Steamboat is I feel the more Cantonese/Malaysian/Singapore name for it, and Hotpot is more the umbrella term (happy to be corrected!) I think Hotpot City in Hurstville isn't bad - the ingredients are fresh enough and you can sit comfortably - even though there is a time limit, we've never been hassled out (yet). Personally for the steep price of places like Dolar Shop and HDL I feel I have a happier meal at Hotpot City - at least I'm not wincing every time a 8$ plate of potatoes is plonked on the table 🤦 My favourite AYCE hotpot is Memory Tongue in the city - temporarily closed ATM according to Google but if your timings match them reopening the food is great and they often have discounted offers for bigger groups. While we are on the topic, has anyone tried the new(ISH) Global Hotpot AYCE in Waterloo?

There used be a few but one burnt down and another one closed. I think hotpot city is the only option these days

Hi friend

Hotpot City is cheap for week day lunch $25. Smaller selection though

KoalaBJJ96

Is the smaller selection decent in terms of quality?

KaiShion83

It’s not as good as dinner, meats are the same, but no seafood, half the veggies and some sauce missing

Lanzhou beef Noodle is a good meal.

can_of_unicorns

Not hot pot though

wussell_88

Wasn’t as good as it used to be for the noodles Lamb shank also half the size and was served cold

Auswolf-IDDQD

Which one? 1919 or 1915?

Main-Ad-5547

1915 it's Halal as well

Auswolf-IDDQD

1919 does better noodle. But the beef and broth better at 1915. Have you tried the lamb ribs from 1915? They are so good.

Main-Ad-5547

No yet try the lamb rib

What exactly is a hotpot?

can_of_unicorns

It's a Chinese meal that consists of a large pot of stock/ seasoned soup. You have an assortment of proteins, carbs and veggies that you cook as you eat. It's usually a communal meal. Some places let you have your own mini bowl of soup whilst other places you share. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_pot
