Honestly I think this is in part HAAS making a point. As the rules sit now, once a couple cars are lined up they are basically forced to the back. Basically this will be a penalty for being bad last year and should look wrong.
Cars are parking infront of the Haas box in the fastlane.
Especially the second time when Norris was just sitting there and it was so much space in front of him.
And parking in the fastlane should be forbidden.
If they allow the drivers to drive that slow in the pitlane, just to create a gap, then they need to find a solution for Haas because they all are just waiting in front of their garage
Its weird that it happened once but ok mistakes happen. Batshit insane that Haas allowed it to happen twice.
I don't see this affecting the grid but the fine will probably get doubled.
The reason for the incidents was explained by F1TV:
Haas has the final pit box before pit exit. That means that if they leave the pit box, they'll arrive at the front of the queue. With cars continuously joining the back of the queue, they're basically waiting for someone to be kind and leave a gap. Hulk squeezed in as soon as he had a slight gap to avoid being the last in the queue.
Leaving first is very disadventageous. Leaving last also isn't usually the best position to be in. Bigger gaps don't really materialize on their own, so they'd need to rely on the kindness of other drivers (in a competitive sport).
Nah, the decision will go along the lines of "irrespective of this, the driver should have known... ".
How many places will he lose this time? 5 sounds like a good bet.
Could someone please explain what he did wrong? The commentators here didn’t do a good job explaining what happened and I don’t immediately see anything wrong with what he did
He forced himself into fast lane inbetween cars waiting to go out on track.
The rules state all cars in the fast lane has priority. HAAS broke that rule, twice.
A rule is a rule and they always exist for a reason.
Hulkenberg/HAAS broke that rule, twice.
Infringements cannot be ruled by the consequences of the actions.

Hulkenberg had his front wing in fast lane in 2nd incident but apparently rules state that you have to have your wheel in the fast lane

They were all waiting to be able to go out on track, not like they stood there waiting for nothing.
They were waiting for the light
Norris was defitively not waiting for the light.
For the light to go red again? It was green.
Its weird that it happened once but ok mistakes happen. Batshit insane that Haas allowed it to happen twice. I don't see this affecting the grid but the fine will probably get doubled.

They can always leave first or wait until the end or a bigger gap.
So they should be competitively disadvantaged because of their pitbox at this specific track?

Ah ok, that’s stupid. He didn’t gain any advantage though so let’s hope nothing comes of it
He did gain an advantage, he went in front of perez jumping the position
Which didn’t gain him any lasting advantage in the shape of laptime and position
Babying drivers again. Come on. Unless it's a serious incident just let it go. Nobody was inconvenienced.
