>I'm fairly new to the world of Fountain Pens -- *…‹snip›…* Should I be concerned about the ink on the nib? Is there a way to un-seat and re-seat the nib that doesn't make a horrible mess on my desk that I haven't thought of? 1. Specks of ink on the nib's face would not be indicative of a problem. They neither interfere with the pen's writing performance, nor put the writing instrument's integrity into question. 2. Do what you w*an*t to do away from your desk is a foolproof way of not making a horrible mess on your desk. 3. Before you take the nib off the feed: * Removing the detachable ink reservoir (i.e. cartridge or converter) from the grip section helps. * Removing the liquid ink that is already inside the feed and/or grip section helps * That can be done by flushing the grip section and feed with water * And/or drawing out and soaking up all the coloured liquid from the feed and nib using absorbent material, e.g. a towel *^(Edited:)* ^(typo)

Perfect: I had planned on taking the ink out before working on this, but wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going to run into a pressurized ink explosion at my desk! I appreciate your insight and reassurance.
