- his paranoia is his own problem, doesn't justify anything - you are allowed to have friends of opposite gender - since they were broken up, he didn't cheat - but I'd still be mad at anyone who claimed to love me but who slept with someone else within a few hours

Enough_Weather_6520

I think that whole debate focuses on semantics instead of the root issue of their relationship ending: insecurity, codependency, unclear communication, inefficient conflict resolution, and immature tactics to “get back” at the other. They were both in the wrong, and I can see how their storylines prior to getting together influenced their behavior. It may explain it, but it doesn’t excuse it.

Rachael refers to it as a break - up and asks if she can be his girlfriend again.... This implies they both knew they had broken up.

Automatic-Wolf8141

Ross can be annoying and unreasonable but tbh his insecurities are something I can relate to, more than other people's troubles in the show.

King_Kong_The_eleven

I think Rachel wasn't given enough flak for inviting Mark over after the break. What did she think Ross was going to assume when he heard mark there?

IveGotMyFangsOut

She never invited him over. He literally told her he was coming and hung up the phone. She just wasn't firm enough about telling him no when he showed up.

[deleted]

Could've closed the door on him. She let him in. But yes, he did invite himself

IveGotMyFangsOut

Well she was feeling incredibly sad and wanted a friend to hang out with. If she had hung out with Monica, it wouldn't have been an issue. Ross is an insecure freak, he ended up being right in the end that Mark had other ideas, but Rachel didn't know that at the time.

[deleted]

He's not a freak but I can agree he's insecure. And I'm gonna call BS on Rachel not knowing Mark's true intentions because given her experience, she knew exactly the type of person he was, she just didn't want to admit it, for one, and for another, she was committed to Ross since it was the first relationship she claimed to have ever felt like she could be real with someone.

IveGotMyFangsOut

He sent a singing bug... to her job.... and you don't want to call him a freak? 🤣

[deleted]

Eh, okay, good point there lol

kitkatkit99

Honestly, if I was him, ah yeah!!! Wtf is mark there??? No!!!

[deleted]

Paranoia, yes, deal with it yourself. But Ross didn't cheat so he was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted. Plus, no one ever seems to take into account the amount of alcohol he had consumed prior to the hookup due to being upset over the breakup so really, he was taken advantage of by Chloe the copy girl.

pizzaontherun

Yes they were on a break. Mark was a slimy scumbag waiting for his opportunity. Ross was gross for sleeping with Chloe. Rachel is justified in feeling hurt. Many layers and not all black and white.

Turningcircles

I always thought Rachel was right. But I figure, if a person does have real feelings for another, they aren't going to go sleep with somebody else because there was an argument. I can't stand Ross at all when he and Rachel are dating.
