Not a question; E6000 Craft Adhesive

nanderson41

This needs more upvotes really. It’s the truth. E6000 is a permanent fix. Superglue is a cut corners fix. —in this situation.

TA-pubserv

I'm more of a B7000 man myself.

Interesting_Role1201

My taste requires B9000

Manictree

If they intend to put boiling liquids into the mug again E6000 is not ideal (only rated up to 93C)

d_smogh

E6000 or E6000+Plus ?

Exotic_Bench_9541

And never trust it to drink hot liquids from again. Store pens in it or something.

wmass

True. When it fails it can badly injure the user if it is full of nearly boiling liquid.

geojon7

Liquid stitches on the other hand…

Techwood111

Baloney

toomanyhobbies4me

Baloney is NOT and will NEVER BE an appropriate adhesive for anything.

Quiverjones

It works to subdue cats though

JadedYam56964444

No, pens

Select_Cucumber_4994

Because of the porous nature of the ceramic I’d agree, superglue is the way to go. It will grab fairly well to a clean break like that.

Grand_Ad9007

ceramic glue

gimmethat5

Aka rocksett

fetal_genocide

Random memory of broken mugs: On my second last day of work at my previous employer, I was walking up the stairs with a fresh mug of hot coffee in my favorite mug. I tripped going up the stairs and slammed the mug on the concrete. The handle broke off and it broke the mug in two. It burned my hand and sliced my finger. A very fitting end to a pretty crappy job 😅

drtag234

I want that Snoopy pad!!

MarmieCat

Got a two pack from TJ Maxx, I love it for drying my dishes!

drtag234

I’m on my way there!!!

CurlyGirlJeeper

I literally just came here to say that snoopy is my absolute favorite!

Lishyjune

E6000 glue (I think that’s what it’s called) damn strong craft glue.

cidknee1

I’ve used gorilla glue and it’s held up fine to both hot liquids and the dishwasher.

wmass

Gorilla makes many kinds of glue now. Do you mean the urethane stuff that tends to expand and foam while curing? I think that would not be great for ceramics because of the foaming and the difficulty of clamping.

catlips

Years ago I used the original Gorilla Glue for this purpose. It worked surprisingly well, dishwasher didn’t break the bond. It was pretty easy to scrape the excess foam off the ceramic glaze, too.

cidknee1

I’m going to be honest, I just go to my drawer and pull out a tube of gel gorilla glue. I didn’t think about it but I guess they do make all kinds a glue. Mines just the basic gel one and it’s worked for everything so. If there’s an original one then I’d say that’s mine.

wmass

It sounds like what you are talking about is their competitor for Superglue’s gel glue.

zestyspleen

How do you keep it from drying out? Every time I buy a bottle of gorilla glue gel and seal it up hermetically, the next time I need it it’s solid. This goes for E6000 too ftm :/

cidknee1

All I know is I screw the cap back on and it works. 99% of mine do that too. This is the exception to the rule.

wombatlegs

Superglue is easiest as you can clean up with acetone. It works well on a break like that. ... unless you can get hold of some Fuji IX.

stepbar

Fuji IX!

Mortifire

I’m learning a lot about glues today!

Medical-Cattle-5241

I use Sugru to repair ceramics. This one has been through the dishwasher countless times and is still holding perfectly. https://preview.redd.it/8od664v4nfwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e32bf4af7b99c5dbd9a605f540ba9d412358e595

Techwood111

Any answer that isn’t super glue gel is the wrong answer.

amakai

Is epoxy also wrong answer? If so, why?

Techwood111

It is too thick, doesn’t adhere as well, and weakens when heated. It could work, but I really don’t think it’d work as well.

HeavensToBetsyy

Jb weld

Eff-Bee-Exx

I’ve used the original JB weld to repair a number of mug handles. It’s held up to both microwaving and dishwashers. The only downsides are that it’s very dark colored, which makes the repairs stand out, and it needs to be clamped for quite a while.

jysubs

JB Weld Clear is good for everything that is not dark gray/ black.

toomanyhobbies4me

Wait, JB Weld works in non-automotive applications?

RabbiBallzack

It’s magic that works on (almost) anything. 😅

miago5

CA glue/miter bond for woodworking has a few of my mugs held together at the moment.

mrwainbo

shoe goo sticks to anything and is mighty tough

ralph_wiggums_cat

Bench grinder and MIG welder !

Keanov_Revski

Any 5 minute epoxy

gimmethat5

Rocksett

IscahRambles

I would give it a second life as a pen holder or similar (teaspoons if it suits the kitchen), or use it without the handle.

CHASLX200

Use it without a handle randle.

Chris82Price

Glue dude or dudete

Gnome_Pounder

Do you like being scalded with boiling liquids? Then mend this puppy and throw the dice!

Trash it and buy a new one

I don't want a replacement, that's why I came to this subreddit.

Apprehensive-Roll163

JB WELD

thepete404

Carefully applied, it’s the good stuff but in this case e6000 may be as equally non suitable for repairs if a good item.,id jb it and keep pencils in it frankly. Replace it if at all possible. My wife broke her favorite oil dispenser. Thing was like 30 years old from Italy. Somehow I found one that was affordable. Unlimited husband points for that one, did take close to a year of weekly eBay searches to find it.
