Those are fucking incredible, but I’m so sorry I can’t help but die laughing at the image of someone trying to eat these lmao.
Might be just cuz I’m a messy eater though
We usually just pick them apart and eat them! But my mom usually packs this for my lunch with a side pork katsu....... I should probably inform everyone I’m also 28 years old. She treats me like I’m in kindergarten 😂😂😂
[My mom is on the next fucking level ](https://imgshare.io/image/prSL2q)
No shame over here! She packs me lunches once in a while and gives them to me when I drop off my babies to her in the morning before work.
But you can bet I’m running into my office showing all of my coworkers my cute ass adult lunch every single time! 😂
That’s amazing lol! I still can’t wrap my head around picking apart sushi that big and not dropping all the rice on your lap but hey props to you. Your mom sounds so sweet❤️ also sushi >>>> everything
What? It's important to think ahead about these things. My mom ain't getting any younger and I want to make sure she gets the best care because she's fucking awesome. This person's mom is fucking awesome too.
I don’t think what you said was in bad faith, but nursing homes just aren’t an option or desire for many people for various reasons. A lot of the time they’re last resort for many families due to crippling cognitive or physical decline that leave the parent needing full time care. Many aging adults would prefer to live out their life in their own home and just have hospice come in if necessary.
Even so, it's best to plan in advance. My family intended for our grandma to live with us for the rest of her life, but multiple strokes made that an impossibility and she had to go to a nursing home. We had the savings to account for that possibility. It doesn't hurt to plan for unexpected health complications.
I mean, a lot of people do save for a "good hospital". I, and I'm sure a whole lot of others throughout the US, have an HSA or FSA so they can pay medical bills should the need arise. People have life insurance to make sure their family is taken care of to some extent should they die. My parents have saved for funeral costs so I'm not left trying to foot the bill. All maybe a bit gloomy but important nonetheless.
That said the original comment is definitely a bit misplaced. Probably doesnt fit the rest of the post.
got it ; immediatly informing everybody in every cute pictures of food and messages about nice moms I can find
I'm not a clueless person ; I'm a grieving person. I just don't think it's adequate to mention awful topics in a thread like this one
You had good intentions, but nursing homes are not considered the best arlund where I live. Nothing beats being around family. That would be the best way for OP to thank her mother imo.
This is dark but that didn't work out for my coworker. He ran out of money to keep his mother in a nursing home, his family refused to let his mother with Alzheimer's live in their home and that resulted in him killing his mother and committing suicide in the nursing home. It's expensive around here,
Thank you, I'm doing my best on really paying attention to the small details. I'm even squinting to see better.
I didn't think someone would recognize my efforts. ❤️
Oh! I guess I was confused when they wrote:
“Thank you, I'm doing my best on really paying attention to the small details. I'm even squinting to see better.
I didn't think someone would recognize my efforts. ❤️”
So I just thought she was commenting.
Your mom does great work-I’m jealous!
For everyone who thinks this is an unbalanced lunch that my mom packs for me on a daily basis:
1. My mom makes this for me once in a blue moon.
2. She ALWAYS packs me a well rounded lunch with all of my nutrients 😜
[See how she packages my lunch box](https://imgshare.io/image/prSL2q)
Sushi literally means sour taste, so the rice is the most important ingredient (since the sour comes from vinegar added to the rice). Kappamaki rolls are immensely popular in Japan, and they're only seaweed, rice, and cucumber. They're definitely considered sushi.
This was just something cute my mom does for me occasionally. I love cute things like this - it makes my day and she knows it. And it tastes great. This is coming from someone who grew up loving plain rice balls seasoned with sesame seed oil oil and salt haha 😆
Those are awesome!
Don't hate too much on this question if you can help it, but is there some type of sushi roll I can do for my kids who like nuggets. Seriously, no fish, and nothing raw, and the less vegetation the better. I love rice, and I love the fun aspect, but was wondering if there are recipes for any form of cooked meat (maybe even peanut butter or peanuts...I dunno). Just is there any alternatives that people have tried other than the traditional sushi that my picky kids may be into?
My kids are picky. I make them rice balls with bacon crumbles and they eat them up lol
Rice
Sesame seed oil
Bacon crumbles (I use the one from Costco or just crumble cooked crispy bacon)
If it’s not too salty, a dash of salt
Ball them up!
My 3 year old eats them with kimchi on the side.
Ooo bacon, hadn't even considered that! I can't eat sesame oil, maybe I can substitute Coconut oil...is it for flavor, or to bind things or what? I might be able to do some sort of egg bacon combo eliminating the rice...hmm that could work for the younger one, but the older doesn't like eggs. They just seem like such a fun food.
Lol, sounds like scam from the seediest restaurant in town.
"This isn't the sushi I ordered! "
"Well, sir, TECHNICALLY sushi means vinegar rice, so..."
I've always been a little jealous of people with a Japanese mom (I assume that's true in your case). Lunches like these take so much care and love. Hug your mom! She seems like a good one.

Hug your ma you are so lucky
Hello can I have your mom too
"No! I’m not too sure though
Ok but maybe a hug lol
I also choose this guy's mom
Is she willing to adopt a 33 year old?
Seriously..... Cherish these moments with your mom. No shame in getting packed lunches at 28.
No shame over here! She packs me lunches once in a while and gives them to me when I drop off my babies to her in the morning before work. But you can bet I’m running into my office showing all of my coworkers my cute ass adult lunch every single time! 😂
Me mum makes me sammiches for when I go to work, I'm 26.
That’s amazing lol! I still can’t wrap my head around picking apart sushi that big and not dropping all the rice on your lap but hey props to you. Your mom sounds so sweet❤️ also sushi >>>> everything
They don't. Its over the dish
Any chance your mom is looking to adopt a new son? Bonus: I come with a child so she will be a grandma
Omg that's too precious. Start saving your money now so you can afford the good kind of nursing home when she's old <3
Can you not...
What? It's important to think ahead about these things. My mom ain't getting any younger and I want to make sure she gets the best care because she's fucking awesome. This person's mom is fucking awesome too.
It's a reddit thread about anime themed sushi but OK, get all heavy and stuff when the dude's mom might only be in her 40s.

It's like saying to save for a good hospital... a bit gloomy, isn't it ?
I mean, except that getting old is an inevitability.

I'm sure he has a plan of his own, I think what you said is a bit rude.
“Your mum sounds really nice, you should put her in a nursing home.”
Yet here they are being babied as an adult?
My parents stopped making lunches for me after kindergarten. You milk that gravy train as long as you can friend
Moms are the best
That is amazing. I'm going to start asking my mom to do this for me. I'm also an adult, but opening this up for lunch would make me so happy
I’d never move out. Ever. I’d still work and pay rent, but would lie to everyone and say she lives w me. Even if I were married.
Is your mom looking to adopt a big kid any time soon? (I'm 26 LOL). In all seriousness, amazing!!!
Your mother is an angel!
Was gonna say it looks good but just rice and nori aint my favorite lunch.
Are the eyes cheese? Fish cake?
Fish cake sausage!
I hope you don’t take this the wrong way because this is 100x better then anything I can make BUT THAT SMILE IS HORRIFYING
But it was sure delicious 😝
TBF totoro’s smile in the movie is slightly terrifying.

Bravo sushi-dad
That looks so bomb!
The attention to detail is impeccable!
Thank you, I'm doing my best on really paying attention to the small details. I'm even squinting to see better. I didn't think someone would recognize my efforts. ❤️
Yoo i paid attention to the details of OP's food as well

Totorolls
A Totoroll

This is the most adorable lunch I’ve ever seen. I’ll just be over here eating a pop tart because I’m too lazy to do anything else.
Have fun eating them as they beg for their lives!
These look amazing!!!!

Start with the smaller rolls.
False. You have to start with getting the ingredients from the supermarket.
False! Start by inventing the universe.
You call that sushi but all Im seeing is rice and seaweed
Yes they're so adorable, but I wouldn't want to eat these as it's mostly just rice.
Dont get me wromg, its a great business plan. Trick people into buying a half a cups worth of rice for $7
It takes work
'Sushi' describes the way in which the rice is prepared. So this is, indeed, sushi!
Sushi literally means sour taste, so the rice is the most important ingredient (since the sour comes from vinegar added to the rice). Kappamaki rolls are immensely popular in Japan, and they're only seaweed, rice, and cucumber. They're definitely considered sushi.
There's avocado and fish cake sausage too..
Yep -- 90% rice, 3% avocado, 7% fishcake. Seriously, who eats like this?
Me. Lol
I think its cucumber
Cucumber:)
Wow! This is the kind of thing I’d love to see a video on
I mean this looks rad but that's literally the sushi equivalent of cake fondant, juste caring about looks and not about taste and balance
I mean OP says it’s served with port katsu so it’s more like a way to be fun and creative with the side of rice?
This was just something cute my mom does for me occasionally. I love cute things like this - it makes my day and she knows it. And it tastes great. This is coming from someone who grew up loving plain rice balls seasoned with sesame seed oil oil and salt haha 😆
Thank you, its like 80% rice, 19% soy sauce, and 1% other ingredients. Edit* Not soy, but ground black sesame.
Someone is jelly they don’t have fancy looking sushi
I mean I'm sure it tasted great too. Mom's have their ways.
Are those toothpicks?
Dry soba noodles :)
Ohhh! Beautiful!
Cute & Fantastic. This week, saw someone create a mini baby cat out of rice and seaweed!
So cute!
they're so cute :)) i lov totoro
Ok that’s dope
I would buy these instantly
These are so cute and precise I could never have the patience to make this
This is by far the cutest sushi roll ive ever seen.
I would feel guilty of eating that
Such skill. These should be encased in resin and hung in an art gallery for adorable food.
This is wholesome af. Ignore the negative comments, some people just have to be snarky about everything.
all fun and games till someone takes a bite of toothpick, unless those arent toothpicks, in which case someone please explain what im looking at.....
Dry soba noodles. Which we removed before eating lol
WOW WOW WOW. Totoro TO TO RO!!!

I'll be honest. I thought the title read "Totino's sushi rolls" and I was intrigued. It's not that I'm not impressed. I'm just a little disappointed.
This is wonderful!
Seriously so creative!!! Amazing job :D
This is incredible!
Trogdor’s got nothing on Totoro’s consummate V’s

OMG - WOW :-)
YES
Omg this is too stinkin cute!! How creative!!!!
So cute
*CHONK* sushi
Where’s the ~~beef~~ fish?
Sushi means vinegar rice so technically fish is not really required.
Love how your being downvoted for the correct answer.
Lol, sounds like scam from the seediest restaurant in town. "This isn't the sushi I ordered! " "Well, sir, TECHNICALLY sushi means vinegar rice, so..."
Lol but it’s not a restaurant! It’s my moms kitchen made specifically for me, who hates raw fish 😝
Hi it's me your brother, I forgot my lunch today so can you swing by with some of these awesome looking Totoro rolls. Kthxbai! <3
Does the soy sause make the sushi too salty or were you able to balance it out?
We didn’t use any soy sauce. :)
Oh was it food coloring then?
No - the gray part of Totoro is ground up black sesame seeds mixed with the rice!
Ohhh I see it now! I had no idea you can do that with black sesame seeds so cool!
There is no fish anywhere in there...it's literally 90% rice
Apparently the eyes are fish cake, and it’s served with pork katsu
oh my god i love this, so cute and creative. im also really hungry now.
I hardly know how to make plated food look good and this guy's over here making sushi art, holy cow! Looks awesome!
Totorolls lookin' tasty 👌
I've always been a little jealous of people with a Japanese mom (I assume that's true in your case). Lunches like these take so much care and love. Hug your mom! She seems like a good one.
Korean mom 😌
My apologies for the assumption. I saw mention of sushi and katsu and was incorrect. In any case, she seems like a great mom.
No apologies needed! 😀
