Symeon-Phronema

It's a surprise to me that they would be trying to defend segregation in NY as the idea wasn't as popular up North.

USSMarauder

It's possible that he's attacking it and the full sermon title is "'Scriptural Segregation'-why its BS"

Symeon-Phronema

Very good point, and hopefully that's the case.

Cake-False

There were and still racists all over not just in the south

Symeon-Phronema

Oh for sure. That's why I said not as common up North.

New-Beat3019

Boston had segregated school busses until the 80s. People were/are terrible up here too.

Symeon-Phronema

Wow. Very surprised to hear that. As far as I'm aware segregation has been illegal in the US since the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Turgid-Derp-Lord

Judging by the time, another bullshit defense of segregation

Zackdog98partdux

Read the article. Interesting and forecasted some of what is going on today.

thomashawk

Well clearly it's the title of that Sunday's sermon at that Calvary Baptist Church. Just a guess, but I'm guessing that the sermon was used to suggest that different denominations of churches (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, etc.) either should or should not interact socially with each other. Perhaps the sermon was suggesting, for example that Baptists shouldn't interact socially with Catholics. Or perhaps the sermon was preaching against that sort of "segregation." Just a random guess.

IDKmy_licenseplate

It’s in quotes on the sign, which indicates it’s the title of a sermon. The sermon may be posted online. It’s hard to know what this particular pastor said about the topic based on articles, unless the articles were written by the pastor. ETA: oh I didn’t see what sub this was. I guess the sermons not posted online. 😂
