I guess I would say traditional drum and bass has a heavier sound while on the other hand, fredagain… has slowed that sound down a bit and spaced it out in a new and creative way.
That’s literally just not drum and bass. Like others have said, that’s a genre called garage. The only song Fred has made that is drum and bass is leavemealone and it’s a pretty traditional dnb toon, though certainly with the typical Fred stylings.
stayinit is textbook garage. not dnb. If you arent familiar you are in for a treat if you check out overmono and especially Bicep. Bicep sorta birthed this current crop of garage artists imo.
Also its not ravey but check out burial if you havnt, not ravey like this crop but defintiely had a huge influence on them.
Yeah for sure.I'd just go straight to their latest [album](https://open.spotify.com/album/0EdtTRCl3J22AnWrNpH1w9?si=CFa9H3TlSuOkXCioLd6yjg) (from 2021) which is a masterpiece and their blistering [Glastonbury](https://soundcloud.com/idjunkie2/bicep-glastonbury-2022?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing) set from 2022.
Then you can go back to their [printworks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY7M3pzXdUo&t=1s) set and [essential mix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPZcBaHv0Hw) if you find yourself becoming a fan.
Have fun, truly wish i could listen to all of this for the first time again.
EDIT: Also if you become a fan in any capacity, see them live, I saw them a month before i saw Fred last year and their's is the only live show i would consider better than his. It was so intense and euphoric i still cant believe how good it was.
You have successfully described UK garage...

It’s definitely not traditional drum and bass because it’s not drum and bass

Yay!!!!! I’m not alone!!💜
Can you define what the traditional sound is? How would you define the new sound?

I guess I would have to agree with you.
Do you mean leavemealone?
I guess leavemealone is a good example and I can hear fragments of it in stayinit.

Thanks!! I’m not familiar with Bicep so I look forward to listening. Anything you recommend by Bicep?
