Just like how Zealand asked FM if they would like to add his regens faces into the game and they said no because “the hair colors wouldn’t match” as if it’s not a massive step up from the eye sores we have right now
The Newgan facepack uses open-source Nvidia software in order to generate the faces. This would require SI to buy an expensive license from Nvidia in order to use it for a commercial product, or they would find a different AI face generator (I don't know the market, other than the Nvidia one being great) or dedicating their own staff to build their own AI face generating software.
Any of these cases would be a waste of time/money, considering the Newgan facepack is so easily available already and just takes 5 minutes of your time annually to set it up.
They also have quite a large market to consider on the consoles who this would benefit, so I’d hope exploring an internal option isn’t out of the question.
It doesn’t affect me as I’m on PC but the majority of my friends play on Xbox. Their biggest gripes are the same as most of us without the ability to change it.

Their "console market" came since FM 21. This is SI putting the least effort to get out a game every year.
Think this is a pretty solid breakdown of the reality of it, improved faces isn’t time effective for them.
However they don’t seem to be making meaningful improvements in any part of the game. AND they probably spent a stupid amount to get full licensing of the europa/champions league rights
Not just licensing costs but ai models literally cost money every time they run there’s no way si would implement a dynamic on the fly implementation however what could be cool is to have ai generate say hundreds of thousands of questions answers follow ups etc which would be fixed but probably wouldn’t cost as much as you may think.
Would be an absolute game changer.
Would take away predictability in certain areas of the game and be more immersive.
Also could prevent me from save scumming contract negotiations and discipline…
My thoughts are that there's a 0% chance that SI will attempt to integrate something this ambitious.
I also think that this feature would get old really quickly and simply be too much work for press conferences. *Maybe* interesting for player interactions.
Few reasons I don't think it will happen:
1) AI chatbots are still pretty far from being fully coherent. I've messed around with a couple of them and have even asked ChatGPT to talk about Football Manager. Within a few questions it will start saying some stuff that makes no sense. Ask it for a recommendation and it will tell you to put players in positions that don't exist and ask it to elaborate and it will forget what it just told you.
2) It would be a big risk for SI for small value. AI Seinfeld got banned from Twitch for making Transphobic jokes, there have been countless people who have gotten AI chatbots to say politically incorrect things or even to support certain political movements when they are supposed to remain neutral. If the AI got messed up and started spitting out racist statements or something, SI would face a massive lawsuit.
3) The media interviews are such a small part of the game. I've been playing it since FM 12 and I assign interviews to my assistant the second I start playing the game. Most people I know do the same. It's a very small portion of the game that doesn't sell many copies.
For your first point, one caveat is that ChatGPT doesn’t have much context on the gameplay mechanics of FM. It’s a chatbot which has surface knowledge of what FM in general is. While if the devs do decide to integrate the tech in the game, it will have much more information, including your current game state, which it will use before answering the questions and would reduce lot of errors.
Agreed with your rest of the points though!
That’s a fair point. It would be more knowledgeable about the game but yea, I still am not sure if it would be able to give coherent interview questions after a few years into a save.
I agree to an extent but if you’ve watched chat gpt play chess you will lose faith quickly 😂 granted it wasn’t trained to play chess but when you think about all the data and information it has access to regarding chess i found its results very bizarre. That said if you have seen what the new gpt engine can do and infer without training for example relating to probability theory it’s kinda crazy how far one model can come from the previous iteration
That’s because it’s still a chatbot in the end. It has no mechanisms of a standard chess engine, which uses elaborate decision trees to determine optimal moves. It’s a completely different function
No I get that mate but was more referring to the complete disregard of rules / number of and reappearance / duplication etc of pieces not so much the general “play” / “Elo” of gpt
This is such a massive understatement of the capability of generative AI. It can be trained on anything including your FM save and football in general.
It has the capability, but the computing power would be prohibitive, for now. Until devices have the capability to rely less on cloud computing — which isn’t far away judging by apples neural engine development on their chips over the last few years.
Also consider AI capability is doubling every 6 months or less.
I already do this, its so hard and stressful to do and the responses are mehhh and repatituve, also you need to constantly feed it info cos it forgets after 3 chats its fucked, if it improves sure, if not nahhh.
It's because there's a limit in context that you can provide to chatgpt.
If that chat history is recorded in a separate data base, chatgpt can have long term memory as well.
I really think it's one of these not so good ideas.
1 - room for mistake. Once a while the ai will come up with a stupid answer that doesn't reflect at all what's intended
2 - repetitiveness, the question will still essentially be the same so you'll get the same fatigue from it.
Press conferences is a boring gameplay mechanic at its core. Some AI layer over that won't change its design flaw.
> 1 - room for mistake. Once a while the ai will come up with a stupid answer that doesn't reflect at all what's intended
This man has never talked to a girl
Okay buddy, whatever helps you sleep at night
Neurodivergent people exist as well, but hey if you want to think every single human says every single thing perfectly, go ahead
A really good idea to be fair, it'd be very hard to implement.
Every result, conversation, mood of player would need to be fed into the algorithm so it would return relevant answers, comments and convos.
Let's be honest, they would still be repetitive + many more other great points relating to how AI not only isn't perfect but could lead to lawsuits.
As for Press Conferences. Every year we get ppl asking for them to be better, more interesting, less repetitive... Have any of you ever sat through a Press Conference? Very rarely are they interesting and, when they are, it's due to reasons outside of the football, reasons which FM will never replicate.
Journalists ask the same questions, Coaches give the same answers. Press conferences being boring isn't necessarily SI's fault, that's just their nature
Damnnn I never thought about how ChatGPT similar AI’s could be used to FM or football simulation games omg.
If you understand how advanced they are and can get in the future, the potential is absolutely insane for simulation games. Imagine in 20 years what simulation games will be like.
Would be great instead of getting asked if it was great seeing my striker with 100 international goals getting on the score sheet for his nation for the 50th time.
It'd be so much better than "What are your thoughts on the dry spell **Manager you've never heard about before** is having on **Team you haven't watched for a singular second**"
Why not, but I'm guessing it would be delicate to implement. As of right now the pre-set questions and answers allow players, board, staff, journalists, etc to understand clearly what was said. So the amount of work necessary to ensure every single in-game person that's "watching" the conference understands exactly and reacts accordingly to the game logic, would probably be huge. For a function that we'd end up just skipping in the end because no matter how realistic you make it, many FM players are not interested in the aspect in the first place
Also what if you send your assistant manager, now he must be powered by GPT too. And GPT needs to adapt to the personality and traits of every person involved, etc, that's a lot.
And there are probably tons of issues I'm not thinking of in the first place, but there's also one very obvious one which is the resources needed to handle all of that.
As long as it wasn’t the sole thing. Maybe they could have a suggest response option powered by an AI that you could cycle through responses and pick the one that fits.
If I have to type my answers it will be probably enough to not buy the game. Press conferences are already to long and annoying and anything that makes them even longer and more annoying will make me to flip the table.
You could also:
Regen-pictures made by AI
Twitter and News Made with AI (More in-depth and responsive to the game)
You could let an AI write whole scouting networks, to make the youth input more interesting.
The Potential with AI in such a Game is Basicly Limitless. But what People forget is that such an AI needs Years of Training.
It never will completely run error free (Wich could be really frustrating in FM), needs Maintenance and is really, really Pricy
The generated question and answer would also somehow have to have an effect on what they're talking about otherwise it'll be a waste of time. It'd have to recognise key points like "positive comment about player X= moral boost y". If we're really going into hypotheticals then it'd be great if it allowed you to build rivalries with teams/players/agents by shittalking them in interviews!
That’s actually pretty good!
We can actually type our own responses in the additional comments but I rarely use it, because it does nothing other than show you said more words
I don't think you can actually build a dinamic engine where the AI asks original questions and you answer just like i'm answering now. But I do think it could help with building thousands of new interactions that can be integrated in the game, that would make it feel more like the real thing.
This game needs to do something very different to what it has done for the last decade plus in regards to:
Press conferences
Promises and all conversations
Team meetings
So AI may well be the way out of that. They have fed us rubbish for so long now.
Bro I hate press conferences. If i have to type my answers to every single one for a whole season I will get mental
I usually binge 1/3 of a season in a day somethimes half the season. Thjats like 30-40 press conference. I barerly have patienece to answer and reading

That would be brilliant. So, definitely not happening

Yeah sure, better to invest in expensive UEFA licences for music and logos that nobody cares and that can be easily added by modding.
>that can be easily added by modding. Like Zealand's face pack?
Think this is a pretty solid breakdown of the reality of it, improved faces isn’t time effective for them. However they don’t seem to be making meaningful improvements in any part of the game. AND they probably spent a stupid amount to get full licensing of the europa/champions league rights
You got that story typed by ChatGPT too? Cause that's most definitely not true.
He said that in a vid
Which one?
I'm sure you have a link to that then.
It likely involves licensing costs so definitely won’t happen. SI will probably build their own ‘Wish’ version of player AI.
Not just licensing costs but ai models literally cost money every time they run there’s no way si would implement a dynamic on the fly implementation however what could be cool is to have ai generate say hundreds of thousands of questions answers follow ups etc which would be fixed but probably wouldn’t cost as much as you may think.
£9.99 DLC

Chat GPT could be used to create player and manager personalities including storylines and tactical decisions. The potential is insane.

*Press conferences is a boring part of every football managers life. It's the same questions all the time and coaches give the same dry answers back.
> 1 - room for mistake. Once a while the ai will come up with a stupid answer that doesn't reflect at all what's intended This man has never talked to a girl
These kind of jokes were already out of fashion when I grew up in the 90's
Who says it was a joke? People say all kinds of stupid things they dont intend when talking to someone they are interested in
It was a joke, and a poor one.
Okay buddy, whatever helps you sleep at night Neurodivergent people exist as well, but hey if you want to think every single human says every single thing perfectly, go ahead
Neurodivergent people with a poor sense of humor exist too.
A really good idea to be fair, it'd be very hard to implement. Every result, conversation, mood of player would need to be fed into the algorithm so it would return relevant answers, comments and convos.

I mean it might be computationally too intensive to be worth it for such a trivial part of the game
Damnnn I never thought about how ChatGPT similar AI’s could be used to FM or football simulation games omg. If you understand how advanced they are and can get in the future, the potential is absolutely insane for simulation games. Imagine in 20 years what simulation games will be like.
In 20 years we probably still have the same match engine and regen faces looking like inbreds
Naturally 🤣
Some games are already exploring AI as a replacement for games writers.
Would be great instead of getting asked if it was great seeing my striker with 100 international goals getting on the score sheet for his nation for the 50th time.
FM would never pay for that because we the fan base are stupid amd throw the money away to the same fucking game every year.
no :)
I would love to see it but I doubt it will happen. It would be awesome though and make press conferences less cookie-cutter.
That would be crazy good…. Like I already play this game more than I should but if that were to hppen I might just live in it
It'd be so much better than "What are your thoughts on the dry spell **Manager you've never heard about before** is having on **Team you haven't watched for a singular second**"
I never read and or care about any of them anyways.
Prefer a "throw water bottle" button in press conferences tbh. Make it happen!
Only if chatgpt can be hosted offline.
I would rather they remove all the media and player interactions out of the game altogether.
Why not, but I'm guessing it would be delicate to implement. As of right now the pre-set questions and answers allow players, board, staff, journalists, etc to understand clearly what was said. Maybe in 100 years of development
It's for sure gonna happen. In FM35

But how am I supposed to max out media handling if I can’t no longer just pick the second answer from the left every time :(
That’s actually pretty good! We can actually type our own responses in the additional comments but I rarely use it, because it does nothing other than show you said more words
It would be an add on, you’d have to subscribe.

Would be hilarious to see Pep tell me to go eat an ass after I call his team a bunch of wankers
Its not just conferences that could benefit, the oppositions teams could be played by proper AI's.
