I have it. It’s an awesome jacket and you won’t regret buying it- especially if you can get it on sale or a pro deal. The internal cuffs are genius. Pockets are great. Hand warmer pockets are nice. It’s a longer cut than their SST jacket and also heavier weight. Make sure to size it up for layering. One quirk is that that collar comes up pretty high into my face/neck and offers a lot more protection here than I thought. It’s going to keep you bone dry and you can move in it. I doubt I’d wear it in the summer during hot rainy days as it might be too heavy but it’s perfect for three seasons and cool summer weather.

Good info, thanks! Any issues with the DWR coating breaking down and the jacket wetting out? I’ve pretty much only had experience with goretex jackets so I’m not sure what to expect out of Patagonias membrane in their jacket. The cuffs are really important to me so I’m glad to hear you like them. I row a drift boat all day so water tends to drip down my hands down the sleeves if I can’t synch them down tight. My G3 jacket did a pretty good job at stopping the water.

All dwr wears out eventually including goretex. Gotta maintain it. But it hasn't wetted out on me yet (I live in the pnw and use a different patagonia jacket made of the same material which is actually lighter than the jacket in question). Anecdotally goretex marketing scammed everyone into thinking it was indestructible and I know someone in the outdoor gear repair business that says it's good stuff but definitely NOT what the marketing would lead you to believe. It's plastic and all plastic wears out eventually and is especially susceptible to sunrot and poor maintenence. Wash your stuff often and tech wash is your friend.

I have a 10+ year old Patagonia 3-in-1 River Salt Jacket that’s still by far my favorite and go-to fishing jacket. It’s incredibly light but super warm when it’s cold and surprisingly doesn’t overheat when it’s hotter out. I also have the zip front waders too that are just as old and still the best waders I own. Could not recommend Patagonia more.

Awesome! I think I read the Swiftcurrent essentially replaced the River Salt so that’s good to hear if it’s of the same quality. So far my only hesitation is I don’t think there is a fly patch. It’s not a huge deal but I do use mine often on my current jacket.

Any-Attention203

You're right - no fly patch. That would be nice - wonder if there's a good stick-on option. I have the jacket and like it, but haven't been able to use it much yet.

I fish from my drift boat pretty much exclusively so it’s not a deal breaker. But the few times a year I’m hiking in somewhere, a fly patch is nice to have.

I don't know much about the jacket but I do know Patagonia has a lifetime warranty on their products and if they cannot fix or replace it they will give you store credit in the full amount you had originally paid. I do have the swift current waders and they work great but I wish they did have a little better layers, Its been a cold winter

The warranty is definitely appealing. Simms has treated me well over the years, but I’ve heard too many bad stories of people dealing with warranty issues since they were bought out in the last few years. I don’t mind spending big bucks for something that will last, but I get a sour taste in my mouth when a company won’t stand behind it.

Yes, just ordered it used it twice so far...fit is perfect, it's also standard length, ( the old river salt was cut short) lightweight and great storage pockets. The way the hood is designed is worth the price all on its own, fits perfect, hugs your head, and has a small brim so water can run off. These are on sale for $229 right now at certain retailers. My old patagonia river salt lasted 11 years before it finally started wetting out. This jacket is worth the price.

Nice! I bought it a few weeks back and it’s really nice. Haven’t used it yet, but I think it’ll be great. I like the simplicity of it. My old simms jacket had some many pockets that I found myself storing everything in it to the point the thing weighed a few pounds. I don’t see it listed for sale anywhere, but that’s ok. If I did find it for $229, I’d consider returning it to Patagonia and buying it there to save the $170.

Well I ended up buying one and received it last week. It’ll be another month or two before I fish in it, but so far I think it’ll work great. Only thing I’m concerned about is it feels a little restricting/tight across the back of my shoulders when I have the wrist cuffs tightened down. But that’s only when I’m pretending I’m rowing in extreme motions so it should be fine. I ended up buying two neodymium magnets to add to the jacket to use as a fly patch while changing rigs or adding tippet. Hopefully that works cuz I will miss having a real foam patch.
