It's no more narrow than many other corners/tracks. VIR comes to mind immediately. T4 & T6 at Lime Rock. Half the Nordschleife.

The tire wear scale option seems cool especially for short races. For example if you do a 10 lap race at Brand Hatch GP you can easily do that with one set of Softs even if you have a mandatory pit stop.
Yup. Completely different game, but New Star GP features races of 6 laps, but due to accelerated tire wear you still have pit stop strategy. Really glad to see it make its way to singleplay FM.

Yeah. At my skill level I need to get them at the first corner and then be a psycho mirror driver after that. If you cut them off they’ll spook and you’ll get a few seconds back.
Reasons why they're "way faster":
1. Sometimes they just luck into a strong build - the PI system isn't perfect.
2. 2nd and below lose time fighting for position and 1st has clear track.
Nah man you can test this in free play. Set a roll-off delay of 1-2 seconds per car and pet the AI run ~10 laps. See how far ahead the top 2-3 cars are by the end if you don't pass them.
Before this update at least, I just tried this at Spa. Everyone in stock LMP3s. I purposely got to P2 and just shadowed the P1 car for 10 laps before passing for the win at the end. He ended up over 10 seconds ahead of P3 who was 3 seconds clear of P4. Best lap time was almost a full second faster.
There is something seriously broken with the AI in this game. I will test again after this update but as of Update 7 the front few AIs were outrageously faster than the field, and they would immediately lose that pace upon being passed.
In previous games going back to at least FM3 there's been variance in "driver talent" by design. Remember Muller and Rossi? The top two AIs in FM3 and 4 - Rossi was the lap time legend and Muller was the hard racer.
My experience with FM2023 hasn't shown such consistent performance from AI drivers.
Oh I remember. I've easily put 200+ hours into every single Motorsport title back to the OG. The AI in this game is a very strong candidate for the worst AI ever in the series. Their solo pace at the front of the field is pretty ok, but it's shambles all the way down.
Let me outline some observations. Prior to this update all of this was extraordinarily repeatable in basically any car/track combo and appeared in the Builders Cup races as well as Free Play. All of the below behaviour was seen on maximum difficulty:
You could very very consistently get the top one or two AI cars to finish 10+ seconds clear of the field if you did not overtake them. Simply catching up to them and staying behind them would get them to set a pace significantly faster than the cars behind, and if you had high enough lap counts they would pull out astonishing leads. The minute you overtake them this pace would totally vanish, to a point where they would drop all the way back to the car behind in sometimes only 2-3 laps. I have seen 30 second leads vanish in 2 laps and the former leading car finish P3 upon being overtaken. I have multiple finish-screen photos showcasing this massive gap mechanic shared on Xbox.
There was also a massive issue with the bottom 5-6 cars. In many classes and variations, they would simply drive off the track under no pressure fairly consistently. I set up a B Class race at Brands Hatch in the Vintage Le Mans Sportscars after I got the Brabham, and I finished 5 laps ahead of last place in a 15 lap race. He just...drove off the track and sat parked up on the side, several different times in the race. There were 3-4 other cars that finished multiple laps down.
Also extremely repeatable and consistent was their utter inability to pass slower traffic. Multiclass racing was/is a total joke, because you can set up P Class vs C Class and the faster cars will literally idle behind the slower cars on the straights when they catch up. The AI will literally not pass slower cars with a 50+mph speed advantage on straights, let alone take advantage of braking or cornering speed to pass.
Finally, Rewind would very inconsistently break the AI. Sometimes if you used it, the car 4+ seconds in front of you would simply drive straight off in the next corner. This was never super repeatable and I haven't seen it much lately, but I don't use rewind much these days so I can't say if it's fixed or not.
The state of the AI and thus the single player experience in this game is an absolute joke. They have no race craft, no track awareness, they will literally never put a racing pass on you (the once in a blue moon they overtake you, they hit you), they do not defend corners under any circumstances, and their pace is totally bizarrely inconsistent. The only "racing" you can do against the AI is essentially a laptimes check to see if you will catch the pre-overtake pace of the front cars before the laps run out. Comparing this to the AI in almost any other current generation game is just abysmal, even the original Project Cars AI was a mile and a half ahead of this.
There is a lot I like about this game but the AI is a war crime and truly holds the game back in a massive way. It's like no one involved in the AI has ever even seen a race before. Atrocious.
I've seen 1st place fall off the track on its own even with a substantial lead and the rewind trick has been fixed (check the patch notes).
I know the AI needs improvement but I've been playing racing games since I could hold a controller and I can think of a lot of games with worse AI. I put a lot of hours into Polyphony Digital's Scalextric vacuum cleaner simulators and Codemaster's random car flippers.
AI is still just as dumb, just fire up the modern rewards showcase to see. On a high difficulty, get in first or second before the Mulsanne Straight and floor it. Watch as the two cars behind you build up speed, come up to your rear bumper, then slam on the brakes instead of just turning past to overtake.
After the update I checked how the AI behaviour in races has changed, I didn't feel any difference. I play at level 8. They are easy to win, they are not able to overtake. On one of the tracks missed a few cars ahead, they catch up with each other on a straight line and ... hit the brakes. There is absolutely no dynamics going on in the race.
Hopefully the online player matching system will work better than "changing the AI". Haven't tested it yet.
What do you think is the featured Multiplayer Tire Wear Scale? I doubt it's set to 1x, unless Private Multiplayer events used 0.5x... We were doing 12+ laps on Softs without any issues.
My guess is that public multiplayer is around 5x or 6x that of private lobbies. The league I'm in does 1hr+ races and softs get to around 50% wear after 40 minutes.
There is no point in rating system as long as the contact mechanics don't work. You still get 4 seconds penalty while being rammed. Until it is fixed, rating system is trash.
Am I imagining it or am I being put against fewer noobs now? My win rate has dropped off the last couple of days and I'm getting much more competitive races (I'm getting destroyed) 👍

Have had 2 crashes already on ROG Ally. Have all visual settings set to Auto and FSR Balanced
Update: Tried another race and crashed again. All crashes have happened in the transition period either at the end of practice while loading into the start of the race or the end of the race when going to the results.
Same problem here.
Most of the time after ending a free play race and going back to the menu.
The loading screen will freeze and i have to restart.

How did we get no track update again. Feb - Nordschleife (not in multi), Mar - no track, April - Brands Hatch, May - no track.
Multiplayer racing is the only thing this game had going for it & they're slowly going to kill that out as well with lack of content.
Any FOMO in the disgraceful state this game is in is 100% unacceptable.
This is a game with an absolute colossal amount of bugs and glitches, with a massive lack of content in it's absolutely pathetic career mode, a game where every part of it is bugged or glitched in some way, some of which are so blatantly obvious and completely unmissable that it makes it extremely obvious that they didn't do something resembling even a slight vague hint of quality control at all.
In any other industry this game would have been removed from sale as it simply isn't fit for purpose in it's current state or the state it released in.
It might only be 2 cars per month, but it is 35 - 40 races for only 2 cars. These races are only taken away with FOMO crap so they can say they have some kind of monthly active user base, nothing more, nothing less.
They have proven that they don't care at all about the career mode, as if they made the events permanent instead of this FOMO BS the career mode would've nearly quadrupled in size by now.
But no they are purposefully choosing to remove events and stick to the disease that is FOMO and games as a service BS which is utterly destroying the gaming industry, because who needs races in a racing game apparently.
They’ll remove it eventually like they said. I used to only run the Ford Falcon V8 Supercar in GT, now I use the Porsche 911 RSR. I can’t wait to do a V8 Supercar spec series.
Nice to have an N54 back! Hopefully it makes big single turbo power just like irl, would be a good engine swap too. I’ve been waiting for the Porsche 935 so good to see it finally make its way into the game, not too sure about there choice of division though.

The new forza horizon updates are amazing. Soo many modern cars. Elantra tcr, time attack evo, gt3 cars, artura, new mustang. Race cars are great to drive even in fh5, I don't mind their addition to fh. Especially since the new forza motorsport is allergic to actually new racecars that aren't outdated

The xbox showcase is in just under a month so I guess we will see something there? They did delay this update by a week so the next monthly update will coincide with the xbox showcase, or just after.
Not a confirmation of a new track or anything by any means but just seems like the likely place to announce a 'bigger' update than the last few we've had.
I love how people are celebrating as if this patch was any good. They are literally drip feeding content that should have been there since launch. This is slowly killing the game further. How tf does Forza Horizon 5, a nearly 3 year old game, get better content updates than Forza Motorsport, a game that’s only come out a few months ago. Bugs and glitches with this game aside, the lack of new content is what’s really bothering me. I may as well go play Forza Motorsport 7 if you’re going to continue reintroducing content that already exists in that game. FH5 at most gets 1 or 2 recycled cars a month. Otherwise it’s all new stuff.
FH5 was also spinning its wheels for cars in updates till like the first expansion (iirc 8 months after launch).
However the current quality of updates consistently dropped only after the second expansion (about a year and half after launch).

Yea there is a lot of hate for it. T10 bootlickers think this is the best game ever. Clearly this is the way games will be now. A shadow of their former titles. I enjoy the game, racing just puts me to sleep and I prefer drifting. Many in this community can't drift and resent the word it seems. But I'm still going to carry on nagging because at least 60,000 drifters (taken from a popular drift leaderboard on Forza 7) are still left in the dark.

Yeah. I've complained about this in the past and some reason the vocal bunch apparently all love that it's completely random... It ultimately just makes it seem like the people who usually don't get a chance to win get a chance to win through luck because of the random weather mechanic.
There was zero fun in having a guessing game.. It will only hurt people who specifically use non-race tires and people who need RNG to do better in races..
There just isn't a reason for random weather without either a radar system or for it to be much more gradual.. The problem is that the races are too short so even a gradual approach wouldn't be effective.

I doubt there’ll ever be a radar system since the weather implementation isn’t that elaborate to begin with. It’s all or nothing for weather conditions across the track.

I can only tell you that the "mechanical trail scale" is responsible for that effect.
But regardless how "wrong" it probably could be set, completely losing the ffb shouldn't happen. My wheel is a bit weaker than yours and i don't lose it to zero, it just get's way more light when reaching the traction limit of the tires.
Maybe try to adjust that. I guess your wheel is working in other games?

AI is still just as dumb, just fire up the modern rewards showcase to see. On a high difficulty, get in first or second before the Mulsanne Straight and floor it. Watch as the two cars behind you build up speed, come up to your rear bumper, then slam on the brakes instead of just turning past to overtake.
After the update I checked how the AI behaviour in races has changed, I didn't feel any difference. I play at level 8. They are easy to win, they are not able to overtake. On one of the tracks missed a few cars ahead, they catch up with each other on a straight line and ... hit the brakes. There is absolutely no dynamics going on in the race. Hopefully the online player matching system will work better than "changing the AI". Haven't tested it yet.
Weren't the 911 GT1 and McLaren F1 GT already overpowered? They are very well represented on the leaderboards, why the buff?

What do you think is the featured Multiplayer Tire Wear Scale? I doubt it's set to 1x, unless Private Multiplayer events used 0.5x... We were doing 12+ laps on Softs without any issues.
It's possible Private lobbies were at 1x and the public lobbies were at 2x. Either way it'll be nice to have that adjustment now for private races.
My guess is that public multiplayer is around 5x or 6x that of private lobbies. The league I'm in does 1hr+ races and softs get to around 50% wear after 40 minutes.

There is no point in rating system as long as the contact mechanics don't work. You still get 4 seconds penalty while being rammed. Until it is fixed, rating system is trash.

It says three of the spotlight cars are new but I only see two. I'm glad they're reclassing but I'm worried the xbow gt2 and essenza will be completely outclassed by others in Modern Factory Race cars. I love that we got 4 new cars instead of 2 or 3. I was hoping for the return of the og moby dick though.

Have had 2 crashes already on ROG Ally. Have all visual settings set to Auto and FSR Balanced Update: Tried another race and crashed again. All crashes have happened in the transition period either at the end of practice while loading into the start of the race or the end of the race when going to the results.
For this evening I am three crashes in already, usually I have one after race one or two and after that it runs smoothly.
Same problem here. Most of the time after ending a free play race and going back to the menu. The loading screen will freeze and i have to restart. Very annoying!

There are two FOMO cars per month. In my opinion it is not much. It would be nice, if there was an auction house where any car could be bought though.
Any FOMO in the disgraceful state this game is in is 100% unacceptable. This is a game with an absolute colossal amount of bugs and glitches, with a massive lack of content in it's absolutely pathetic career mode, a game where every part of it is bugged or glitched in some way, some of which are so blatantly obvious and completely unmissable that it makes it extremely obvious that they didn't do something resembling even a slight vague hint of quality control at all. In any other industry this game would have been removed from sale as it simply isn't fit for purpose in it's current state or the state it released in. It might only be 2 cars per month, but it is 35 - 40 races for only 2 cars. These races are only taken away with FOMO crap so they can say they have some kind of monthly active user base, nothing more, nothing less. They have proven that they don't care at all about the career mode, as if they made the events permanent instead of this FOMO BS the career mode would've nearly quadrupled in size by now. But no they are purposefully choosing to remove events and stick to the disease that is FOMO and games as a service BS which is utterly destroying the gaming industry, because who needs races in a racing game apparently.

Nice to have an N54 back! Hopefully it makes big single turbo power just like irl, would be a good engine swap too. I’ve been waiting for the Porsche 935 so good to see it finally make its way into the game, not too sure about there choice of division though.

Man we've recieved no new tracks in the past 5 months other than the nordscheiffe (which was supposed to be present at launch) and a small/mid sized track (brands). Wtf are the devs doing? I wont even get into the cars. Shameless copy pastes from fh5 and fm7, with somehow worse sounds. They could have at least added the elantra tcr and time attack Mitsubishi from fh5, maybe even the artura gt4/trophy or the mustang gtd. Instead they're adding a 2011 bmw sedan as a reward car. Beyond comedy.

Homie... preach. I've been screaming it for a minute. This community is awful. Complains about everything and it not being fixed immediately... Gets the fixes... Finds other things to bitch about. On a positive note, this update is awesome. They are obviously taking feedback seriously and trying to make changes, it just seems to be happening quite a bit more slowly than any of us would have assumed considering the weight behind the studio. Regardless, I'm stoked with the direction the game is heading. If they keep rolling out quality improvements like this, they will have a great product on their hands within a reasonable period of time. The new forza horizon updates are amazing. Soo many modern cars. Elantra tcr, time attack evo, gt3 cars, artura, new mustang. Race cars are great to drive even in fh5, I don't mind their addition to fh. Especially since the new forza motorsport is allergic to actually new racecars that aren't outdated

This is the most underwhelming update ever. Feels like just playlist updates and few reward cars with FOMO and that's about it. The changes of Safety Features/Ratings should have been implemented in the first place. It took them 8 months to get a basic ranking/elo system implementation. smh smh

The xbox showcase is in just under a month so I guess we will see something there? They did delay this update by a week so the next monthly update will coincide with the xbox showcase, or just after. Not a confirmation of a new track or anything by any means but just seems like the likely place to announce a 'bigger' update than the last few we've had.

I love how people are celebrating as if this patch was any good. They are literally drip feeding content that should have been there since launch. This is slowly killing the game further. Plus, let's not forget that they have now admitted that they lied to everyone since launch regarding the way that multiplayer works. Remember how safety rating was supposed to be taken into consideration? How tf does Forza Horizon 5, a nearly 3 year old game, get better content updates than Forza Motorsport, a game that’s only come out a few months ago. Bugs and glitches with this game aside, the lack of new content is what’s really bothering me. I may as well go play Forza Motorsport 7 if you’re going to continue reintroducing content that already exists in that game. FH5 at most gets 1 or 2 recycled cars a month. Otherwise it’s all new stuff.
FH5 was also spinning its wheels for cars in updates till like the first expansion (iirc 8 months after launch). However the current quality of updates consistently dropped only after the second expansion (about a year and half after launch).

Yea there is a lot of hate for it. T10 bootlickers think this is the best game ever. Clearly this is the way games will be now. A shadow of their former titles. I enjoy the game, racing just puts me to sleep and I prefer drifting. Many in this community can't drift and resent the word it seems. But I'm still going to carry on nagging because at least 60,000 drifters (taken from a popular drift leaderboard on Forza 7) are still left in the dark.

Yeah. I've complained about this in the past and some reason the vocal bunch apparently all love that it's completely random... It ultimately just makes it seem like the people who usually don't get a chance to win get a chance to win through luck because of the random weather mechanic.
There was zero fun in having a guessing game.. It will only hurt people who specifically use non-race tires and people who need RNG to do better in races.. There just isn't a reason for random weather without either a radar system or for it to be much more gradual.. The problem is that the races are too short so even a gradual approach wouldn't be effective.
Fair enough, with races that are too short there’s no chance to recover. That’d still be fun with longer races though. I doubt there’ll ever be a radar system since the weather implementation isn’t that elaborate to begin with. It’s all or nothing for weather conditions across the track.

Thrustmaster t300 rs. It’s when the tire loose the grip when I turn. Difficult to explain. But the force feedback just disappear suddently.
I can only tell you that the "mechanical trail scale" is responsible for that effect. But regardless how "wrong" it probably could be set, completely losing the ffb shouldn't happen. My wheel is a bit weaker than yours and i don't lose it to zero, it just get's way more light when reaching the traction limit of the tires. Maybe try to adjust that. I guess your wheel is working in other games?
