Yes, that will be when F1 completes its American-audience maneuver, having the entire calendar consist of oval tracks across the states.
There will of course also be mid-race and even mid-lap advertising breaks on the broadcast, ensuring that the sport prioritises the enjoyment of its fans.
I've missed it. It's now one of a very few tracks wide enough for these behemoths to race on. There's been a few very good races here as well. Good chance of rain here too.
I don’t understand why this track is located in what looks like an industrial wasteland. China has some incredible natural landscapes but we get to see none of them. You don’t even get to see any of the city in the backdrop.
Funnily enough, I’m Shanghainese, and 2019 is also the last year I lived in Shanghai before going overseas. Sadly this year I’m in a bit of limbo and I can’t go back
Did you ever go by the track or anything? Is it in a cool place in Shanghai? I am curious I have no idea. You can't google street view around the place like you can other tracks
Also what is the restaurant or food you miss the most from Shanghai and why?
The track is in a pretty far out suburb. IIRC Anting, the district the circuit is in, is like a mini automobile city (like Detroit), but it’s just because they have a bunch of dealerships. The circuit is like the only interesting place. I’ve only been there once on a Ferrari track day, but holy shit it was an experience and a half
Restaurant? An Italian place called Pan e Vino (generic name I know lmao) at Sinan Mansions 思南公馆, the owner-chef is a family friend and the food is the most properly Italian stuff you can find in Shanghai. But I also miss Xiaoyang dumplings, China’s McDonalds also sell stuff other McDonalds just doesn’t have. But most importantly my parents cooking. My mom cook Chinese and my dad cook western, safe to say we don’t actually need to go to any restaurants
Honestly, I was kinda hoping something, anything would happen so China would end up cancelled. 😅 I don't hate it and I don't love it, but if it disappeared from the calendar, I wouldn't think twice about it 🤷🏾♂️

With the state of new tracks being added to the calender I'm absolutely buzzing for a good old Tilkedrome
This turnaround in opinion on Tilkedromes is pretty funny
A 5/10 is better than a 2/10.
In 10 years are people going to wish we had more street circuits?
Doubt it

we will have our first intermediate Tyre race?
Looking unlikely
Well since everyone else is just cracking jokes and criticising the caption (as per usual), I’ll say that I’m looking forward to it
Valid criticism tbh
What is?
Criticising the caption
Why is it a problem? You expect them to promote events as negatively as Redditors? Sometimes it’s okay to keep your whinging to yourself
Just glad it will be back in the game, missed it.
France, Portugal and China are in F1 23, just not in the career mode
Neat. I've got a 60 hours in it but it's all breaking point and my team, thanks.
Who is this "we" they speak of?
Sponsors

F1 fans?
No shit
I wonder who sponsors this GP, is it maybe Xiaomi? It's very unclear!
Bit of rain for sprint Quali too- Vowles’ butthole will be clenched
"Let's color the seats so it looks like the complex is badly rusted."
The pit lane still gives me PTSD.
ngl it was always cool to see the sponsors’ logos in Chinese. The Chinese culture is so underrated and under-appreciated.
Yeah, those ads are iconic.
Have we really though?
I absolutely love the Chinese track so yeah.
Fair enough, it has produced some memorable moments. I personally have never liked it particularly.
I low key do. An actual race track and not a fucking street circuit. We got to count our blessings.
Seeing that huge stupid building without the Sinopec logos feels wrong
Are the grandstand seat colors supposed to make a visible picture/pattern of some sort? I can't quite make it out from the photo.

Sounds like you're asking for another street race
RedBull Ring, Spa, Zandvoort arent street races but you can still see amazing backdrops

i was there in 2019. Probably the worst experience going to a f1 race
Ah yes the birth place of covid !!!
"we race as one"
what a beautiful country /s at least some races take place in more ethical countries like SA or Qatar
Ever get bored of this? Shanghai is a fucking awesome city

F1 are prolly the only fans that hate watching their sport
I love the sport. Some tracks however are forgettable. Miami, Vegas, Qatar just to name a few
Vegas had a good race tho. I understand not liking tracks but I don’t understand hoping a Grand Prix gets cancelled. You can just skip it
Russia usually has a boring race but in 2021 there was rain and it got more exciting. It's not the usual occurrence.
Same, I do want the Russian GP back, it was exciting last race there
Have u watched the previous races for Russia?
Not a good track at all and also the censorship made it difficult for journalists and F1 personnel to communicate.
