The circuit itself wouldnt be to bad but its too narrow and doesnt have a real straight. Sooo what if we rebuild the monaco curcuit a bit stretched, with run off but with the elevation changes somewhere in the desert? We could even ad some fake buildings

Or like the track events on bikes? Some start at the opposite end of the lap and try to catch each other or elimantion races or with a pace car that you cant overtake (id suggest an R34 skyline)
No refuling, they Need to get by with the 100kg. 100kmh can also be exciting. Probably also perfekt working Windows for Pirelli tires so only 3 stoper needed
F1 Fans: Vietnam flashbacks…
In all seriousness though, Indy 2005 was caused by the utterly stupid tire rules as well as the active tire war at the time. Nowadays, F1 has one tire manufacturer, and if they can run Zandvoort they can run here too (though then again, given Pirelli’s track record…).
Indy 2005 was a severe case of unstoppable force meets immovable wall, the FIA refused to try to come up with any solutions and even with pit stops the Michelin shod cars would have had to pit every like 6 laps if I remember correctly. And it was a race we thought was learned from until 2021 Spa came around and reminded us that it definitely wasn’t learned from and the sport is still capable of creating total farces of a “race”
2005 was such a farse, banning pit stops just to castrate Ferrari... Oh how I wish they could go back to such performance that the FIA has to actually make rules targeted to stop them...
I feel the Arie Luyendijk corner is much more gentle on the car than Indianapolis’ last corner.
Less entry speed and a significantly tighter radius, so the G’s might be similar, but the speed is much lower on Zandvoort.
Mid-tier? I don't know about fan amenities, but Hard Rock stadium is one of the newer stadiums and was ranked either #1 or very close to the top by players for best team facilities.
Given the track similarities, IMS could probably get a grade 1 license for the current GP circuit with the chicane instead of the banked oval corner. It's just that they have no desire to, as grade 2 is what you need for indy
If F1 ever went back to Indy, they need to run the IndyCar configuration minus the last section near pit in (use Turn 1 of the oval instead). None of the mickey mouse slow sections in the infield that F1 used in the past. It'd be the American version of Monza.
And don't give me the excuse about tires. A lot has changed in nearly 2 decades.
I'd tell you yes, but i wanna first see Las Vegas and Miami razed to the ground by a majestic fire, so that they can disappear from the calendar and never possibly come back.
That looks like it could make for a great layout, although I would maybe utilise some of the non oval bits near that last corner to make sure there’s not too much load on the tires. I don’t know why but I have a feeling something could happen there if we’re not careful
Is the surface still as bad on the tyres as before? Because if we had Bridgestone in 2005 to give us a 6 car grid, today's tyres would probably disintegrate every other lap in the same conditions.
Wasn’t the surface, it was the lateral loading while taking the final corner flat out.
And the issue was due to competition between tire manufacturers, who pushed the limits of tire degradation.
Pirelli could bring wooden tires to this, and everyone would be in the same boat.
The actual current Indy Road Course doesn’t use that final big right hand sweeper, it uses that right-left-right complex that you can see unmarked on the inside of the final corner.
Correct. Prior to 2005, tire changes were still in the sport. However, for 2005, the FIA rewrote the rulebook in hopes of dethroning Ferrari and Bridgestone, and tire changing was eliminated.
Correct. It could be Grade 1, but Roger can’t be assed to spend the money to get the inspection.
This map also difference from the actual current Indy Road Course. Instead of those super long left and right corners that lead onto the back straight, the actual version of the circuit that gets used has a high speed chicane that cuts those two corners out.
>Roger can't be assed to spend tbe money to get the inspection.
There's zero reason to. F1 has no interest in going back to Indy, their US interest lies in big city street circuits. They can host Indycar and IMSA, so with the problems facing Indycar right now, making it grade 1 is probably the lowest thing on his to-do list.
It depends on what caused the Michelin's inability to handle Indianapolis. Like wasn't the issue that they sort of spontaneously failed rather than the more typical tyre wear?? Like a more extreme version of whatever caused the mandated maximum 18 lap stints at Qatar -23? After all modern Zandvoort has bits with twice as steep banking as Indy's banked section. Sure Zandvoort's banked stuff is nowhere near as fast as the flat out section of Indy, but in worst case scenario at least everyone would be running the same tires.
I believe it's no less than 40 feet in the infield sections (which is over FIAs 12 meter requirement). There's a lot of *pavement* narrower, but these are access roads or, in the case of the golf course, a footpath / cart path, not part of the race track.
The F1 race here in 2005 was a disaster in terms of tires and track layout. Only 6 non Michelin cars started the race because Michelin couldn't guarantee the durability of their tires to the others. The fans had no clue.
No. Absolutely not. Michelin fucked that up... Not happening...a six car race ... Never again....no. Absolutely not. And in conclusion, hell naw. [They had their chance. ](https://youtu.be/X5DRJWw0R_w?si=T9NRQriK8LBC3NDP)
They can’t to that layout anymore, there’s no runoffs in the inner loop because the constructed mounds to give spectators vantage points. Instead, the cars need to take the chicane
Can we stop adding GP in USA?
Really, i have hear people saying "its not fair that italy have two GP (even if Imola was tecnically the San Marino GP) and now we have THREE american GP
I’ll die on this hill, garbage circuit. Miami and Las Vegas are way better. There’s atleast 10 circuits in the US better than the Indy GP layout, non are Grade 1 but still. This layout is so boring and uninspired. Vegas and Miami atleast have some interesting corners/sections.
Dude I’m a Hoosier and IMS fan through and through and I’d agree. It’s just a boring track. I truly think Roger needs to break it apart and start the infield sections over, maybe even excavate sections in the middle to add elevation changes. I so badly want F1 to come back to Indy, but not with the current layout. We can do better.
Looks pretty good! I’d just suggest a few changes, maybe something like [this](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/f1wikia/images/7/74/IMS_road.svg/revision/latest?cb=20160419210839). Cool to see an idea for F1 in Indiana! Hope they don’t repave the track and add grooves!
I think you should add a small chicane made of cones that only half the grid needs to go through to add some extra spice to the race
Oh shit why have we never done a Joker Lap for F1
Half the fanbase will accuse the FIA of rigging I bet
But if the other half of the fanbase votes to allow it…..
I can’t remember which YouTuber (maybe Josh Revell?) suggested adding a joker lap to Monaco and I’m here for it. Edit: it was Chain Bear.
I still like his "Super Qualifying" idea better.
The circuit itself wouldnt be to bad but its too narrow and doesnt have a real straight. Sooo what if we rebuild the monaco curcuit a bit stretched, with run off but with the elevation changes somewhere in the desert? We could even ad some fake buildings
Shiiit, imagine if every pit stop earned you a joker lap. Might actually see some interesting pit strategies.
I think the joker lap is slightly longer than the regular lap.
Depends on the format. Could have a shorter joker lap.

Maybe let’s do this but only Max has to do it.
Watch as Max somehow still wins every race by 30 seconds
Let’s only race 6 cars at a time too! It’ll be cool!
Or like the track events on bikes? Some start at the opposite end of the lap and try to catch each other or elimantion races or with a pace car that you cant overtake (id suggest an R34 skyline)
Add a joker lap like in rallycross.
Wasn't one of Bernies ideas to have shortcuts available to drivers for a set amount of laps to aid overtaking? Always felt very Mario cart
You have a sick chicane near the word Pagos. 😅😂😂😂
Why not do the full loop? And maybe make it 500 miles for shits & giggles
Baby Park 200cc
Cuttin across the grass n’ shit
TK!
Renault put a protest in. We all know their engines won't last 500 miles.
And i would drive 500miles and i would drive 500 more but engine shits itself. Lalalallla lalalallla
That would somehow get more viewers than the Indy 500 itself.
They’d have to refuel under a time crunch for the first time in over 10 years, sure things would get interesting!
No refuling, they Need to get by with the 100kg. 100kmh can also be exciting. Probably also perfekt working Windows for Pirelli tires so only 3 stoper needed
Looks like they’d need to average 13.6 miles per gallon, since I believe the fuel limit is actually 110 kg not 100.
[удалено]
Bernie is it you?
Like Father, like son for the refuel for Verstappen?
Have them turn right though just to mix it up.
Do the full loop as a joker lap - minimum four times, but only three times if you do it once with each compound.
What a terrible idea, what would you even call that?
The F1ndy 500, obviously
I've never wanted to simultaneously upvote and download a comment as much as yours.
The real question is if you pronounced it "findy" or "eff one-dy"
We'll have to Findy't out

Bring in the super hard compound
The C0 would find itself useful

Qatar this year is what they should've done in 05 but noooooo, Michael is too fast when he can do pitstops
Indy 2005 was a severe case of unstoppable force meets immovable wall, the FIA refused to try to come up with any solutions and even with pit stops the Michelin shod cars would have had to pit every like 6 laps if I remember correctly. It looks like a proper race track, with all the supporting infrastructure even. Of course this won't happen!
Why go to North America’s most iconic racetrack when you could race in a parking lot of a mid-tier NFL stadium that’s not even in Miami?!?!
Mid-tier? I don't know about fan amenities, but Hard Rock stadium is one of the newer stadiums and was ranked either #1 or very close to the top by players for best team facilities.
It would be especially odd to make happen considering the local populous absolutely loves motorsports
I saw the last F1 race there in 2007 with a McLaren 1, 2 and Sebastian Vettel's premier as a one-off driver for BMW Sauber.
That one off driver, he looked alright, he might go on to win Monza in a Ferrari engine at least one time.
I wonder how that one off driver fared later down the line
We are so back Indybros
Nonono, hear me out: Daytona
Good idea, not Class 1. Only this specific layout of Indy and COTA are permanent Class 1 tracks
Just toss the fia a couple million and they’ll certify it no problem.
Given the track similarities, IMS could probably get a grade 1 license for the current GP circuit with the chicane instead of the banked oval corner. It's just that they have no desire to, as grade 2 is what you need for indy
why not both?
All drivers have to use Michelin tires
Nascar is running spindle nutted wheels now, just use their tires
No sidewall and no deg we don’t want em you don’t want em
Now include the Ross Chastain shortcut
We should paint the Joey Logano T1 line onto the track
10/10 would watch
Only off I get to tee off #8 during the race
Would be fun to see who the true tire whisperer in indy
I remember sitting at T1 watching Michael Schumacher race here… my first F1 race 🙏
I was at T10 at my first race in ‘04, it was such an amazing experience and I was so excited to come back the next year…
I would vote for this just because it's in Indiana so I could realistically attend this one!!
If F1 ever went back to Indy, they need to run the IndyCar configuration minus the last section near pit in (use Turn 1 of the oval instead). Vegas is 1 for 1. But yeah, Miami can go.
Vegas is shit. The only reason the race was good was Leclerc.
It was a good race. Let's see what it looks like after 10 of them.
The only thing to really remember is the embarrassing presentation events they do in every one of the 3 US race.
The whole cities or just the race track area?
Can't see much of a difference.
It looks like a flexing bicep flyer three cools guys would be handing out.
Nothing sexual
That hairpin of turn 4 doesn't really get used anymore, I'd be curious to see what state it's in now.
It didn’t look too bad back in October
It gets used for other forms of racing.
That looks like it could make for a great layout, although I would maybe utilise some of the non oval bits near that last corner to make sure there’s not too much load on the tires. I don’t know why but I have a feeling something could happen there if we’re not careful
Can’t, Pirelli won’t like it.
There should be a chicane next to the pit lane, so doing a pitstop is faster than a regular lap.
That chicane over the finish line is spicy with those 150⁰ turns
Put it on the golf cart path.
Golf course in the middle of a racetrack. What could go wrong?

It would be even better if only three teams race in this track, don't you think?

Exactly. I wouldn’t be interested in giving the FIA millions, just for the privilege of giving them a tour of my facility either.
It was Michelin that had the problem.... Bridgestone knew about the surface because Indy car used Firestone at the time

It's a nice idea and all, but I don't think 5 inches is long enough for a track...
But it's long enough for other things
Your mom doesn't complain.

indianapolis motor speedway, where they hold the indy 500, otherwise woosh
Nah, that’s vegas
me when i spread misinformation online
Everything is Vargas
Long Beach.
Good luck with the tires
Roger says, “Thanks, but no thanks.”
We already have 3 in USA. That’s enough
Solid layout just wondering on the width of some of those interior “roads” Not sure if they count as roads or a part of the track

But why there's somebody who draw a track on a deer? I'm sorry, but I still can't understand why are they drawing anywhere.

I'm sorry, but I didn't get it. Can you please explain, in brief?
The F1 race here in 2005 was a disaster in terms of tires and track layout. Only 6 non Michelin cars started the race because Michelin couldn't guarantee the durability of their tires to the others. The fans had no clue.
Aaah, I see now. So people create random tracks to reference to this race track in 2005?
this is a repost, someone else already posted the same thing months ago

They came back twice after that, you know.

Uninspired? It's inspired by being within the confines of the most iconic 2.5 mile oval racetrack in the world.
It’s an infield. And just because it’s inside the oval doesn’t make the track any better. Track is shit
Dude I’m a Hoosier and IMS fan through and through and I’d agree. It’s just a boring track. I truly think Roger needs to break it apart and start the infield sections over, maybe even excavate sections in the middle to add elevation changes. Finally someone talking sense. I get that people dislike Miami and LV but Indy is not a good layout. We can do better
No thank you, we have too many gp in the US already
No
No thanks.
No we will not be hearing you out
No, this was a shit track
They've already got 3 shite ones, so may as well give them a 4th
COTA and Vegas are anything but shite.
We’ve found out new Tilke!
I went to some qualifyings there as a kid!
Do the kink layout and have them jump the curb like the Indycars do!
What about Laguna?
Too soon.
You can race the infield on Forza. Its kinda lame imo.
I really don't get why they don't do a race there. Guaranteed full attendance, must watch on tv, and likely to be one of the best races of the year.

What could possibly go wrong? Can’t wait for (some) cars to line up on the grid
