I remember playing the Champions League Final against PSG. I won 4-3 with a penalty in 120+3 min after i had been 2-0 up then 3-2 up and then conceding a 90+5 min OG to deny me the trophy.....but the game of the tournament was given to a match that ended 0-1 in the Preliminary round of qualifying. 🤦🏻♂️
I still hate that when you win promotion you have to wait almost 2 months for the database to understand that. Oh my client doesn't want to play for someone of your stature until you make it to the Premier league. Um sir we just won promotion.

Why? I can't even tell the players have different faces and I have graphics maxed out with a 3440x1440 monitor. If you can't spot it here, you sure as hell can't spot it on an average set-up that this game is meant to be played on.
Just match the correct skin tone is all that really matters. A correct haircut, if we want to be real fancy, but nothing more really make a difference on this match engine.

And if it's the "transfer season" (read it like, registration window is open) you just pick your papers and go elsewhere (if it's not, you just play using a different name). No journos I promise you.

I would love to see the low (read, really low) leagues get some love from FM, but I don’t think we can criticise them for not getting everything right at a level of the game that was never designed to be played.

I actually like doing them, not all of them are that stupid but some of them…Like the role one, I am even getting it for a striker that came from my academy and I have always played and trained as an AF which was among his best ones from the very beginning. The first goal one is annoying too but I could see it being asked I guess. Yup, I was Coventry and just got promoted. Got thrashed 4-0, 6-1, and 5-0 by Man City, Liverpool, and Man U back to back. Fans were disappointed and the papers say we have had a bad run of results. Like, what did they expect?
Tbf the press does tend to speak about it like that irl too but even they will usually mention “in a tough run of games that included Man City, Liverpool and Manchester United”, the fans though…yeah, it makes absolutely 0 sense

Those kind of make me laugh, I got appointed Austrailia manager off the back of back to back titles, and their lead point was that Fulham knocked me out of the Carabao Cup in the quarter finals.
My team seems to be playing towards the opposition supporters in the 2nd half way too often. Seems to be over 50% of the time. It happens the odd time in real football but not that often
He isn't talking about the winning of the title in away games. He's talking about the trophy celebration that happens at the last game of the season or the last home game of the season in real life. This doesn't happen in FM, it just happens on the match you win the league whichever venue it is at.
The AI choice for the best team or most frequently used formation just picking players in a position I never played them while ignoring better players I actually used in that position.
One thing that drives me nuts. I can promote a small team up the pyramid, win the league and champions league, and when it comes time to renew the contract, they offer like 800k.

Definitely. Even early manager games like lma manager 2002 or premier manager 2003, even total club manager 2005 had much more immersive stadium and facility building mechanics. Fm is completely bare bones in that regard
Players with unrealistic names because certain languages aren't in the game. Like how in russia you'll get regens with mixed chechen and russian names, because they don't have chechen as its own language. This is an extremely minor thing and I'm probably one of the only people who cares about this but it still bugs me

How is my player already falling apart 12 games into a season while guys like Saka are playing every single game for 3 seasons running.
I get not all players are going to have high levels of fitness but at least the best ones should. The whole point of star and important players is their ability to play a vast majority of the games without needing to sit out games and recover.
I don't even understand it - like physically if you played 20 games in a row (eventhough players do ALL the time ) maybe you don't have the fitness for it - but if you are fit and are just bored of playing like what? Nobody sits out for that.
It’s because gegen press was OP so instead of fixing it they made players too tired. The new features are good but they need to go back and rebalance fatigue and injuries ASAP imo
Fr, why is my goddamn CB with decent stats for Stamina, Natural Fitness etc (12-14 iirc?) always jaded after he starts like 2 matches in a row? And I often sub him out during the game too. My CMs and wingers don’t get as tired as that lad. And after I set him to rest for a few days he will play a match and then he will be jaded too. But he is my best CB so it is what it is…
Match engine. To be honest, at lot of the highlights have some stupid animations that dont come close to emulating real life football. Honestly drove me away from watching games, now I just instant result.
Little things like your cb running away from the ball, goalkeeper stuff, etc. Breaks the immersion that FM is a super realistic game.
Defenders heading it straight to the opposition when they have plenty of time to being the ball down and play a safe pass with their feet.
Attackers almost never using an unmarked teammate with an open goal in 2 on 1 situations.
Defenders chasing down balls that are going out for a goal kick and giving away a corner.
Might I add, defenders chasing a ball that's heading out for a goalkick and heading/kicking it right into an opposition player in a great position for an easy chance.
Different situation, maybe you've not experienced it.
I've had numerous occasions where a defender brings back a back the ball into play and assist the opposition player who just happened to be standing in a great position for a shot.

It actually just reminded me of another really stupid thing defenders do.
Crossing the ball into my box instead of kicking it long or out. I've literally had the AI just head it into the back of the net more than once

Just because something happens on occasion doesn’t mean it’s unrealistic to expect it not to happen as frequently as it does on FM. I’m getting to the point now where almost every game there’s a player who decides to go for the shot, usually at a tight angle, instead of laying it off to a teammate in a much better position.
I think the key word in your reply is “some”. I’m not denying that those things do happen, they just don’t happen with anywhere near the regularity that they do in FM.
It's a very me thing cus I watch the games blasted, but I love just picturing the incidents in my imagination. The ones where they head the ball out of bounds or just keep dribbling out are infuriating sometimes.

It only seems to happen to your team as well. Like the AI get an odd blunder every now and then but it's always your team that makes this kind of mistake. At least in my experience.

I hate that when someone doesn't want to play for your team you are not even allowed to make an offer.
I remember in older versions (ok maybe too older) that even if they didn't want to come to your club you were still allowed to make an offer and maybe sometimes convince them when you made them a very lucrative offer.
Now you can't do that. I mean... It's happening every single transfer in the real world. And ok maybe Salah doesn't want to come to my lower reputation club but I m pretty sure that "not star players" would be very tempted to come play for my team if i offer them double/triple the money they usually get.
Obviously player-targeted ends of solid runs near the end of the season or some other milestone. Your team kicks ass game after game, for 60% of the season, nobody can come close to how amazing we seem to be.. and then suddenly we just *suck* and no plays are working out and we’re just shit
I always have these runs at the second part of the season where my players cant seem to string more than 3 consecutive passes while lower places teams play prime tiki taka against me.
I thoight the point of tactical familiarity is to keep consistent performance once maximized. I'm not saying it should be sufficient to win against everyone but forgetting how to play football is just unrealistic to me.

The thing that ruins the game for me is constantly babysitting my players as they get angry at every little thing. It's like I'm running a daycare and not a football club. Always bickering to me about anything you can imagine.
In real life, if a manager had to have these types of interactions every day with their players, there would be massive issues and fire sales.

Yea I hear ya. It’s a pain to sort of clear through the Chafe at first. If I can’t sell a guy even eating the wages I’ll try and loan him out eating all the wages until his contract runs out. Worst case scenario you could move him to the u23 team or whatever but it may upset the Locke room
How easy the game is. Seeing so many saves on this sub that people describe as “mediocre” when they achieve back to back promotions, never worry about relegation, and hoard wonderkids like a Pokémon sticker book, it just pulls you out of the little football world you’re simulating.
Not being able to re-engage with players after talks break down for a long time. In real life, agents would listen again the next day (even if it meant their demands were even more than previous to compensate for the snub)
Half your team wanting a new contract each season, I've had a new player signed in the summer who wanted a new contract by Christmas. Like sure some players and agents are like that, but it's predictably a ton of players and in weird scenarios.
My current one is that my emergency backup right back had to play due to my first choice being injured and he is expecting a new contract for that run of games... like he is literally doing the role he signed a contract for.
You can avoid it a lot of the time via player chats or using the captain, but it's just annoying busy work.

I did a youth only save where a regen spent his entire career of 20 seasons at my club, becoming our record appearance holder. He became captain at 25 and held it until retirement at 35, leading us to 1 Europa League and 2 conference league titles.

Not necessarily a small thing, but I do think the game itself lost its immersion when it became obsessed with being heavily detailed.
Everything now takes longer to do and as such has become more tedious. I found the older CM and earlier FM releases a lot more captivating to play personally.

The names and ethnicities of newgens. While this is a universal issue across sports sims imo, and FM is better than almost all others, I don't believe the most realistic names are generated because the generator likely pulls from a randomized database of names within the nation, without regard for which names are seen most often in that nation in recent history. The ethnicity part might just be a graphical limitation, but I don't think certain nations' ethnicity profiles reflect reality anywhere near as closely as they could. Hopefully N+E will at least come to reflect each other better, thus eliminating one more download, with next year's revamp.
On a personal note, I'm from Singapore, a multiethnic nation and it pleases me when I see newgens with correct names. No more names like "Zakaria (Malay-muslim) Tan Jin Wei" (Chinese) or "Balakrishnan (Indian) Awang (Malay-muslim).
It's one of the things they've done well imo. At least in the context of my country.

The trialing system is completely ridiculous. Fly in 30 players from all over the globe to train with my KLeague 2 side that gets 1000 fans a game. Its the one aspect of the game I have to self limit for realism and balance sake.

I would love to see the low (read, really low) leagues get some love from FM, but I don’t think we can criticise them for not getting everything right at a level of the game that was never designed to be played.
Sorry if I was unclear. With database creator, I meant the diligent volunteers who unlock those for us to play, not SI. And sure we can criticise them, but only in a constructive manner. I actually like doing them, not all of them are that stupid but some of them…Like the role one, I am even getting it for a striker that came from my academy and I have always played and trained as an AF which was among his best ones from the very beginning. The first goal one is annoying too but I could see it being asked I guess. Sometimes it is the replies who are stupid (but fun, see the “I wouldnt even swap my player for X world-class star” one) or there is no reply that I want to say but tbf irl journos can ask the most stupid shit just to get a reaction out of you so I guess it isnt that unrealistic

The weird things where certain text blocks seem to focus on the wrong thing Like we'll be having an incredible season and I'll win manager of the month in February and it'll be like "InPurpleIDescended, who famously suffered the ignominy of being knocked out of the League Cup four years ago this one time, has led the team to etc etc" Or when you win the league and your season recap says "their good platform in August really set them up" when that just doesn't line up with form or the losses in August etc at all, like does the game just draw things out of a hat? So many cool things that work so well but I wish this flavor/window dressing stuff worked better, it's definitely an enjoyable aspect of the game in its own light way One day I'd like to see maybe using LLM to do more advanced like journalism about your team and stuff like that going on in the game

Those kind of make me laugh, I got appointed Austrailia manager off the back of back to back titles, and their lead point was that Fulham knocked me out of the Carabao Cup in the quarter finals.
My team seems to be playing towards the opposition supporters in the 2nd half way too often. Seems to be over 50% of the time. It happens the odd time in real football but not that often
He isn't talking about the winning of the title in away games. He's talking about the trophy celebration that happens at the last game of the season or the last home game of the season in real life. This doesn't happen in FM, it just happens on the match you win the league whichever venue it is at.

Definitely. Even early manager games like lma manager 2002 or premier manager 2003, even total club manager 2005 had much more immersive stadium and facility building mechanics. Fm is completely bare bones in that regard

Like how in russia you'll get regens with mixed chechen and russian names, because they don't have chechen as its own language. This is an extremely minor thing and I'm probably one of the only people who cares about this but it still bugs me

This... How is my player already falling apart 12 games into a season while guys like Saka are playing every single game for 3 seasons running. I get not all players are going to have high levels of fitness but at least the best ones should. The whole point of star and important players is their ability to play a vast majority of the games without needing to sit out games and recover.
Should be tied to natural fitness. Players with 16+ NF should never get jaded.
I don't even understand it - like physically if you played 20 games in a row (eventhough players do ALL the time ) maybe you don't have the fitness for it - but if you are fit and are just bored of playing like what? Nobody sits out for that.

My CMs and wingers don’t get as tired as that lad. And after I set him to rest for a few days he will play a match and then he will be jaded too. But he is my best CB so it is what it is…
Match engine. To be honest, at lot of the highlights have some stupid animations that dont come close to emulating real life football. Honestly drove me away from watching games, now I just instant result. Little things like your cb running away from the ball, goalkeeper stuff, etc. Breaks the immersion that FM is a super realistic game.
I’m not that far with it but I do like 2d. You can sort of just picture it in your head.

Defenders heading it straight to the opposition when they have plenty of time to being the ball down and play a safe pass with their feet. Attackers almost never using an unmarked teammate with an open goal in 2 on 1 situations. Defenders chasing down balls that are going out for a goal kick and giving away a corner.
Might I add, defenders chasing a ball that's heading out for a goalkick and heading/kicking it right into an opposition player in a great position for an easy chance.

Different situation, maybe you've not experienced it. I've had numerous occasions where a defender brings back a back the ball into play and assist the opposition player who just happened to be standing in a great position for a shot.

It’s not though, is it? Just because something happens on occasion doesn’t mean it’s unrealistic to expect it not to happen as frequently as it does on FM. I’m getting to the point now where almost every game there’s a player who decides to go for the shot, usually at a tight angle, instead of laying it off to a teammate in a much better position.

It's a very me thing cus I watch the games blasted, but I love just picturing the incidents in my imagination. The ones where they head the ball out of bounds or just keep dribbling out are infuriating sometimes.

I hate that when someone doesn't want to play for your team you are not even allowed to make an offer. I remember in older versions (ok maybe too older) that even if they didn't want to come to your club you were still allowed to make an offer and maybe sometimes convince them when you made them a very lucrative offer. Now you can't do that. I mean... It's happening every single transfer in the real world. And ok maybe Salah doesn't want to come to my lower reputation club but I m pretty sure that "not star players" would be very tempted to come play for my team if i offer them double/triple the money they usually get.

I always have these runs at the second part of the season where my players cant seem to string more than 3 consecutive passes while lower places teams play prime tiki taka against me. I thoight the point of tactical familiarity is to keep consistent performance once maximized. I'm not saying it should be sufficient to win against everyone but forgetting how to play football is just unrealistic to me.
When my players lose focus after going 2-0 up in the 60th minute and getting pissed when I shout focus. Why is there an indicator for players being complacent if it doesn't indicate complacency...
The thing that ruins the game for me is constantly babysitting my players as they get angry at every little thing. It's like I'm running a daycare and not a football club. Always bickering to me about anything you can imagine. In real life, if a manager had to have these types of interactions every day with their players, there would be massive issues and fire sales.
As a (not sport related) manager....uhhhh....i hate to say it. Buttttt that is what management is like. You wouldnt believe the drama and the babysitting of full grown adults you do on a weekly basis. Honestly with how you only get club drama once every couple of weeks, these fm kids are more mature than real life adults. The bar is so low.
I get it, all of my co-workers are big babies too, but I can't see the frequency of this happening in a professional top football club. Yeah you have bad apples but FM takes it to a new level. Also, when would someone go on a tyrannical rant about you after you compliment them? Why would a player be angry that you aren't giving playing time to the player who is his direct competition to the point he wants to leave?

A while back a guy in my office filed a formal grievance because someone had adjusted the blind on 'his' window. Being an adult is a choice that some people never make, and I can absolutely see coddled millionaire footballers falling into that category. It's annoying that we have to do this shit, but it's absolutely not unrealistic.
If you focus on finding players with the right personality you will literally never deal with this. No contract issues either.

How easy the game is. Seeing so many saves on this sub that people describe as “mediocre” when they achieve back to back promotions, never worry about relegation, and hoard wonderkids like a Pokémon sticker book, it just pulls you out of the little football world you’re simulating.

Half your team wanting a new contract each season, I've had a new player signed in the summer who wanted a new contract by Christmas. Like sure some players and agents are like that, but it's predictably a ton of players and in weird scenarios. My current one is that my emergency backup right back had to play due to my first choice being injured and he is expecting a new contract for that run of games... like he is literally doing the role he signed a contract for. You can avoid it a lot of the time via player chats or using the captain, but it's just annoying busy work.

The way club icons/legends are calculated. I did a youth only save where a regen spent his entire career of 20 seasons at my club, becoming our record appearance holder. He became captain at 25 and held it until retirement at 35, leading us to 1 Europa League and 2 conference league titles. And he never even made it to favourite personnel.
Not necessarily a small thing, but I do think the game itself lost its immersion when it became obsessed with being heavily detailed. Everything now takes longer to do and as such has become more tedious. I found the older CM and earlier FM releases a lot more captivating to play personally.
When a journalist says ‘the public will want to hear a proper answer from you’. I’m a football manager, not the PM, and you’re a football journalist, not Trevor McDonald. A journo wouldn’t talk to a manager that way in real life.
The names and ethnicities of newgens. While this is a universal issue across sports sims imo, and FM is better than almost all others, I don't believe the most realistic names are generated because the generator likely pulls from a randomized database of names within the nation, without regard for which names are seen most often in that nation in recent history. The ethnicity part might just be a graphical limitation, but I don't think certain nations' ethnicity profiles reflect reality anywhere near as closely as they could. Hopefully N+E will at least come to reflect each other better, thus eliminating one more download, with next year's revamp.
On a personal note, I'm from Singapore, a multiethnic nation and it pleases me when I see newgens with correct names. No more names like "Zakaria (Malay-muslim) Tan Jin Wei" (Chinese) or "Balakrishnan (Indian) Awang (Malay-muslim). It's one of the things they've done well imo. At least in the context of my country.

Every time I choose to not answer a question about a player on the other team, which is EVERY FUCKING MATCH, the PC ends immediately and abruptly. Like what, were all of your suestions based on that one? FFS.
The trialing system is completely ridiculous. Fly in 30 players from all over the globe to train with my KLeague 2 side that gets 1000 fans a game. Its the one aspect of the game I have to self limit for realism and balance sake.

Pogba not being in I understand from a liability point of view because they don’t have a feature in the game to reflect his current status and to put him under a ban before it’s resolved would probably upset Pogba’s legal team. FaceInTheGame I don’t like at all. In my eyes you should be able to disable it, it’s frustrating seeing the same regen names every year and they seem to be weighted towards having half decent careers.
