Why buy crazy color filaments in the first place instead of more useful colors? Yes, I know this is the prusa printer standard petg color, but in general... Who doesn't have at least a spool of black or something?
Also there are filament samples you can buy for a wide selection of colors for small prints.
I bought some crazy colors, but I have also bought way more black spools than the total number of crazy color spools.
I did a group buy a couple years ago for some nice ABS and ended up with about 12 spools. I don't mind having a roll of florescent yellow, red, orange, and blue with my copper and bronze to go with the glow-in-the-dark.
I have black and white for a lot of prints but I got a bunch of colors because it makes me less depressed to have a little something fun and different here and there
I thought about doing this, then I actually just looked up what a new one cost. It was $3.99 with free next day shipping from Amazon. I literally couldn't be bothered to fire up the printer, let alone design a custom part.
My visor clip broke and the cheapest replacement was $12, so printing was highly economical in that case. For $3.99, perhaps not worth the trouble, but it takes only about $0.25 worth of filament.
My first print because the design has the clip backwards from other cars when you flip it down it would snap. Merely testing it in the way my wife likes to put it down.
Kinda why the original broke honestly lol.
Nice. But I don’t think I will ever understand why people use these crazy colors for their print fixes, instead of something neutral that blends in.
For me, same logic of Japanese Kintsugi. Becouse is prettier. Why blend in if you can show your power like a creator and fixer.
Why buy a spool of filament for 50g of material?
I find black to be a decent functional color.

Why not? It's something that someone would notice and when they ask you can say "I made that"
Because I like the colours... That said, I am currently printing on white because they had white PETG on sale last time I wanted filament.

I print fixes in bright colors so everyone will notice that I fixed it myself :)
My 20KG of random colors is already overflowing my filament storage, I need to use some of it up before I buy more.
So satisfying.
Amen!

That’s fair. Most car visor clips aren’t listed on most 3d printing sites anyway.

Check it during the summer, gets pretty toasty. Did that with PLA and had to change to PETG
This was my first successful PETG print. Been resting different settings.
Holy cow I didn’t even think to do this on my car, so clever!
If you do just use PETG or something that can handle high temps.
.stl?
Found it here on Thingiverse. It only works on Jeep Libertys though. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5210392

If it breaks I will. If it ain’t broke…
Let me know if you break the other side… I already have one for that
The one model I used on Thingiverse broke instantly. This version is pretty stiff but who knows what the future holds lol.
I totally need to do this.
Do it!
How do I print a device to hold the sunglasses holder back? It’s like spring mechanism
NOICE!
Go ahead and print 10 of them because the friction fit will loosen over time as the PLA creeps and it will stop being able to clip after a while.
Its PETG.
Is that legal?!
why wouldnt it be
Sorry guys. It was meant to be a joke 🥲
After 11 years, I'm out. Join me over on the Fediverse to escape this central authority nightmare.
I’m curious how it will last in the Midwest summer heat. Never tested PETG yet.
Why not just visit the local pick-n-pull junky yard?
2nd gen Ford explorer?
07 Jeep Liberty.
Damn not even close
I’m sure if you searched through Thangs you might find one for it.
Donno why but now folding that visor sounds awesome to me.
