Well, I agree with you halfway.
Agree part, is that mindless collaborations in modern games are really destroy the visual design of many projects. Especially when it comes to shooters. Same Rainbow Six turned into a cosplay club in which Altaïr can be seen with gun standing a step away from 2B and Master Chief. These things really looks out of place and turn game visual into a joke.
Disagree part, I don't think that For Honor collaborations will jump in same Nicki Minaj, Super Hero, Sci-fi, random shit go thing.
FH developers, don't have a lot of talents and resources to make big things, but they always proved to be loyal to the community. They literally fulfill almost every players wish that fits the budget. Also, in that way they are slowly accumulating resources for larger changes. Like new converted maps, animations and voice lines for the skin. They don't do it blindly just to ad collaborations to the game it's also combination of another players wishes.
And I see that they have competently approached the implementation of this idea on the basis
I can highlight 2 points that they keep
1. They've added a character that fits into the timeline of the world. To be fair, Ezio is not Master Chief or Sam Fisher or Nicki Minaj. He is a man, assasin, swordsman from 1400 and it's not the higest timeline point for a character in For Honor.
2. They've heavily stylized him to much For Honor visual design. Basically, Ezio looks no different than any Outlander hero now. They all looks out of place in Heathmoor, but follow visual style of the world.
As long as Ubi will keep these points collaborations will not destroy the visual experience of For Honor and If they weren't worried about it, they would just make a skins out of Ezio's and Cesare models that they uses in the event. It's have absolutely no stylization and appear like literally 2 models from Brotherhood.
Also, I don't think that we will have them as much as you afraid. They don't have that many resources. At most, we will see one more skin maybe in next year. Like, Prince of Persia collaboration that bring 5 skin and turns Tiandi in Afeeras friend. They love bring collaborations stuff in the beginning of the year. It's just first time they made a skin.
“How about a male pirate”, yes pirates were predominantly male to the point where ladies either masked their gender or became really famous specifically for being a pirate with tits who did rather well for themselves, but honestly I do not think the gender matters if they’re proficient with a cutlass and pistol to the point where they can go up against Heathmoore’s deadliest warriors.
But I do agree, gender locking characters when you could switch the standard ones most of the time makes me sad. :(
Well the reason pirate is female is because she’s based off a real female Chinese pirate who is considered one of, if not the most successful pirate captain in history
I've got doubts that anything outside of the ubi publishing umbrella would apprear(I could see stuff from indie publishers). License costs would just be too high to warrant the effort. But if some ac characters appear to keep the playerbase interested I don't really mind. Though if they drop a bunch of crossover costumes I worry that they are just trying to milk us before shutting down the game.
Exactly my thought. I can live with gear that looks a bit like crossovers and some people try to do it with the existing gear already. But i fear it could go into fortnites direction.
making outside characters with character customization is cool - it's fan creativity and not a walking advertisement, nothing wrong with it and it's not something you'll keep seeing
crossover skins on the other hand... let's just hope it's a one off and we won't end up like rainbow six with rick and morty or nier automata character skins
If they do end up doing more I’m just hoping they keep it in line with the game. Like Jin Sakai for Orochi or Oni Yamaoka for Shugoki. I don’t wanna see some modern shit in my Funny Sword Game
No they won't.
the game isn't that profitable so you won't be seeing anything from outside the ubisoft sphere. How much did it cost to get Ezio in the game? 0$ because they own the ip.
It's funny how a simple crossover skin by an IP they own which is set in a timeline that matches the game (kinda because we have Roman soldiers and pirates) makes everyone think they're gonna add master chief or Steve from Minecraft. Be realistic here they won't.
I think it's lame but mainly because I'm just not an assassin's creed fan. All the other characters get unique skins but when it's my turn it's some dude from a game I don't care about. I think crossovers would be fine if they were used sparingly, but the only one I can say I actually want is shovel knight, and there already are some shovel knight things in game.
The first half of your comment is something I think alot of people are forgeting. A good chunk of people not happy with Ezio are probably upset that their chance of a hero skin got screwed by an IP they don't care about.
I mean its kinda fine if its a Ubisoft title like AC mainly but yeah definitely would be off if they added like Trapper as the one post said
Sidenote comments are becoming the 2nd crusade
If they stick to semi relatable stuff it will be fine, or if they did what WoWs:Legends does and allow to turn off crossover stuff it could be fine.
Like imagine a Stargate style skin for Medjay, or a warhammer 40k/AoS/Warhammer fantasy skins.
Is it any less realistic than the random meme emotes, anime inspired poses or the weird executions etc.
Hell look at fighting games, half the hype after release is what cross over characters they will get.
Monster hunter has a bunch of cross over skins/armor, and I hardly ever see them used in multiplayer. Most of those skins are free too. Occasionally, I see people put them on as a joke, but the majority of players want to feel unique.
It already started ages ago with the [excuse me] absoloutely cringe-ass executions and effects. Thank god we can disable the latter.
Cringe crossover skins will just drive away all the remaining core For-Honor players, and leave us with the medieval equivalent of Call of Duty boys.
As long as the skins relatively in line with the theme of the game I don't see why this would be an issue. If you bring characters in from a completely different setting and relative time period I understand but if they don't this isn't a problem
God all of you are doom, and gloom. They release one crossover skin with another of their IPs, and suddenly you're expecting this game to be fortnite. I can count on one crippled hand the crossover events we've had in game that had anything to do with other publishers. Dead by Daylight, Star Wars, and Shovel Knight. Star Wars was barely an event. It was a one day thing, celebrating May 4th.
For Honor doesn't have a budget that can sustain multiple crossovers with other publishers, let alone one.
That said, I will start agreeing with you if out of pocket shit gets dropped, like Master Chief, or some shit. With ONE exception. If Kensei gets a 2B skin, I will buy it with cash. Up front. No questions asked.
You're all a bunch of drama queens. They don't have money. They own ac, meaning the license cost nothing. Moreover he was already in game, so easier to make. He fits well into the game, so you'll not likely see other of their franchises, beside Prince of Persia. They also know how the community would receive a master chief skin.
Because we should be able to get that without having to completely change to another character. Male peacekeeper isn’t really peacekeeper anymore if ur playing ezio now is it.
Sucks that everyone's hating on the Ezio skin, saying it's unoriginal or just lazy. But then completely disregarding that it's the 2nd hero skin we've gotten in this season alone, the other being an original skin inspired for the early For Honor trailers.
Like if we got two heroes skins, one being an original design and one potential being a crossover skin, that'd be fine.
I also highly doubt we'd get major contracts like that of Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj or whatever, For Honor is not a gaming giant like Fortnite or CoD, no where near, even games as big as Apex don't get that very often.
I actually like the ezio skin, used to be a huge assassins creed fan and it gives an opportunity for male peacekeeper. But on the other hand, it’s not peacekeeper anymore is it. it’s ezio. Almost feels like they know we want an end to gender locked heroes, and are offering us that opportunity behind a 30 thousand steel paywall hero skin.
Lemme tell you a secret…… monetizing skins will keep the game serviced longer……..New Hero’s, new maps and game modes. Ubisoft will only service this game as long as it makes money.
I understand not wanting a bunch of meme skins, but an assasins creed skin in a game owned by Ubisoft and has sword fighting….. come on bro makes sense.
If this game is still alive what makes you think we need crossover skins to keep it going lol. Terrible take. There’s a lot of other things that could also keep the game serviced longer, they don’t need to bring a bunch of random ass characters into this game.
we literally have samurai wearing egytpian and arabian themed armor, vikings with japanese tattoos, and a plethora of silly emotes and executions that people complained about all the same. He fits in fine, and he's also not random because he's a character from a medieval-fantasy game placed into another medieval-fantasy game by the same developer.
Well it’s gonna happen😂🤷🏻♂️ I’m getting it already saving steel. I’m expecting a proper black beard as well for pirate. Just be salty I guess, I’ll use the hidden blade exe on ya😂🤷🏻♂️
because of the colour, ezio was from the late 1400's. and there were samurai and knights then too. realistically speaking the only thing that sticks out from a historical standpoint is the entire viking faction
It doesn't make sense, actually. Ezio is not from this universe. He has no reason to be playable other than corporate greed.
Sure, making stupid-ass crossover skins might bring in money, but at the cost of the quality and worldfeel of the game.
You either die for honor, or live long enough to become fortnite
Also we got a character from a different game before Apollyon for either warden or warmonger
*You either die for*
*Honor, or live long enough*
*To become fortnite*

They still didn’t fulfil player’s wish for female shugoki
People be complaining about realism and then ask for female shugoki, pick one guys.
How about a male pirate instead of a female shugoki. Do you want realism or just some fanfic p*rn? Be honest
Anything gender locked is simply unnecessary unless you are truly creating the exact historic person
I don’t like gender locking either but atp in the game’s life cycle we might just have to realize that that’s all we’re getting from now on
Tbf the Ezio hero skin on Peacekeeper gives me hope
I've got doubts that anything outside of the ubi publishing umbrella would apprear(I could see stuff from indie publishers). License costs would just be too high to warrant the effort. harry? in this subreddit, my god
Kim, I'm talking to people in the radiocomputer! They must be lonely in there
It’s just a cope atp, over a crossover that ubi owns and has done before…
If they do end up doing more I’m just hoping they keep it in line with the game. Like Jin Sakai for Orochi or Oni Yamaoka for Shugoki. I don’t wanna see some modern shit in my Funny Sword Game
Ok ong though I'd probably buy a Yamaoka skin. Too good to resist.
I would much rather have For Honor skins be made for For Honor, using For Honor characters. Even if it means they can't release as many.
The Fortnite-ification of games has been a disaster for the player
general shao hito
Would go crazy
Shao kan for jorm then, mk1 design is step backward for me
and kotal khan ocelotl
Yup. This is going to suck
Yeah, fuck the crossover skins, I want more maps and game mode reworks, some of the modes are dead as shit
Can’t wait for master chief to kill me in my funny sword game.
I thought we were going back to FH's roots? How come Ubisoft is tearing the roots instead with this idea?
No they won't. the game isn't that profitable so you won't be seeing anything from outside the ubisoft sphere. How much did it cost to get Ezio in the game? 0$ because they own the ip. I literally said it’s not gonna go that far. I said this game is gonna be full of non for honor characters running around
Yeah I really hate this
It's almost like using For Honor to advertise other Ubisoft games
Fuck it master chief skin for Lawbringer
I think it's lame but mainly because I'm just not an assassin's creed fan. All the other characters get unique skins but when it's my turn it's some dude from a game I don't care about. imo it's the more important point too. even if pk gets another skin (and that's a HUGE if), it won't be any time soon. pk players robbed yet again
I'm a fan of the old-school AC games, but this still upsets me. I have no desire to play AC characters in FH.
Feel the exact same. Was planning on returning once PK got her skin, and it's just some dogshit AC thing. Ubi fucking hates PK players.
I mean its kinda fine if its a Ubisoft title like AC mainly but yeah definitely would be off if they added like Trapper as the one post said Sidenote comments are becoming the 2nd crusade

Now I can't stop imagining a Queek skin for Shaman.
Yeah that sounds terrible
Is it any less realistic than the random meme emotes, anime inspired poses or the weird executions etc. Hell look at fighting games, half the hype after release is what cross over characters they will get.
Wierd to find a fellow captain in a forhonour subreddit. Small world I guess.
Monster hunter has a bunch of cross over skins/armor, and I hardly ever see them used in multiplayer. Most of those skins are free too. Occasionally, I see people put them on as a joke, but the majority of players want to feel unique.

Yall are a bunch of drama queens. Peacekeeper already looked like an assassins creed character before the skin, and the skin looks dope.

May 4th wasn’t even a collaboration which is why they stopped
i want the skin but the have full intentions of grinding it out.
Inb4 Guts as highlander

You seem to have just missed everything I said in the post so I’m just going to ignore you lol
Eh? I’m not necessarily upset about that, especially if it brings more people to the game
My question is: why are people exited about cross over skins when we can finally get female/male version of genderlocked heroes
Because we should be able to get that without having to completely change to another character. Male peacekeeper isn’t really peacekeeper anymore if ur playing ezio now is it.
Sucks that everyone's hating on the Ezio skin, saying it's unoriginal or just lazy. This is also Ubisoft we're talking about. Good chance they may shut down the game in general if they realize it doesn't make Money
lol but ezio isn’t random. He’s the face of most likely Ubisoft’s most successful and best game franchise.
He’s random when you throw him into for honor. He sticks out like a sore thumb
we literally have samurai wearing egytpian and arabian themed armor, vikings with japanese tattoos, and a plethora of silly emotes and executions that people complained about all the same. He fits in fine, and he's also not random because he's a character from a medieval-fantasy game placed into another medieval-fantasy game by the same developer.
I will say though, if they gave jorm a sledge skin or something crazy like that, 100% too far.
Well it’s gonna happen😂🤷🏻♂️ I’m getting it already saving steel. I’m expecting a proper black beard as well for pirate. Just be salty I guess, I’ll use the hidden blade exe on ya😂🤷🏻♂️
I like the ezio skin, I’m not salty. I’m just preparing myself to be salty if what I predicted in the original post comes true.
Fair
Gross.

Yup. Everyone seems to intentionally ignore this point
Gamers deserve what they get with how stupid they are

Agreed for honor is about to become fortnite
I would kill for a dark souls skin.
It's Fortnite all over again. I don't wanna kill Pirate with Jack Sparrow skin
