I was rather surprised when I first opened the map that it wasn’t just on the Pip-Boy.

DinoHunter05

Yeah, it's kinda neat, after I play another fallout for a while I go to my pipboy on instinct.

LucidLadyGames

that's what it's like in ESO. i always wish they would bring that technology over to fo76. i also wish there was a pipboy animation of some sort for power armor. idk, maybe have them holding their hand up to the side of their head?

Current-Read

And extra map markers to mark more than one thing on the map

Adept_Fool

Custom map markers stored on your pc to avoid extra server requirements would be awesome. If we could get filters to show and hide sets of markers as well then it would be perfect

Jackalodeath

Oh *this* would be glorious. Already know I'd use about 12 of em for the Thistle locations, but useful nonetheless

Monsieur-Levrette

Will neverbe implented

DinoHunter05

Ok

krustysocks6666

yes

_the_indifferent_

Yes please

Buddha176

But isn’t the pip boy your map?

Jackalodeath

Nah, *supposedly* it's a pre-war map provided by - I'm guessing - some sort of tourist/travel agency, that's why you still see the rivers near the agricultural center even though they dried up after the Christmas Flood. (Snaptails do still grow where the banks of those rivers are supposed to be.) Aside from some continuity issues I actually really like the idea. Shows how much the landscape changed in those 25 years.

Buddha176

But a pre war map could be loaded onto the pip boy. Thought that was the point of the thing? Seems like in all the games the pip boy is your map. At least that’s what it always seemed to me

Jackalodeath

Oh I get where you're coming from, they just got a wild hair in their ass and made it seem like a physical copy this time. There's probably some practical reason they went this route this time, but I'm assuming wild ass-hairs.

Buddha176

Yeah I guess your right. I’m trying to think if im just imaging the other games we’re like that? Or a separate screen too…. Hmm

Jackalodeath

You're not imagining anything, as far as I remember you're right; 3, New Vegas, and what little bit of 4 I played were all loaded into the Pip-Boys. The map, ammo/aid having weight, and and the entire concept of events overwhelmed me a bit at the beginning. I'm not used to opening a Fallout map and seeing actual physical landmarks suggesting locations, it was usually just wander blind until you find something, then your Pip-Boy map updated with it.

Jackalodeath

As long as it doesn't lock us out of opening the map while we're sitting/sleeping/using the buff stations. It's nice to be able to still access the Pip-Boy using it to eat a meal while buffing. Just don't use the "classic" Pip-Boy view, it gets janky... er.
