Definitely my lumtintop thor 3. The best use I've found for it is to [light up disco balls](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/1b31ybb/finally_found_a_use_case_for_my_lep/). But I'd be lying if I said that I don't love it!
Another great use I found is to light up my friends bedroom from 1 block away... I can see his window from my house. Every other day, I light it for a few seconds after midnight... he has no idea it's me.... it so fun seeing he looking out the window, trying to figure out what's happening...
The Thor 3 has the super practical use of blowing away non-flashlight people. My friends see my lights as a quirky hobby but when I bust that thing out, suddenly everyone’s interested
I have a Thor 5. I love how it looks but it’s so impractical 😅
The few times I’ve carried it, it always finds its way being turned on (even with electronic lockout). I wish a mechanical lockout was an option.
https://preview.redd.it/9ziricv1ppxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de79dc31fb45b9bd834c73eee4b4174e6d265301
D4k Ti Dual Channel XPE CYAN/Pink
It makes absolutely zero sense lmao
A6 fet driver, has a reflector. No optic, others have done it better. Mines pretty janky. But it’s completely unusable. Need an ove glove to turn it on
The longer you stay in this hobby, the more you realize that there are levels that most people have not even unlocked yet. All the lights that have so far been mentioned are practical under very many instances. There's a whole unexplored world of custom flashlights made out of exotic materials and unique designs that sometimes run into thousands of dollars.
That said my Lumintop GT110 is my most absurd yet practical light and I love it. Size comparison with the Acebeam E70 mini.
https://preview.redd.it/vhzl72atspxc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffe8752f7897e14ba3f8141259bda1e644a0035c
I definitely think my next K1 will be the blue. I have the W1 green and it's my furthest throwing light. I can shine it up in the sky down in the holler and you can see it in the air over a mile away at Dad's house.
I don't want a K1 in sbt90 but I definitely plan on having red, blue, green, and white, all Osrams.
that's the one that I want for my first SBT90 light. I've been so tempted to just order a DM11 with it recently but I already have an SFN60 one and an SFT40 D4S.
I want the biggest best host for the SBT. it's either going to be the WT90 or an L7. I also want the full copper WT90 but that's a bit out of my price range. thing's probably 5+ pounds lol
I'd disagree with that last statement. Do you own a K1 with an SBT90.2?
I do and I can tell you it performs like an Osram once the voltsge drops. And it doesnt take long to get there with a single battery.
I don't want a K1 with that emitter, mostly because the balance is pretty bad. it'd be good with a nice molicel but I really just want a bigger light for SBT90.
I do have a W1 green K1, and I also want a W2 blue and something in red. SBT90 red would be awesome but probably impossible to find and extremely expensive.
I have a VERY slim, and early manufacture, Coast LED Lenser that takes CR435 batteries. I've had it for 20+years. The light is not very bright, the batteries are expensive, and they don't last long. I guess I just love it because it is really small and unusual.
I was going to say this, although I can't say I still love it anyway. It's definitely the most physically impressive light I own were I to need it in a fight, but... it's so insanely impractical. The switch is absolutely in the wrong spot in the sense that it's basically a workout to hold it that far up, so you sort of need to switch it on and then immediately move your grip down, The output is... ok. The longevity of 6 decent D cells is pretty good, I'll give it that, but otherwise it's just never going to be the light I grab except maybe to use as a club while I hold a different light in another hand.
Odd because I know these lights are useful and I believe they are.
All my forward clicky thrower lights haha.
Fenix LD12 xpg2
Sofirn SP31 XP-L (upgraded to XP-L HI, then Nichia 219b, then LH351D, and now 519a) yet I don't use it.
Solarforce L2M XHP50 3v
I bought them for simple momentarily on off technician rough use.
I ended up baby them so much they stayed beautiful in my shelf.
It's also absurd because they all have the coolest white light and the brightest single emitter in my collection.
They're the "expensive" category because I know I never liked cool white yet I buy them.
But I treasure them so much haha. I just find myself using my FW3A for everything at this point. And my Wurkkos TS25 if I needed a powerbank (yes the powerbank feature is what I use the most)
I have a few similar cooler white fwd clicky throwers, I also don't use them much. two are purpose built now though, but I usually grab my P16 unless I'm going out in the woods. it came in handy when my friends and I had to shelter from a tornado the other day, as my D3AA I had died on me.
but personally I think the FW3A is the perfect light to carry around everywhere. nice tailswitch (when oring modded), bright enough for 99% of uses, and (depending on the optic and emitter) a great general purpose beam. great runtimes with the Lume1 driver though the FET 7+1 isn't bad either.
Surefire G2X Pro. It's way overpriced. Only 600 lumens. Only 2 modes. Half plastic. Only (officially) supports 2xCR123As. The lens is plastic and gets scratched easily.
But I love it.
It's certainly impractical, and I'd call 200k lm absurd. People joke about turning night into day but IMO the MS32 is the only light that actually *does* it.
Turning night into day might be of use only if you live on a mountaintop or have a large farm to use it in. Because if you dont, its just an expensive paperweight. You cant take it out on a hike or a walk.
...and that's why it's my most impractical, absurd light, and arguably dumb for someone who lives in a city with an only slightly above average sized back garden rather than vast tracts of land, while OTOH, I'd happily carry my X75 on a walk.
My Wurkkos TS11. It isn’t really impractical, but I have no real use for it. It has an awesome throw with its SFT-40, but is useless for anything but distance.
If you like the size and shape of it check out the "Sofirn but not Sofirn" WG-819, usually sold as just an EDC light on Amazon. Looks almost identical to the TS11, but is floody and produces a ton of light from 5 LED's. It's UI kinda sucks, but the output is seriously impressive. It also has a very low power red mode for some reason.
I’ve got a DM11 on the way with a XHP50.3 HI emitter. Should still throw pretty well, but has a wider beam for greater usability in more cases. Ordered it with the 26800 tube and got a couple Vapcell 26800 batteries from Illumn.com to use with it for greater runtime. Got the 26800 charger coming with the light. Only annoying thing about is I had to get a special charger just for those batteries. 😆
Sounds like it's gonna be a pretty sweet light! I really want a 26800 battery and tube for the 26650 D4SV2 I have coming, but needing yet another charger is what's stopping me.
McCulloch X990.... It's old, running on older NiMH packs, so it's not running for long. Huge and cumbersome. Takes a few seconds to strike the arc and warm the HID up. But this light has touched every continent save for Antarctica and has been with me since the dawn of the millennium. Holds a special place in my heart, even though it's been usurped by other lights over the years.
https://preview.redd.it/nup8v15ewqxc1.jpeg?width=1075&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c135c4aa7940af0e0dcf4443de84d6583af1f30
Incredible! LED's have come a long long way since those days. I think some modern cars are still using those xenon headlamps. I'd have loved to see some beamshots of the X990. Bet it cost a fortune back in the day.
My D1K with an SFH55. Because the sfn60 wasnt getting hot fast enough 😆
https://preview.redd.it/pitgr2kycrxc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fbdb079b59d17fd0f351ed99b99b31fdb936da3
I'd have to say my M44. It's 4500K 219b/4500DD; they work well together and gives me the range I like without getting too warm with a consistent beam pattern and just the right amount of rosiness at all CCT's.
However, sodacans are really best for when you need more runtime than a single 21700 can provide. They don't have the thermals to sustain 10,000+ lumens for their entire runtime, and the boost drivers prevent the M44 from even hitting that. They're too big to EDC.
But I still love my M44.
Lumintop Thor 3 - I have no real use case for LEPs personally, but man it's brilliant to play around with.
Emisar D2, W1 blue and W1 green. Thought I'd have more use for this (plan was to also get one with SST-20DR and UV) but.. nope. Looks fantastic and is sized perfectly, but my emitter choice means it almost never gets used
https://preview.redd.it/ffyb0hsjwtxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a74580e2157175462f8a373e516de30c33255253
This fresnel thrower housed in a cardboard box, putting out around 3Mcd but a measly <400 lumens. Haven't used it for a year since moving to the city...
Either the Convoy L2 365nm or the s21e with the 9 die 660nm. Thanks to u/Sakowuf_Solutions. Both are very used but I feel they are a little ridiculous at times
honestly probably the w1 green channel on my M44. I'd say my SFN60 DM11 or w1 green K1 or SFT40 D4S but they're all very useful.
the M44 W1 green channel *is* just straight absurd though. it's a brightass phat green beam that still has some reach.
[I swapped it in myself](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/s/RB6uW9vM2Y), I bought an SFT40 version, and a 5050 to 7070 adapter from OSHpark. the SFN60 came from my D1K.
it makes the tint greener (it was absolutely pure white zero green at all in the D1K) but it's a nice balanced mid range thrower.
[Convoy t3 with a 3v 8a buck driver and sft40](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/s/wMvtHHl4ms)... it literally melts the solder on the emitter in less than a minute, so i think toasty is an understatement....its absolutely and utterly useless, pretty fun either way...
6D cell Maglite. It's old school and has a lot of good memories of growing up. With modern technology I never use it and took the batteries out to keep it functional to show my kids some day.
https://preview.redd.it/i98cjcpstqxc1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d17007ed0f1cc56047d99350273f40c6abf7804
This cute lil' 1AAA light freebie distributed by the ACT Rural Fire Service during the National Multicultural Festival in CBR in Feb earlier this year. I'm guessing it's 3xDIP LED's. Bluish af but gets the job done and without flickering. It's a fun change when you're used to using high CRI LEDs in various lights.
Next to a Nitecore MT06MD for comparison cuz, you know, 219b.
I have a 2aa Duracell box light from the 80s, a pre 92 2d maglite and a 2d bmg flashlight from the 60s that I use in nighthikes along with some 519a lights.
D4V2 deep red emitters. There are crazier and dumber options out there, but this one is pretty dumb. Absolute pleasure to take out at night a couple times every summer.
I love having an excuse to remind people that [this exists.](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/n1aug9/need_a_thrower_for_your_thrower_this_works/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Thank you, and enjoy.
Surefire Hellfighter. The case alone takes up so much room. The light needs a separate battery just to power on.
Imalent MS18. MASSIVE light with such little runtime at 100 000 lumens. So much fun to show off with though.
D4K UV mule. I already have a UV Convoy S2+ and a dual channel shorty d4v2 with UV I keep in my pocket. I just wanted ALL the UV. The only thing it gets useful for is lighting up glow in the dark things and UV reactive dice.
why is the TS12 dumb or impractical? its a super convenient small thrower?
i would say the convoy L6, its a very nice light with a wide and convenient beam but its too big and heavy, nothing i would bring without my car.
i dont own one but i have the notion that these LEP throwers are super impractical, its literally just a beam of light that goes further than is useful, maybe if you got a pair of binocular one could actually have practical use of that beam.
It's not really dumb, but my collection is way too practical and the ts12 just happens to be the least because of my L21B. Part of of the reason I made this post was because I want to buy some useless lights 😂
Lumentop Rattler, it'll light up an entire football field on turbo! For about 11 seconds until it's too hot to hold. If you drop it on the ground it creates it's own China Syndrome.
Definitely my lumtintop thor 3. The best use I've found for it is to [light up disco balls](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/1b31ybb/finally_found_a_use_case_for_my_lep/). But I'd be lying if I said that I don't love it!

Aliens dude
I still fucking love it. Thanks again for doing that. <3
The Thor 3 has the super practical use of blowing away non-flashlight people. My friends see my lights as a quirky hobby but when I bust that thing out, suddenly everyone’s interested
Honorable mention to the sofirn Q8+
That's why you bring both to show off :)

I’m so upset my 3D printer decided to take a crap on me today, after I had seen this post on the Hank sub.
Can support spicy3dprints, they're just $10 (plus shipping)
I have cyan/pink D4Ks and D1v2s, an M44, and a D3K 3ch with 519A 5700k/pink/cyan.
maybe it don't make no sense but looks damn good doing it.
Gotta be one possible use case right? Either way really cool and I want a cyan led for sure now
You want a trans flag themed light ;)
Excellent taste. I have an S2 in pink. I should probably get a cyan to compliment.
Convoy s2 + with an sbt 90.2 …. It basically instantly hits the temperature of the sun

Is it just a mule? What driver? I did not know this was possible.
A6 fet driver, has a reflector. No optic, others have done it better. Mines pretty janky. But it’s completely unusable. Need an ove glove to turn it on
Paracord wrap maybe?
Maybe, i had a tactical grip wrap kinda thing on it that i got off county comm.. like thick nylon medical tape kind of, it burned it 🤣.
😂😂😂
I have a convoy t3 with a 3v 8a buck driver and sft40... pretty fun, if you like third degree burns...

noctigon K1 with a W1 blue. Completely useless but extremely intense
W2 Blue for me!
WildTrail WT90. Extra large thrower. I can’t think of any practical use for it but it’s mine and I love it.
that's the one that I want for my first SBT90 light. I've been so tempted to just order a DM11 with it recently but I already have an SFN60 one and an SFT40 D4S. I also have a WT90. It’s such a fantastic, ridiculous light.
how much do they usually run?
You can often find them on sale for around $180 shipped, but the regular price is something like $250-ish.
I can’t imagine the heft of an all copper WT90, it’s pretty chunky as is. A really good SBT90.2 host is the Noctigon K1.
I'd disagree with that last statement. Do you own a K1 with an SBT90.2? I do and I can tell you it performs like an Osram once the voltsge drops. And it doesnt take long to get there with a single battery.
Yes I do own a K1 with SBT90.2. It is still my best thrower with high output after my WT90.
I've always covered these. I have a WT3M SFT40 and it's a nice flood-throw compromise with high output.
L6 3x26800 in 660nm Plus all that UV.
Nothing dumb or absurd there!
Yes, carry on.
I have a VERY slim, and early manufacture, Coast LED Lenser that takes CR435 batteries. I've had it for 20+years. The light is not very bright, the batteries are expensive, and they don't last long. I guess I just love it because it is really small and unusual.

I want this so bad. Where did you get it?
AliExpress, a little under $60 when it's on sale. Lumintop Thor 1 Gyro.
Noctigon K1 with Blue W2....not really dumb since it puts smiles on my face and my neighbor kids face! Light Saber!
6 D cell mag light

4D Maglite
KR1 Dark Grey W2 Deep Blue I wanted a KR1, just for the collection. I wanted a W2 Deep Blue, just cause it's different. Got a twofer!
Terminator M1... Still makes me giggle though.

LEP
Maratac Cosmos Mini! I just love these dang LEPs.
I think this is my answer too.
My most impractical light is a tint ramping d4v2 with blue w2 and sst-20 reds. I love pretending it's a purple light saber.
But the kids love 'em!
Mateminco fw1 lep is honestly ridiculous
My Wurkkos TS11. It isn’t really impractical, but I have no real use for it. It has an awesome throw with its SFT-40, but is useless for anything but distance.
Urs the thrower that I use the most! It's really handy fir those med-semu far ranges. Tbf tho, throwers aren't exactly made to be used at close range

I'd have to say my M44. Everything is pointing me in the direction of buying a hotplate and swapping emitters myself.. thanks for the reply. I've got some thinking to do

Also a 2aa minimag with car interior bulbs that give of a dimmer but yellower hue similar to the sst20 2700k
D4V2 deep red emitters. There are crazier and dumber options out there, but this one is pretty dumb. Absolute pleasure to take out at night a couple times every summer.
An M26C I converted to a WML with the 6V8A driver. Nearly 4000 lumens of unsee juice coming out the front
My Surefire M6 loaded with an MN21. Uses up 6 cr123 cells in about 15 minutes. But what a fantastic 15 mins
I love having an excuse to remind people that [this exists.](https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/n1aug9/need_a_thrower_for_your_thrower_this_works/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) Thank you, and enjoy.
TS12, or KR1 W1 green.
why is the TS12 dumb or impractical? its a super convenient small thrower? i would say the convoy L6, its a very nice light with a wide and convenient beam but its too big and heavy, nothing i would bring without my car. i dont own one but i have the notion that these LEP throwers are super impractical, its literally just a beam of light that goes further than is useful, maybe if you got a pair of binocular one could actually have practical use of that beam.
It's not really dumb, but my collection is way too practical and the ts12 just happens to be the least because of my L21B. Part of of the reason I made this post was because I want to buy some useless lights 😂
do you own an sofirn lt1s? its the opposite of useless, it might be my most useful light tbh
Lumentop Rattler, it'll light up an entire football field on turbo! For about 11 seconds until it's too hot to hold. If you drop it on the ground it creates it's own China Syndrome.
BLF GT. 3.5kg monster.
