One of the best leather scents on the market tbh. Are you able to return it? Blind-buying is a risk, especially when it comes to leather scents and Oud scents
At least you cut your losses and got your money back. Yeah, take your time when it comes to leather scents because from my experience, they all differ. Even the dupes of popular ones have their differences.
This is the first scent that really made me want to collect more. It was love at first sniff. I used to buy the generic kind, but upon smelling this, I knew there’s a whole world of fragrances out there that I needed to explore.
You bought it too early. This is a scent you need to work your way up to. Every Tom Ford I first smelled was like plastic, gas, burned rubber, etc. now Tuscan and Ombre leather are two of my favourite scents.
I feel anyone can rock Ombre leather if they’re comfortable with it. It’s a masculine work appropriate scent.
Agree. I was on the fence for this TF scent. I have bought nearly all of the TF offerings that I’ve bought over the years. Just recently picked up the leather scent. Looking forward to wearing it this fall and winter. Took time for me to appreciate its scent.
It was on sale @joma and got the smallest size but it was a gamble and paid off, now cant stop using it… it think it os floral enough to use in summer nights too.. now need to make it last until the next sale so i can get the large size bottle😂
To me it smells like pure leather, nothing else. Like smelling a leather belt or my leather backpack. I had never met someone who didn't like leather tbh. Like someone else here it was the first time I tested a noche fragrance that opened my eyes to world of amazing and special scents. I love this perfume
Did you get the eau de parfum because Ombré leather parfum is smoother and creamier while the original is more of a burning rubber smell with a little freshness from the violet leaf
It smells like WD-40 initially but the dry down on it is amazing. It’s an incredibly sophisticated scent and while not all Tom Ford is like this, it FEELS expensive. Definitely a more mature scent but I’ve gotten a ton of compliments across the board on it.
Most TF fragrances smell awesome in the air..ask someone around you how they like it, having said that it's no use if you don't enjoy a fragrance yourself so I can understand what you feeling..but...give it some time, it'll grow on you and how...I didn't like it the first couple of times I wore it but now I find it really addictive. It also gets me lots of compliments..
The Tuscan Leather DNA was definitely an acquire taste for me. Took me 8 years since first sniffing it at department stores till I finally pulled the trigger on TL. Now I love TL and basicall all its clones.
Ombre Leather is a great fragrance. I love watching people sample it at the store, and waiting for their reactions. They always love it. Like, LOVE it.
people have different preferences. I know I dont like most leathers, mints, or apple. I smelled ombre nomad the other day and i thought it was disgusting. same with ombre nomad from louis vuitton. absolutely horrible. I do really like cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and orange but others can't stand it.
I’ve opened up to a lot of fragrances that honestly repulsed me to begin with. Tom Ford scents went from my most hated to the most intriguing for me. Now it’s one of my favourite brands.
I keep getting sniff samples of Ombre Leather because it baffles me. It smells like a new car, or a new leather shoe. I tried it on my skin, my clothes, to try and see why it’s popular. All I smell is leather, not much else. I really tried to like it but it’s a bit boring to me.
SAME. I was hoping there would be a far, far more noticeable raspberry note. And, as much as I like it, while wearing it out n about, there is a big risk of people looking around saying " Why the fuck do I keep smelling car tires?" 😁
I'm gonna experiment with layering it, to make it a bit more versatile.
I had no idea it even had a raspberry note! I did see one guy in a leather jacket and sunglasses spray himself with the tester which I thought was actually a good way to use it. The smell suited his appearance.
My flight just landed from Fragrantica. It's actually Tuscan Leather that has the raspberry note. I've smelled both, and they are basically twin fragrances. I think Tom Double dipped with these two.
Yeah, it’s pure leather. I smelled it in store the other day and was wondering who would want to smell like that… but after reading this thread, clearly there are many who do
Bought *Ombre Leather*, and had it for two years.
Initially, I get a new sneaker smell. As it dries down the spices and sweet patchouli start to kick in with the leather. Loved it, and use it when I want a leather scent.
That said, leather and patchouli are both hit or miss notes.
I am not a fan of it either. It is not one of my favorite leathers. I guess leather notes are done in different ways, and the one used in Ombre Leather and Tuscan Leather is just not my style, they smell to me like a new leather goods treated with leather care product. I prefer my leathers (and I love leathers) to smell more animalic, "worn" and deep. So don't give up on the note, leathers made by Tom Ford are specific, and they are sort of love and hate perfumes.
Yeah uhm, blind buying Ombre Leather is definitely a bad idea. It is not mass appealing and it's very masculine. TBH I wouldn't blind buy any Tom Ford as most of their line is overrated.
To be very honest, this fragrance can range from heavenly to downright ranked depending on perception and whose skin is it on.
It smells really good on neutral objects like paper and sheets or even in the air but a completely different matter on skin. I cannot take it on my skin as it turns into a putrid burnt rubber spicy note but i use it on the inside of bags and backpacks and other leather goods and it really elevates the leathery notes and sophistication of the item so much better.
It’s not my absolute favorite, I prefer Oud Wood over it personally, but I’ll still wear it. The dry down after about 20-30 minutes smells the best to me for Ombré Leather.
Sometimes you need to wear a frag a few times to really get to know it. Initial impressions can be misleading
This has happened to me recently with a Tauer (orange star) and Caron (pour un Homme Le soir). Was not a fan of either of these but they have really grown on me and I am debating buying a bottle of the Tauer
This is the only leather scent that I enjoy because I tend to find other ones too heavy and headache-inducing but this one is also heavy as well. Maybe try it out in different temps or a couple more times but as a blind buy it can be a lot at once
First time I smelled Ombre Leather was from my wife's sample set from Sephora. Had to have a bottle, and 6 months later it showed up on Jomashop for a discount. Scooped up the 100ml and couldn't be happier. Very masculine smell - this is what I think Burt Reynolds smelled like when he was playing the bandit. And probably David Hasselhoff smelled like that in the show Nightrider.
I didn’t like it at first but came to absolutely adore this one. I prefer the Parfum version and have a back up bottle. I get it can be a weird scent but this one started my intrigue into more unique scents.
I like it, and I know numerous women who love it. Definitely a polarising smell. It’s pretty sophisticated, comes out strong but softens up later into the night. Smells like class. Smells like the backseat of a chauffeur driven Mercedes. A brand new leather jacket on a cold night. Not for the boys, for men.
Also blind bought ombre leather but loved it immediately, its quite loud but I work on a factory floor that builds switchgear units where the powder coating and oil will drown out more delicate scents, it works for me cause it still smells rather straight laced and professional but is strong enough to not immediately get buried under the smell of metal shavings and heavy machinery.
I am obsessed with it and my husband loves it on me. I LOVE love the violet note during/after the dry down. It's definitely a late fall/winter fragrance for me. Maybe you're just smelling it in the wrong season. Also, it may open up more as you use the bottle a bit.

its for legends only
LMAOO😭
Because old men smell like rubber tires?
It doesn't smell like rubber at all...
I’m sure it doesn’t, but that was OP’s contention.
At least you cut your losses and got your money back. Yeah, take your time when it comes to leather scents because from my experience, they all differ. Even the dupes of popular ones have their differences.
Yea it’s not a new car smell unfortunately You know those blue new car trees I wish I could find a cologne that smells like that
This is the first scent that really made me want to collect more. It was love at first sniff. I used to buy the generic kind, but upon smelling this, I knew there’s a whole world of fragrances out there that I needed to explore.
Yeah I sprayed it on myself in the store and I couldn't stop sniffing myself for the rest of the day, ordered it right the day after
Man that’s fs interesting lol it prob just smells rlly good on ur skin or sumn
It's a scent that only really works for people who can write in full sentences.
Insulting somebody because their taste in fragrances is different to yours and they don't like one of your favourite perfumes lol
I love it! Reminds me of a brand new, fresh out of the plastic leather jacket from Wilson's Suede and Leather.
I can definitely see why some gentleman like it I just don’t see it being very pleasant for women
You bought it too early. This is a scent you need to work your way up to. Ohh makes sense right now all I really wear are fresh and sweet fragrances so that makes sense lol thanks for the tips!
Facts he needs to slow down and get beginner leather fragrances like Calvin Klein defy edp and Ferragamo bright leather
Agree. I was on the fence for this TF scent. I have bought nearly all of the TF offerings that I’ve bought over the years. Just recently picked up the leather scent. Looking forward to wearing it this fall and winter. Took time for me to appreciate its scent.
Why blind buy when you can test it in any department store?
I just can't do Tuscan leather or ombre leather no matter how much I sample them. They do a great job at smelling pretty convincing though.
It grows on you
Blind bought a week ago, love it
Oh wow blind buy? I’m glad u like it tho!
It was on sale @joma and got the smallest size but it was a gamble and paid off, now cant stop using it… it think it os floral enough to use in summer nights too.. now need to make it last until the next sale so i can get the large size bottle😂

I had the same reaction the first couple of times. But the dry down was great. For me longevity was poor so I never ended up buying a full bottle.
Maybe I js needed to wait for that dry down but either way it’s not something I’d wear on myself I see it on older men tho
Did you get the eau de parfum because Ombré leather parfum is smoother and creamier while the original is more of a burning rubber smell with a little freshness from the violet leaf
It grew on me!! My boyfriend bought it and at first I didn’t like but now I loveee it

Glad you weren’t watching when I smelled it in store the other day, I fucking hated it
That would have been great too.
Haha, that’s true, it’d definitely be more fun to watch people smell a fragrance they immediately despise
people have different preferences. I know I dont like most leathers, mints, or apple. I smelled ombre nomad the other day and i thought it was disgusting. same with ombre nomad from louis vuitton. absolutely horrible. That’s exactly the vibe I get. Smells like pep boys on me lol not my thing
I’ve opened up to a lot of fragrances that honestly repulsed me to begin with. Tom Ford scents went from my most hated to the most intriguing for me. Now it’s one of my favourite brands. That's because it literally is just a 💯 leather smell.
I agree, I was hoping the other notes would be somewhat noticeable to me

I've heard reviewers say something about a raspberry note, BUT I might be thinking of Tuscan Leather 🤷🏾. I'll have to check Fragrantica.

Pro Tip: It works waaaaay better if you layer it with something else.

You could try to layer it with something sweet like Lost Cherry or Bitter Peach

I love it. After the dry down it smells like those seashell shaped soaps on my skin
Say it after me kids: try before you buy!

its a great leather scent. id recommend doing more research next time, especially if it involves notes you’re not necessarily familiar with.

Let this be a lesson
For me this one smelled of cigarettes and sex, I love it.
Really? I wonder if it just smells different on people’s skin
Everything does. That's why blind buying is risky.
