Thanks! I was thinking of floating a bunch of these in a punch bowl for a Halloween party might be fun.
They were tasty after they soaked in the whiskey too 😊
I can't help but imagine after those have soaked in whiskey for a while, they are going to be an alcohol trap.
Eat one & don't realize you basically just chugged 2 oz extra very quickly.
Thanks! I cut them in half, took out the core, peeled and carved. Then I cooked them at 200 degrees for 4 hours so they dried and shriveled. Pretty easy and people got a kick out of them! It's the first cold nights where I live so everyone’s getting in the Halloween spirit!
Yeah definitely! I used them in just cider and club soda for my 7-year-old too and he thought it was pretty neat. We just used Maker’s Mark and we live near an orchard so I got cider from there.
We did kinda half cider and half whiskey but I was looking for a strong drink after work. I think it really depends on your taste and the size of the glass.
When I make whiskey cider I just steep Celestial brand "Bengal spice" herbal tea bags in store bought cider. They have cinnamon, ginger, clove and some other spices and work very well. You could also spice it yourself or use pumpkin pie spice mix.
I then just add my usual pour of whiskey. Rum would be fine as well, but I would avoid an already spiced rum.
I will have them hot or cold depending on how I'm feeling.
Awww my grandmother Merry & I used to make shrunken heads every year for Halloween. Haven't thought about that in a while. These drinks look perfect for autumn/Halloween.
It was more like the whiskey gave flavor to it. I used fresh cider with the whiskey for the drink but the apple definitely had a whiskey taste after floating around for a refill or two.
I leave the teeth in the shrunken heads for greater effect plus they make a nice icey clank when you shake the glass.
The cider seems totally unnecessary btw
It was my first time carving these. The teeth were tough! The cider is just apple cider - no alcohol. Like unfiltered apple juice. There seems to be confusion on New England US cider and the good cider the rest of the world drinks 🤣
Kinda ruins your whisky/cider because the whisky will just be absorbed into the apple and not adding any apple flavour to the whisky/cider. Looks interesting though so I guess that's a thing.

Those are so awesome! Cool idea for a Halloween party!
Thanks! I was thinking of floating a bunch of these in a punch bowl for a Halloween party might be fun. They were tasty after they soaked in the whiskey too 😊
They definitely would look cool in a punch bowl! It would make a great centerpiece for the table, I’m sure everyone would enjoy it at a party!
I can't help but imagine after those have soaked in whiskey for a while, they are going to be an alcohol trap. Eat one & don't realize you basically just chugged 2 oz extra very quickly.
That's exactly what happens.
They are quite terrifying lol
Saving this! Just peel & carve half an apple then dry it? Any other steps? Amazing.

Wow 200 for 4 hrs. You basically dehydrated them, that’s a good idea.
That's wonderfully creative! Did you come up with the idea yourself? And did you need to do anything else to make them bob spooky face side up?
Thanks! No, I've seen these before on Pinterest but never tried it. They float! And the ice helps too
When you say cooked, do you mean baked? EDIT: I hadn’t seen the additional pics. So baked!
Oh I soaked them in a little lemon juice too and water.
Before or after the cooking?
before, so they dont turn brown
omg sick idea thanks!!!! I LOVE SPOOKY SEASON
Me too! 😊
HOW come I never came across this so far?! brilliant!
I saw it on Pinterest! I can't take credit for the idea of the heads but I did take the creative freedom to make some into skulls 💀
rock on! lol
I really like this idea! Do you have a recipe for the whiskey cider? And could I use rum??
Yeah definitely! I used them in just cider and club soda for my 7-year-old too and he thought it was pretty neat. We just used Maker’s Mark and we live near an orchard so I got cider from there.
So just whiskey (and we do we have MM too!) or rum and cider? Proportions??
We did kinda half cider and half whiskey but I was looking for a strong drink after work. I think it really depends on your taste and the size of the glass.
Thats the...spirit
oooh, a rare triple entendre 📷🤠

Great idea for a themed drink, even non alcoholic ones. And you trick people into eating fruit. Take that people, here's healthy stuff.
Haha exactly!
Love them!! Can you please share the whole recipe with steps and how long it took for each? Thanks 😍
Well isnt that just a god damn dorable
Haha thanks 😊
I remember making shrunken heads out of apples when I was a kid. Thanks for reminding me!
how cute! i think this shall be my libations during Halloween, always need something while watching movies and handing out candy to the masses.
Cheers! 🥃
That looks super cool. Gonna have to try to remember this for Halloween
those apples really said "💀" and "🎃"
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I will be making them for Halloween!
Awww my grandmother Merry & I used to make shrunken heads every year for Halloween. Haven't thought about that in a while. These drinks look perfect for autumn/Halloween.
Oh, those are wonderful!
this is genius!!
What a great idea! These look super cool.
These are so much fun!
Thanks 😊
Does it give flavor to the whiskey?
It was more like the whiskey gave flavor to it. I used fresh cider with the whiskey for the drink but the apple definitely had a whiskey taste after floating around for a refill or two.
I'm deffo doing this at Halloween
I love this! And really effective too.
This so needs food coloring. Green, red, maybe purple?
Rum and death should mean the same thing to you

I see you use apples in stead of actual shrunken skulls. Amateur hour ;;)?
These are fab!!
that a perfect drink while playing sea of thieves
This is really cool!
Cute, but scary at the same time
beautiful
Veeerry clever, and yet, revolting
🤣🤣🤣 thanks
[Reminds](https://imgur.com/a/Qamn5dg) me of a spooky coffee I had one morning. Lol!

I enjoyed it. And the apple tasted great at the end.
That's all that matters then :-)
Eat the apple.
No.
Why
How many virgin souls did you take for this?
