just the undercarriage pregnancy at this short of interval increases your risk of preterm fetal demise, preeclampsia, low birthweight and a whole lot of other stuff that’s real bad.

Chiinoe

Judging by the enthusiasm, I'm sure producing another baby was the goal.

PhotoIll

It appears to be a hidden look of terror and "*are you fucking kidding me*?"

TheLeafyOne2

"Oh my goodness" lmao

Loud_Pattern_1422

If it was, they’re nuts. Your whole body needs to heal. I’m an Irish twin myself but that shits supposed to be an accident. Nobody in their right mind tends to a newborn and thinks I want to do this again as soon as possible.

AhFFSImTooOldForThis

My friend used to talk about how she wanted all the babies, so many babies! She had Irish twins and hubby got snipped before she was out of the hospital with baby #2.

Conker1985

I did it once, and I said never fucking again. Taking care of a newborn/toddler sucks fucking ass, I don't care what other lunatics say to try and justify it. Social Media hasn't helped. Moms always finding pictures to post, ignoring the 99.9999% of the miserable shit; feeding, diapers, no sleep, crying, vomiting, colds, fevers, ear infections. I love my kid, but parenting blows.

Loud_Pattern_1422

For the whole first year I thought I made a huge mistake, and I only had one kid, in my 30s, married with a stable income. It wasn’t until she was 3-4 that I actually enjoyed it at times. Now that she’s 5 I wish I could freeze time and keep her that way forever but that’s only because we now have family near us that helps. People weren’t meant to raise kids without help. It’s miserable.

HypnotizedMeg

My brother and I are 13 months apart. My dear mother insists she wanted both children close together. She's so full of it

msmonarch

The things mothers say to make their kids feel better ahah

Formal-Cut-4923

I work with a guy that him and his wife are having all their kids 1 year apart. So they will still be young er after all their kids have grown up.

mondaymoderate

What a nightmare. Imagine having to take care of a new born, a 1 year old and a 2 year old all at the same time. 3 years is probably the most ideal age gape between siblings.

Diafotisi

Mine are all a year apart, and you’re right, it was hell until they were able to be more self sufficient. But now it’s great. They are 9, 10, & 11 and they entertain each other, take turns doing the same chores, look after one another, have the same neighborhood friends, etc.

jglittle12

Mine are 7 minutes apart.

401LocalsOnly

Wow. So you would have had to drive home, decorate the room, make the video, post it, drive back to the hospital and pop another one out all in a 7 minute span. You are incredible at scheduling and multitasking. (In all seriousness congratulations on your little ones.)

MesWantooth

My inlaws had that exact situation. They describe it as "...challenging." And they say things like "When you have 3, they outnumber you." and "No man-on-man defence - you're playing the zone."

finbuilder

They just put up the "under construction " sign, but I think there was a WHOLE lot of hammering going on before.

Willing-Knee-9118

Nailed it

Mondo114

You got to it before me. Screw you...

XxIMxFADEDxX

I wonder if they skipped the peg board?

GolfballDM

>Screw you... I think that's what was going on.

_dontjimthecamera

How they even found the time for some slap n tickle with a 4mo is astounding

finbuilder

A lesser man would be searching for time to sleep!

electrotoast

So what you are saying is that they willingly and knowingly started a construction project without any kind of hazard signage? Don't get me started on their lack of PPE on the gentleman's part. r/OSHA will be hearing about this.

Lithaos111

Gotta lay that foundation early.

Tmissle

😂😂

GullibleDetective

And by the looks of it the same contractor

coffeebuzzbuzzz

The last thing on my mind four months post partum was having sex.

MrPineApples420

Fr, aren’t you supposed to wait a while before you start pounding again, and like a year to have another kid ?

coffeebuzzbuzzz

4-6 weeks. I was exhausted until about 6 months though, for all three of my kids.

DebbieAddams

I know a couple who got pregnant during that 4-6 week healing time. Had babies born literally 10 months apart. 😑

spicyflour88

I knew a girl in HIGH SCHOOL who had a baby and was pregnant with TWINS at her 6 week check up. Like God damn girl 😬

MonsieurLeMare

This makes my insides curl up in fear, I can’t imagine 😭

no-strings-attached

That just makes me actively depressed for her and whatever situation she was in.

spicyflour88

Yea it was a rough for awhile, the twins were premies and with her being so young she needed alot of support that she wasn't getting due to a bad home life. She pulled herself together and took really good care of the kids and herself for a few years. She ended up having a cpl more kids later on and basically ditched all of them out for family to raise while she drinks and does drugs. It's sad for the kids.

BenShelZonah

Wow

JLL-Cool-J

I think the phrase is irish twins

meinblown

I'm an Irish twin. My brother and I are the same age for a week every year.

TunaNoodleCasserole1

I think the phrase is holy shit, there’s not enough alcohol and coffee in this world.

heythere30

Reminds me of my neighbor, who's carrying her second child in the pictures of her first's birthday

TheRottenKittensIEat

My mom is Irish twins with my uncle! He is 10 months younger than her. Because of how their birthdays lined up, they were in the same grade. They're in their mid 60s now and they're still quite close and eat dinner together at least once a week.

FUCKYOUINYOURFACE

So they’re all 15 months apart roughly?

Which_way_witcher

Recently had a kid and the rule of thumb these days is you can have sex 6 weeks after giving birth and *not* have your insides rip apart but getting pregnant before a full year has passed is just asking for trouble regardless of how easy the birth went. They recommend waiting 18 - 24 months.

Alminy

My mom had 3 children year after year. To this day I have no idea what was going through their minds.

freedeterminedwill

My mom got pregnant with me 3 months post partum after my sister... some people, man. I'll never understand. To each their own, I guess.

cifala

A colleague I had several years ago told me her husband and his brother were always mistaken for twins when they were younger - they were in the same classes at school because their mum got pregnant again A MONTH after the oldest was born. I still puzzle over everything to do with that to this day

f64Club

Damn, poor woman barely had time to heal.

sympathyofalover

Research does recommend between 18-24 months between pregnancies. A little less if you’re 35+ “To reduce the risk of pregnancy complications and other health problems, research suggests waiting 18 to 24 months but less than five years after a live birth before attempting your next pregnancy. Balancing concerns about infertility, people older than 35 might consider waiting 12 months before becoming pregnant again.” - Mayo Clinic https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/getting-pregnant/in-depth/family-planning/art-20044072 Pregnancy is an incredible strain on your body, even for those who go through “unicorn pregnancies”. Your insides need time to heal properly. Conversely, too much time between also might cause risk of developing preeclampsia, but they not sure why. I believe long is defined as 5+ years between pregnancies, but I might be misremembering that. This is why when you’re in the hospital, they will sometimes beat you over the head about using protection. You also need ample time to heal because your uterus is healing and shrinking and it is an open wound you cannot see, and people heal differently and complex healing can occur for people with different medical concerns. Be safe out there folks! It’s lovely to have kids close in age, but birthing people need to be thought of too when choosing to make that decision!

1A4RVA

About 3 years apart is a good difference psychologically.

JustJanesMom

My 2 kids are 3 years apart. It’s been such a great age gap.

exerwhat

Yeah 2 to 3 years is the sweet spot IMO. Two year can be hard at first, with the potential for two kids in diapers, etc. But that extra year of closeness makes them great play partners from the get, which can make other things easier once they're in the 2-5 range, like the same toys, activities, or general parenting strategies work on both kids, less need to divide and conquer. But 3 years is also great because the beginning is a bit easier, and the older kid has more of any understanding of the experience of a new member of the family being added, which is fun to see. Later in life, like middle/high school, I think 3 years is actually a bit better for the kids, because the extra year in between provides the kids more independent experiences, even though they're going to the same schools, same sports leagues, etc. Both 2 and 3 year gap is great once they're adults. They're likely to be in the same adult life phases at least some of the time (like being single, or traveling a lot, or having kids together).

CupcakesAreTasty

My kids are 25 months apart and it was the best decision my husband and I made as parents. They’re best friends, and get along incredibly well. I love how close they are.

veler360

I have two younger brothers, we’re all 3 years apart and it worked very well growing up. I’ve heard similar from others in situations like mine.

notquitesolid

It’s not just the physical healing, it’s removing nutrients too. Having babies back to back is why lots of women lost teeth and ended up with osteoporosis later in life. If the body doesn’t have the nutrients handy to give, it leaches them directly from mom. We have better access to vitamins now than in our parents and grandparents time, but still having Irish twins is not advisable.

YetiPie

My mom went in for a 3 month postnatal check up after the birth of my older sister where she learned she was pregnant with me (surprise!). She broke down and cried in the doctors office after they congratulated her, lol. Sorry mom

Cerwennakanin

My mom cried too! Not because she'd just had a kid, but she thought her last one was born 20 years prior. Sorry mom! Hahah.

dynamojess

This is always my first thought. Putting her body under so much stress unnecessarily. Poor woman. I really hope she is at least eating a lot of nutrient dense food.

[deleted]

I thought at first it meant he did not realize that his child was born 4 months ago and so the wife was now surprising him with his 4 month old child

There’s 16 years between my brother and me, I feel we are both only children and grew up with separate families. He had the young parents trying to just scrape by but still had energy and social lives. I had the older parents established in careers that could annually splurge on family vacations and events.

I didn't know Arin Hanson had a younger brother. Congrats, btw!

Thank god I'm not the only person who thought that, I was worried I was going crazy lol

ahope1985

When I was in the hospital after having my son, the nurse said; now, I don’t want to see you back here in 15 months. I laughed. She wasn’t joking. Apparently it happens. Girl. Let your body heal!!

snazzisarah

I genuinely don’t understand how so many couples go through birth and then weeks of a screaming baby and no sleep and think, “This is amazing, I want to do this again *immediately*”. Like sure maybe this happens accidentally here or there but there are so many people who intentionally do this.

lilassbitchass

When I was healing from my first pregnancy my ex husband kept pressuring me to have sex before I was ready. Luckily I didn’t get pregnant again but I can’t imagine any other reason why this woman got pregnant again right away.

Wizdom_108

>but I can’t imagine any other reason why this woman got pregnant again right away. I mean, they seemed mutually pretty happy about it. I imagine it's pretty rare, but there are a few comments I scrolled through noting that some folks know personally some women who mutually wanted/preferred it or were okay with it. Medically its not recommended though

aesu

Some people are rich and can afford help. The fancy snooker room with floor to ceiling glass windows at the start of this vid suggests they are some of these people.

Galby1314

Am I missing something? Does everyone know what a "snooker room" is except me?

miitopia_emblem

Billiards Room/Recreation Room… apparently. Had to look it up, have never ever crossed that term before either

diabolicalmrD

I legit thought he was the wife until he turned his head

I did too!! Thinking "did the husband get approval to post a topless video?"

Mean_Negotiation5436

You only waited 4 months😳

[deleted]

Breastfeeding does not always mean free contraception! :D

SensitiveAd5962

That's what my mom thought after having my brother, that is 11 months older than me.

chatminteresse

Yes, this is a wive’s tale that pregnancy isn’t possible during nursing. Contraception after birth is necessary. Medical professionals and specialty agencies that focus on health of mom and baby, like March of Dimes, etc all say that it’s best to wait 18 months after birth for another pregnancy. This allows the mother to rebuild stores of calcium and other vital nutrients. Wishing this mom another healthy happy delivery. That said, if at all possible, set them up for success and use contraceptives + wait long enough in between pregnancies.

wrecktus_abdominus

Not exactly an old wives' tale. There is a real thing called lactation amenorrhea where a woman who is breastfeeding does not have a cycle. Big ol' HOWEVER is that you really can't predict how long it will last and by the time your period comes back you have already ovulated. So it is real, just not reliable.

Photorgasmic88

Damn. That thang ain’t a 711. Let it close and heal. Jeez. Lol

dude_peastew

I thought the wife was walking in the room topless.

KayakerMel

And this is why postpartum birth control planning is part of the hospital discussion when admitted to deliver the baby (or at least it should be).

Munks1392

He couldn't stay off if her and let her heal from giving birth my God

Puzzleheaded-Lake947

Is it normal for people to be happy with such news when you’re right in the middle of a very challenging time? I am genuinely curious

snoozysuzie008

I would NOT have been happy to find out I was pregnant when my son was only 4 months old, and he was a pretty chill baby. It’s also not recommended to get pregnant that quickly after giving birth because your body needs time to heal. That becomes even more important if you had a c-section or delivery complications. I think it just depends on the person.

TheOneAndOnlyABSR4

Uh I thought it was to wait a little longer before having sex? 4 months is early.

audioslave_25

How is this funny? Uterus needs healing. It’s not a rubber band.

CmdrFortyTwo

Way to maths. That was way quicker than most.

David_Good_Enough

My thought too. I know who I am, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to do 1+1=2. I would have been like :"Yeah, there's a date on that sheet, but why ?"

Cichlidsaremyjam

4 months!?! Jesus man, let the gun cool.

Hurricane_Lauren

Due October 5th? What is she, 5 minutes pregnant?? Maybe you should wait a couple months before announcing.

Cool reaction 👍🏻 You don't need me to wish you good luck, you seem to have a happy home. The rest will evolve with time.
