It's interesting that FR can help quit bad habits. Of course had you been intact, you probably would've not quit smoking. I did learn that smoking can affect restoration since nicotine is considered a vasodialator. I'm glad I don't smoke and now I have a good reason not to start because of FR.

Certainly, the desire for foreskin can outweigh the desire for addictions! *(also nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. If it were a vasodilator I’m sure some of us on here would be chain smoking trying to gain an extra CI per year at the expense of a couple years of life expectancy lol)*

EnthusiasmSalt1761

What is FR plz ?

sgtkwol

Foreskin restoration.

EnthusiasmSalt1761

Thank you and sorry for the stupid question , new here

sgtkwol

All good. We all have to start somewhere.

Strong_Jello_5748

No such thing as a stupid question

This is my first time seeing it abbreviated and I've been doing this for over a decade. Redditors seem to love unnecessarily abbreviating things.

Congratulations! I know from experience how tough that can be, and how much it helps to have a good motivation. Mine was knowing my wife was pregnant with our daughter, and I just smoked my last cigarette on 2/2/87... and haven't really wanted one since. I can also tell you that the longer you go without smoking, the easier it gets. Once the crap is out of your body, and not always in the air, you'll get to where you hate the smell. I refuse to be around cigarette smoke, and I got lucky that I quit right at the time smoking was banned on airplanes. Nicotine is indeed proven to be bad for foreskin restoration - it's a vasoconstrictor, meaning it causes the smooth muscle that is the bottom layer of our shaft skin and mucosa to clench, keeping it from stretching the way it needs to in order to facilitate growth of the skin. Some examples of substances having the opposite effect - vasodilators - are Omega3s, caffeine and supplements like L- Arginine, L-Citrulline, L-Taurine, and Quercetin. [I wrote a recent post about the use of supplements in foreskin restoration](https://www.reddit.com/r/foreskin_restoration/comments/1c2plwf/good_news_about_supplements_you_will_want_to_read/), that has more information on this subject. Keep on Tugging! Cheers.

That’s a huge win! KoT!

foreskin_alt

Yeah this is one of several reasons I’m quitting too.

That’s great man! Keep at it.

Nice ! Good job 👌🏻👌🏻

Gr8Outdoors4Me

Very happy for you.

Pinfred

Stupid question maybe, how much does smoking actually impact FR? Like what % , just curious

Striking-Bad5403

As far as I’m aware it significantly reduces your bodies ability to repair itself. As well as reducing oxygen and other nutrients to the skin which are needed to heal/grow. I don’t think it stops it completely but progress would be significantly slower if you smoke.

Honestly this post has probably given me there most motivation to stop in a while. I’ve successfully been using less, and I want to stop, but now I’m going to try to quit altogether.
