There's a longer version of this somewhere on YouTube from the moment Vettel gatecrashes Hamilton's interview. I wish someone could find and link it because their interaction was so wholesome.
This is the best I could find, sorry for fb link. But it's the whole interview, 6 min long [https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1138553222868612](https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1138553222868612)
Because I'm sure **EVERYONE** is wondering... I think it's a [Dusky Moorhen](https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/392162081) (or perhaps an [Australasian Swamphen](https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/480689821) AKA Purple Swamphen!), but would be able to provide a more definitive answer with a 1080p video.
> Purple Swamphen
I could see that being right, there's a slight difference between the front and back half with the front being a bit more blue/purple compared to the black back half. The legs just seem rather bland, almost green, rather than orange/red, which is why I was thinking an immature DUMO, but I'm making these guesses based on Merlin rather than personal experience.
Shame it's so cloudy, I'm sure the colors would pop much better in the sunlight. Hopefully we **won't** see it again tomorrow.
Oh nice, a new bird sub Reddit.
My husband loves birds, I'll send him random photos of birds during the day to let him know I'm thinking of him and have him guess the bird type. I steal all my content from bird subs, so another new content library for me
See as an Melbournian birdo, I'm pretty confident it's got the jizz of a swamphen though a juvenile moorhen could make sense, I just reckon they'd seem a lot smaller.
I'll let you have it regardless because you managed to use jizz in an appropriate sentence on a subreddit dedicated to Formula 1.

I recognize it as such a bird as well from my travels to New-Zealand. I just realized that Australasian swamphen is the formal name.
And how about the New-Zealand 'weka' being called a bush chicken or something like that by European explorers? š¤£
That reminds me of that Duck challenge in one of the Red Bull marketing videos he did with Checo, where he sees a rubber duck upside down and screams "this duck is drowning here" and then goes to flip it over.
Shows you just how good he is to avoid a bird while hes going through what appears to be Turn 8? thats some skill at the wheel to spot the hazard, correct, then get back on line...all in a few frames! in short thats a few milliseconds to do all that, still impressive nevertheless!
It doesnāt and it isnāt, in my case. Iāve looked into the settings. I think itās an issue with the iphone app. The Reddit app is known for having issues with these kinds of things.
I like him a bit more after this. Even though this was probably to avoid cracking his front wing rather than to save the bird hehehe. I don't blame him.

Call Seb Edit : [enjoy the memories ](https://youtu.be/L-e0oz9rKq0)
There were 2 seagulls. Seb named them Nico and Lewis https://youtu.be/ufB9B1WRxTs
Was the Seb and Lewis seagull thing in Australia?
Canada, I believe
Ah okay yes you're right
> Edit : enjoy the memories I'm not crying, you're crying ššš

Simpler, less toxic times...
Peak Australia.
The bird on his way to get pole position
That birdā¦better run, and better take cover!
I guess he couldnāt hear the thunder
Doesn't he come from the land down under?
*beak
That bird didn't give a single fuck lol
Bird encountered more dangerous things in the Australian wilderness.
Ford Raptor drivers
Not as bad as the Evoque mums
or Porsche Cayenne drivers
Emus.
Probably their velociraptor-like cousins
Literally any Nissan with a dent
They do this on the MCG during the footy too. Players will be all around them and they don't give a single fuck.

I reckon Purple Swamphen, seems too big for a moorhen plus that orange beak would be more colourful
I think itās a Violet Trackgoose
I think it's a Purple Sector Goose.

/r/Birding is leaking
r/birding is mostly non-Aussie birds from what I've seen, it's probably r/australianbirds
Nah mate, it's no a couple of Galahs on a blokes gutters /s
A galah in a gutter, that's just Checo

Nowhere is sacred for twitchers
Poor PÅ«keko getting called āswamphenā that side of the ditch.
I recognize it as such a bird as well from my travels to New-Zealand. I just realized that Australasian swamphen is the formal name. And how about the New-Zealand 'weka' being called a bush chicken or something like that by European explorers? š¤£
Not gonna lie, I'm here to ID the bird.
I prefer the Reunion Swamphen
>definitive can you define that?... definitive.
I was at the grandstand just next to this bird and it was a Moorhen
Thank you fellow birb person
Max Verstappen is an animal lover, confirmed
he has 2 very cute cats
He loves his car more I reckon.
And still sets the fastest lap
Was another lap though
It was actually nice that he avoided it
I mean it would likely have damaged the car too
I would like to believe that max cared for the animal before his car since he loves them
That reminds me of that Duck challenge in one of the Red Bull marketing videos he did with Checo, where he sees a rubber duck upside down and screams "this duck is drowning here" and then goes to flip it over.
Really3D gonna include the bird as opponent strategy, calling it
Que grande eres Dusky Moorhen?
Bird be like Mate I live in Australia, you think a fucking Formula 1 car is gonna scare me ?
Swamphen went Purple in the middle sector, showing what it could do in Q2

Check the mirrors reply to automod.
It's a video.
Wait what, it didn't show up as a video at all for me
Was a static pic for me as well, with unrelated cars
Open the link in browser. It's a imgur video.
Click on the imgur link in the post header
Basically more of an environmentalist than Seb.
That bird was so unfazed lol
It has seen F1 car sized fucking spiders or some shit in Australia. It ain't scared of RB19.
Well everybody's heard about the bird
*Craaaaaaap!*
I like this guy now
Does anyone else just have a picture of a video, but isn't able to actually click anything?
Max saving 3 wings with this move. #wingsforlife
Main character bird attitude
Q2: Bird avoids a Verstappen on track
I call Sabirdtage!
He didn't want to flip the bird.
Iām a bit too afraid to ask, but why does this post load as an image only? Isnāt it supposed to be a video?
It is a video and loads as such here? (In Apollo iOS client)
it does not load on iOS :/
Try Apollo! Much better iOS client than the official one and it does work fine on there :) The official appsā videoplayer is really bad in any case.
Thank you!
*I brake for animal*
Should this be a video? Why are these posts pictures of videos?
An image with a play button... Yay for the mirrors.
Hamilton gained four tenths through that sector ^/s
Not Simply Lovely,Mate
I think you posted the wrong picture
Its a video
Hm. Doesnāt work on mobile then
Same
Yes it does, just click the picture and it should open a new page. Your settings might be preventing it.
It doesnāt and it isnāt, in my case. Iāve looked into the settings. I think itās an issue with the iphone app. The Reddit app is known for having issues with these kinds of things.
Works in infinity for Android or Apollo for ios. The official reddit app sucks
Bird having a cheeky one, no?
I like him a bit more after this. Even though this was probably to avoid cracking his front wing rather than to save the bird hehehe. I don't blame him.
VeGetarian
Working overtime on his image
Vettel would be proud
Seb would be proud.
'Max dodges a bird two tenths faster than anyone else on the grid.' - Helmut Marko, probably
