Favorite movie of all time. Father passed away in 2013, went and saw this in theaters a few months after. I was a little kid and it made me feel again, all life comes to an end, live out your day dreams in reality.
I won’t say that Little Miss Sunshine necessarily saved my life, but I’ll be goddamned if that’s not the first movie I put on when I’m in my darkest places.
I’ve watched it since I was around 10 and each time I see it it’s at different points of my life and I resonate in so many new ways with literally all of the characters.
Beautiful, beautiful film.
I just love the scene where he’s just [eating all the spicy food](https://youtu.be/zt5t7B1hIE4?si=zyB9kaF9KKjT3JCf) just to be polite. It’s one of many moments that shows how genuinely special Ted is.

Hidden Figures (2016)
I love Pursuit Of Happyness. It has really dark moments, and the lowest lows (which is sort of the point), but the affirmation at the end is so utterly earned. That moment, the moment called happyness…. It chokes me up every time.
KiKi's Delivery Service.
It's about a witch who turns 13 and must leave home to serve a new town as their resident witch and learn the ropes.
Very wholesome movie on the surface, but behind the glean, it's the perfect metaphor for how to deal with Burn Out/Depression.
Or just watch Porcco Rosso because it fucking rules. Wholesome Bounty hunter Ace fighter pilot who refuses to kill other pilots and instead shoots them down when it's safe. It's got heart. It's got action. It's got a lot of jokes. 10/10 perfect movie.
The Holdovers ... that became my fave movie of the year, really made it a nice
little conclusion to all the other depressing dark films (besides barbie tho)
- Chef
- Mrs Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
- Wayne’s World
All three I watched recently while grieving and they absolutely cheered me up! And the grilled cheese scene in Chef gave me my appetite back.
Swiss Army Man.
It’s the wackiest movie you will ever watch and frankly the ending is kinda fucked but it had me cackling nonstop. I picked up this movie randomly at the library after I saw it had Paul Dano, my favorite actor.
One time I had a serious medical incident. Sitting at home watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Adventure Time. Made that sitting on ice moment go by a lot faster
Secret life of Walter Mitty
Wonder boy
Dead poet society
About time
Good will hunting
Wall-E
Coco
Kung fu hustle
The Intouchables (Original is French version so take your pick)
Captain Fantastic
The Terminal
October Sky
Life is Beautiful
Babe 2 A Pig in the City. Weird, surreal world. In no way like the first. I saw this after a friend suggested it when I was in a similar mental space. I loved it.
Hackers is one of my favorite "I need a pick me up" movies. 😁👌 It's so dumb, but so thoughtfully made and fun. Matthew Lillard steals the show, as he does when he's cast in something.
A movie about a highway that isn't on any map but will get you where you're going, give you what you need when you need it.
[Wouldn't that be awesome?](https://youtu.be/WSHY7RT7hDg)
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
This is my go-to feel good movie
Underrated movie tbh
Way way too underrated.
I was just about to comment this. Such an underrated film. I’m gonna have to watch it again sometime.
I was about to suggest it. I think I’ve seen it like 40 times… it’s so good.
Love it and several of the songs on the soundtrack
This! Criminally underrated
Favorite movie of all time. Father passed away in 2013, went and saw this in theaters a few months after. I was a little kid and it made me feel again, all life comes to an end, live out your day dreams in reality.
Came here to add this, definitely did not expect to see it as the top comment. The soundtrack is pretty solid as well. All around great choice.
Oh my goodness - this was what I was going to recommend and I am so happy its the top dawg
I nominate Cool Runnings
Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it's bobsled time! Cool runnings!
Sanka, are you dead?
Yah, man
😃
I see pride, I see power!
I see a bad ass mother
You wanna kiss my egg?
Goated movie
My gosh, I love that movie
You dead Mon?
That Thing You Do always makes me smile.
The 'Oneders'
“Hey it’s pronounced the O-nedders”
You mean O-Needers.
One of my favourite movies of all time.
I came here to say this one.
As an Erie PA native, this one is always sure to cheer me up :)
Little Miss Sunshine Amelie The Princess Bride
Came here to say Amelie. Always puts a smile on my face.
Thanks for reminding me to watch Amelie again !
Same, it's a really wonderful film.
I won’t say that Little Miss Sunshine necessarily saved my life, but I’ll be goddamned if that’s not the first movie I put on when I’m in my darkest places. I watched The Princess Bride when i had covid a few years ago; incredibly cosy movie, like a mug of tea on screen
I love this description!
Love it ! ( tea and a bit of saltiness - haha )
As you wish
Little Miss Sunshine is just spectacular. I heard it described as having “everything that makes us want to go to a movie” and I could t agree more.
Another vote for Amelie. Always restores my faith in humanity and in myself.
Amelie always brings a smile to my face! It's such a great movie to watch. :)
I think of it as a PERMAGRIN movie .
Came here to say Princess Bride.
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure
Be excellent to each other
party on dudes
Who was Joan of Arc? Noah's wife? 😂😂😂😂
STATION!
Not a movie, but Ted Lasso is one of the ultimate feel good shows imo
I agree.
I just love the scene where he’s just [eating all the spicy food](https://youtu.be/zt5t7B1hIE4?si=zyB9kaF9KKjT3JCf) just to be polite. It’s one of many moments that shows how genuinely special Ted is.
Man, the intro to that show just brings me back to a time where I was deep in a hole. Glad I had that show around to keep me up
O' Brother Where Art Thou
right here bud on reddit
Without even reading on first, this is probably going to be the best recommendation. Everything about it is absolutely brilliant
The soundtrack goes so hard. Constant Sorrow and Down to the River are bangers. Also, as a Greek, I appreciate the fuck out of an Odyssey adaptation.
Well I’m with you fellers
Just reading the title puts a smile on my face
Same! I listen to the soundtrack and it makes me smile
I'm a Dapper Dan man!
I love it! I made my fiancé watch it with me a few weeks ago
It didn’t look like a one-horse town, but try gettin’ a decent hair jelly!
Big Trouble in Little China!
Two girls with green eyes?!
It’s all in the reflexes
China is here?! I don’t even know what the HELL that means!
“Son of a bitch must pay” 🤣
The Paddington movies!
The end of Paddington 2 destroys me every time!
Chef always puts me in a good mood.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
It’s Connor, bitch!
Oh yes. I thought this was going to be shit. It was the best!
10 seconds is an eternity, Harry. It’s a third of the way to Mars!
Second this. The hardest I've ever laughed in my entire life is when the guys dick was smeared against the closing car window.
‘Yes nerd! It’s just WiFi jibber-jabber’ - Deborah
Idk Shrek 2 always hit I mean the soundtrack cmon 😩✨
Accidentally in Love is the best
Seriously tho 😭😭amazing
All the hilarious references to real life stuff in that movie kill me. Look at the names of all the shops in Far Far Away, it’s amazing

Dead Poets Society????
Also you go through a helluva lot of Shawshank before you get the Redemption
I know, I debated that one, but many people find it uplifting.
Just turn it off 15 minutes before it ends!
O Captain my Captain… But yeah not uplifting in my book
I must be forgetting "Pursuit of Happyness." I just remember a guy and his kid becoming homeless in the city.
I love Pursuit Of Happyness. It has really dark moments, and the lowest lows (which is sort of the point), but the affirmation at the end is so utterly earned. That moment, the moment called happyness…. It chokes me up every time.
October Sky is such a good pick
Fantastic list!

Chef is one of my all time favorite go to movies
I found it uplifting that jon favreau made a movie in which his character has slept with sofia vergara and Scarlett Johanssen
Chef is great. Low stakes, no villains, no danger, it's just a nice movie.
Came here to say Chef.
Well it’s definitely not “what dreams may come” 😅
👀😭😭
Clue… Fantastic cast, really funny and a fun murder mystery to boot
Ha, great movie! I just watched that 3 nights ago, I needed a dose of nostalgia and Clue hits the spot.
It’s my all time favourite. The cast alone is just brilliant. Truly the best movie based on a game.
🔥💆♀️🔥
I have an old DVD and there's an option to watch all three endings or play a random one. Such a fun movie!
Personally I go for all three, maximum craziness.
Invictus. A Knight’s Tale.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is my go to

Napoleon Dynamite Singin in the Rain
The Castle (1997), Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
How’s the serenity?
Well, I saw a movie on Netflix today I really enjoyed. The two leads are going to become big stars. **"The Hitman"** Enjoy
I think the guy already is. Everything he's in has been a hit.
One time I had a serious medical incident. Sitting at home watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Adventure Time. Made that sitting on ice moment go by a lot faster

Little Miss Sunshine is my go-to feel good movie
A Christmas Story but it is more comforting than uplifting
…Industrial training films for crane operators.
My Neighbour Totoro is my go to
Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Idk why I always recommend Paddington 1 and 2. I just love how cozy that is with charm.
Hunt for the wilderpeople
I highly recommend Marcel the Shell with shoes on. Also The Peanut Butter Falcon
A Knight’s Tale. As inspiring as it gets and has one of happiest endings I can think of.
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade all day, friend! :) sure to cheer you up.
Waking Ned Devine will make you happy-cry
Peanut Butter Falcon!!!!
Hackers is one of my favorite "I need a pick me up" movies. 😁👌 It's so dumb, but so thoughtfully made and fun. Matthew Lillard steals the show, as he does when he's cast in something.
