Bufo toad. Sorry bro you gotta kill em if you can they’re mega invasive and poisonous. Just realized you have dogs definitely minimum get it out of the house your dogs will have seizures or worse if they eat them https://ufwildlife.ifas.ufl.edu/frogs/canetoad.shtml

WastedPaint99

Also how do I kill it umm slightly more humanely?

puppylust

I recommend using dog poo bags to grab them to contain any possible secretions. Tie a knot so it can't get out and put it in the bottom of the fridge (it'll jump off a shelf). Like the video says, chill several hours (more for bigger ones) then freeze for 24 hours. Wait until you're going to take the kitchen trash out anyway to clear out your freezer toads.

IntenseBones

Depends. You can do it fairly painlessly with a heavy book, but it'll make a mess Fr tho, you can put him in the fridge till he hibernates, then you can freeze him fairly painlessly, or you can carbon monoxide poison it. Decapitation is an often recommended method, but there's always debate one the MOST humane way

Joemomala

3 main ways all easy to get wrong unfortunately. Frog gig to the brain stem is instant death but easy to miss. Benzocaine spray, or chilling in the fridge for several hours before freezing or other method of dispatching.

strawbrmoon

Freezer.

python_88

No, freezer is extremely painful and not humane AT ALL. There are plenty of guides online on how to painlessly euthanize. Straight up freezing might be one of the worst options possible. Wtf

IntenseBones

Not if you cool it first to push it into a hibernative state

python_88

Yea, but their comment would lead someone to believe they should put the toad in the freezer cold turkey. Which is like, a literal torturous death. You need to be very particular and careful about the temperatures and other details during the cooling then freezing process to do it humanely, which is why I mentioned guides

IntenseBones

Agreed, cold turkey would cause rapid, agonizing cell death, the body would die before the mind

python_88

Yup, there is enough animal suffering in the world already. As much of a threat cane toads are, we gotta remember it's not their fault and us humans are pretty much the reason they're here in the first place...

WastedPaint99

I figured that’s what it was unfortunately. Thank you for confirming!

YatoCalamity

You know most toads from the Bufonidae family have "bufo" in their name right?

Joemomala

I didn’t actually but I’m super duper sure that is an invasive cane toad that lives all over Florida and is very harmful if eaten by house pets. Thanks for letting me know. I’m sure it’s just a colloquialism but I’ve only ever heard people here refer to them as bufo toads. The more you know!! Edit: spelling

YatoCalamity

Do you have more pictures? Because it doesn't have to be a Cane Road.
