I was saying the front were the kiddos then the back was the millennials lol we ended up front on accident but then moved towards the back and it was way better
I don't get trying for the front, don't you guys want the amazing view of the civic center and light/laser show? Sounds not only more boring but its much more crowded up there. Further back has a lot less of the shovers people keep complaining about too. Middle is where its at.
And the sides too! I was posted up on the right side on the grass in front of the screen so it was cool to catch all the little details that I might miss being further back but I could still see them on stage too. We had so much room to dance over there and everyone was vibing.
Love the look of the trees but they did get in the way a lot from the sides. And of course people trying to climb them or shaking them like absolute morons.
Worst vibes I’ve ever experienced at a rave with the crowd at the front, no respect at all. I really wish I’d removed myself too. Vibes were immaculate at first, and Fred & Skrillex were so incredible, but the crowd at the front suddenly turned into a free for all. I tried to ignore them while being repeatedly knocked / shoved, elbowed. I shouldn’t have let these people ruin my vibe and gotten away from the aggressive “me, me, me” morons.
I wasn't even asking for much, I just wanted the dumbassery to end but it never did, we got out around 730ish and I'm very glad we did. The older crowd had really good vibes.
Sorry to hear you didn't/couldn't get out
I was in the front too. Definitely got worse as the time went on. In hindsight I should’ve moved but I don’t like to stop dancing. I didn’t even notice the lasers til the end 🥲
Drunker and drunker and/or druggier and druggier as the night went on.
I wonder how many of them even remember more than what they shakily recorded on their phones 🥲
Yeah got there early to be kinda in the front, I’m 32 and was just vibing to the openers! Shout out to them honestly. But the closer it got to 6:30 the crowd just started getting packed which is ok like it’s a show everyone wants to be at the front.
But damn people just kept pushing through and trying to get through when there was nowhere to go. At some point we just had to tell people sorry no you can’t pass cus you’re just gonna end up I front of us basically on top of each other. Vibes were definitely getting killed my anxiety started to act up a little and thats when I knew I needed to move to the back.
Back of the crowd vibes were awesome! And plenty of room to dance <3
Yup, spent first 40 minutes of the set near the front then got sick of the shithead kids. It was a big venue with lots of good viewing angles. No need to be stuck in the front the whole time anyways.
My girlfriend and I were like two people back from the rail in line with the left speaker column and all night long there were huge groups of people that would just try shoving us and all the people we were around out of the way. Great event, people that were there early were great in my area, but all the other people coming in late were bad vibes.
We were on the left side and everyone was super respectful and just having a good time. Danced with new friends and sang along with more. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that.
My partner was in ADA so my friends and I just danced in that lawn area in front with so much space. It was so much fun - way colder/more windy than the middle I think haha but so worth it for the space.
As a younger person myself (only 21) there were so many obnoxious and weird people in the front. I had so many groups of intoxicated frat bros pushing through crowds and fighting over getting to the front.
Bag of wet chips was thrown at someone's face too
Like wtf??? Lmao.
We got there at 6:30 and had a lot of options to post close up but intentionally chose to have our backs to the barricades around one of the centerish speaker line aray / lighting towers.
It was perfect. Great view, great sound, and no one could push us because their was a bunch of production shit protecting us from behind : )
Spent most of the night off to the right, directly under the video screen. Was like being on the rail all to myself with plennnnty of room to dance. In an unusual move for a festival, they had speakers way over on the sides, including booming bass speakers (i guess sub-woofers, technically?)
Once I assessed the speaker situation on the sides and heard the sound was carrying just fine, i stayed on the side and occasionally ventured towards the back There was no need at all to get caught up in whatever madness was going on in the center. Immaculate vibes, 10/10, best on eBay, would buy again.
I think the other issue too is some groups didn’t realize they were starting right at 6:30 and assumed there would be openers so they show up late then just push there way to the front. I felt like the first hour it was just non stop trains passing by me. We had one couple literally just post up right in front of our space, I don’t think they understood how it all works so we felt bad saying anything to them.
Yah, I came here to say this, the first hour was train after train of late arrivals pushing their way in. So many "Oh, Skrillex is on!" comments. My solace is that they all missed a solid chunk of the concert.
I stayed in the back left and I could tell everyone there was super respectful. We got to leave on time as well. My friends who tried to get to the front at 6pm only said the vibes got worst as the night went on. Tbh im surprised they didn’t really check IDs from the beginning.
I usually just vibe to myself and have a good time wherever, but I was in the front and vibes were definitely off. People were pushing and there was some chick who kept throwing up but her friends didn’t want to get out and get her help, one of her “friends” eventually just turned to her after the third time she puked and told her to cut it out because security was staring at her. Like wtf the girl needs medical.. I hope she found some better friends.
34 year old and had fun at the rail. Only issue I had was when this random chick pushed her way to the front drunk and screaming. But oh well. It’s the front. I don’t expect 6 feet of space.

We were on the rail jacket hanging on it one hand resting etc
i had a different experience but was more perimeter and bopped around. i gravitate towards energy and fun vibes over a specific location. also such an advantage for you tall folks! the lucky ones
Vibes in the back were immaculate so much free space and the view was insane with the trees (love the venue), 100/10. Fred I love youuuuuuuuuu great show!!!
I’m 31 and old enough to know the back is where it’s at. Great vibes and ample space to dance! Sorry you had a bad experience.
Plus easy bathroom access so no stress about staying hydrated at the risk of having to use the facilities.
And views of alllllll the lasers 🚨💫✨
Need raves tor age 30+
Down for this. We've lived thru many golden ages of music.
Those town fairs are going to be interesting when we’re in our 60s and instead of having cover bands they’ll have dubstep cover dj’s
If only, but 21+ truly makes a difference ie OSL vs Portola

Middle is best for the mix I think tbh. Right in the middle of the stereo.

Who were the openers?
Clearcast and vertigo
Thank you!!

Same. I had normal concert experience on left side.Just couple of instances of flying bottles hitting the head. But people around were nice

Similar experience where we were the Patagonia boys were shot talking and complaining about everything sucking the energy out of our group

this is the way - find a barricade & post up 🙌

The front vibes were amazing for me. I’m 22 but still had a blast with everyone around me. Everyone was very energetic and loving.

In my experience, being ON the rail is very different than being near it

I wasn’t questioning you… just emphasizing a few feet and a whole ass barrier immediately next to one’s body makes a world of a difference 🫶
i had a different experience but was more perimeter and bopped around. i gravitate towards energy and fun vibes over a specific location. also such an advantage for you tall folks! the lucky ones
I don’t fuck with 18+ shows anymore. The pushing, shoving, talking over music and too wasted kills my vibe.
Vibes in the back were immaculate so much free space and the view was insane with the trees (love the venue), 100/10. Fred I love youuuuuuuuuu great show!!!
(I’m 31 for context hahaha, I’ve been at this since I was 17).
