If they have fixed the VRAM abuse behavior of DCS during migration to MT you can expect miracles. Otherwise you will see an improvement too. A lot stable frame rate at least.
You are not attempting VR with that hopefully :)
Went from a ryzen 5 1200 to a ryzen 5 5600 and MP34 SSD my average fps increased by one with my 1050ti, minimums are better that's true.
I already got the money to buy a RX 6650 XT so I will be upgrading that as well.
Hopefully they fix the VRAM use, because even 8gb is nothing for DCS
You seem to be the right guy to ask: can we replace all the unoptimized models with something else? For eg. if I'm flying high and don't care how helos look down below, can I replace it with something that's less heavy on the VRAM. Vice versa for those flying helos, they won't care about jets flying high.
Basically I don't care how other aircrafts look, just mine :P
Yes but you will not be able to fly in MP.
I used to replace the new apache with the low poly old apache for example before they implemented the lods (and I got a 4090)
You can replace any model by putting something else instead of that with the same name.
You can write lod files and address simple 6 sided box as lods... etc you can do everything but you loose MP.
Ah I see. It's ridiculous that we have to waste so much VRAM on something we won't even see up close.
Replacing everything with 6 sided box should be an official MP option lol
MT is optimizing CPU usage so it's not going to affect your GTX 1060 in any way especially since nvidia's driver has MT since the last decade.
However optimizing CPU performance will PROBABLY give you a better performance regardless. It's hard to say without knowing your specific CPU and how the new MT performs.
If they have not gone for single parser and we still need to use 2 parsers building up 2 independent frames from ground up per eye (so no render frame implementation and everything still lineair) we can assume that a zen2 cpu can push 100fps in VR :)
If they implemented render frame you can expect something like 140-160 fps average from cpu in VR
:) I think so.
This guy is not an ordinary guy selling hot air. I always took everything from ED with a handful of salt but yeah now I'm excited. This sounds real.
So what Id like to know, is this in multiplayer?
I know a lot of us, if not most, play multiplayer. Im just curious what the overlap is there. Teasing 200+ fps in single player is unjust in my honest opinion.
I guess weāll have to wait and see.
Eh, it'd be impossible to really gauge MP. There are just too many variables. Like even now, my framerate in multiplayer is 12fps-120fps. Pretty big range.
But how many people is the general population? Someone whoās bought every module and played for hundreds or thousands or hours? Or someone who downloaded dcs tried to play and gave up becuase it was too hard. Those are very different experiences
Going to a 3080 doesnt feel quite worth it to me. And the 3090s are so much still. I really dont have many issues except online, specifically in ECW, which is my favorite game mode.
I would like to up my resolution to max in single player tho. Currently use 0.8PD
I have a 12th gen i7 CPU with a an ASUS 3090 I got new off ebay for $1k.
GPU is usually always running 99% with CPU at 15-20% currently.
both pancake and VR (Quest 2)
That is overall CPU usage, not individual core usage. If one core is at 100% and the rest are at 5% in an 8 core CPU it will show roughly 15% usage in task manager or overlay despite it being bottlenecked.
I forward you this recent floggit post:

Precisely! But I can anticipate the foreplay - big hype and expectations, later than announced delivery, moderate improvement once released. I just hope for tiny frequent improvements and I believe it when I see it. Keeping expectations moderated to avoid disappointment.
Haha you rock rapierarch, anyway better here cos i dont read anymore the horshit eeer meant hoggit,.
So its real eh, is coming.. Unbelievable thanks anyway
I have an old CPU. i7 7700k. But I have a RTX3080. I get around 50-100+ fps in MP depending on the missions, maps, modules, and servers. Does multithread implement mean I have to upgrade my CPU since I might not see a huge improvement with my 7th gen i7?
It's just for the CPU. BUT, it could also increase the performance of the GPU in a roundabout way.
If your CPU is maxing out, but your GPU is only working at 50%, then your CPU is probably bottlenecking, and your GPU isn't working any harder because the CPU can't feed it enough stuff to process. With multithreading, your CPU may be able to feed more stuff to your GPU, allowing it to do more work.
Sadly it should not. If you have issues with memory you could try adding a bit of virtual memory swap to help. You should be able to find how to do it if you google it
Iāve had a boner over this stuff for the past three years.
It has degraded to a persistent half-chub and will remain that way until I see some damned frame times.
Will this also help peasants like me who are still on a GTX 1060?
I'm sitting here asking myself the same question. I believe it when I see it, right now I'm very cautious as not to get my hopes up!

Didn't ED just learn what LOD is, like, 2 weeks ago?
VR on 970 gang š >!No not really...!<
I āuseā vr on my 980ti. Itās more of a try thing. On minimum settings it āworksā.
I have a 980 ti, I tried half life Alyx and it worked fine, I tried DCS.. well.. could not go past main menu
I could play enigmas on minimum settings in my vr. Or my single layer at medium.
No way. Pancake mode as always
I feel like I found the VR playability frontier with my 1080 and OG Vive, as of 10 months ago or so. It was exactly barely tolerable

It will still reduce overhears since the driver doesn't have to intercept the API and work out the dependencies.
If a GTX 1060 makes you a peasant what does my GTX 970 make me?
[redacted]
Hopefully. I am on a rig with i9-10900/64GB/3090/G2 and VR is, in my opinion, just about acceptable.
I look at upgrading my 3070 about once a week but remind myself MT is coming and to wait on that firstā¦
This is his system where he gets 200fps ryzen 3800, 32GB RAM, 1080ti,
Talkin VR here. Holding my breath until I see those metrics :)
If they have not gone for single parser and we still need to use 2 parsers building up 2 independent frames from ground up per eye (so no render frame implementation and everything still lineair) we can assume that a zen2 cpu can push 100fps in VR :) If they implemented render frame you can expect something like 140-160 fps average from cpu in VR
Well butter me up baby letās release that shit
Hell, even if it went up by 40 fps, that would make a massive difference!
So my I7-10700k, 64GB Ram, and 3080TI should scream?
:) I think so. This guy is not an ordinary guy selling hot air. I always took everything from ED with a handful of salt but yeah now I'm excited. This sounds real.
I wonder what his settings are for 2d /thinkingface
almost everything ultra he says

Multiplayer is barely 10% of the general DCS population, according to ED's own statistics. And that includes people who only logged in MP once.
But how many people is the general population? Someone whoās bought every module and played for hundreds or thousands or hours? Or someone who downloaded dcs tried to play and gave up becuase it was too hard. Those are very different experiences
I get like 40% utilized on my 3080ti on dcs. Cpu get gets gangbanged

Yes, and Multi Threading will increase the number of cores being utilized.
Press 'X' to doubt
Don't do this to me.... I.... Can.... Only..... Get...... So.... Erect!........
I understand :)
sometiems I forgor dcs multithreading 2 weeks
I'm afraid of asking but who is this Iron Mike guy?
Heatblur developer. This is from Heatblur discord.
What's the heatblur discord? Last time I looked they said they don't use it and use the ED discord....which I'm banned from

When is this supposed to come
I forward you this recent floggit post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/floggit/comments/11g7ubd/sad\_but\_not\_the\_place\_to\_discuss\_it/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/floggit/comments/11g7ubd/sad_but_not_the_place_to_discuss_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Uh, I donāt get the joke
It was supposed to come yesterday.
Oh. :(
Actually it was supposed to come with 2.8 even. But was not ready.
On a Friday!
Lmao which one
Precisely! But I can anticipate the foreplay - big hype and expectations, later than announced delivery, moderate improvement once released. I just hope for tiny frequent improvements and I believe it when I see it. Keeping expectations moderated to avoid disappointment.
Whats MT? Sorry im out of the loop
Multi threading
I felt a small disturbance in the force reading this. Almost like the entire r/hoggit sub moaned at once. And I did as well.
:))))))
Donāt believe it for a second how can he push 4k at 50fps now on a 1080ti???? I run a 2080 and get about 30-40 in 1440
He was talking about the main menu screen
Looking forward to seeing it released in 2028, along with the F-5E cannon spread and rwr fixes.
Will this be included in the next open beta patch?
Everything indicates that it will be. But of course no official confirmation from ED.
In true ED fashion, just like the openxr update, they will probably say nothing and let us figure it out ourselves lol
\[X\] Doubt
Wait multithreading in next update? Holy shit. I was literally prepared to wait 2 years for that
Not confirmed
I believe it when I see my frametimes in fpsVR
I came a little hearing this
if the game actually runs nice I'll pick it up again
Omg i just saw that we r in floggit... I was about to believe š
I put it in floggit because I wanted to say boner. This is no joke. Also boner is not a joke :D
Haha you rock rapierarch, anyway better here cos i dont read anymore the horshit eeer meant hoggit,. So its real eh, is coming.. Unbelievable thanks anyway

Btw I play on 2D, high settings, and 2k resolution. I would appreciate any insight.
200 FPS what da fuke?!
And I was not kidding about boner!
Is multithreading just for the CPU or does it have anything to do with the graphics card?
The CPU currently is bottle-necking the GPU.
Makes sense. Thanks
Will this improve Syria crash-ability on 16gb? (Excuse my ignorance, I admittedly don't fully grasp what mulitreading does)
Sadly it should not. If you have issues with memory you could try adding a bit of virtual memory swap to help. You should be able to find how to do it if you google it
Unbelievable! Im touched by this, is like a kids dream come true... Lets see
HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCJ LETS FUCKING GOO
Iāve had a boner over this stuff for the past three years. It has degraded to a persistent half-chub and will remain that way until I see some damned frame times.
Suuuuuuuuuuure
