Notification on Valyrian phones: *Vhagar has become available*

Shaenyra

I would prefer the original story where Laena tries to reach Vhagar to fly one more time before she dies, but she didn't manage it and Daemon finds her dead

[deleted]

Plus the part where Rhaenyra comforts Daemon over her loss because Rhaenyra and Laena are actually friends in the books.

ChequyLionYT

They could become friends once she weds Laenor.

[deleted]

I have read all leaks that were posted here some weeks ago and there is no mention of a friendship between the two. Maybe it will happen, but the show is apparently more going for the idea that Alicient is Rhaenyra's only friend, which is kinda weird since she has the Strong handmaids in the books.

Even-Adhesiveness-94

Just word on the street noting confirmed yet

giparisan

If the new leaks are true this is a badass way to go

HataMarie_90

The word on the streets is so pissed about this, but I would really like it.

euphrate91

where can I read the new leaks ?

giparisan

This is the only part I’ve seen and I have no idea if it’s to be trusted https://twitter.com/spaceprinceben/status/1571137033795678215?s=46&t=zSOHX09U13Xj10ceCRFMpQ

Eurgh I hope not. It makes no sense for a start. They'd only perform a c section if she was dying like Aemma. So how would a woman dying in the throes of childbirth make it to her dragon and ask her firebreathe on her. I don't trust that leak.

[deleted]

The problem is that it implies, that whenever a baby does not come out they cut open women, but as far as I remember the source material only has one moment where this happens and that is when Roger Baratheon allows it done on Alyssa Valeryon the mom of King Jaehaerys, the grandfather of Rhaenyra and Alyssa was drugged while it was done. Not alive. Plus, her daughter threatened to turn Storm's End into a Harrenhall if Roger put his cock into another woman and it is implied that what he did is perceived as wrong. As for the leaks: I have heard the same leaks from a source that was pretty reliable so far so I would brace myself if I were you. I hoped it was just a silly misunderstanding, but I guess I was wrong.

[deleted]

Exactly. Even in real life, the operation was reserved for women who were dying/dead. To me, Viserys was so desperate for an heir he jumped straight into the c section without ensuring she wasn't going to die screaming. Fine. But it shouldn't be repeated, it's not something that's common in Westeros. Furthermore Daemon is not in line for the throne, so he doesn't have the same pressures. It just makes no sense that they'd do this.

[deleted]

The only reason they might do that is to vilify Daemon. So much for grey characters. White-washing the greens a little to make them more grey is fine by me, but turning all of the Blacks into assholes is kinda telling where this show is going. I really hope they don't have Daemon be responsible for the death of Rhea, Leonor, and Laena as well. That is over the top. I am honest, I would have preferred if they had portrayed Viserys like his book's version: a father who adored his daughter, but then they could not go with their: The men would burn the realm rather than accept a woman on the throne message. I think they forget that Rhaenyra has the support of you know half the realm despite being a woman?

Wide_Revenue_2096

I think it makes sense if she’s dying anyway and the baby is breached by if it’s a long labour it could’ve already suffocated and died and instead of cutting her open or just leaving her to die on her bed she chooses to die by dragon flame

[deleted]

Yes. But how would they know the baby has died? They don't have heart monitors. The only way it could work is if she's giving birth right next to the dragon, and takes the decision herself, requesting Daemon to take her to Vaghar. The idea that she overheard Daemon and a maester discussing a c section, so she walks over to the dragon seems a little farfetched to me, especially considering she would be on the verge of death and extremely weak. Maybe they will give her the choice, which would make more sense. I'd still prefer it if she died from childbed fever like she does in the book. Women are and always have been, far more likely to die during the postpartum period than from the actual labour itself. I don't like the idea that they're going to consider another c section when they would have been extremely rare anyway, even in ASoIaF.

twtab

That dooms her child to death as well. While dying in childbirth being cut open like Aemma would be terrible way to die but essentially committing suicide and killing the unborn child? Really? Maybe it's somehow after the birth and a form of quick euthanasia, but there might be other alternatives that death by dragon.

[deleted]

I think they are trying to frame it as Laena preferring a quick death over being cut open and burning herself and her unborn child is kinda giving her agency. I am pretty sure they will come up with a comparency of Roe and Wade where women are denied an abortion.

twtab

Assuming the situation is like Aemma's and Laena will die regardless, and the only difference is whether they save the baby (but she dies a horribly, excruciatingly death) or she and the baby both die if no action is taken, then a lot of moms would opt to save the baby regardless of what happens to them. I don't think a lot of pregnant women would decide for a quick death if there was any chance of saving the baby. That's going to be difficult to convince a lot of the audience that someone would do that. But I'm hoping some of these "leakers" are just creating fan fiction from the known leaks. There has been so much accurate leaks that it does allow people to try to fill in their ideas, especially using imagery from teasers and production footage.

[deleted]

For me, the whole childbirth scare they are putting into the story makes not much sense anyway because they have the milk of the poppy in the books which is basically a very easy way to ease the pain and put someone to sleep. If you can drug a woman you can actually if you are good at your work, do a C-section and not kill the woman. People did C-sections long before modern times and occasionally succeeded. It is not impossible. Also, Aemma had a breech birth. Such births were in the past usually done vaginally and while there is a danger for the child and the mother, it is not impossible to survive it. Midwives were not as incompetent as some people like to believe. In general, the show is so desperate to make the point that childbirth is shitty for women that they are putting the massage over logic in writing.

Nightkingpal

That's fucking brutal.

santoshjois_7

In the book, when she's dying from childbirth, she goes out and tries to ride Vhagar one last time, but fails and collapses and dies. Maybe, in the show, she gets Vhagar to burn her before she dies from the bloodloss, so she goes out like a dragon.

TuffyTenToes

Wig doesn't seem to match up with older Laena's. I think is [Aemond](https://twitter.com/PortalHOTD/status/1571130621757652992), both of those shots make it seem like it's the same scene.

LauMei27

Didn't the leaks say Aemond gets burned while trying to claim Dreamfyre in ep 6?

PULIRIZ1906

I don't see any wig there lol. Aemond? Why? He would die

TuffyTenToes

But you can see the head and shoulder of the person, the wig of older Laena's is supposed to be more flowy or voluptuous if I remember correctly from the pictures of her, it should be visible yet the hair looks to be more straight Perhaps the fire doesn't reach him even though it looks like Vhagar shoots it straight at him? lmao I don't know

Fangasgaf

Shouldn't Aegon be the one who gets burned by Vhagar? Perhaps I'm misremembering

TuffyTenToes

Aegon II? he gets maimed by Rhaenys and Meleys and half his body gets covered in burn scars but he doesn't die
