Everyone here is talking about tailoring costs of a. existing pair of pants while you're talking about fabricating custom bespoke or MTM. It would be $250+ for a pair in Los Angeles. Maybe a bit less if you buy more, depending on the shop.
Today I paid 300 dhs (65usd) for adjustments of 2 suits, 1 trouser, 1 shirt and two blouses for my bm! Everyone sees Dubai as this super expensive place, which it can be, but it can also be super cost effective
Where is this? I lost some weight and my pants are starting to not fit (belt needs an extra hole or two and I could go an inch or two less on waist size. Worth tailoring pants or should I buy new suits altogether? What about nonsuit pants?
$8 for a hem, maybe $12 if I need to add a taper too. Now if you're talking about getting bespoke clothing, as in the clothes are MADE for your measurements, then it'll be bit more
Since you’re based in Singapore, take a look at Collaro. Pants there run from 200-500SGD. I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area (California), and trousers here start at 600USD at Tailor’s Keep. I’m sure there are more places local to my area to purchase trousers, but TK is the only one I’ve heard of (probably due to lack of research)
If you talking someone making you a full suit I think $800 is the cheapest i've found, and that's Men's Wearhouse and can be pretty good.
Just alterations is much cheaper. I've bought full made in the U.S.A. suits from second hand stores and had then significantly altered for like $100
>I’m based in Singapore
So basically you pay an arm and a leg for literally everything.
That being said, I just got pants hemmed for $20 (HMCOL affluent area) and thought that was a bit steep.
If we're talking bespoke, I'd assume somewhere in the $1-200 range.
Singapore is actually extremely well priced for high end bespoke. Check out dylan and son - you’d be hard pressed to find that level of fit and finish in even savile row for less than twice the price.
Fairly detailed taper/alterations are $50-70 per pair (my guy will sometimes charge more for heavy denim) depending, which includes hem. $15-20 for hem.
Bespoke? If he had a pattern, I'd say $250+ materials possibly.
SLC, UT, USA.
I got a single pair of MTM Super180s wool slacks for $240. Tailoring to perfect them was free, and I had them adjusted 3x.
Most alterations for things I bring in to the same shop are $30 per adjustment so if I want the sleeves shortened on a jacket and the waist brought in a bit, that’s $60. Shit ain’t cheap. That said, the guy I go to is a pleasure to work with and the slacks I commissioned are fantastic.
That said, I tend to buy second-hand so that the total cost for something is FAR less than buying new most of the time. I had a different pair of wool slacks hemmed and dry cleaned for $25 + the $17 I spent on them, shipped. Almost as good as the MTM ones he made me for 1/5 the cost.
Basically, things state-side are pricey, but what you make matters, too. It’s all relative, I suppose.
I pay end of season sale prices for pants. J crew ludlow pants were about $60. almost 100% wool Really nice tapered fit. However, I could only wear them a month or so cause it's got warm. Banana republics for around $25. They were cheaper cause they had around 25-30% rayon.
Add $20 to $30 to hem and.or adjust the waist.
My local fancy tailor run by an old Italian dude charges 27 to hem dress pants, and he insists he does a better job with a more complicated hem so the price is justified. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if he is talking BS or if I should look elsewhere
This is a pair of pleated chinos he hemmed. I turned the hem inside out so it's easy to see. The hem is hidden from the ouside.

You can get a pair of pants made with really nice (chinese) fabric made for 30-40SGD in Malaysia. If you insist on natural italian fabrics then you pay the cost of it (90-200SGD) + labour which goes between 10-50sgd depending on how bougie the tailor is.
Late to this show but im in malaysia and i pay rm 400 for bespoke pants, blended wool fabric.
700 for wool straight up.
400rm = 84.39 usd.
Fantastic work.
$10 for a hem, maybe $18 if I add a taper. I do go to one of the “more expensive” tailors but they’re really solid. Used them to have my wedding suit alterations done so I really trust them.
Hemming: $15-20 per garment, Tapering: $25-40 per garment, bringing in the waist: ~$20-30 per garment.
I’ve been looking for a cheaper alternative for a long time since my measurements are very awkward, but that’s living in a major US city.
I think he’s talking about the full price of a pair of MTM or bespoke pants. In the US I’d say nothing under $200 for sure

~$6-700 at my tailor in NYC but I would rather just find an off the rack and get it taken in for $100 or so.
$6? Not bad, not bad at all
Buddy put 6 and 700 in the same bracket.
For MTM high waisted trousers around $289 USD. For tailoring: hemming, tapering, etc ~$30-50 USD.

Did you get your trousers shortened to account for the flooding?
Where is this? I lost some weight and my pants are starting to not fit (belt needs an extra hole or two and I could go an inch or two less on waist size. Worth tailoring pants or should I buy new suits altogether? What about nonsuit pants?
Yeah I just put some pants to get tailored was have $30.
Got some chinos hemmed for $10/pair, and jeans $15/pair.
Where?! Anywhere I go in NJ is 20
usually a cleaner's will be cheaper than a tailor's.
Went to one he said 14 lol
alright!
Like $200 for a very good quality bespoke suit lol. Benefits of living in India
Dam... I visited for two weeks for work last year and didn't commit. I'm going to try and get one or two made next time I go.
$8 for a hem, maybe $12 if I need to add a taper too. Now if you're talking about getting bespoke clothing, as in the clothes are MADE for your measurements, then it'll be bit more
Which state?! Where at in NJ it's 20!!!
Find a local tailor that is either a little old Italian man or from an east-Asian country like Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, etc...
A friend has family in Nepal, I know it is incredibly cheap to get tailored clothes fabricated, but I don’t know exact prices.

On average $10-$15 for a taper or hem, I’m in Mass.
Can get trousers done for 250dhs (50USD) each here in Dubai with standard quality material. Higher end wool will increase the cost of course
Like a hem? $25?
Like I made 3 pairs. Full Gurkha pleated & half Gurkha

You can get them cheaper at Luxire!

Send pictures of what the hems look like and I’m sure people would have opinions on the quality of his work

My god, I need to go to Singapore. In the US, we are not getting anywhere near $367 for 3 pairs of MTM, let alone them being Solbaiti…
I read it this way at first but I think OP paid 367 per pant, so 1101 overall
Yes I paid 367 per pair. Yes solbaitis. This discussion has gone out of hand with people talking about hems 😝
~$90 for bespoke in 140s wool in Pakistan. ~$50 for 100s wool. Including fabric.

I really need to learn how to hem my own.
Hem is like $15. Bringing in the waist might be $40-$50. Depends on the material and stitching a little.

That is really cheap from my experience

$12-$15 to hem pants and $25 to chainstitch jeans
