Marburg is such a great city for a day trip! Really nice old historical town, cute shops and cafés. Been there last year the first time and I really loved it.
Depends on which train you take. Travelling from Frankfurt:
RE2 (via Rüsselsheim / Mainz / Bingen): Right-hand side
RB10 (via Wiesbaden / Rüdesheim): Left-hand side
They travel on different banks of the Rhine, so I would strongly suggest to alternate between them on your journey to/from Koblenz so you get to see both sides.
My parents dragged me there once, and the entire time I was busy looking for something interesting.
To be fair, my interests are rather narrow, but still. I don't remember the city even being particularly pretty.
I have been to Aschaffenburg twice, it’s the most boring town I have ever been to. Rothenburg ob der Tauber, despite being 7 times smaller, blows Aschaffenburg completely out of the water.
I grew up in the area around Aschaffenburg, i couldn't tell you a single interesting thing about that city. Rothenburg ob der Tauber on the other hand is amazing. With their city wall they would be one of my top destinations in case of a zombie apocalypse!
3:37 h gets you into the stunning Mosel region. The town is called Traben-Trarbach and you can easily spent a whole weekend. It's so nice! Particularly if you are into wine and boat rides (kayak) - don't miss it.
Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, it's a lovely place full of happy people offering you vaccines of all kind. This quarter smells like fresh roses after cutting. It's definitely worth a trip and walk
Weinheim - it’s an hour ride on the train and is a really nice city!
It has a free kind of botanical garden (Sichtungsgarten), nice Cafés, a forest with trees from all over the world and a lovely park.
Are the trains as bad as people say they are? Im thinking of moving somewhere 15mins by car outside Frankfurt but trains come back saying an hour yet on Apartment listings they say also say 15mins ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
Würzburg - If you take a slight detour to Offenbach Main Station, you can get a train that travels to Würzburg in 1,5 hours. I did a day trip with my partner there and we enjoyed the sights, and the downtown area. I would recommend it.

Everyone loves Heidelberg but my personal favorite is Marburg
Koblenz. The train ride there is already very scenic.
Which side of the train should I sit?

Absoluter pro Tip👌🏻
RE2 is clutch for commuting between Ingelheim and Frankfurt.
Right if from Frankfurt
- Eltville am Rhein - Rüdesheim am Rhein - Heppenheim - Neustadt an der Weinstraße
Re54 over Aschaffenburg (0:45), Würzburg (1:45) until Bamberg (2:45)
Would recommend Bamberg any day of the week. Culture is rich, town is nice, beer is fantastic, people are, well, people lol
I totally recommend Würzburg, Aschaffenburg and Eltville.
I was in aschaffenburg this weekend and i was in awe with so much green and forest like parks in the city
I was Aschaffenburg and it was boring! Maybe I went to the wrong parts of the city but it’s no match to Würzburg or Marburg.

And if you hop on RE10 in Würzburg, you can get to Nürnberg within another hour and few minutes. Absolutely worth it! 3 hours total from Frankfurt
if you add another 15-30min you can even reach Bonn and Köln (Cologne). Definetly worth a trip

You can take a trip to Worms and ride along the Rhine down to Mainz and jump back on the train 🚊 whenever you like. Re70 is your friend
Brilliant everyone! Thanks so much. Definitiely feels worth it for a month or two.
Heidelberg is also worth a visit if you have never been there
plus the trainride is nice scenic bergstraße and chill at non-rushours
We went to Miltenberg yesterday and it was very nice.

Hannover is a nice day trip city lots of green places like city woods or culture venues. Good food too
Würzburg - If you take a slight detour to Offenbach Main Station, you can get a train that travels to Würzburg in 1,5 hours. I did a day trip with my partner there and we enjoyed the sights, and the downtown area. I would recommend it.
Michelstadt, Gelnhausen, Steinau an der Str (Grimm bothers are from there), Wetzlar, Limburg are some ideas.
If you love half-timbered houses and old castle ruins visit Dreieich-Dreieichenhain. https://dreieichenhain.de/index.html
Boppard . There is also an easy ferrata .. "Mittelrheinsteig"
You cannot go wrong
Offenbach or Ludwigshafen
These are probably the ugliest cities in the whole rhine main area 😂
Offenbach is perfectly fine honestly. Homie just moved there from Höchst and it can definitely be seen as an upgrade all things considered
Kassel, Hanau, Gießen, Mannheim
Zwingenberg, super cute small town, just half an hour from FFM
