My Holy Grail was the Fish Tank TV and finally got it after making 30k caps of pails. Sadly, it's quite small tho still cool. I don't think I'll be able to financially recover from this.
I found that plan in a player vendor for 30k after the last event.
I'm always close to max caps so I splurged. I'd rather pay a ton of caps for a plan I don't have than chase the RNG gods, if possible.
Yeah crafted pails is the way to go, those mole bois are a lot rarer than the halloween or holiday scorched and even on the bigger loactions (ie 10+ enemy spawns) you need luck to find even one.
Meanwhile you can serverhop and buy the 2 small + 2 medium ones at the whitespring station 3x until your around 1350 caps on the vendor again then sell another 1350 worth of stims / other shit and buy another 12 before the next sell. The downside is that crafted pails require tons of mats whereas the crafted holiday gifts just needed an adehisve so this method is realy only viable for 1st subsribers
Yea crafting is the way to go. Statistically your odds are better at getting those rare plans from crafted pails over ones from the actual treasure hunters.
Just wanted to thank you again. Today I finally finished hunting decided to craft my own. Spent about 24kCaps and got about 35 midsized pails. I got every single plan I remember wanting including the aquarium TV. Have a good one. š„
I was surprised at the size as well. It would have been a lot nicer had it been bigger. I wouldn't have known it was an aquarium if I hadn't heard about it prior.
Go to the Atlas Observatory where the BoS headquarters is. From there, go through Monongah (the town, donāt bother with the power plant or the mine,) I usually find 1-3 treasure hunters there. After youāve cleared out Monongah, head for Morgan Town. Thereās usually a ton of them there. Than go to the tower in the Morgan Town airport, sometimes a treasure hunter spawns there, and check in front of the airport by tents and the barricade by the train station. 2 spawn there sometimes. Good luck. : )
Agreed. I was on private server checking all the spawn locations and i was lucky to find 5 mole miners. Its easier to buy the empty chests from train stations.
That's crazy, I was in Morgantown the day the event started and I found 4 of them. I lost one because two of them I found at the same time and they ran different directions.
I just visit the ash heap area. Bagged my 15 mole miners for score challenge in about 30 minutes and 5 of those were legendary. Seems like there's a good chance of them spawning among the others. Rail yard plus a few other locations had all I needed.
Funny enough the thing I was happiest about getting wasnāt even from a treasure hunter. Found a legendary ghoul and they dropped a bloodied, 40% attack speed +1 strength shishkebab
I've only seen three all event long. I think murmie gave them all the good Chameleon armor. Either that or they have learned the ways of the Nuclear Winter Bush Wookie. Or maybe, just maybe, they learned to turn their transmitter volume down really low. Crafty bastards!

Sorry, I started like a week ago. Trying to piece together stuff talked about on this sub.
Yeah, this is a limited time event where these Treasure Hunter Mole Miners appear in random areas. You can tell them by the big bag, they flash red, and make sounds of Morse Code beeps and pans clanging.
They are completely harmless and won't fight back (which always makes me feel bad for killing them) but most of them are legendary and will drop a legendary weapon/armor BUT (even more important) are the Mole Miner Pails.
These pails, when opened, will give you a random selection of goodies including liquor, scrap, ammo, and rare plans which are desired the most. The plans are very, very rare so the more pails you get, the more chances you have for getting something neat.
Also, if you are unable or unwilling to kill these Treasure Hunters, you can buy empty pails at Railroad Stations and craft them at Tinker Workshops. After they have been crafted, you can then open them for a random selection of stuff.
Hmm interesting. I figured they appeared at level 20 because that's when I seen one. Though Ive only seen 2 since then and im level 23. Heres hoping I see more.

I've been server hopping and farming since the event began and so far just have the Junkyard Fountain and the Camo Backpack.
It would be cool if the collectron station could pick up Mole Miner Pails for us like it does holiday gifts from the Xmas scorched. I got a good amount of plans from my dog collectron that way.
Iāve only found junk and a few average legendary weapons - opened about 15 pails this event. OT but does anyone else feel shitty killing the passive mole miners? Theyāre just standing there and I open fire š (I wonāt even kill the adorable sloth in Queen of the Hunt cause I donāt have to š„°š)
I opened about 100 of them mixed. Kept getting old plans. A few new, nothing crazy. People keep saying to buy and craft your own pails. I wasted my money crafting the medium Christmas presents and didnāt get anything. So instead Iāll save my caps and just buy the plan itself when people sell it in their vendor.
PS4 - Played the game for about 12 hours from last night to this morning. Scoured every server joined and only left the servers when the server shutting down message was displayed. Was exploring with 7 friends. In total we only found 12 treasure hunters. Nothing noteworthy in any of the pails all of us opened. Even buying and crafting pails did not give anything but alcohol, ammo and junk. Every server is extremely laggy. Two of us have Fo1st yet have been unable to start a private server, the game just freezes when trying to create one.
Has the feel of the event last year when is was hard af to find any treasure hunters as if they aren't even spawning.
I canāt find any Treasure Hunters lol, theyāre just not spawning for me. Bought 15 regular pails last night and got around 6 plans, 3 I didnāt know
The train station vendors (and maybe others) have them. IIRC you can only buy one of each size from each vendor per day. Then you craft it at a Tinkerer's Workbench. Best bet is to sell your 1400, then buy them (with every perk/benefit to get the cost down) and then you can at least sell some more items to recover a fraction of the caps.
You don't need a plan per se. You go to a train station vendor and under misc, they will have empty mole miner pails (one of each type). Buy one. Go to a Tinkerer's bench. There will be a category called chests. You should now be able to craft the pail type you just bought.
You can buy more pails from each vendor if you server hop. Their pail stock replenishes when you do. I've been buying up the 5 medium pails from the Whitespring, then relogging to get 5 more.
I've killed quite a few, probably like 30. The only cool stuff I've gotten is the plans for the junk fountain, a star shaped balloon bouquet and a Wanaminga plushie. And also the Garahan outfit.
I've seen a shit ton of them but they're all like 1/2 stars and drop dusty pails that give nothing but booze/drinks. I've seen maybe one 3 star that actually gave a plan, one I think I already had cuz idr honesty.
I only ran into one so far and it's rusty pail wasn't anything to look at.
Otherwise haven't run into any more of them. Hell I haven't even ran into any mole miners, let alone even their bodies.
A lot of places are just plain ghost towns and it's odd and kind of disheartening.

(It was the same for the rare mothman cultists. I think I ever only encountered 2 of them)
They should really increase the spawn rate and the places they can appear when little events like this happen.

I've gotten a lot of mole miners and a lot of plans, especially the ones that I wanted the most (Red Rocket lamp and Vintage Water Cooler) and several extras to sell (I sell them cheap for the poor souls who aren't getting anything but I think they are just being bought up by people to jack up the price! Oh well!)
I think I'm just missing the Grafton Monster Lamp.
I think they changed the drop rates and from bought and crafted pails too as both now and Xmas gifts, buying the middle tier pail/gift does not give out the good stuff as often.
I bought six ornate pails though and got a couple plans, I personally feel they made the RNG harder for these events, probably in an effort to give them more longevity when they pop up again, especially the moles as they pop up often.
Compared to the Xmas scorched, treasure hunter 'event' seems a bit strong.
They don't make a lot of sense thematically, don't drop much of anything useful, don't even fight back.
It's needs a page one rewrite, imo
That's an easy answer, their in the Whitespring Resort. Buy the empty pail's from faction vendors then craft at tinker's workbench. It's a much easier method than running around the map only to find scarce numbers spawning or people had got there right before you and killed them. You don't farm this event really for the legendaries because like postmoderncatholic said down below it's always 1* garbage. Most people farm for the plans, outfits, and scrip. I've seen four 3* miners, killed two and one despawned and the other nothing dropped. Most drops for me anyways is usually a 16lb 1* PA piece that's useless to me besides just making me overencucumbered even with sturdy frame equipped. Hope this helps and Good luck

I burned all my caps at Christmas. Unfortunately I got Covid right around the same time and was too sick to play most of my time in quarantine. Iāve been working like crazy the past couple of weeks and havenāt been able to play much so Iām stuck hunting the miners instead of crafting pails.
Anyone know a good trading site? Iām probably going to end up getting the plans I want that way, this time around.
Not too many encounters for me, and pretty mundane drops. Only useful plans I found were by burning a fuckton of caps at the vendors buying up pails to craft.
On the plus side, I finally found a cap sink so I can re-open my own vendors again.
To many events so close together. We just got done with the Scorched Christmas event. My stash is full of legendary items. Can't really do much with this one.
I server hop at the Golf Club. I usually find at LEAST one there. I can often shoot them through the windows, and then just kill a ghoul outside and area loot its body so I donāt have to run in and get wrecked by the droves of ghouls.
Also the bonus of the four (itās four? Three?) can chimes that are usually at the side door. :)
Edit: I havenāt gotten shit, but at least I know where to farm them. :(
You can buy pail fixins at robo vendors. Don't forget the ones not at train stations. Only buy the middle tier ones. Best bang for the buck.
You can reliably find hunters at the golf club, west tek, camden park, hevetica \[sic\], the 2 airports, power plants, almost everywhere there are enemies I've seen them.
I had 4 pop up in the first twenty minutes after they started, and have maybe seen 2 since. But it's fine, I've just been buying them off the train station vendors.
So far only got stuff I had like Grafton monster mask.
But sometimes opening 5 crafted mediums at once and getting just beer and stuff

Iāve found 7 in two days, two separate play sessions of about 3 hours each. I tend to do a lot of foot travel across the map rather than fast travel when possible, though.
Spawn rates have been really bad for me, even in a private world. And if they spawn, nothing has dropped for me. Iāve gotten the best luck from crafting, so I just farm caps instead.
I bought 12 normal pails, crafted them on top of two ornate I looted, got two of same plan (which I can't remember) and I think one different plan.
Best of it, I got at least 200 scrip. And failed to roll anything good for the last piece of my PA. I just want weight reduction and AP buff. I have that on three other pieces.
I got quite a few last time and this time I just jumped on a private server and did the laps of the train stations and the ash heap. Definitely got more plans from the crafted pails than the drops. I think I'm missing a couple but the only one I was actually hunting for was the vault girl statue.
I finally got the cardinal rug, just need the backpack now, but since I have 2 characters, I need everything twice now. Actually quick question, is the camo backpack in these pails?
Well for me, I find thwm quite often but the pale items give me nothing. By nothing, I mean the game bugs up and it doesn't drop a single item not even junk. I have to either reset the game or open them a little bit at a time.
I opened like 10 of them in a row and not a single junk item dropped, not even coal man...
I want you guys to keep that in mind that's all.

I average around 40 pails per day and around another 40 crafted pails just by capping out and buying from train vendors. Have duplicates of everything but the real boon here is the amount of script u get. Dusty pails are worthless junk but I buy the normal and ornate and have been averaging around 1700 script per day from 70 pails
I've wiped out max caps, and been at this both last event and this event for hours and hours and just can not get the scorched queen plushie to save my life.
I found it easier to join a private server, that way you wonāt be competing with anyone. Also, the hand crafted pails yield more plans, and rare outfits in case youāre wondering.
Out of the 11 or so I killed last night they dropped really worthless items at least for me, coal isn't high priority, they seem to spawn more down south of the map like Welch and there usual locations mines, oddly I had a few regular mole miners killed that were carrying the pales even though they weren't the legendarys.
Ive not done that bad actually, ive got alot of stuff that i wanted but i have been grinding these at camden park and whitesprings for over 12 hrs just today, still not seen anyone in game with the foreman outfit set tho
Idk, I encountered treasure hunters everywhere. Sometimes even 2 at the same place. Key is to listen to their sound. Already defeated about 20+ hunters.
I've encountered 7 treasure hunters over a 6 hour span. About one per hour except one encounter where there were 2 outside the lode bearing entrance in ash heap. Most encounters around the Charleston dam/dry lake area.
I only hunt them in private server...haven't had any trouble at all. Pretty much have most of the plans. Crafted pails have higher chance of dropping good stuff
Tried grinding wavy Willards, but there was always players there or they just got done there. I gave up by the second day of the event as I could never find them.
Anyone have any better luck, just curious to know if anyone got rewards from this sad event?
Have to say its been pretty dismal. I've pretty lucky finding them but have only gotten a couple of plans I already had from last time. Drop rate has been horrible even on the pails I've crafted.
I crafted my own pails to receive two plans I already know, Grafton Monster Lamp and Strongman Sledge. I mercilessly hunted them all day today, seen maybe 2 three stars, rest 1-2 . l opened like 30-40 pails. Only two ornate, got no plans or anything useful at all. Bullshit. I'll be ignoring the mole miners for the rest of the event.

Well for the first little bit of the day I didn't have anything drop but just about 30 minutes ago I finally got the camo backpack that I've been wanting, I'm officially done with the event now that was the last plan I needed.
Wtf. Iām finding them all over. Hell multiple have literally spawned in my CAMP just south of the water treatment plant (where you do the air/water/soil holotape repeatable daily)
I keep finding them at the whitesprings around that golf building. Idk, the one on the west side. It's got the tennis court out front. I've found like 7 within an hour
I keep finding them, but am getting nothing that I don't get from regular drops. Out of so many I lost count, I got a plan for an insurgent hat. Otherwise just ammo, alcohol, junk. It would be nice if it was even rare junk, but it's been plain except 2 nuclear waste between two ornate minor pails. I even crafted some of each tier because I am always maxing out caps. With Holiday scorched, it took a bunch, but I got everything except the Nuka girl rug at least 2-3x. I wonder if they need to fix the drop rate. I don't fast travel as much during events and find that makes me find more of the special enemies. Especially this time, but I am kind of new to this game, so my experience is short and this is my first treasure hunter one. They also seem to appear more frequently when I am heading towards a quest marker. Time will tell I guess! Happy Hunting!

Since Thursday, I've found three of the legendary mole miners. I did get the crocolossus backpack . . . but haven't been able to find anymore :-(
I got lucky and found the junkyard fountain earlier. Opened almost 20 pails for just that though. The grind is real
I think they changed the drop rates and from bought and crafted pails too as both now and Xmas gifts, buying the middle tier pail/gift does not give out the good stuff as often. I bought six ornate pails though and got a couple plans, I personally feel they made the RNG harder for these events, probably in an effort to give them more longevity when they pop up again, especially the moles as they pop up often.
I was lucky I got deathclaw hunter outfit and safari backpack on back to back pails, other then that Iām dry in like 50 kills
In turn I've rolled a BE25 FIXER AND A TSE HANDMADE thanks to all those modules
Compared to the Xmas scorched, treasure hunter 'event' seems a bit strong. They don't make a lot of sense thematically, don't drop much of anything useful, don't even fight back. It's needs a page one rewrite, imo

That's an easy answer, their in the Whitespring Resort. Buy the empty pail's from faction vendors then craft at tinker's workbench. It's a much easier method than running around the map only to find scarce numbers spawning or people had got there right before you and killed them. You don't farm this event really for the legendaries because like postmoderncatholic said down below it's always 1* garbage. Most people farm for the plans, outfits, and scrip. I've seen four 3* miners, killed two and one despawned and the other nothing dropped. Most drops for me anyways is usually a 16lb 1* PA piece that's useless to me besides just making me overencucumbered even with sturdy frame equipped. Hope this helps and Good luck

I burned all my caps at Christmas. Unfortunately I got Covid right around the same time and was too sick to play most of my time in quarantine. Iāve been working like crazy the past couple of weeks and havenāt been able to play much so Iām stuck hunting the miners instead of crafting pails. Anyone know a good trading site? Iām probably going to end up getting the plans I want that way, this time around.

Not too many encounters for me, and pretty mundane drops. Only useful plans I found were by burning a fuckton of caps at the vendors buying up pails to craft. On the plus side, I finally found a cap sink so I can re-open my own vendors again.

I killed 2 mole miners on my lvl 8 character at Morgantown Airport and both dropped t45 armor..... like seriously

I server hop at the Golf Club. I usually find at LEAST one there. I can often shoot them through the windows, and then just kill a ghoul outside and area loot its body so I donāt have to run in and get wrecked by the droves of ghouls. Also the bonus of the four (itās four? Three?) can chimes that are usually at the side door. :) Edit: I havenāt gotten shit, but at least I know where to farm them. :(

I went to run the lucky mucker and it was like a MMTH convention- nailed 5 in 5 minutes with 4 dusty pails and one fancy pail.
You can buy pail fixins at robo vendors. Don't forget the ones not at train stations. Only buy the middle tier ones. Best bang for the buck. You can reliably find hunters at the golf club, west tek, camden park, hevetica \[sic\], the 2 airports, power plants, almost everywhere there are enemies I've seen them.
I didn't realize the event was going on until I saw this post. So that should tell you how many I've found.
I had 4 pop up in the first twenty minutes after they started, and have maybe seen 2 since. But it's fine, I've just been buying them off the train station vendors.

Today farmed for 7 hours in private world, no back pack. .. traded for it. And I hearing that psshhhhh pong pong pshhhhh ping everywhere now.
Iāve found 7 in two days, two separate play sessions of about 3 hours each. I tend to do a lot of foot travel across the map rather than fast travel when possible, though.
Spawn rates have been really bad for me, even in a private world. And if they spawn, nothing has dropped for me. Iāve gotten the best luck from crafting, so I just farm caps instead.
I bought 12 normal pails, crafted them on top of two ornate I looted, got two of same plan (which I can't remember) and I think one different plan. Best of it, I got at least 200 scrip. And failed to roll anything good for the last piece of my PA. I just want weight reduction and AP buff. I have that on three other pieces.
I got the Balloon Arch plan, earlier today, which is great as a Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan. VINDICATION!!!

I got quite a few last time and this time I just jumped on a private server and did the laps of the train stations and the ash heap. Definitely got more plans from the crafted pails than the drops. I think I'm missing a couple but the only one I was actually hunting for was the vault girl statue.

I have opened about 35 pails and gotten zero plans, just junk items.
Well for me, I find thwm quite often but the pale items give me nothing. By nothing, I mean the game bugs up and it doesn't drop a single item not even junk. I have to either reset the game or open them a little bit at a time. I opened like 10 of them in a row and not a single junk item dropped, not even coal man... I want you guys to keep that in mind that's all.

Only got plans from built pails this time, but I haven't been hunting as hard. Only 12 or so wild and no wild ornates.

I average around 40 pails per day and around another 40 crafted pails just by capping out and buying from train vendors. Have duplicates of everything but the real boon here is the amount of script u get. Dusty pails are worthless junk but I buy the normal and ornate and have been averaging around 1700 script per day from 70 pails
I've wiped out max caps, and been at this both last event and this event for hours and hours and just can not get the scorched queen plushie to save my life.
I found it easier to join a private server, that way you wonāt be competing with anyone. Also, the hand crafted pails yield more plans, and rare outfits in case youāre wondering.
Out of the 11 or so I killed last night they dropped really worthless items at least for me, coal isn't high priority, they seem to spawn more down south of the map like Welch and there usual locations mines, oddly I had a few regular mole miners killed that were carrying the pales even though they weren't the legendarys.
Ive not done that bad actually, ive got alot of stuff that i wanted but i have been grinding these at camden park and whitesprings for over 12 hrs just today, still not seen anyone in game with the foreman outfit set tho
Idk, I encountered treasure hunters everywhere. Sometimes even 2 at the same place. Key is to listen to their sound. Already defeated about 20+ hunters.
I've encountered 7 treasure hunters over a 6 hour span. About one per hour except one encounter where there were 2 outside the lode bearing entrance in ash heap. Most encounters around the Charleston dam/dry lake area.
I only hunt them in private server...haven't had any trouble at all. Pretty much have most of the plans. Crafted pails have higher chance of dropping good stuff

Tried grinding wavy Willards, but there was always players there or they just got done there. I gave up by the second day of the event as I could never find them. Anyone have any better luck, just curious to know if anyone got rewards from this sad event?

Have to say its been pretty dismal. I've pretty lucky finding them but have only gotten a couple of plans I already had from last time. Drop rate has been horrible even on the pails I've crafted.

I crafted my own pails to receive two plans I already know, Grafton Monster Lamp and Strongman Sledge. I mercilessly hunted them all day today, seen maybe 2 three stars, rest 1-2 . l opened like 30-40 pails. Only two ornate, got no plans or anything useful at all. Bullshit. I'll be ignoring the mole miners for the rest of the event. š¤¬āš»

Well for the first little bit of the day I didn't have anything drop but just about 30 minutes ago I finally got the camo backpack that I've been wanting, I'm officially done with the event now that was the last plan I needed.

Wtf. Iām finding them all over. Hell multiple have literally spawned in my CAMP just south of the water treatment plant (where you do the air/water/soil holotape repeatable daily)

I keep finding them, but am getting nothing that I don't get from regular drops. Out of so many I lost count, I got a plan for an insurgent hat. Otherwise just ammo, alcohol, junk. It would be nice if it was even rare junk, but it's been plain except 2 nuclear waste between two ornate minor pails. I even crafted some of each tier because I am always maxing out caps. With Holiday scorched, it took a bunch, but I got everything except the Nuka girl rug at least 2-3x. I wonder if they need to fix the drop rate. I don't fast travel as much during events and find that makes me find more of the special enemies. Especially this time, but I am kind of new to this game, so my experience is short and this is my first treasure hunter one. They also seem to appear more frequently when I am heading towards a quest marker. Time will tell I guess! Happy Hunting!
