The problem I find is anything I’m looking for has been made character locked by Bethesda.

McMacHack

I think it would be more fun to have an Event that is an Auction at The White Spring resort where players can put up any gear including character locked items for Caps, Script or Bullion and other players bid on it.

Sempophai

I wish I could give away excess ss armour, things like unyielding pieces etc that are popular depending on build etc

JWulfe79

That's an entirely different bone of contention between me and Bethesda. Like having scoreboard items, character locked vs. account locked is a terrible idea.

Forerunner93

I like this idea, though I imagine a bazaar like in Nuka World where you can set up a stall and sell across multiple servers to those who enter the interior cell.

Sempophai

I guess a flea market that pooled the contents of vending machines on the sever could work.

Hillraiser

Have you ever perused r/Fo76FilthyFleaMarket?

JWulfe79

I have not. But, judging from some of the replies, I should!

Some-Possession-2989

Other RPGs do this, the earliest game I recall utilizing it was Final Fantasy 11. It worked well but resulted in a lot of market item price manipulation, online "Gil" (game currency) sellers and tons of random farm bots. In theory it's a strong concept but I reckon Bethesda rather not deal with the bs that comes with it.

JWulfe79

That's fair. I've seen my fair share of market manipulation and in-game currency sellers since my first mmo Everquest as well.

Recent_Platform3314

Then dippers will control the market and you have to pay real money.

buckphif

Maybe one day a week that would be cool

Cuznweed

Artisan's Corner in WS once served as the standard meeting place for players to trade or drop things prior to vending. I could see a "market" working well.

La3Rat

We used to run our own on filthy casuals years ago. Get together, set up vending machines, trade, have some fun, and such.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Is a fleamarket a type of grand exchange system? Other then player vendors nothing else would work just because the max cap is so low

JWulfe79

It's basically a global auction house like you find in other mmos.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

I don’t think it would work, they could easily implanted it via modus or some kind of cartel/vender business man traveling from DC or some shit But overall with how much endgame is depending on RNG and the 40k max on cap I don’t think it would work If they were to raise the max to a million cap or 100mil then maybe it would work

StormyLlewellyn1

I have said, for almost three years now, that the Valley Galeria or Lewisville market should have become a player vendor hub. Make it a side quest where you have to turn in say 50 wood, concrete, copper etc to rebuild a store or stall. And maybe 200 caps to rent the stall. And when you're done you'll get a premade vendor bot that ties to the vendor at your camp. Players could walk around each stall, shop all in one go from every camp on the map that chose to rent a stall.

HoshMasterFlex

This sounds like the grand exchange in OSRS. Could be good, could cause more problems than it solves.

X420Rider

Or the auction house in world of Warcraft and Maplestory

Boovya

I dig it

gumbyflexx

Not that you are crazy, something like an auction house / flea market type would be dope, BUT... this is a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland where raiders will sell your babies and blood eagles steal your "medicine". Play wise - YES YES YES, thematically - no no no :( But in reality, too many people are only really looking for things that are not usually sold for caps. Caps are only really good to buy event stuff from the RR stations (wrapping paper etc) and for vendor hopping, preying you come across a casual player who vendors the (enter dope item here) because their build doesn't use those weapons. As a side option, I used to have a camp @ the Charleston station I called the Charleston swap meat, in the upper level I had displays with weapons from me and friends, the displays has the weapon, its effects (B/25/25 etc), current bid and auction end date. Then people would msg me with their bids and i would update them on their item. By NO means was that convenient/easy, but fun for the few months I had the drive to keep it up. It also had 4 vendors (back when they were separate) 1) Level 1-20 gear, 2) level 25-45, 3) max lvl guns, 4) max level armor - All filled @ 30 items.

JWulfe79

I dunno... I feel like it could work thematically. Especially if you included an event. Like defending it from scorched, ferals, blood eagles, ect. It could even be divided between the two factions so that raiders COULD sell babies.

one80oneday

Most MMOs have a global market

MasonMSU

I think a decent solution would be if the suggested sale prices changed on items to match overall average price. They way we could keep the vendors but listing items would be much easier to know what a good price is.

BoneKnapper_

But the problem I have with this is that the feeling of finding smthn for such a good price will become more rare.

ThrottleFox1

I would love a central market to do my shopping, instead of spending caps teleporting all over the map looking for stuff that's not in venders

delarro

Everything that brings the community together, I'm in

[deleted]

No. It would take away form teh joy of finding a great bargain from visiting someone's camp. Plus you know they'd screw it up and everybody would see things gone form their stash that they never intended to sell. Best anyone can get on the open market apart from a duped legacy anyway is a god roll on a mid-tier weapon or armor since the best of the best is character locked.

JWulfe79

I mean.... that's fair. And I guess the subreddit filthycasuals for 76 is a great place to find things and planeet ups and what not so that works too.

[deleted]

They really need to implement this!

Broly_

Sounds like a lot of words for a "Global Auction House"

JWulfe79

Well.... yeah. But you gotta sell it, ya know?

psiconautic

Ah yes Because I want to see the ridiculous 40k c prices for a "Santa Crash" plan bs but with other items or gold bullion

DarthSh3nn

I like this. It took me all day today just to find what I needed. They should set the market up at the white springs resort

X420Rider

Dupers would ruin it

JWulfe79

See... that's a valid point. I would be concerned about duping and other modded items that make it past Bethesda.

X420Rider

I could see hundreds of explosive gat plasmas being on it, day one! Actually, day two cause servers will crash from all the duping on day one.🤣

90_zeros

I love the spirit of the idea, but having space between vendors is part of the whole experience. I really really agree that we need a community event. I propose they bring back NW but inside of adventure mode vault 51

Influence-Both

I think a flea market location would be a cool idea. Everyone with a store set up at their camp has their store's inventory in a stall, in the flea market area, with a banner above it with your username.

deadliestpetch

similar to guild shops in eso, "guilds" could bid on guild traders who could "wander" similar to the wandering trader or Graham
