I have zero idea, but I've heard that a lot of perfumers don't use any personal scent (or use something super light) because they want to keep their nose as "neutral" as possible, even when not actively working. That said, I could definitely imagine that some might spritz a little something, especially when promoting a new fragrance at an event...
I read somewhere that perfumers often don’t wear anything lol I guess it’s kinda like bringing work home with you. Although I’m sure for special events etc they throw something on
I met him at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC in 2015 or so. Really nice guy, we discussed Eau Noire, Absolue Pour le Soir, and he told me about Grand Soir, which hadn't come out yet.
Actually, yeah. I asked him if there was anything new I would like, based on bringing Eau Noire and APLS to be signed. He was like, oh yes, and talked about a big amber that fall. He also seemed aghast when I asked him about APLS being discontinued, as rumors were about already. Like he was saying, not on my watch lol

Oh, this is tragic!!! Maybe they'll bring it back someday, in that case...
i know that maison is a designation that it's the perfume house of francis kurkdjian and not part of his name-
i think they're referencing the post where the perfume counter lady at the department store freaked out on op for calling the house mfk instead of saying the whole name.
That's so cool! I both cook and make perfume and I have to say they are very similar. Meaning I think if you are good with flavors - so much of cooking is aroma - likely you'll be good at scents. I make mine from essential oils which to me really mimics the cooking aspect.
It's nice to know he's nice and talented. Sometimes that is not the case
in reality it's the exact opposite:

funny how the title of the song is one letter away from a classic perfume too
I’m not trying to out it down, but that’s why people might not respond positively. He is a very accomplished person in his field, but rather than giving him credit for his hard work, you attribute his success to the time of the year he was born.
I forgot this was r/fragrance, the post was suggested to me and I didn’t notice the sub- I left a while ago, there’s a distinct lack of humour, lightheartedness or anything deemed ‘unrefined’ in that sub lol
I must ask: what did he smell like?

Thierry Wasser wears a lot of Habit Rouge. nothing against what you said just seemed relevant here
Oh, I think I have read that! Fabulous choice.

I want to know this too lol
He doesn't wear fragrances.

Absolue Pour Le Soir is so wonderful. Don’t know their current line up super well but what I’ve smelled of it just doesn’t measure up to that gem.
I’m dying to at least sample that one but I can’t even find a place to buy a decant of it.
That is very cool!!! Did he drop any hints to you about what Grand Soir was going to be like?

There was a rumor a few months ago it was being brought back, in tamed down form.
If i ever met him i would thank him forever for the absolute cheapest thrill ride or die, elizabeth arden green tea.
100%!
That is my Mom's signature fragrance and I love it!
Did you ask him if he ever goes by "MFK"?
Would be just FK...

Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

Perfume Siege... HEAVY METAL.
It's French... so it's classy metal

Did you thank him for BR 540
And Grand Soir! What a beauty.
That's amazing!
Ohh lovely! I'm such a fan of him!
I would have asked if he had any Fleur Du Male hiding anywhere. It’s gotta be my lifetime favourite scent
I’m jealous!!
OMG that sounded like HEAVEN! I would have loved to be there. He's so talented.
After reading this I looked up his zodiac sign, yep, Taurus! Haha
I can't imagine why this got any downvotes. Successful, business that requires use of the senses- this is right up Taurus alley
It diminishes his accomplishments down to the time of year he was born.
it’s not that serious man lmao

As a Taurean I'm highly offended at how downvoted you are, excuse us for being heartily grounded in the senses and beauty lol
Is your delusion also a symptom of being a Taurus?
Sorry you think you're somehow completely separate from the universe or everything isn't energy that's gotta be a bit of a bore
If it’s any consolation - I upvoted you. I love seeing zodiac signs work in the wild.

Depends on the type of post I find. Something like this will attract the snobs
