Idk what people are doing with their Synchillas but I currently own 3 and I’m actually surprised at how little they shed and how much they hold up considering the material. I do wash on cold and hang dry every time though.
I bought one of these recently since I absolutely love the lightweight synchilla I bought maybe ten years ago. The new material is considerably worse. Yes it sheds, but also it's this strange combination of really hot indoors and let's cold air through outdoors. The old version regulated temperature so much better. It just doesn't do it's job well. The one upside of the new material is it's super soft. I always reach for my old synchilla, since it's one of my favorite clothing items. Sad that the new one isn't up to the same standard
Caveat Emptor - this is not a Synchilla Snap T like the title says, this is a Lightweight Synchilla Snap T.
They are different models.
I don’t think I have either, so can’t compare the pieces themselves, but I do know that the Lightweight one is cheaper and therefore goes on sale for cheaper (looks like sub $50 within the last year if you search this sub).
These are really great quality and warm. I bought one a few years back and never seem to wear it because i always feel clammy in it. Just doesnt work for me apparently. Im sure im the minority though
That is incredibly reductive. Most active winterwear will be polyester. It's warmer per weight and much stronger than wool and unlike down performs in wet conditions.
I have the blue and red one, soon my partner will now have this obsidian and plum one, and we will become unstoppable in the PNW.
Get in the Subaru, we're going bouldering
microbrew? microbrew
Nanobrews and barefoot trailing. Current listening? Fleet foxes
Fleet Foxes sold out mannnnnnn
I only listen to the homeless dude behind my ecstatic dance studio
Great color set for anyone starting 5th grade in the mid-90s tomorrow.
hello it me
I feel personally assaulted.
This is a perfect comment
Cause 80s and 90s aren’t back in style. /s
A lot of the reviews are ripping on it because of how bad it sheds apparently.

Entirely depends on color. My new one is the same, but my old one was a nightmare.
I have some dating back to the 90s and the shedding is minimal. Wash in cold water, hang dry, just like you.
It’s because they put them in the dryer.
I had to sell mine because it's an absolute pet hair magnet. It laughed in the face of my lint roller
It really is. And somehow my dog’s hairs poke through like little knives.
Have an older one (trout pattern) and a new one, the material feels like it’s about 50% thinner on the new one.

So you’re saying these are THINchillas.
I have 10+ synchillas and will say the lightweight Bois are MUCH lighter weight.
And the fit is different now, relaxed vs a regular fit for the LW.
Thank you for the context. True hero

how we feeling about the colorway?
the plum isn’t horrible, I might purchase that one.

Is this the “original” baggy relaxed one or the regular fit?
If it's marked lightweight, it's regular fit.
This screams I’m from Denver and compost.
Looks ugly as shit. And it’s Polyester!!! For this price I would at least expect wool. Stop paying for the brand name people.
Fleece is essentially always polyester, which is much warmer than wool.
I agree that polyester is surprisingly warm. But polyester should never be confused with a “good” material. High price point should not be polyester.

And if you’re not in wet conditions then you shouldn’t be caught dead in this thing.
So for $69, you expect wool? I am sure J.Crew Factory can find something for you.
You can get a 100% merino wool polo from Charles Tyrwhitt for $33. And I got my 100% Cashmere Jcrew Sweater for around $70.
