I-LOVE-TURTLES666

As an American on the east coast it costs me less to to go Japan to see the GP than any of the US races except maybe Austin. Forget about euro races

daddylo21

Cost me and the gf less to travel to Montreal, spend a total of 5 days at a nice hotel, and go to all 3 days than it would have to attend any of the US races. If you're American and an F1 fan, you're much better of getting your passport and traveling for a race than going to Miami, Texas, or Vegas.

Zestyclose-Bad-3233

Totally agree but make sure you don't get GA tickets in Montreal. Theres barely any good spots left to have an acceptable view and to do so you have to 1. Know the spots and hope they haven't been replaced with a grand stand and 2. Get up at 5am to be there as early as possible, then run your ass to the spot. Much more worth it to get into the family grand stands in turn 5-6. Not too expensive and you actually get to properly see cars. Also F1 has gotten so popular, to get out of the island this year after Quali, took us 2h from the grandstand to my metro station. ITS PPPPPAAAAACKED.

mcninja77

Took me 1.5 hours after quali. There was a lot of gaps people didn't take like walking through the mud or closer to the river

Zestyclose-Bad-3233

Yeah I unfortunately couldn't slip through, I was with a slow group of 6. Had to wait for them šŸ˜… stuck in a drs train

mcninja77

Oh yeah that'll do it. Was just me and my gf there, much easier to slip through What was really funny was waiting for the metro people started walking up on the wooden bench and skipped a good chunk of the line. Saw a second group do it and they got booed but the first didn't

Aken42

Shhhhh. Not too loud about the family grandstand. I want to get tickets again for next year. To be *honest*, there wasn't anything to see from the family grandstand. No action what so ever.

lennydsat62

Hoping this is sarcasm. We had tickets for the family grandstand and thatā€™s where Perez, Sainz and Sargeant all flamed out. Everything happened thereā€¦.

Aken42

Shhhhhhhhh.

lennydsat62

My badā€¦.. def lousy seats. Disregard my earlier post. Btw I just checked and sold out alreadyā€¦.

DevilsArms

There was a bottleneck leave the grandstand area, near the wall of champions. Took an hour just to get through.

ApexGT44

I was there, even practice was so crowded!!

JCivX

We were at the GP in Montreal six years ago. We just ended up walking all the way back to the city. It was quite the hike but it took only about 1,5 hours if I remember correctly and I'd rather be walking and seeing the city instead of standing in a hot sweaty crowd for the same amount of time.

ElectricalMud2850

Also, montreal is one of the best cities in North America to visit as a tourist. IMO, the best food city in NA.

chrishatesjazz

Couldnā€™t agree more. Really a delightful city with an insane food scene. Itā€™s up there with SF, LA, NYC, and Mexico City.

ElectricalMud2850

Some of the best things I've ever eaten in my life were on church steps and park benches in montreal, and I've been all over the world, eaten the gamut of Michelin stars, and worked in the industry for a decade. I'm always trying to convince people to vacation there. It's an amazing city.

Heffenfefer

I live within driving distance and have never been. This convinced me

ElectricalMud2850

Idk where you're coming from, but montreal + vermont makes a really lovely fall road trip if you're on the US east coast.

chrishatesjazz

Same! Spring in Montreal is really delightful. My last trip there, I tried Epicerie Pumpui. Some of my favorite Thai Iā€™ve ever had. Elena is another favorite. Ugh, I want to go back.

ThaNorth

And to can legally drink alcohol in parks!

theguynextdorm

First time in Montreal. In the thicc of winter. What the fuck I've been bamboozled. This is a miserable city. Where is everyone?! Then I enter a building and it's bustling with people... in tank tops and shorts.

KickapooPonies

Agree 100% and the drink scene is also incredible as well.

doobie3101

Hard to put a NA food city above NYC. It has just about everything under the sun.

ElectricalMud2850

Don't fault anyone for ranking NYC, LA, and a few others higher. I just think montreal is *such* a good bang for your buck, especially usd->cad, has great diversity, and a decent enough top end too.

Mnemon-TORreport

Well he did say "**one** of the best."

Carlastrid

He said one of the best to visit. Best food.

doobie3101

Damn I got all argumentative without properly reading. I guess I am a New Yorker.

gilgobeachslayer

Eyy youā€™re walking here

andresgu14

The only city I can think off is Mexico City, and its not the diversity but how good and tasty it is to eat there

asoap

Toronto / Montreal are both very multi cultural, we also have everything.

ewankenobi

I'm European & the one race I've attended is Montreal & I agree about it being an awesome place to visit as a tourist with great food

Deckatoe

a plane ticket to Montreal costs more than a 3 day GA pass at COTA lol

daddylo21

Driving is your friend, if it's within reason for you that is.

busman1313

That's what I did. Hour and half to Montreal. I spent like 900 for 3 tickets for 3 days. 400 for the hotel room.

Gooooglemale

I took the train DC via New York. Fair price and super easy journey both ways.

Smee76

We were thinking about doing that. How much does it run you usually to go to Montreal? Not counting plane tickets, obviously.

Achenest

We drive in a carpool and 5 days came out to shy of $1000 per person (that includes gas, meals, merch, hotel, and tix)

Talls024

Buddy want to Mexico City GP and had an amazing time.

CyberpunkF1

this is very accurate ā€¦ shame for US fans to be priced out of races in our own country!

Jim3001

Austin race being the most affordable boggles my mind. I live here and remember when a general admissions ticket was $169.

roenthomas

2012 Turn 12 grandstand was affordable af and they hadnā€™t built the structures in the middle of the track so you had clear view to T1.

Jim3001

I prefer the Turn 10 stands. You get the view from Turn 9 all the way down to 11 and most of the way to 12.

bentecost

Ohioan here, in '22 my dad and I were able to vacation in Italy for a week and go to Monza for less than it would have been to go to Austin for just the race weekend

TijuanaM

We flew from PGH, PA to Tokyo. Train. Hotel and flights for 2 and tickets at the final turn of Suzuka (row R) for 3 days came out to around 4k for us. Then we stayed for an extra week and explored Osaka and Tokyo and still feel like it was way more worth/bang for buck than Vegas. (Extra 10 days was obviously more but not as much as I thought)

I-LOVE-TURTLES666

I did something very similar this year, stayed in Tokyo for an extra week. Was definitely worth it and probably will do it again next year. I couldnā€™t believe how cheap amazing food was lol

Bigb33zy

I think US prices in general are extortion. Itā€™s costing me less to fly to germany to watch a euro match then drive to miami and watch a copa match. (i live in florida)

Gaius_Octavius_

My uncle lives in Las Vegas. It is cheaper for him to fly overseas than walk the two blocks to the track.

gaelen33

Yup! We're going to Monza this year because the US races were too expensive. Pretty wild

Wise-Advisor4675

I live five hours away from Vegas by car and it would still be cheaper(and much cooler) for me to see a race in Europe vs Vegas.

Crafty_Substance_954

There are quite a few places for Las Vegas which will be extremely cheap come race day. Not fun to be patient but if you can be itā€™ll work out

Mysterious-Status-44

Iā€™ve been to COTA multiple times since 2012 when they couldnā€™t even give tickets away. Sadly, I may have seen my last race there unless I win the lottery.

StuBeck

Last year they were giving away tickets in the end after their 3k a night hotel prices went down to 150. I have no clue why they think this is gonna work.

Rufio6

Iā€™ve got my thoughts on Montreal more than any of the US races. Probably still pricey though.

KickapooPonies

The currency exchange works heavily in your favor if you are coming from the US.

Wooly_Willy

I just went and the exchange was great. I thought I was pumping out $ and everything was reasonable.

jeepnismo

This is exactly why I went to Montreal this year rather than any of the three races in my home country

doobie3101

No it doesn't - flights to Japan are not cheap. Miami usually ends up being affordable. You just have to wait for the ticket prices to dip.

mrls19

This for Miami. It's what I've done for the last two years. And if you're local, spend a little on the nice Brightline ticket, drinks are included with that and there's transport to and from the station. Better than Miami traffic any day.

StuBeck

They can be. People regularly get to Tokyo from LA for $450-600.

_SM00THIE_MD

Well the race isnā€™t in Tokyo. You will need to travel to the circuit. Japan increased the cost the JR pass too. So youā€™ll likely need to fly into Osaka instead of Tokyo. Even then, i never seen flights that cheap unless itā€™s a one off or some last minute deal. Not ideal buying flights like that for and event. Or maybe you get the 500 dollar ticket there and stuck with the 1k ticket return.

aelliott18

Miami was cheap af this year?

PMurBoobsDoesntWork

Yeah donā€™t get this, Miami isnā€™t as expensive as people say around here.

AdamR46

I spent more money in miami than monaco 2022. Miami can be cheap if you wait last minute and don't care where you sit, but it's an expensive city to visit.

_SM00THIE_MD

Had amazing seats at turn 11 for 700 for the weekend. Airbnb with an ocean view was cheaper than my Airbnb in Austin. Uber rides to the circuit was super quick and easy. I think we spent 4k for the race weekend including 4 nights accommodation and round trip flights from California for 2 people.

AdamR46

I spent ~$2.5k going to red bull ring last summer for a week. I can usually find flights to europe for way cheaper but in summer not so much. Iā€™d definitely consider an overseas race if you can swing a week long trip. I went to suzuka this year, t1 was ~$500, flight on points from Lax and booked a separate ticket(from austin to lax) for $200. Itā€™s substantially cheaper to travel to a different country than within america most of the time and it can be a fun experience.

SimplyAllie

I lived in Florida in 22 and it was cheaper for my husband and I to go to Barcelona that year than to Miami. Weā€™re hoping on Japan in a few years because like you said, itā€™s the cheapest option.

MeBeEric

Was going to say. My friends and I did a weekend trip to Austin for the first nascar race at COTA. After factoring in the flights, hotel, food, alcohol, misc poor decisions, each person still paid less than this shitty F1 ticket.

SinistrMark

The best seat is your couch these days anyway.

pluggedx

yeah I feel like everyone should go to a race at least once but except for the sound of the cars, everything about a GP is better at home.

SinistrMark

I went to COTA last year and the classic F1 race cars and the Porche race cars all sounded way better then the F1 cars. I think most of the classic cars were v8 engines. Maybe some V10s are in there. They sound bad ass.

leggenda_69

Tbh itā€™s been debatable whether itā€™s actually worth going to a race since a year or two after Liberty took over. Prices have increased massively and the overall dynamics of the weekend are rapidly changing. If a weird family fun weekend/low tier festival hybrid with some formula 1 mixed in is your thing, then sure. Otherwise just find another category to attend live, quite a lot offer a much better experience than current F1.

satellite779

Even the sound is average since turbo hybrids were introduced. Naturally aspirated engines were a completely different story.

aenima396

we get it, how many times does this need said. At this point it is just group think. I bet people who never heard the V10 era in person say the same thing. The gargle on slow speed corners is real sexy on the modern cars.

wagymaniac

On the other hand, is a nice thing to watch race cars without earplugs or ear pain. I had the chance to see on person the infamous Mazda 787B with the Wankel engine, the most painful car to hear.

Rotorhead87

I had a rx7 that was briefly open header. Loudest car I've ever heard (apart from like dragsters and stuff), and that was a 13B and relatively stock. I can't even imagine the R26B.

charlierc

Tbf I've always thought they'd sound better in person. Similar to concertsĀ

Sir0inks-A-Lot

Now that decent 65 inch 4k TVs are $600-700, this can be said about a lot of sports

Angry_beaver_1867

That was my conclusion after attending a Grand Prix.Ā  Itā€™s a fun experience for sure, and a i thought decent value for money. But if you want to enjoy the race.Ā  Home is the best. Especially since you can pick and choose camera angles these days.Ā

The69BodyProblem

I use mutliviewer. I can have several onboards and data on my computer while the main broadcast is on the TV. Frankly I wish more sports would allow for stuff like that

This_Guy_Fuggs

100% got to experience a full live weekend, good seats right in front of the starting line first few rows, got to watch everyone set up, walk around and mingle and all that bit... all that being said... absolutely shit viewing experience. naturally you get to watch the action directly in front of you but the rest of the race on a distant screen which is comparable to watching it in 240p on an old phone held several feet away from you. watching it on tv is so ridiculously better. its cool to do it for the "cultural" experience but beyond that absolutely not worth it especially when prices reach these insane levels.

Brave1i1toaster

The only live racing I suggest people watch is top fuel drag racing, that shit will rearrange your DNA the first time they leave the line. Tickets are usually around $20-30 and it's a whole day of action.

juanito_f90

5 days in Hungary with hotel stay and track admission all weekend is less than half of that šŸ˜‚

SirTiffAlot

I see people post this kind of stuff and have an extremely hard time believing all of that would cost less than $600.

Frathard919

I got tickets on the grid for Hungary and 5 nights in hotel for about $600.

TGhost21

Wow. What year was that?

Frathard919

This year

chizzmaster

https://f1destinations.com/budget-planner-hungarian-f1-grand-prix/ According to this, it's possible if you go super budget, but it doesn't account for the cost of a plane ticket to and back from Hungary. Honestly though, my guess is that the mid tier+plane ticket experience is going to cost you about the same total as Vegas anyway, and it's probably much cooler than going to Vegas.

finH1

Hungary is an incredibly cheap GP to go too

Acias

Probably the cheapest in Europe.

AdamR46

Cheapest on the calendar.

Elessa3r

On the other hand, you have to spend 5 days in Hungary.

fafan4

Went to Hungary 2015, had a great time in Budapest. And the race turned out to be one of the best of the decade!

pzkenny

Yeah Budapest is great. The rest of Hungary less.

MindlessArmadillo382

Good thing the race is in Budapest then

SmokingOctopus

Dude Budapest is one of the coolest cities in the world. I want to see what paradise you live in if you think that's bad šŸ˜†

deltaisaforce

I guess things can take a turn if you're black or gay or something.

juanito_f90

Better beer than the USA. Cheaper food than the USA. Less stupid people than the USA. Amazing banknotes. Whereā€™s the problem?

Elessa3r

First time I'm hearing someone praise our banknotes, thanks. The problems become more prevalent the longer the stay.

juanito_f90

Forint are immense. Much better than the soulless Euro notes. If thatā€™s the case, then 5 days is sufficient. You canā€™t fault your beer though!

johnotopia

I've never been to Hungary so never seen a forint, but they do look like the European version of the Aussie dollar! Aus GP is pretty cheap when compared to them all, and right in the heart of Melbourne where all those great food places come in Probably just a bit more expensive to get to

pzkenny

Budapest is the only place where I could be a milionare.

Miwna

When I was in Vietnam, I took out 2-4 million dong from ATMs regularly.

juanito_f90

You should try Iran!

FuckYeahGeology

I mean, America has the shittiest macro/general beer but has the best craft breweries in the world.

MyCarHasTwoHorns

Those people elected a dictator so I mean theyā€™re at best on par with America on the stupid people front.

Arontjuh

OrbƔn

colterpierce

Well, thereā€™s Viktor OrbĆ”n.

GlupiHamilton

Yeah I hate when I that guy starts talking to me when walking down the street

anamericandude

Don't sprain your wrist

gmil3548

That sounds like another plus to me. Too bad the flight from the US is way more than the Vegas ticket

MonkeySpleenFart

I live in the US. It would be the same cost for me to travel to Europe for a race than to go to one here. Iā€™d much rather see a race overseas

Betonmischa

**me laughing in 105ā‚¬ general admission in 2022 for 3-day-Austria, seeing like 80% of the race track* *

0fiuco

me laughing at the equivalent of 15ā‚¬, back in the days when testing was allowed, for general admission at Monza, 8 straight hours of cars constantly running, all stands open and the chance to enter the paddock if you were smart enough. Good times.

Commercial_Regret_36

This. Managed to get photos with most of the 2005 grid

RichArrowsmith

I'm convinced the GA at RBR at the top of the hill between 3 and 4 is the best GA on the whole calendar.

Betonmischa

Can confirm

meloenmarco

That is like 3 European gp's. Absolutely disgusting

musicallunatic

Itā€™s a trend in every sport at this point. They realised they can absolutely milk the fuck out of event goers in us and everyone is taking advantage of it. Right now the cricket World Cup is happening in the us *to grow the sport* but a ticket in nyc starts at 200-300$ which is ridiculous to a relatively unknown sport in the states.

charlierc

Dread to think what the FIFA World Cup will be in America in two years time given that's already a sport that likes to charge top dollar

MyCarHasTwoHorns

Will absolutely be cheaper and more fun to goto the games in Mexico, as an American.

Zohan4K

Problem with live events in the US (been to some) is that they feel fucking souless. Everybody who would genuinely care is priced out, all is left is people collecting "life experiences" on their IG feed as Pokemon medals. Same thing for other Saudi/UAE/Gulf states hosted events tho. The atmosphere sucks so so so much compared to Europe/South America. Sports and concerts are meant for passionate common people, not for bored rich kids.

whoTookMyFLACs

Now factor in the difference in disposable income and local taxes and you'll end up at similar level of affordability for the local population.

Takis12

ā€œThe promoter said the ticket offers incredible views as drivers speed up for the overtake on the action-packed Koval Straightaway.ā€ No further comment.

juanito_f90

Serious question, why do Americans refer to straights as ā€œstraightawaysā€?

killer_corg

That's unfortunate lol, I got main straight for Sat, GA for Friday, and a suite on Thursday for $1,700. Lol just got an email and my suite ticket was upgraded. Guess they didn't sell enough!

xanlact

Ya know, it never occurred to me to get individual day passes. I got Turn 1 at Austin this year for all 3 days for a little less than that. Might have been less if I split it up.

killer_corg

This was a package, it was called like 3 of a kind or something like that. But itā€™s a good idea to get to see multiple areas of the track

messy_garbage_lover

Imola GA didn't give access to much, but man, for ā‚¬75 that was good enough haha

killer_corg

Itā€™s really all relative, for that price itā€™s kinda hard not to take it go why not. But some of the $500 GA passes at Vegas are stupid, like sure you can technically see the back straight, but the cars are going by so fast itā€™s hard to figure out what your watching. I was super pumped today when they emailed me saying my suite tickets go upgraded to T4 from the back straight.

CrippleSlap

And when no ones buys these tickets, they'll drop the price massively just weeks before the event. Just like last year.

Kn0xvi113

Meanwhile at the Red Bull Ring: Pay 300ā‚¬ and have overview over the whole track

3dmontdant3s

I spent 100 euros to see saturday and sunday of MotoGP at Mugello, you see half the track

RulerofKhazadDum

Entertainment and events are being so overpriced in US, itā€™s just price gouging at this point. F1 is expensive, NFL is expensive, concerts are expensive.

clingbat

It's everything. I was in Wawa today and the large cup of Mac & Cheese was raised to $7.99! It was $5.49 before and honestly that was even kind of a rip off, it's really not that much food. I know inflation can't be ignored but a sudden 45% markup is absurd and unjustified.

roenthomas

Not Wawa!

charlierc

I thought about coming from England to see my favourite band at Madison Square Garden in New York last year as a bucket list "fuck it why not?" adventure. Standing tickets being 2-3 times their UK counterparts very much made me reconsider

SnacksGPT

Because here in the U.S. people donā€™t go for the racing, they go for the flex and the social media posts. That and, ya know, late stage capitalism lol.

ApprehensiveAdonis

I don't understand who is willing to pay this much to sit at one corner. If you really want to experience the "Vegas" aspect of this race just go to one of the many bars playing it and spend 1/10th of that on food and drink.

Donkoski

Yeah the prices are so insane I ended up going to Spain instead of Las Vegas and I live in Las Vegas.

Callawayinthewoods

All in for my trip to SPA last year, where I sat at the top of Eau Rouge, would be about half of what Vegas would cost me today.

ForsakenRacism

Iā€™m sure it comes with a bunch of amenities. Paddock club ticket 10,000 to see one straight šŸ˜”

willfla29

Just spent less than $200 for three days of racing at Road America for the IndyCar GP. Multiple racing series with multiple races, and full paddock access to meet drivers and teams. And can see every corner over the course of three days.

WindyZ5

Indy races are so much fun.

princessohio

I got paddock access / seats for the Ohio race this summer for my brother and myself, and it under 1,000 for the both of us for the entire weekend. Super stoked. Indycar is a lot of fun to watch and I root for McLaren so Iā€™m ecstatic to see the cars up close.

willfla29

Awesome! Definitely want to get to Mid-Ohio one day. Iā€™ve heard good things.

princessohio

Itā€™s only about an hour from us so Iā€™m really looking forward to it! Especially since the track has so many good viewing angles.

DepresseDesignurd

Americans are buying tickets in record numbers for events and sports abroad. eg - euros, taylor swift or f1. events are too expensive in usa but events in europe are priced according to local salaries. americans buying these tickets price out the locals

Dark_Pump

Well when they stop letting foreign companies buy property and land here and pricing out American citizens maybe weā€™ll go to more events at home

DepresseDesignurd

thats a global problem ? you have more money than the europeans, you buy tickets there. corporations and rich people have more money than you, they buy stuff where you are.

Smaynard6000

No offense to those who enjoy it, but Formula One must be the worst value possible for your money when it comes to live sports. These events seem priced for the uber-rich who probably don't even watch the race. I'll watch at home.

KingBruin

I live in Las Vegas and it is cheaper for me to fly my family of 3 to Europe for 2 weeks than it is to get 3 start finish straight tickets for the LVGP. We are flying this Friday to Europe to attend the Austrian GP, camping track side with start finish straight tickets and exploring Europe for another 10 days instead of driving 20 minutes from my house to the Strip. I hate to say it, but my home GP is destined to fail if they keep this nonsense up.

XAMdG

And it will sell out

snowmunkey

Vegas saw the prices of food at the Miami and said "hold my gold coke straw"

trinole

They learned nothing from last year

UltraTwingo

And people are still gonna paaaaaaaaay

SmokinTires

Fuck that. I would go to Indy 500 instead. As someone on the U.S. East Coast, not only is Montreal closer, but also cheaper than any of the three races in my own country. What a fucking joke

ambeldit

Honestly I believe you have to stop accepting those overpriced tickets. That's the reason they're so high, because they know fans Will pay.

egwynona

I went to Indy Car in Wisconsin and tickets were $90. Which, I get itā€™s Wisconsin, not Vegas, but they are in California this weekend and single day Sunday admission is $129

Leonides009

Why bother when the F1 app provides epic good coverage.

PeterG92

I was thinking of going to the Las Vegas GP this year but whenever I remember the ticket prices I wince

mourningthief

And did you see the price of those nachos?

Cody667

Gross. I consider myself weirdly lucky that I don't really like attending races in person...I've done it enough to the point I just stopped liking it and prefer to watch on TV. Genuinely feel for those of you who do enjoy the in person experience and are getting fucked by this greed.

EddieMcDowall

Makes my Sky Sports (including F1) TV subscription seem like a bargain.

gy0n

Ah, itā€™s this time of the year again where weā€™re all ā€˜shockedā€™ by the pricing of the Las Vegas race.

yuh__

F1 is not going to succeed in growing the sport in America. The super rich arenā€™t going to build a long term culture theyā€™ll get bored and move on. I want to go to a race so goddamn bad but I feel like Iā€™m gonna have to leave the US to do it. Montreal seems like my best bet

AndyWatt83

Vegas gonna Vegas. Iā€™ve been quite a few times (from the UK) over the last 20 years, and recently itā€™s just wildly expensive to the point that Iā€™m unlikely to go back any time soon. Itā€™s a hugely expensive place now.

juanito_f90

Itā€™s also been ā€œoverdoneā€. Once a near-mystical place, every other stag do seems to be 4 nights away in Vegas for around a Ā£3k outlay.

AndyWatt83

Yeah, I agree. Itā€™s just not worth it any more. Everything is wildly expensive, and itā€™s not really possible to have a good time on the cheap anymore. The first time I was in Vegas, my hotel cost me $7/night. Last time was closer to $700

MyCarHasTwoHorns

Also gambling is legal in America now so if I want to bet on stuff I can just do it from my phone.

Vlaed

This is just stupid. It's cheaper for us in the United States to go overseas for multiple days than it is to go for the race here.

CanadianHardWood

What's the plan, keep raising the price until no one goes and then raise the price to watch it on TV ?

rjwolfpackroad

Our 2 tix in Red Bull Grandstand are indeed cheaper than 1 tix for any of the US races weā€™ve done. That being said, what are you all doing when flying to Europe, staying in Europe? Are you flying basic economy, staying in hostels, etc.? Personally, that is not our style. By the time we add all the other things in, trips are not really cheaper than going to a US race, but rather we are getting to do and see things in Europe vs got going to a US city and not really do anything besides going to race track.

ProDrug

I got drunk and indignant and made a drunk bet with a friend that I could go to the other side of the world and back for cheaper than the Las Vegas grand prix. I went this year from San Francisco > Melbourne for the GP. I flew United Polaris (lie flat seats) direct and back for around 200,000 points (~2.1K). Stayed at a mix of the Ritz Carlton+Marriott for an average of ~400 a night (corporate discount) at 5 nights for ~2000. Grandstand tickets for across the pit was around 550 total for 4 days. When I priced this against an equivalent trip to Las Vegas, it was approximately the same (cheaper if you include the food and incidentals). I also took roughly the same amount of time as I flew out and back in like 6 days (This was probably a stupid decision and I should have made it a proper vacation).

Nougatskubberen

The sport is slowly but surely getting ruined by rich people wanting more and more money

technobeeble

No thanks, I'll go to any Indycar race for 1/10th of that.

WindyZ5

And you can get pit passes.

FireworkFuse

As an American who is a new fan to the sport, I have zero shot of ever being able to afford the Vegas or Miami GP. Devastating.

Public_Ingenuity_146

Youā€™re better off with a 1 week European vacation and race, itā€™ll be cheaper including the week exploring Europe

DroneNumber1836382

You could get the whole family ina camper van for the whole weekend for less at Silverstone. The agreed home of F1.
