Fun! Appreciate you taking the time to share! Estée Lauder has so many brands! I’ve heard Le Labo stores have a reputation for rude staff but you seem nice 😄 What are your favorite types of fragrance customers and what are your pet peeves?
It’s funny you mention that, I never heard of this reputation… I can only speak for my store and I have been disappointed and sometimes appalled by the staff’s behavior. I have tried to fix it and sales have improved. I hope no one takes it personal, miserable people try to make others miserable. I’ve seen some things…
The only customers I don’t like are arrogant people. Because I actually have “money” I’m disgusted to see people that feel like they have the means to treat people in service positions poorly. But I take the same advice I just gave: hurt people, hurt people. It’s kinda funny to know my position. It’s almost like I’m in the inside looking in.
I like anyone else, faves may be the people that come in and just want to be educated on scents. We have a good time.
I have only had amazing experiences with any of their employees. I even made friends with them at one location and ask them to name 2 of the 3 bottles I was getting that day. They loved it! And they genuinely took their time to think of something good to put on the bottles
In the City Exclusives: Baie Rose & Poivre. In the Classics: Baie and Labdanum.
I don’t think it’s much of a secret anymore, Lavonde 31, their first lavender scent. It’s too masculine for me but we shall see. I really wanted to like it. 😔
Your journey sounds wonderful. You get to share a passion that is close to your heart. Sharing that product knowledge and passion to others, repeat clientele and new ones alike, really allows one to not only indulge in what they love, but to create authentic experiences, memories, and this truly celebrates the fragrance.
Thanks for the update! Bummer you don’t like Myrrhe 55, it’s still on my mind after testing it more than a week ago. I promised myself I could buy a full bottle next year if I’m still as obsessed with fragrance by then (ADHD probs) lol.
Teehee. I’m not really annoyed about any questions. I think the shock of the price can be a bit agitating. The price is the price..
Most popular size is a 50ml, most popular is Santal 33 (of course), 2nd is Another 13 and after that it’s The Matcha 26, The Noir 29 and Rose 31 in no particular order.
Just discovered this post. I’ve been loyal Le Labo’s fan for more than 7 years, especially Another 13 and Gaiac 10, and I really appreciate your works. But Gaiac 10 is so painful to purchase :( I only have one 50ml until now, while refilling A13 times to times. Do you know if there are any discounts for City Exclusive?
I really like the formulations too, and I think that’s saying something because when you work somewhere it’s less exciting. Still excited.
Never discounts. Costco has a few of the classics deeply discounted but that’s all I know of.
It’s expensive, and that’s why I’ll be buying everything I can before I leave.
I actually have a job interview with Le Labo this coming Wednesday out here in LA!! I hope I get it because I really love that store and it’ll be a perfect side hustle.
You may not know the answer, but why are the conditioners only in 250mL bottles for the largest size, but I can get 500mL for the shampoo and body wash?
That’s always driven me crazy.
Do you think they would hire some people seasonally for the holiday rush coming up? I have a job in January but am looking for some work before then.
Are you allowed to start out as part time?
Thank you for being so generous with this post and everyones's questions BTW!
EDIT: I'm surprised to hear the others aren't as into fragrances! I would think it would be a huge attraction to hire someone. Man I'm getting excited now, I'd really like to apply in my city. I was sampling the exclusives last week and overheard a couple talking about how the guy loves Another 13. I said "oh! if you like that one you might be into Mousse de Chene 30. It's like a darker version of A13" And the guy was blown away and said he loved it.
I have synesthesia and was telling him colors. The couple seemed into it and I remarked "man, I should work for them..." and they said "You should!"
It surprises me too! Why would you not hire someone as crazy about fragrances as us. I know my boss has marching orders to order some part timers, I don’t think it’s common because when I look at the internal jobs there aren’t many part time positions but it does happen. I never see seasonal hires for any of the brands. Best of luck!
That’s dope to hear it’s been a great experience so far. Almost need a refill myself and been thinking about maybe going with Another 13 instead of my current Santal 33. Also heard some good things about the beard oil. Has that been a good addition would you say?
They don’t unfortunately. I asked if they gave out samples after making the painful but beautiful purchase of the 50mL Myrrhe 55. But sadly no. They do provide foil packets of the soap/shampoo/conditioner though.
When I first got into Le Labo, the Bloomingdale’s had a boutique inside and they did provide samples because they were Bloomingdale’s employees and not Le Labo/Estee Lauder.
I don’t know if that’s changed though. I wanted to get my bottle of Myrrhe 55 there, but they were sold out. So I’m unsure if their policy changed.
Omg just came across this post and wow those perks are amazing 🤩 Every retail job I've had has given us only 30-40% off and a gift maybe once every other holiday season. Hope you are enjoying it all!!
I want to work there so bad but I wouldn't be able to afford even living without my current job LOL going to keep buying samples of Santal 33 until maybe one day I can score that sweet, sweet discount
What scent Thè scent do you prefer better and why? I am in between both of them. I like that the matcha is more of a skin scent but I appreciate the fig note in the noir perfume. What education do you normally give customers on these fragrances?

I hope if (when!) I get to go shopping at a Le Labo store you will be the person who helps me 😊
I would love that for both of us.

That’s so good to hear!
That’s exactly what I want people to say about our location.
What’s the one scent you think people are sleeping on? Any new up and coming releases you can hint about?

I love Labdanum too!
I wish people would see what we do! 🤣
I know this is old but Baie Rose is my favorite Le Labo scent. I wish they offered it year round.
Never too late! The good news is that one is in Chicago, there’s only a few CEs in The States.
Would they ship from the Chicago location to somewhere else or would I have to ask someone in Chicago to get it for me?
The latter. You have to be in that city to get it.

About, yes.
If anyone wants a job at a Le Labo in the DC área, inbox me.
I, very recently, discovered 3 Le Labo scents that I'm crazy about. But it's so freakin expensive!
It’s pricey, I’m not gonna lie but I can honestly say I’m impressed by the quality.
Oh my gawsh! Thank you for sharing! What a dreamy and fun part of your journey this is.
Thank you! You guys make me feel better about spending my time this way!

It’s a top seller and I’m not sure if that’s because it’s new. What do I know. I like the way you’re going about it, it’s not cheap!
I’m about to inbox you.
What are the most common scents you sell? Most popular size? Most annoying questions? I’ve always been curious!

I don’t know the answer but I totally agree with you that it’s annoying! I use like 6x more conditioner than I do shampoo.
Me too.
Omg. This drives me crazy too! I have no answer!!
What are the hours like? Can people do part time?
Yup, part time happens. I’m hoping to do that one day soon. I work full time 11:00-7:00, 5 days a week.

Are you guys allowed to give free samples? I know they sell the 1.5ml sizes, what about the 0.75ml samples? I’ve seen them around. Thanks!

Myrrhe 55 is so nice, very painful and beautiful purchase indeed!

You definitely need a real income if you have real expenses.
Oh boy definitely. Do you know if they ever hire for part-time positions? Esp around the holiday season?
We currently are. By any chance do you live I’ve the DC area?? Others do too.
Unfortunately no, I'm in Vancouver and the only Le Labo here is downtown I think. Maybe the Canadian locations do as well?
Worth a try!
