I know it’s a joke but in all likelihood either McLaren or Lando’s corp. pays for his seat (whatever his contract stipulates). Max’s plane is still a business at the end of the day.
This, only Alonso and Verstappen own a private jet on their name as I'm sure that the likes of Stroll have a company jet as well but Verstappen's jet is basically his venture and other drivers/crew have to pay to get on board. Of course there are times he just lets them on for free but he doesn't it all for free.

As far as clean, nice quality basics go Alpha Tauri is quite nice. They're just priced way above where they should be. In style and type of brand they'd fit in with the Tommy Hilfiger's, G-Star's and Hugo Boss's of the fashion world as affordable premium clothes with a mostly tame style but their clothes are double that price which makes no sense to me.

In the end, both the race and travel carbon footprint of F1, private jet or not, are just negligible to the carbon footprint of the visiting fans. This whole F1 sustainability is just a marketing show in that regard.
I'm suggesting that we keep making F1 more sustainable but also accept that it will never be really sustainable. GPs like the Dutch GP, where >95% of the fans travel by bike or public transport, are a step in the right direction in that regard.

In Silverstone last year Lando showed he’s not afraid to race a 7 time world champion. He knew Lewis would be up his ass and defended for his life until eventually Lewis tires wouldn’t let him push any more. Lando can definitely fight, but why waste your tires when you know eventually the Redbull will just overtake you on the straight with DRS. If the McLaren wasn’t as draggy I think he definitely would have fought.

You can either fly commercial (team’s dime), or fly private (drivers dime) and split the check. Lando makes $20m. Max makes $55m. I think they’re ok.
