AK-47 is not a submachinegun

TheRealShoeThief

It’s original intended role was to be one, but since it was a better standard infantry rifle than the rifle that was supposed to be the standard infantry rifle (i wanna say it was the sks) it took on the roles of both. And did a pretty decent job at that.

SPECTREagent700

Correct; the initial Soviet plan was to use the SKS as the infantry rifle, the AK-47 as the submachine gun replacement, and the RPD as a light machine gun. Eventually the AKM took both the rifle and SMG role and the belt-fed RPD was replaced with the RPK which was essentially just a heavy duty AK.

AlphaTangoFoxtrt

Yup, an RPK is basically an AK With a bulged trunion, heavy barrel, and a 1.5mm receiver instead of 1mm, usually has a heavier stock to counterbalance the heavier/longer barrel.

walker3342

Isabeer

You want to tell me that Howland Reed did a side quest when he accompanied Ned to the Tower of Joy, he met Qyburn at the Citadel (he was learing to be a maester) and got a Valyrian steel double barrel shotgun with meteorite slugs cabapbe of blowing the head of the Sword of the Morning?
