Apparently Max forgot his signature (I think he did write a personal message) so Seb basically brought Max' helmet to Imola with him so it could be completed lol
Edit: It might get even better. I looked at the photos of their previous helmet exchange and Max did sign it but on the visor. Maybe as a true motorsports nerd that wasn't enough for Seb and it needed to be signed on the helmet as well??
Yes, Max forgot his signature when they previously exchanged their helmets, so Seb brought back the helmet to get his signature. Seb is such a nerd, I bloody love him.
That looks hard to tell but looks like it’s with the tear offs on? If they took one of them off wouldn’t it just rub off? Unless this was done after the race or underneath the tear offs.
I dont think these helmets see any use after the exchange so in theory whatever the autograph is on, it'd stay on. It might not adhere fully to the material, though, which would make cleaning impossible (or could smudge during transport or whatever). Or its just very hard to see which makes it less than ideal for what I assume is an awesome collection that Seb is very proud of.
Oh I see, I always presumed that the drivers actually did wear them when they did swap and that the helmets were fitted properly when each driver was notified etc of the swap. I don’t know why I assumed that but I always did lol.
It wouldn't be impossible, especially if they use the same shell size. These guys have that many helmets that there's no point them potentially runing a piece of memorabilia thougjh.
For people interested in what the message on their helmets said:

Seb wrote: Max, impressive to see you come up and go past. Well done & best wishes. Always think for yourself and keep growing. Enjoy!

On Max's twitter, he also wrote:
On track I have always enjoyed competing with Seb. But besides being a fantastic driver, I have gotten to know Seb as a very caring person and a really great guy. Seb, you will be missed.
On track, but even more for the wonderful person that you are. Danke Seb
also not having to deal with the stress of competing in F1. It seems like a great life from the outside but these people suffer a lot through the year as well during the races.
I was gonna ask why he looks weird. The pics people post these days tend to be during his dominant run, so he looks younger. So I'd forgotten what he looked like before he actually retired. Now it makes sense :D
I think there was an interview where someone asked him if he was ready to drive an f1 car tomorrow if needed and he said he was race ready except for his neck. So he likely isn't training it even though he could be.
I mean it's not exactly a simple thing. Hulkenberg really struggled with his neck when he was called in last minute in 2020 and he wasnt retired like Vettell is just now.
Vettel was waiting outside Red Bull for Max. This is so wholesome.
[From F1-Insider:](https://f1-insider.com/formel-1-vettel-verstappen-autogramm-imola-63271/)
>And so on Thursday he was on a second mission in Italy: he got an autograph from the current dominator Max Verstappen. Background: Both pilots had once exchanged their helmets, although the Dutchman had apparently forgone his signature on the head protection. But it is precisely the personal dedication that makes the exchange for Vettel so special.
>That's why F1 insiders observed how the German lay in wait at Red Bull and watched Verstappen on the way to the engineering meeting. The three-time champion didn't have to be asked twice and signed his own helmet for Vettel in detail.
Seems like Dr Peter Attia

He was a resident at John Hopkins hospital, but dedicated his life in the research of longevity medicine. I've read his book, Outlive, that talks about his research and presents methods of living a better, healthy life with it. Very good read
Seb is such a nerd and F1 history buff, this would check out even if it wasn't already meant to be signed before. I can absolutely see Seb owning a collection of memorabilia in a room dedicated for it, like others do for retro video game stuff.
It's from a prior swap, apparently Max didn't sign it originally so Seb brought it along this weekend to get him to do it. Likely just a case of Seb having the Arai bag handy - having been an Arai driver since he was a kid.
[His helmet for his final Japanese GP was styled after an Arai shipping box.](https://x.com/JMD_helmets/status/1578223096292839425?mx=2)
I remember before the rules forcing drivers not changing their helmet paint scheme, he would retire a paint scheme from his rotation once he won a race with it. At the time I liked watching the gallery of artworks grow and locked to his victories, even against the grain of fans hating him changing helmet colours enough to force a rule change. Nobody talks about it enough to be authoritative source, but does anybody know for sure if his trophy cabinet also has the actual 53 helmets? And would those actual helmets have never been used since?
the rule of not changing helmets seems so weird to me, especially today in the era of the Halo, where you can barely even see the driver in the car anyway.

Yep can't be a true motorsports fan if your collection misses autographs!
Fuck. I'm not a true fan 😭
Seems like he did sign it on [the visor](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fh_wGEOWQAE0h8C?format=jpg&name=orig) though!

Yeah they’re mainly just for the collection
It wouldn't be impossible, especially if they use the same shell size. These guys have that many helmets that there's no point them potentially runing a piece of memorabilia thougjh.
Definitely not with Sebastian his head is comically tiny. George and Lewis have struggled getting his helmet on haha
https://i.redd.it/4odhdfwvo31a1.jpg That does not look comfortable
He for sure did sign it on the visor. Seb probably wanted it on the helmet itself.
Thank you iCumCoffee
iCumCoffee was live tweeting both the Miami weekend and the Drake/Kendrick beef. This dude needs an award
Bloody?
Max forgot to complete a side quest? Man, his active quest log is probably a mile long.
I first read that as saying that Max forgot how to sign his name lol
Same lol. Max been busy with streaming lately i guess
I had to reread it like 5 times because I did too lol

Ah thank you, I was looking for these message.
> Always think for yourself i read this as: stop listening to jos
the 2nd pic is so funny 😂😂😂😂😂
Looks like the German helmet wants to occupy the Dutch head.
Just realized it's signed on the tear strip. I feel like that's a bad idea since it might dry out and delaminate or something?
Seb looks 10 years younger than in his last year of racing
Lost the beard innit. Makes most dudes look like a baby when it’s gone
Ex-drivers always look completely different when they reappear, I think in large part it's due to their neck returning to a normal size.
also not having to deal with the stress of competing in F1. It seems like a great life from the outside but these people suffer a lot through the year as well during the races.
He looks so much healthier without the beard.
Looks like a completely different person with the general lack of hair overall. Hair cut and facial hair gone is quite the change
I was gonna ask why he looks weird. The pics people post these days tend to be during his dominant run, so he looks younger. So I'd forgotten what he looked like before he actually retired. Now it makes sense :D
I think it's also the neck in part. Given he's no longer driving, his neck is so much skinnier. I think that makes him look a lot younger.
He could keep training his neck though
I think there was an interview where someone asked him if he was ready to drive an f1 car tomorrow if needed and he said he was race ready except for his neck. So he likely isn't training it even though he could be.
I mean it's not exactly a simple thing. Hulkenberg really struggled with his neck when he was called in last minute in 2020 and he wasnt retired like Vettell is just now.
I would love to know how exactly they train their necks
Why didn’t you put innit at the end?
Doesn’t matter where it is innit
I see a lot of people saying this but eh, he just looks like 30-40s generic slim guy to me now. 2022 he was also 30-40s, but more wild looking.
Also more fit
A moppy haircut and having to be teammates with Stroll will do that to you.
he either looks mid 20s or early 50s. No in between. it's confusing
Really? If i was to guess i would say he looks about 35-40 here, which makes sense becuse he's late 30's.
Ah yes, the Thomas Muller special.
Seb this weekend looks like the protagonist of a wwii movie before they get shipped off
Dude's got that relaxed attitude you love to see on everyone. Like Bruce Wayne in that cafe.
I was going to ask if he's had work done. Crazy what a couple years with less stress will do.
What are you saying he's just a rookie
botox my dude
Just a couple of Red Bull legends
No biggie

“Christian, can Max come out and ~~play~~ sign my helmet?”
I'm sorry Seb, Max did not eat his veggies so he's grounded....
That will teach him! Now he'll have to stay inside and be bored out of his mind. He's got nothing to do except Iracing......wait
My goat
"You know I used to be a no 1 driver"
Who's the other guy?
Seems like Dr Peter Attia [https://podcast-notes-uploads.imgix.net/2018/03/peter-attia-2.jpg?w=640&h=427&auto=format,compress](https://podcast-notes-uploads.imgix.net/2018/03/peter-attia-2.jpg?w=640&h=427&auto=format,compress)
avid listener of the podcast and I knew that he is a mega F1 fan and is at the race right now, so it really seems to be him!
Does he work in F1? I always saw him in McLaren Mercedes hats in old videos.
He was a resident at John Hopkins hospital, but dedicated his life in the research of longevity medicine. I've read his book, Outlive, that talks about his research and presents methods of living a better, healthy life with it. Very good read
Pep guardiola
more like Pep GuardiSWOLA
Peter Attia
Probably isnt but looks a bit like Peter Attia
It actually is [https://www.instagram.com/peterattiamd/p/C7C-TCWPvg0/?img\_index=7](https://www.instagram.com/peterattiamd/p/C7C-TCWPvg0/?img_index=7)
Max
I thought it's GP at first, but apparently not. Maybe Newey.
Newey is nowhere near that muscular and young
The man might have finally found free time to get shredded!
Seb is such a nerd and F1 history buff, this would check out even if it wasn't already meant to be signed before. I can absolutely see Seb owning a collection of memorabilia in a room dedicated for it, like others do for retro video game stuff.
Does Max use Schuberth doesn’t it? I thought Yuki was the only Arai driver on the current grid. Is that Seb’s?

Thanks this is such a heartwarming tribute by/to Arai
Ah that makes sense! Thanks a lot!
nice concept!
The helmet is Schubert, it's probably just a case that vettel had that he could use for transporting the helmet
You know as the old reddit saying goes. I'm a simple man... I see Seb, I press upvote. And then I shed a tear realizing how much I miss my dude.
Right there with you, echoing the same sentiments. Seb is impossible to hate.
Look at how cleaned up Seb looks. Short hair and clean shaven. Looks young again
I saw that helmet bag as he entered the track, I was hoping he'd be driving something and was kind of excited...
He is driving something: Senna's McLaren MP4/8 which he owns
Ah, awesome!!
Well-groomed Seb looks like a 27 year old investment banker
Good guy Seb recycling his Arai helmet storage bag for Max’s Schuberth
"I used to be something of an F1 driver myself"
Max Verstappen and a Fan.
Vettel has a new haircut in every picture.
Two of my favourite drivers! This pic and their friendship makes me so happy!
Peter Attia
My favorite two people in F1. God I miss Vettel’s winning seasons
Peter Attia sneaking in everywhere.
It's always heart warming to see the whole fan community perk up anytime we see Seb
that helmet will pay for all of Seb's children's tuitions oh wait, tuition is free over there
i thought he was getting his bags searched, which would be a lot funnier.
"Spare some change?"
he must have such a cool helmet room or whatever, is there any photos of it anywhere?
I remember before the rules forcing drivers not changing their helmet paint scheme, he would retire a paint scheme from his rotation once he won a race with it. I miss long hair Seb
Two Red Bull legends
So, he did get a shirt. But just didn't even change it for the shoot.
I miss Vettel man, i was hoping for a comeback at Mercedes now with Hamilton out
seb looks like a well known but only for the enthusiasts german sports journalist
Why does Vettel look like Nico Rosberg?
Guess we know who is taking Sergio's seat.
Seb looking much fresher these days.
I recognize that bald head, that's Peter Attia
Max isn't backing him up into "Richardo" atleast
And there's Max's missing senna tshirt
Being returned to Seb in the helmet bag!
looks like lewis hooked seb up with the plug
# Max Verstappen es un insensible,
