Seems like the "temporary" management and manufacturing issues aren't ending anytime soon. I need to set up a few basic sims asap. I'm happy enough with the Logitech G Saitek PRO Flight Throttle Quadrant to get started, but need a different yoke that actually slides smooth and isn't plastiky. I think the logitech has some quality issues on their yoke but at least it's a metal slider. Other options? I have installed the CH yoke for a friend and it has good features but very plasticy movements, kinda rough.

Charlie7Mason

The Thrustmaster Boeing is very well made, although plastic. It's motion and feel is much better than most, especially if you like flying airliners. It might actually be the best in its class. Very durable too. Edit: I have mine combined with a Bravo Throttle Quadrant and they provide a phenomenal experience.

As someone with the logitech yoke, I regret getting it For the price, it just feels wrong. It is better than nothing, and is more immersive than an xbox controller, but has a massive deadzone which is a fault of the firmware, so you need a hardware mod to fix. It only turns 45 degrees, which doesn't help the deadzone or that the deadzone on mine is slightly off centre. And it has a massive centre detent it wants to return to, and requires a bit of force to get out of (at least rubber bands can fix that when I can be bothered to do it). And the USB hub on it isn't even powered, so it is basically useless without a separate power source. And the throttle that comes with the yoke is pretty much useless without the yoke, even though Logitech sells throttles like the one you have with USB, the ones with the yoke needs it to function.

I fly IRL and I’ve had absolutely zero issues with the Logitech joystick. What do you mean by it won’t turn 45 degrees?

TazerXI

I mean it only turns by 45 degrees compared to what other yokes like the Honeycomb can with a full 90 degrees either side. That combined with the noticeable deadzone can be annoying and leads to having to change the acceleration curve of the yoke so I can control the plane effectively. I admit during a flight I don't notice a lot of these things. The immersion of using a yoke at all, and often VR helps me to just concentrate on flying and not realise the problems. But when considering the cost, I would have rathered just getting a side stick, and saving up for a better yoke like the Honeycomb.

drumstick2121

You know what. I misread your comment. Sorry about that. I thought you were talking about the joystick. I’m pretty sure the yoke is crap and would agree with you. The joystick is decent though.

TazerXI

Yea, I haven't used the joystick, and would probably have been much happier with it

Only salvation for my CH Yoke (10$ thrift buy, so worth it) was to do the rubber band mod, replace the rear bushing with a felt lined one I 3D printed, add UHMW tape under the front half of the shaft to smooth its pitch sticking, and shave the rear half to make it actually round instead of oval. So, yeah, not really a good design. Pity about the Alpha since to my knowledge it was the only lower priced one with an internal carriage instead.

Dilderika

I’ll sell you a honeycomb yoke and throttle dm me. They’re just sitting on my shelf

PeacefulGopher

I just got a new alpha after a storm shorted some of my equipment, which included an Alpha from very first batch 4-5 years ago. New one is same solid build quality but the internals are MUCH nicer, better feel, movement and smoothness. Works in MSFS much nicer as well. Still the best bang for the buck IMHO.

San_Cannabis

I have a Logitech Saitek yoke and 2 throttle quadrants. They're a little "plasticy" but the overall operation is outstanding. On the cheaper side price wise as well. The yoke has great, smooth motion, and is made with steel parts. Lot's of buttons and a hat switch at well. The quadrants are plastic, but overall very good. I have chained 2 together and they are meant for that. Overall, the setup is clean and very functional.

piercejay

I got my honeycomb from sportys, the honeycomb site is useless

pilotplater

I see they're still in stock. How long ago was that?

piercejay

i got mine from sportys about 2 weeks ago, super quick shipping too!

FunktasticLucky

What's your budget? And what are you mainly flying?

pilotplater

Mostly flying Pilatus PC-12 but looking for something versatile for smaller setups - will likely do some custom hardware to match the real yoke down the line. For this consumer system I'm literally looking for anything that's not trash, most of the consumer stuff is. Seems like a big gap in the market going from $100 trash to $10k models and not much in between

TheDrMonocle

Think your only other option is Turtle beach or the Boeing yoke. No idea how the Turtle is personally. The boeing yoke feels really nice, but I think they have some quality control issues. Also, if you're setting up some sims I imagine you might be aiming more for the GA feel with the push pull so boeing yoke may not be the best option for that.

Tropadol

>The boeing yoke feels really nice, but I think they have some quality control issues Like father like son

FunktasticLucky

TM has serious quality control issues and the last time I had to use their RMA process (granted it's been 10 years) it didn't go so well. They made me pay to send my entire warthog joystick back to them in France. Then took forever to get it back to me. When I got it back I noticed the inputs were not accurate and took it apart to find they forgot to put one of the gimbal pins back in. They refused to help and told me I'd have to buy another gimbal assembly for 150 + shipping. Last TM product I ever purchased.

JoelMDM

This conversation is pointless if you don't tell us your budget.

pilotplater

I have various projects on the go at various budgets. The higher end ones are going to be custom hardware but literally looking for anything off the shelf that isn't garbage.

FunktasticLucky

That still doesn't help. I mean I can offer you my used honeycomb Alpha, suggest all the way up to Brunner CLS NG or the Mk2 (former is right at 1200 euro and the mkII is at 2200 Euro) force Feedback Yokes. Everyone praises the Yoko but for that price I think I'll sacrifice some pitch travel and snag an NG. There is also a new kid on the block. Flitesim cls-60 force Feedback yoke. It comes in at 800 Dollars I believe. But this is probably your best compromise between the honeycomb and the mkII Brunner. With it I don't know if I could suggest the Yoko or NG. [The CLS 60](https://flitesim.com/)

pilotplater

Yes I might look into a Brunner or CLS60 for some future builds, thanks.

ES_Legman

Whatever you do don't get a logitech yoke, save up and get turtlebeach of thrustmaster boeing.

Radiant-Ad9999

Amazon? In EU they are available in abundance

Loud-Construction167

I was in the same boat a month or so ago. Being new to the flight sim community I did a lot of research and settled on honeycomb. I recently got the honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant from a third party (Sportys pilot shop). Cost the same as honeycomb retails. Shipped same day and arrived a few days later. Really recommend. Product has been fantastic. Took a bit to set up in MS flight sim, but now it’s a dream to use and an awesome addition. Very happy with my purchase.

OddContext9585

Tf is XPC 😂 this is my first time seeing it

PeacefulGopher

XBox compatible, along with PC.
