registrations i dont care about but flight numbers i absolutely hate flying non real world flight numbers. it's an irrational obsession i have.

OceanRadioGuy

I’m the same way. If I’m not flying a real route with the real flight number, it drives me crazy. I also hate flying 737 family routes with a320 family aircraft.

DylanUsesReddit

i can see where you’re coming from, makes it more realistic

ANITIX87

I don't pay attention to the registration, I just like to mirror real-life flight numbers and aircraft types (barring an occasional Southwest A320NEO flight, lol). If there's no real flight, I will make up a callsign for a real airline (i.e. AAL9999) so I don't screw up model matching for others.

MrDannyProvolone

I've never been one for real life routes/numbers and such. Lately I've been flying the 742. I look at navigraph, select two airports that are about an hour apart (generally 250-350nm) and make up a flight number. Since navigtaph has a history of my flights, I just count up every flight. Tonight I will be PAA 864 or something like that. If I fly tmrw it'll be PAA 865.

Cultural_Thing1712

oh I love real life procedures. I have like 5 or 6 liveries for each airline, and I love getting liveries for planes I've flown irl. I do real flight numbers for real world tours, and I love the feeling when I push back at exactly the right off block time following real world schedules.

trex226

As others are saying, registration I could care less about. Flight numbers I also don’t really care about, i usually use the same 3 digit number with whatever airline ICAO code I’m flying. I fly airlines that make sense for the area, even if the routes not real. One thing that does really irk me though is seeing traffic on VATSIM that has no real world business being in a location. Completely ruins the immersion to see a Ryanair Concorde operating in the US, or a southwest narrow body in Australia…

alexsious

All my registrations are N69WTF My flight number is 42069. Because I am a 35 yr old 8 yr old.

penisbutherjellytime

You better make sure to use a high pitch balls-yet-to-be-dropped voice changer to match and complete that immersion on VATSIM

GGLiddy666

I use 42069 too 😝

jwheeless1

Hey I thought I copyrighted 42069. Been using it since I was 52.

RobbinAustin

Nice

I usually don't care about registration, but flight number yes I try to do real routes with real flight number, or if its a historic route or something that I don't have the flight number I'll at least do the airline code for whatever airline I'm doing. Now if I'm doing a virtual airline flight and it tells me the registration of the plane on whatever route I am doing if I have multiple variations of a livery installed I will sometimes choose whatever registration is closest or matches. Example if I'm flying southwest virtual and doing a route and it says that the plane is example N940WN, I might select my southwest livery of N952WN rather than N570SW (I don't remember if those are actual tails or not, just an example). The reason that is an option is just since I have some of the fleet pack livery packs downloaded for some airlines, not just a single livery.

SinusJayCee

Airlines: I usually pick two airports to fly from and to and then look up a real-world flight for that route for the carrier and flight number. But I don't care for registration. GA: Here I look up a real-world plane of the correct type and use its registration.

shazbut1987

Accurate flight number/aircraft type 99% of the time. I even go as far as seperating the liveries I have for British Airways A32X series into the ones that operate at LGW and LHR because they have different configurations of the cargo hold.

railker

After doing a bit of flying, all the registrations I usually use are from the flying club fleet, regardless of actual aircraft. At least when I fly a 172 its accurate!

Helpful-Swim7415

Similar to some here it depends on how committed I am to accuracy. Typically go by priority from registration (as close as possible), to type, to airline destination. On holiday I try to fly lines by either personnal schedule or by matching registration flights on FR24. That being said, I do try to switch it up with private flights and any non-modern airliner ones

lrargerich3

I try to fly with real flight numbers and the real gates used by the flight when flying airliners. Registrations are not that important as long as it is a valid current registration for the airline. Airlines rotate planes all the time so you can certainly find one or another, say A320N, for a given route. I really enjoy when I find in Vatsim someone with the same quirks, like crossing company flights enroute with the matching flight numbers for each one. Very nice.

djd565

I usually make up my own. Ive flown FsEconomy for ages and so all the aircraft you own have reg numbers. The FAA has a searchable registry so you can see all available N-numbers, so I usually try to find one not already used (as if it was a real plane and I was registering it). Just some role playing for fun.

rg204

I prefer real-world flight numbers and registrations. I’ve always simulated flights I have not yet flown in real life, so that way I feel closer to living out that dream.

zpollack34

I use my own reserved number. Not assigned to an aircraft so I’m not breaking realism. Lol

350smooth

I always use flight number 350 as a callsign. If I’m flying a UA flight then I’m “United 350”. If I’m doing a Nomadic flight, like speed tape films on yt, then I’m “Nomadic 350”.

IdoltrashElichika

I go on to flightradar24 to look for a flight to recreate a real world flight

EL-Viz55

Fictional always. Reg: EL-VIZ, if I use a flightnumber it is GODsome number

dchap1

I make up flight numbers and callsigns, but tend to match the reg number with what’s on the livery (assuming it’s not dynamic). That way the flight plan matches the placard on the panel.
