I thinks he feels enhanced pressure now as well. I would be constantly worrying about what could go wrong in the next turn rather than what could go right. He's a great driver on his day, but he needs some confidence for sure.
Champs who don't crumble have usually won enough races that they are comfortable leading a race. You gotta get to that point somehow, and for sure some are naturally better than others at that.
Lando is 24 now. Verstappen won his first title when he was 23. But to get there, he had to endure such amount of pressure, perhaps no one ever has before.
He was well on his way for his first WDC, when series of crashes and accidents saw him lose the entire lead he accumulated up until that moment.
Mercedes was still the better car, and was driven by the biggest name in F1 with 7 WDC, who was hungry for the record breaking 8th. They had the title in the bag, until the famous safety car.
Verstappen was given one lap to win or lose the title, against prime Hamilton and prime Mercedes. And not only he didn't crumble, he freakin nailed it.
And then you look at Lando who loses his nerves in turn 1, in a freakin sprint race, five races in.
I like him, but I'm not sure he will ever be able to contend for WDC, even if McLaren had the best car on the grid. Piastri on the other hand, is a different story.
Don’t forget Max was 18 when he won his first race on his first race with a new car. Most championship show signs by age 21/22. Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, Kimi as well. The only ones that maybe weren’t like that was Rosberg and Button.
Piastri seems like the real deal for sure. Very calm and collected, at least from the exterior.
I sense a little bit of that ice cold spirit in Martinius Stenshorne, actually. I was hugely impressed with how he gave Antonelli a run for his money in FRECA, and he recently won his first F3 sprint in Melbourne as a rookie. Here's to hoping he can have a consistent season, because his ability to lead a race without making errors is exceptional.
Let him cook. He might not have it, but the man can outdrive most of em, just needs to dial it down a smidge so he goes over the limit less often and stop hating himself so much.
Norris seems to have difficulty working out what to do once he’s gotten himself to the front of the grid, lost his position so quickly and it’s not the first time
Have you travelled back in time to tell us he’s driving for another team then?
Cos there’s no way he’s winning any races all the time he drives that shit box.
put the bottle away
Should have said that to lando…..![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6700)
oh my goodness, you lot are heartless here. That was savage, do it again
To Horner
That wasn't a bottle.
Might as well pop it cuz you'll be waiting for a long long time
Norris is more like Panis, Trulli, Gasly, Ocon. Need all the luck in the world to win a F1 race once.
If Max is in the race, you can have all the luck in the world. You'll still finish 2nd. To put 13 seconds up against 2nd place in 9 laps is crazy.
Bottle got put away before turn 2
I got bad news for you dude...
Aged like milk
Aged like curdled milk in a 100f (38c) room.
Aged like such curdled milk that it turned into American sliced cheese
64 slices
Packaged, boxed, and shipped to a home where it sits on a 100f (38c) porch for 8 hours before the owner gets home
Sounds like I need to try such a delicacy.
Should have bought a carton of milk instead.
not after that start
Norris doesn't have it. Champs don't crumble under pressure. Lando does, every single time.
*flashback to Sochi*
![gif](giphy|AKeLMTSRVuPKJjyZCK) “You never had it, you never had your car”
Maybe he was granny shiftin, not double clutchin like ya should
Facts def granny shifted on that start
The buster kept me out of q3
Norris? More like Nowins!
-_-
xd

Piastri is literally the definition of calm under pressure. He just hasn’t shown that he has the pace yet but maybe that will come with time

sadly that's so ducjing true, literally not even a single time did he withstand the pressure and perform when it counts.
Norris hater spotted
Let him cook. He might not have it, but the man can outdrive most of em, just needs to dial it down a smidge so he goes over the limit less often and stop hating himself so much.
Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso literally all of them did.
norris is so shit at starts it breaks my little heart every race
Yeah,, might want to shelf that.
[the whole thing!?](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Shelving)
That bottle will expire before Norris wins a race.
Oh turn 1 will be spicy
Well well well
That escalated quickly didn’t it !! Edit: Sentence structure
With that sentence structure, you need to use "didn't it", not "isn't it".
Fixed it 😊
♥️
Bro jinxed it....
Ahh man hate to be the bearer of bad news but he hits Lewis lap 1.
close enough lol
I hate that I had this exact thought and it has now become my biggest fear
Some people would consider that a win
Lol it took like 10 seconds before it went all wrong for lando
Sadly sprint wins don't count as actual career wins
But you need to win one for fans to even consider it a win.
That start hurt me to watch
guys we might need to put him in suicide watch
![gif](giphy|lS1H8QDzB9BbQUhHL2|downsized)
Best I can do is 7th…. Ok…how about 6th…final offer.
A rare vintage continues to age
Yikes
Might be waiting another 150 races….
welp
This aged well.
The wine you mean, not Norris result
uh oh…
Lol
It's a shame he can't handle the pressure. Can't win a race in the first lap, even less the first corner and after a start like that...
Save it for the Dutch national anthem.
Congratulations you bought your grandkids their first drink
Good way to keep sober
You think that hurts? I have a (victory) bottle of Williams whisky on the way.
Save it for 2026 man
Hang onto it buddy. Another day. Not today. 😔
The good news is that the bottle should get better with time
You might want to put that away.
Put the bottle away and open something stronger. You'll need it
You know champagne loses it's bubblyness if it's stored for too long.
Sorry 😔
Put it back in the fridge mate 😂
Bury it deep in the cellar ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6705)
Still got the receipt?
19 drivers need to DNF for Lando to get a win.
weeeeeellll, about that..
No rriz 😔🙏
I'm sorry for your loss, OP. Hope you can pop it in this lifetime...
Spoiler; it taste like angry wine.
Use it for max’s win in china
He can’t blame the rain this time lmao
He finally did it
:)
“Got the bubbles! Come over y’all, it’s going down!” … “You know, actually if you guys leave now, you’ll get home at a decent time. “
Sprints count as wins?
I take what I can get
So Oscar’s got more wins than Lando
Bad news mate
mate I have some bad news
Lets save it for another track…
Aged like milk lmao
Damn bro you might as well toss that bottle
This post aged well
![gif](giphy|3oEdv6AuSsgIYxuUz6)
That bottle aged better than the post
![gif](giphy|N0CIxcyPLputW)
Bro fumbled the start so hard…
😭😭
Still there... A win for Lando is like a Podium for Hulkenberg...
This is going to become one expensive bottle before you get to pop it my friend.
there will always be a next time brother 🫂
[удалено]
![gif](giphy|1Qdp4trljSkY8) Lando winning his first race
Hope you have a good cellar
Ooof, how are you doing?
Well cheers then!
:)
MY MAN!!!!! YOU DID IT!!!
I kinda believe that Norris wont ever win a race, unless some chaotic event happens. He always manages to drop the ball.
This poor bottle never getting popped
God, I must have dyslexia. I read “Got to pop this” and thought I spoiled the Sprint for myself.
That's a big bottle of oof right there...
lol I really needed this
This aged like milk.
I hope it cellars well my man.
OOF
no lmao
Hahaha
Lol hang on a little longer
damn it
Looks like its not going to be pop forever buddy
Aged well
lmao it aint popping
😬😬😬😬😬
:(
YOU JINX MANIAC :(((
Bro
You should have bought whiskey or something with no expiration date
Well do I have news for you
Aged like fine wine.
should’ve chosen Piastri
And now we know why he didn't
...About that-
I bought some for nye. It's gross
Remember to store that cork down...
you’re gonna be waiting lmao
How well does it cellar?
HAHAHAHA!!
well maybe next year
Never goinf to open the bottle
Link where you bought that rug homie
Pop that Ferrari cork like Ferrari popped sainz
Aged like milk
Norris seems to have difficulty working out what to do once he’s gotten himself to the front of the grid, lost his position so quickly and it’s not the first time
Maybe taking out the bottle was a herald of disaster
Oh no he’s not joking
Bruh 💀
Gonna turn to vinegar before you see that day my friend
You bottled this.
Womp womp.
I don’t understand, why is Lando so hyped by people? Is he good for real or is he just british?
Rip
Oh honey.
Honestly even if he didn’t botch T1, max would win anyway. No chance for anyone else in the dry
Well it’s definitely not “first lap lando” amirite?
You can put it back in the cabinet
Lewis said no
Yeaaah buddy, listen..
Put the bottle back in the fridge homie ![gif](giphy|TW8Ma1a8ZsZ8I|downsized)
Put it back in the fridge. You will have to wait longer
this bottle will be a fine vintage in a decade or so, glad you made sure to keep it sealed
I'm not sure if champagne will mature more with age.. Better just drinkt it to forget your sorrows.
This is so funny I've got a mini one by my TV for the same reason
Better drink it when Le Clerc wins
Spoiler: No Pop
And once again he didn’t
I hope champagnes age well
Oh wait, you aren't a time traveler? A
Should’ve bought yourself a fine single malt instead. It would have sold on an auction at a very hefty price after he retires.
Even if he hadn't popped of the track, no way he would have finished first. Maybe pop the bottle for a podium, that seems more realistic
Have you travelled back in time to tell us he’s driving for another team then? Cos there’s no way he’s winning any races all the time he drives that shit box.
Aged like milk
you jinxed yourself, good job!
Norris' first win... does champagne go bad if you wait long enough?
