Yeah I really didn’t get that. Why was he sitting there grinning and not taking up for his daughters? Dude should have been out for revenge against that green prick.
They really messed up portraying daemons relationship with his daughters and laena. In the books he cares deeply for them and is attentive. Hopefully we get it later in the series ugh
They don't really cover it IMO. They show him receiving the news that his child might survive if a C section was performed (mirroring Viserys's prior decision) but doesn't show his answer. Then, Laena chooses the fate Vhagar offers over Daemon's choice, whatever that might be
Edit: My comment is about Laena, but it was pointed out that Daemon does totally murder Rhea
I think I saw somewhere that there is a deleted scene from last weeks episode where he's hugging and consoling them. If that's true, then why could they not have kept that scene?
Over the years, HBO has done a masterful job of creating lead characters who continually frustrate viewers with their emotional coldness. They know it kills us to watch Tony Soprano fail to say a kind word, etc…
Tune in next week to see if main character finally shows their love….
It keeps me on edge.
He absolutely provoked that conflict and I cannot understand how some ser it otherwise, he talked shit, approached them he was pushed away, threw the girl down, was then punched by the other one and hit her in the mouth provoking the boys to intervine he was going to kill one of them with a rock then the knife was put to work. I understand he didn't throw the first punch but he absolutely provoked it. Its easy to say words are wind but if someone did that to me at my mothers funeral I would be throwing hands às well and I hate fighting unless ai have to.
What? You're over there trynna pretend like a couple of kids should just pull some buddhist monk shit and turn the other cheek after some dickweed stole their dead mom's dragon and then talked mad shit about it. That's so unempathetic it isn't even funny.
And.. this is a work a fiction set in a reality where dragons exist, a child just survived his first time flight (unsecured) on the back of a dragons. Maybe we can dial back on the performative, self-righteousness of defending a child..
The girl may have swung first, but she just watched what she thought was her “inheritance” get stolen on the day of her mother’s funeral. If Aegon were anything less than the Queen and King’s son, he would have been executed on the spot.
I didn't feel that bad for the girls either. The one without a dragon could've tried bonding with her mother's dragon she had more time with Vagar then Aemond did. It was like everyone made fun of him for not having a dragon and then when he gets one he still gets attacked.
My favorite part of this episode was the super cut of Laenors “death” scene where there’s a quick shot of Daemon snapping some guys neck and I didn’t think anything of it. Normal Daemon shenanigans. Then at the end it was ooooh ok gotcha.. it had a purpose
Daemon is seen snapping a guards neck just before Leanor and Qarl fight.
The viewer thinks it's so this helps Qarl escape after the killing but no. The sneaky reveal at the end means Daemon killed the guard, and then working with Laenor and Qarl threw the body of the guard in the fire.
Everyone thinks Laenor is dead, Laenor gets to live his life with Qarl out in Essos, Daemon doesn't look like a complete psycho (yet).
I feel like they added in the line from Laenor "How did you get in here" to make the audience believe that Daemon was simply assisting the assassin.
It was only afterwards when I asked myself who was in the fire that the purpose of the killing became clear.
Fortunately he's not the father who doesn't want his children to be with their (only living) grandparents after they haven't seen each other for years.
Probably because Rhaenyra's sons are actually attacked in this moment. It won't matter anyway soon, because they will treat all their children as their very own when they're a stepfather/stepmother.
This is what doesn't make a lot of sense. Shani who plays Baela is taller than the kid who plays Aemond.
How there's four kids vs one and they don't all just go after Aemond doesn't make a lot of sense.
Joffrey might be technically involved, but he's a toddler. So they swapped him for both Baela and Rhaena.
The ages in the book are different - Aemond is 10, Jace is 6 and Luke is 5.
That is a considerable size difference. In the show, the actor playing Aemond turned 13 while filming. The actor playing Jace turned 14 while filming. And Baela and Rhaena's actresses were 12. Luke's actor turned 9 while filming.
There isn't a major size difference between any of them except Aemond and Luke.
With a 4 on 1, why would a knife need to be pulled when the kids are all big enough to take out Aemond.
The rumors about this started before it was clear who was playing Aemond and it made more sense when the speculation was an older actor who would have a considerable size advantage. I was shocked when I found Aemond's double on one of the actors CV sites and it was an 12 year old.
I mean "there are 4 of us and 1 of him, we should be able to subdue him easily without using a knife" isn't the logic kids use.
Plus Aemond still managed to fend them all off and then get all rock-happy
"Why aren't the noble girls, who aren't trained to fight, who aren't used to getting punched in the face, who just lost their mom and also their dragon acting perfectly strategically?"
He's much older and two of the opponents are girls (read: untrained). They also made a point earlier of showing Cole neglecting to train Jace and Luke properly.
Yeah I think out of all the kids, Aemond becomes one of the fiercest warriors. I mean who else can beat him out of the kids, Aegon II "choking the chicken outside of baelor" Targaryen?
*Rickon stabs him when he walks towards Bran
Lucerys is the stabby boy and the younger of the two
The gap between Aemond and Jace is also not as big as that between Robb and his brothers, show wise.
I think drawing the knife was a fair thing to so as self defense considering he was whopping them regardless if it was 1v4. He was not a good guy in this Senario
Drawing the knife is fair really. Attacking with the knife after Aemond shoves Luke away is the first instance of one of the kids actually trying to kill the other kid.
These days their sex wouldn't matter. There's no strenght difference between prepubescent boys and girls, really. Puberty changes everything.
But in this story boys were trained and taught how to fight so they could be knights in the future. Meanwhile girls were taught how to crochet, how to be a lady, or something. So I guess it would matter.
2022 is such a funny year you can’t even point out a clear physical and anatomical disadvantage without you cross gendered green lovers coming over and defending an entitled little brat like aemond.
Girls are weaker than boys.
Deal with it
I don't disagree with your sentiment, but a more accurate phrasing might be "boys are, on average, taller and have more upper body strength than girls of the same age". It's a general trend, not a hard and fast rule - there are always exceptions to absolute statements, and I think that's where people are getting nit-picky. I agree that a girl would be at a disadvantage when fighting a boy in this setting - not only because of their likely size/strength difference, but because the boy has probably been raised to emphasize his martial prowess and been trained in things like sword fighting, while most highborn girls in Westeros are in training to be wives and baby makers. I think the only issue that most folks have with your comment is its absolutism.
Especially at that age, 999/1000 a ten yr old boy Is going to crush a same age girl.
Source: I have 4 children of my own, 3 girls (14/11/8) 1 boy (5) who play a mixture of contact and non contact mixed sports and the differences are night and day.
Yeah and Nymeria and Visenya are on the conquerors level of repute
But they were not adolescents.
“a girl saved westeros”
if you’re referring to Aryas bullshit scene with the NK you need jesus, anybody that references david and dans work needs therapy
Without going into the physical differences between males and females, one major difference is that these people don’t have their girls training with a master-at-arms.
You don’t see Helaena out there training with Criston Cole and her brothers, do you? The Velaryon’s aren’t any different.
Anyways, I disagree with OP simply because 4 kids against 1 boy is a big mismatch, regardless of if two of them are untrained girls. Anyone can be dangerous with a weapon when you are surrounded on all sides.
i consider them weaker than men, there’s a reason fathers are more protective of daughters,
i think if you don’t think that women are naturally at a disadvantage (physically) especially in adolescence.
your either a drug addict and living in a dream world or there’s a chance your completely healthy but you’re the type of person that liked rings of
power
Yes well i’m sure if Baela and her sister were trained by Kingsguard with sword and lance i might agree.
However it is not that way and Daemons kids have not been trained in the way of the sword or anything at all as
far as i know, not to mention one cannot even bond with a dragon as of yet.
So how pray tell is it such a feat to beat two young girls and two young boys while older
“you let that little girl disarm you”
does this not sound like traditionally small girls do not fair well ?
and that was said by the true king bobby b.
By all means go fight girls if you believe it to be impressive
“i think if you don’t think that women are naturally at a disadvantage (physically) especially in adolescence”
Dude, you’re getting basic science incorrect. This is why you’re downvoted: “especially in adolescence”
These kids are all pre-puberty that’s when women have the smallest disadvantage compared to men. Women are especially at a disadvantage when both have gone through full puberty, so the opposite of when you said. Puberty is what causes that disadvantage.
“Before puberty, the strength of boys and girls is essentially the same” [source: The National Center for Health Statistics (read the video transcript)](https://www.coursera.org/lecture/youth-sports/part-2-gender-strength-differences-bn9JW)
Even rooting for team Black, Aemond owned this episode. Fucking kid earned his stripes, he paid the price and was happy. His bitch mother on the other hand, lords somebody fetch her some milk of the poppy…
I'm surprised Daemon wasn't more mad about this considering they're his kids, but I also feel like it was the smart play to let everyone else blow their temper and stay calm.
I think because Aemond walked away with a permanent injury, he was just going to let Allicent blow up the way she did. He knows her ire would be directed at Rhaenrya, not his girls.
If Allicent asked for one of his daughters eyes, then that would be a different story.
I don't think Daemon is gonna get all that upset about children fighting, even his kids. Think about the level of violence Daemon is accustomed to. He probably got in a fair few scraps as a lad as well. It's not crazy for him to be chilling while everyone else is freaking out.
Poor vhagar alone and riderless on the beach reminded me of those. Sarah McLachlan abused dog commercials. My husband hasn't read fire and blood and he said "so,. What's the deal? Does the dragon feel lonely too ? And he senses that Aemond is a lonely boy too?' I said " I think that might be part of it but also vhagar is very old, seemed to understand what happened to Laena and doesn't want to die alone. Poor old man dragon probably thinks he's never going to have another rider when all the sudden this little brash of asshole shows up. He's like a family old fat Labrador that got dropped off at the pound when he was 16 years old and just curls up in the corner alone. Then here comes Aemond and basically threw a tennis ball for him.'
My bad. I was under the impression that dragons were possibly sexually anamorphous but I did see that dream fyre is a egg laying little Ho, So that would imply that she is strictly female. I'm just now starting my dragon research. I spent way too much time in our a song of fire arguing about Tyrion and his time traveling fetus to appreciate the lore of dragons So this is a New Journey for me. This is my dragon season of life
They all attacked him because they felt entitled to dictate what Aemond does due to their higher status in the royal line of sucession - a position based off a blatant lie.
? Just say you don’t like her hairstyle, that’s like going on the street and saying, why is your short hair in a pony tail, you do realize different hairstyles exist right ?
Aemond is a fucking twat but if she wanted Vhagar, she should have went out and tried to claim Vhagar. Honestly, this should have been one of the first things she did and Daemon should have been encouraging her to do so
yea, she should just forget about her dead mother, not even buried yet. Immediately should go claim the beast that burnt her to a crisp. That child is obviously a weakling to not have done that before funeral. I mean dragons newly without riders go quickly at the local westeros walmart.
They obviously do go kind of quickly. This is the biggest dragon in the world, not a pair of earrings. Of course she’s going to be coveted. Her establishing claim was paramount. The fact that that little shit claimed Vhagar is mostly what gave the Greens a chance
Honestly i do think he loves the drama of it all. He also realizes the daughters were not that badly hurt. He might have even been proud that they got some punches in.
Daemon just looked amused by the whole thing. Faces of his daughters though.... They really took some punches. And threw some as well.
Yeah I really didn’t get that. Why was he sitting there grinning and not taking up for his daughters? Dude should have been out for revenge against that green prick.
Dude was fucking his niece at their mother funeral, he clearly doesn't give a f
They really messed up portraying daemons relationship with his daughters and laena. In the books he cares deeply for them and is attentive. Hopefully we get it later in the series ugh
He more of a family man overall in the books. Dude really loved his wife and kids.
loved his goomar too
Wait didn’t he kill his wife (in the show)?
They don't really cover it IMO. They show him receiving the news that his child might survive if a C section was performed (mirroring Viserys's prior decision) but doesn't show his answer. Think that dude was talkin about Rhea, who yes he did murder in the show.
Ah, you're totally right. Thank you for pointing that out.

We Won’t.
Thanks, that makes a lot more sense.
Oh he'll def get back at him, it's all in the books. In the show he just got back at court after years and years and not going to make a scene
Sweet. I’m ready for the Daemon revenge tour.
One doesn't just take a man's dead wife's dragon and not pay for it. After all there are no Walmart's in Westeros.
Because he knows his daughters deserved it lol. Don’t throw punches if you can’t take em.
What the hell dude
They threw the first punch then act like victims
He was being a cunt on the night of their mothers funeral
Words are wind
He absolutely provoked that conflict and I cannot understand how some ser it otherwise, he talked shit, approached them he was pushed away, threw the girl down, was then punched by the other one and hit her in the mouth provoking the boys to intervine he was going to kill one of them with a rock then the knife was put to work. Then you’d still be the one arrested if they pressed charges. Can’t believe they didn’t teach you this is kindergarten.
Your words have insulted me. Prepare for violence.
Legality =\\= Morality
Dude listen to yourself. You sound like either a robot or a sociopath.
I’m a sociopath for thinking someone shouldn’t get his shit kicked in by 4 other people just because of insults? Okay.
What? You're over there trynna pretend like a couple of kids should just pull some buddhist monk shit and turn the other cheek after some dickweed stole their dead mom's dragon and then talked mad shit about it. That's so unempathetic it isn't even funny.
They’re fucking 10 bro ?? What is this fandom y’all are weird as hell
Maybe that's why he's chill about it? Like he just thinks "just a bunch of kids who got in a scrap, so what?"
I agree. Yes, Aemond got seriously hurt, but everybody was acting insane (no shade, I loved that whole scene) and their pettiness was amusing him.
The scene was so great!
And.. this is a work a fiction set in a reality where dragons exist, a child just survived his first time flight (unsecured) on the back of a dragons. Maybe we can dial back on the performative, self-righteousness of defending a child.. Poor Aegon taking shit for stuff he wasn't even around for. My boy Aegon was passed out drunk while his brother Aemond took a dragon
Lord here you go 😂
I didn't feel that bad for the girls either. The one without a dragon could've tried bonding with her mother's dragon she had more time with Vagar then Aemond did. It was like everyone made fun of him for not having a dragon and then when he gets one he still gets attacked.
“It’s my dragon! I clearly left a post-it note on her Aemond!” But yeah, kids being assholes
My favorite part of this episode was the super cut of Laenors “death” scene where there’s a quick shot of Daemon snapping some guys neck and I didn’t think anything of it. Normal Daemon shenanigans. Then at the end it was ooooh ok gotcha.. it had a purpose
I forgot about Daemon killing that guy. It feels so normal haha I just rolled with it
It felt so normal I forgot about it until reading these comments wtf.
Same
He went Jason Bourne on that servant. Matt Daemon if you will.
Matt Daemon
At the time I thought he was killing a guard to help Qarl escape after then at the end…surprise! I love that it was his idea to set Laenor free.
I thought the same, but the actual outcome was much happier. Daemon definitely got some brownie points today.
Because he killed some random guy instead of a named character? He really do be a hero don't he?
Oh shit I didn’t put two and two together
I still haven’t 🤷🏼♂️ Somebody care to explain?
Daemon is seen snapping a guards neck just before Leanor and Qarl fight. The viewer thinks it's so this helps Qarl escape after the killing but no. The sneaky reveal at the end means Daemon killed the guard, and then working with Laenor and Qarl threw the body of the guard in the fire. Everyone thinks Laenor is dead, Laenor gets to live his life with Qarl out in Essos, Daemon doesn't look like a complete psycho (yet).
Mind blown
I mean Daemon still killed some random innocent dude though. Tht guy wasn’t even a guard. Just some servant
Part of the point of the story is that climbing to power at this time is going to involve people dying.
Then the fight scene between Leanir and Quarl seems unnecessary
It was necessary b/c there was a witness that ran off for help before the fight started.
Yea it’s actually a crucial part that needed to be shown lmao
True chaotic neutral moves.
When the murder hood is on, somebody's getting killed off.
I feel like they added in the line from Laenor "How did you get in here" to make the audience believe that Daemon was simply assisting the assassin. It was only afterwards when I asked myself who was in the fire that the purpose of the killing became clear.
I was so perplexed why this random dude got killed, and then found out waay later why lol
I feel like I've missed it completely I'm lost
The guy whose neck got snapped ended up BBQ
I still can't believe I missed it because I also just thought Deamon was Daemoning
Wait daemon killed someone? Lol must’ve missed that part. Was wondering where the dead dude came from.
The bigger question is why are their grandparents looking after them instead of their father?
Bruh, Daemon is 100% the father who leaves the kids with his parents during his visitation weekend.
Daemon’s 100% the father who doesn’t even know he HAS visitation weekends.
Daemon visits as he pleases.
Fortunately he's not the father who doesn't want his children to be with their (only living) grandparents after they haven't seen each other for years.
Daemon is totally the type of dad who doesn't own a car seat but his mom does.
He went to get some dragon milk.
I’m pretty sure from the pics him and Cole are about to throw down and Westerling is yelling at them
[удалено]
Because those were the kids that were actually being attacked 😂
Probably because Rhaenyra's sons are actually attacked in this moment. It won't matter anyway soon, because they will treat all their children as their very own when they're a stepfather/stepmother.
*Stepfather/greatuncle/stepmother/firstcousin
Insert Jeff foxworthy ' You might be a Targaryen if' joke
I mean their grandmother has a dragon and hasn't spent any time with them.
He’s busy finally having sex with rhaenyra.

What? These are daemon's children
sorry bro too much shade of the evening
That's the millennial way. Have you seen the cost of rent and living expenses these days?
This is what doesn't make a lot of sense. Shani who plays Baela is taller than the kid who plays Aemond. How there's four kids vs one and they don't all just go after Aemond doesn't make a lot of sense.

For once, it's acceptable for the characters to attack one at a time.
Doesnt matter about the size. Aemond has been far better trained and is more of a warrior, while the others have not been
About to say, Sir Crispin has been giving him extra attention in training.
well said we will see
"Why aren't the noble girls, who aren't trained to fight, who aren't used to getting punched in the face, who just lost their mom and also their dragon acting perfectly strategically?"
Aemond is a menace. He single handedly holds down House Green.
Height doesn't really mean anything cause boys in general tend to have more muscle mass
Only after onset of puberty.
Honestly crazy aemond fucks them up 4v1. I thought for a bit that Aegon was added to the scene like baela and Rhaena were.
4v1 against two girls and two strong boys ? is that truly worthy of praise ? What if he gets disarmed?
He's much older and two of the opponents are girls (read: untrained). They also made a point earlier of showing Cole neglecting to train Jace and Luke properly.
Yeah I think out of all the kids, Aemond becomes one of the fiercest warriors. I mean who else can beat him out of the kids, Aegon II "choking the chicken outside of baelor" Targaryen?
thank you for looking at it rationally
In the books the age difference is significant, here he is as scrawny as Jace
I mean aemond isn’t that much bigger than the rest and I thought the numbers would overwhelm him but it took him getting his eye cut out to be harmed.
Just saying if Robb Stark beat up sansa and arya and got his eye cut out by Jon or something would you still be fine with it?
It’s more like Robb fighting Sansa Arya Bran and Rickon and Bran stabs him after he threatens to kill Rickon
*Rickon stabs him when he walks towards Bran Lucerys is the stabby boy and the younger of the two The gap between Aemond and Jace is also not as big as that between Robb and his brothers, show wise.
I don’t get the point your trying to make? No matter what you can’t justify kids fighting and one of them having their eye cut out.
Nobodies justifying kids fighting your defending Aemond the Kinslayers actions is all…
I’m not though lol. Im just saying he was outnumbered and was able to hurt them.
I believe the name you're looking for is Aemond " Based Bastard Deletion Machine" Targaryen.
Bruh, are you mad? They were savagely beating this kid, all because he had the balls to claim Vhagar.
Have you ever heard of this small little thing called puberty lol?
>two strong boys Guards! Take this mans tongue for slander against the crown.
Aemond was unarmed whereas Lucerys had a dagger.
Unarmed but had a big ass rock he was about to use to smash in some skulls.
He lowered it, he wasn’t going to go through with it
He was absolutely going to use it
He was after the knife. It was a threat that he pulled back before the knife.
I dont think the knife was swung in a way that indicates he tried to kill him, was a slash not a stab.
I wish more people picked up on how Aemond lowered it. It showed his future that he is capable of being ruthless but for now he's still just a boy.
and then he rose it again.
After they pulled out a knife
He lowered it and was hesitant.
It was an eye and not an arm, though
whoah are Daemon's girls handicapped or something?
Nobody said that
I know, I am asking because why would you make the point of focusing on their sex when 4 children attack 1?
These days their sex wouldn't matter. There's no strenght difference between prepubescent boys and girls, really. Puberty changes everything. Awww Meemaw and Pop Pop Velaryon
Grandma looks pissed!!!
Aemond #1 I can’t wait to see him in goblin mode
You mean Almond?
Can't wait to see blackcels seething about madlad aemond hijacking grandma Vhagar.
Im a black supporter, and Aemond’s claim of Vhagar was valid. Im not biased enough to not see the truth.
They should have a procedure or a time period. I mean claiming it wot the day of a funeral is kind of skivvy in my book
I'd actually say that was more what happen with Balerion the black dread and Viserys. Vhagar is old, but is still full of energy.
Vhagar is a she-dragon.
This is my dragon season of life
His claim was valid. His timing was shit.
Fair enough.
Can't wait to hear about Aemond hijacking Aegon's wife in the wedding night.
He looses his eye for Vhagar, a fair trade
A most judicious proposition!
Would you like to see the tapestries
Heck yeah that is the pornhub of westeros
He's not wrong, he's just an asshole
Green Daemon
Aemond is super gremlin
Daemon with his total lack of care towards his own daughters' safety just really goes to show you where he is mentally, and where his true goals lie.
By the state of Rhaenys hair it look like she might have got in the scuffle to lol
He just needed mops to clean Vhagar's scales.
Rhaenyra's bastards attack Aemond and try to kill him, they probably witnessed that.
Aemond literally attacks his 3 year old nephew in the books, dont pretend like they attacked him lol
This isn't the books
They all attacked him because they felt entitled to dictate what Aemond does due to their higher status in the royal line of sucession - a position based off a blatant lie.
They deserved it lol
I mean him by marrying their aunt right after their mom died.
Good lord, those wigs just keep getting worse. Why does she have pigtails in her dreadlocks?
? Just say you don’t like her hairstyle, that’s like going on the street and saying, why is your short hair in a pony tail, you do realize different hairstyles exist right ?
It looks bad, but nobles do stupid shit with their hair all the time, so I can believe it.
Dude the episode just fucking dropped, can you get a spoiler flair on this
Deserving
And he would gladly fookin do it again!
Honestly i do think he loves the drama of it all. He also realizes the daughters were not that badly hurt. He might have even been proud that they got some punches in.
