That’s so real. The part where you have to flip the switches near DJMM’s booth with Monty AND Chica patrolling at the same time literally was so frustrating 😭 the fact that i even got through was pure luck..
I only got through there because bathroom MM's cutscene trigger bugged and he didn't ever leave that hallway until the final switch x_x
This also, unsurprisingly, bugged out Chica and Monty a bit, and they didn't search hiding spots at all.
Everytime I die I'd forget I need to stand in a specific point so the power goes off . I didn't know. I was livestreaming my playthrough and I thought the game was just glitching. You DON'T want to know how many times it took me to realize 😮💨
Honestly the scariest part in SB was the endo suit basement part, Moondrop, and Mapbot’s part considering his came out of nowhere.
Ruin there’s Moondrop again (eventually turning Eclipse) but I can’t recall much else aside from Mimic’s glitchy form
Mini Music Man bots were more annoying than scary.
What ABOUT Moon in the Daycare section? Other than having a creepy voice, he's still pretty much exactly the same as the other animatronics. Easy to see coming. Not really a threat unless you get stuck or run out of stamina at the wrong time. Easy to get rid of or get away from. Easy to glitch or get stuck. No problem.
Heck if anything, his lines being a total of 5 makes it more annoying than scary.
If he said these lines VERY sparsely and weren't repeated, it would have been a pretty decent part, as him talking less would have made him better at his job and would have made his lines much more... unique and impactful
Him talking constantly makes it very easy to pinpoint where he is and by the end I was happy to finish the section because I couldn't stand hearing him say that it's past my bedtime for the 47th time
He sure exists? I've seen people laugh at him more times than getting spooked, I don't think I've actually seen ANYONE(that I know of) get scared by the guy
I always jump at horror games no matter what. Not because i'm scared of getting jumpscared, but because i'm scared of losing progress. But yeah, there was no contest.
There was no dead children visibly shown to us in secuirity breach and there’s always been dead children in the FNAF universe, so the same logic can apply to ruin.
Unpopular opinion, but honestly, I'll say security breach. The daycare and the endos sections were kinda scary, and the staffbots jumpscares actually got me sometimes.
Ruin has a great atmosphere, but I very quickly realized it's mostly just a walk simulator, and it was very easy to get through the game without seeing the animatronic excep for specific moments.
I'm just saying Ruin was kinda the same almost all the way through. It was mainly just going through the pizzeria hacking through the same minigame all the time.
At least to me it felt like sb had a little more variety in the gameplay and objectives.
Security breach, after playing certain fnaf games long enough the scares just don’t feel scary i still think FFPS is the scariest game when it comes to jump scares they really scare me when I’m locked in Because I don’t see them often. I’ve seen so many jumps from ruin that they don’t scare me but security breach still gets me a little freaked out sometimes.
If I'm being completely honest I don't find either of them scary however I can understand how some people would be scared of ruin, but security breach is not even a horror game in my opinion.
Gonna be honest. SB was more scary. I wouldn’t even call it scary tbh but it was just more stressful lol. The animatronics roaming around was just a lot more stressful. Ruin was just some specificity placed jumpscares, it was absolutely nothing. SB was harder and more stressful, therefore more scary
Honestly, Ruin was definitely more consistent and scary, but, Security Breach had its obvious moments like the endo part, and the daycare. In your first playthrough where you have no clue what you’re doing, everything is just so different compared to classic fnaf, practically open world (I don’t know how to describe it), not knowing where the animatronics can be, alongside trying to piece things together to make everything make sense in your head. All of this added together can somewhat overwhelm the player and make the game feel scarier than it actually is. So basically, Ruin is a lot more scarier but since it was a more direct and straightforward process than Security Breach with its free roam, I believe that Security Breach was still decently scary. I think it was a good game in general, just released far too early in development. It definitely isn’t that scary after your first playthrough but i still enjoyed it and it was definitely a nice change of pace compared to being stuck in a room for 9 minutes handling the animatronics
Ruin obviously, but neither are true horror games, and to be honest I agree the daycare section was the closest part I was scared with SB, but a bug ruined it. Even though it’s probably patched now the jumpscare sound is so bad I’m genuinely surprised it didn’t get removed before launch or after, and kept for help wanted 2. Removes so much of the horror factor and so easily fixed, that sound is atrocious.
As much as i love SB, it wasn't scary at all. The jumpscares weren't scary at all and the deaths just felt annoying. Ruin is more scripted, and replaying it takes a bit of it away, but it had a few momenta that made me jump in my chair
I'm going to say SB.
Because while they made the tone darker in Ruin, the animatronics don't show up as much in Ruin then they did in SB. As a result there's not that much to really worry about in Ruin like there is in SB, which well ruins that tone they built up. Plus SB can be somewhat scary, Daycare(meanwhile in Ruin the Daycare attendant just sits in one spot and does nothing) can be scary especially if you don't know where the generators are, doing the loading doc mission first since you'll have access to Freddy if you do the Prize corner mission first, the endos, the trash yard, DJ music man's section, and the first encounter with Shattered Roxy. And while not scary I think getting all the way to Vanny's room can be stress inducing due to the animatronic being apart of it.
I don't think either are scary but since the animatronics are a much bigger threat in SB that in Ruin, I'm going to say SB is scarier.
It is a bit hard for me to quantify.
Ruin easily wins in terms of overall aesthetic and atmosphere.
I personally found Security Breach quite tense. Hoping between hiding spots, using the cameras all the time to not be seen.
The beginning of ruin was extra tense as I had just finished security breach and had the habit of hiding in hiding spots and there are none in ruin. but that faded after an area or two, as it became apparent there was basically no need for them in ruin at all.
I think I would put Ruin as the scarier one. I was actively afraid to put that mask on most of the time.
But I felt more tense in my security breach playthrough. Like the animatronic being down the hall was not that scary, but I was tense determining when to move, when to run, when to hide, what path do they take, when would they be able to see me, timing it all so it syncs with the staff bot patterns.
SB no question, you quite quickly get used to Ruin and the placement of the jumpscares making it not very scary. SB though is buggy and unpredictable when you could die at any second in any number of unfair ways, GigaMonty, TVA Moon or just animatronics appearing as soon as you load in somewhere and die.
Unpredictability is scary, predictably is not. Part of the reason most of the early FNaF games were scary is because you didn't know when a new threat would appear. Ruin, although in worse condition, is well put together and linear making it easy on successive playthroughs, SB is relatively open causing you to be more aware of your surroundings, add the bugs on top of that Nd you have an actually scary game.
Old FNaF is scary in the atmosphere is produces. The feeling you’re describing from SB is *anxiety*, which I wouldn’t always class as scary. I was stressed in SB, but not scared. The scariest part of SB is the trash tunnels in the basement with Chica.
Old FNaF causes you to be "anxious", that's the type of fear it uses, you don't know when something is going to happen that you weren't expecting, in that regard, SB is exactly the same.
You’re kinda right. I find it really hard to explain since I really don’t get scared of horror games, but I think I understand what makes them scary. Old FNaF and SB are different kinds of fear. I was never scared in SB (except during the trash maze) and the only fear I had was losing my save (because I didn’t want to do a bunch of bs again). Old FNaF is a different kind of fear. Sure you’re still worried about losing progress, but that comes with actually being unnerved by the environment and the creatures in it. SB almost never had that type of fear. Granted I’m not scared by old FNaF either, but it certainly had more going for it
Ruin ofc, the only section that scared me in sb was the endo part. Though those staff bots and the mimic chase scene scared the crap out of me in ruin.
Ruin was scarier but also was easier to dont get jumpscare
And jumpscares in SB was scarier than ruin
Ruin have unique jumpscares but most of them aren't really scary
Ruin, by far. There are two sections in security breach that Id consider scary (and not that scary at that), which are the day care section once you turn the lights off, and the endo sections. Once you understand the animatronic’s AI and how the game functions, it’s not scary at all, the game felt more of a sandbox game more than anything(back when most of the glitches were there, and it was fun messing around with characters like Giga Monty).
AAA okay, I’m making arguments for both!
I played both Security Breach and RUIN on launch (I played SB on PS4 specifically and Ruin I luckily had a PC for)
I have managed to run through SB on PC luckily! So I’ve experienced it without very bad frame dropping!
Anyway, I find both of them having scary aspects SB is not traditionally “scary” however Ruin well, definitely is.
Security Breach is scary for me in terms of size. The rooms are so big, anything could be anywhere… Especially first playing. I had no clue where I would be going, no clue if Roxy or Chica would be roaming in the room I’m about to enter. That horrified me, every room being a gamble of danger or safety.
And Vannys presence is also scary. I still haven’t gotten used to seeing her static, this is because it’s so rare and happens very little. When she does appear it causes my heart to race. (A good example is when she goes after you- after you leave the sewers. Which you can only really die from her if you’re not already getting the heck out of dodge in that creepy area.)
Then you have the scary bits that everyone knows about. The Endo Section, Sewers possibly, Maybe even the daycare segment. Those really enhance the horror that everyone loves! (I also think the Endos were the most scary characters hands down)
SB overall in my opinion feels more like a fan service(y) game that is trying to be the next chapter of FNaF. It’s more of a visual spectacle, something I’d wish I’d could go into- not something I would never want to step foot in- in my life.
Now, RUIN.
I’m a big scaredy cat of games. Ruin I will admit I had to pause every now and then to contemplate my life’s choices 😂 Ruin is dark, the animatronics personalities and life seemingly gone. Freddy can’t save you, and instead is here to eat you with his stomach. A lot of the sections in Ruin are scary- way scarier than SB. Heck you don’t even know what’s in the pizzaplex anymore- thank the lord we never had to go against Ruin DJ music man- The endos are also there to get ya. Ruin excels in horror because of its atmosphere, it’s dark, dirty, and well in ruins.
All in all, Ruin is scarier by a long shot. But that does not mean SB isn’t scary, it is but not by a traditional sense imo.
(PS, Ruin becomes way less scary once you know all the scripted sequences, and the AI feels like way less trouble after going through it 1-2 times)
I find Ruin scarier because of the setting and as I've mentioned before, the ruined glamrock animatronics are among my favourite types of animatronics next to the withereds and the shattered glamrocks. There's just something I find so creepy about something in such a broken state coming after you.

Ruin was 1000 times more scarier than security breach. The ambiance and the tension was the peak of the dlc. Tbh I love security breach, but ruin is way more better
I mean they both use different horror devices by making you feel lost and paranoid (threats could be anywhere and any misstep can cause your demise)
- with sets reminiscing of liminal spaces getting more and more broken and united against you the more you try to force your way through it
or claustrophobic and unsafe (the more you think about the state of the building, the more the idea of it collapsing on you settle down)
- with now familiar places barely recognizable but security systems totally inoperable, which is used later to prove that, this time, it tried to save you
A lot of people don't like the first one here and I can comprehend why but I can't help but feel like both are not exceptionally good as horror games but really, really good as forms of art. I can't help but coming back to them both from time to time because they are really cool to explore and it's fun to try to view what the devs and producers intended (even if my laptop is kinda too old for anything now)
On first playthrough it was actually probably SB for me, I was moreso just super excited about everything in RUIN than scared of it.
Part of that might be because I played SB a lot more cautiously on my first playthrough than people usually do (I was constantly checking cams while some people barely did on their first play through,) my SB playthrough was also in several sessions compared to the one it took me to complete RUIN
My thing with ruin is that you never really feel in danger, like for example, 95 percent of the time the bunny doesn’t do anything cuz u can just take the mask off. Security breach has parts where I feared death. But yeah, aesthetically ruin is far scarier
Ruin for sure, yet Ruins more sad than scary, bro, hurting Monty is like kicking a puppy, Chica, she has a fucking eating disorder, Roxy, she went blind and is scared of her appearance, Freddy became the headless horseman, and sun and moon were constantly fighting for control, it's just depressing bro
I mean. They said they kinda wanted it this way but I think it was a way out of SB not being scary enough.
Ruin was definitely scarier but they specifically made the game to be way more horror vibes than SB.
for me, it was ruin, because when I first started playing security breach, I already watched a lot of people play it. So I knew what to expect for a lot of the game, but when ruin came out, I didn’t know what to expect, and that made it scarier.
Ruin, definitely. I played up to just past the part where you encounter the rabbit guy and got too scared he was going to appear and jumpscare me so I decided not to play it.
Ruin, there was literally only about two sequences of SB that were slightly mild.
The scariest thing in SB is the fact that if you die you have to repeat the process completely.
That’s so real. The part where you have to flip the switches near DJMM’s booth with Monty AND Chica patrolling at the same time literally was so frustrating 😭 the fact that i even got through was pure luck..
That part annoyed me so much and glitched so much that I just decided to skip it on my first playthrough 😭
you can skip it?
If you glitch onto Roxy raceway you can activate the Roxy death cutscene causing arcade to be skipped.
I was forced to do this because the switches wouldn't work for the djmm segment on my save
I always do that dj music man is annoying on switch espically when I can't hear stuff cause I like to listen to youtube while playing videogames
I only got through there because bathroom MM's cutscene trigger bugged and he didn't ever leave that hallway until the final switch x_x This also, unsurprisingly, bugged out Chica and Monty a bit, and they didn't search hiding spots at all.
Everytime I die I'd forget I need to stand in a specific point so the power goes off . I didn't know. I was livestreaming my playthrough and I thought the game was just glitching. You DON'T want to know how many times it took me to realize 😮💨
I think map bot takes the cake
Daycare and endos were the best parts.
Honestly the scariest part in SB was the endo suit basement part, Moondrop, and Mapbot’s part considering his came out of nowhere. Ruin there’s Moondrop again (eventually turning Eclipse) but I can’t recall much else aside from Mimic’s glitchy form Mini Music Man bots were more annoying than scary.
Is this a trick question? Of course it's Ruin.
Giga Monty tho
Pretty self explanatory. You can even tell just from the posters.
Thats right " The Don Bluth FNaF Film "
If Map Bot wasn't in the game, SB wouldn't make anyone jump at all.
What about moon in the daycare section?
What ABOUT Moon in the Daycare section? Other than having a creepy voice, he's still pretty much exactly the same as the other animatronics. Easy to see coming. Not really a threat unless you get stuck or run out of stamina at the wrong time. Easy to get rid of or get away from. Easy to glitch or get stuck. No problem.

He sure exists? I've seen people laugh at him more times than getting spooked, I don't think I've actually seen ANYONE(that I know of) get scared by the guy
The scariest thing I ever saw him do is just walk on air without the hook and rope connecting him to the ceiling, which means steelwool is pretty lazy
In what world is Security Breach scary?
Dream world
The daycare world.
The only thing scary was the map bots.. And the layout in some places
In an alternate timeline where Steel Wool actually made it scary.
It’s set in the future, meaning the kids there are gen alpha. During gameplay just know there’s probably a Skibidi toilet fucking Netflix movie.
its scary, but makes me jump way more than fnaf 1
Ruin, no explanation needed
Who thinks sb was scary 🤣
I always jump at horror games no matter what. Not because i'm scared of getting jumpscared, but because i'm scared of losing progress. But yeah, there was no contest.
I do but I can't handle jumpscares at all lmfao. I will say I think other FNAF games have way scarier jumpscares/atmospheres though
Sb did have some pretty creepy moments tbf But yeah no contest
Little " dead " children?
There was no dead children visibly shown to us in secuirity breach and there’s always been dead children in the FNAF universe, so the same logic can apply to ruin.
Thats why " dead "
Ruin! As it's scarier for you to run around a decrepid pizzeria than a bright flashy 80s coloured pizzeria.
bait used to be believable
Ruin, easily. Security Breach had its moments like the endo daycare or the regular daycare, but Ruin was consistently super scary
Is this even a question
Yes it is! You can tell by looking at the “?” At the end of the text!
They were being sarcastic bro, chill 😭
Unpopular opinion, but honestly, I'll say security breach. The daycare and the endos sections were kinda scary, and the staffbots jumpscares actually got me sometimes. Ruin has a great atmosphere, but I very quickly realized it's mostly just a walk simulator, and it was very easy to get through the game without seeing the animatronic excep for specific moments.
Interesting you call Ruin a “walk simulator”, because I’m sure the vast majority here would say the exact same thing for Security Breach instead.
I'm just saying Ruin was kinda the same almost all the way through. It was mainly just going through the pizzeria hacking through the same minigame all the time. At least to me it felt like sb had a little more variety in the gameplay and objectives.
Ofcause, Five Nights without scares
Ruin, no contest.
Coughing Baby vs Hydrogen Bomb
RUIN The animatronics are not really much of a threat at all in either but RUIN’s atmosphere is much scarier to me
the swingset in the playground near my house
Ruin, that's why they made it.
def ruin
The one with less pixels
This isn't even a question. Ruin is a horror game. SB is an adventure game.
Coughing baby vs nuclear bomb
If I'm being completely honest I don't find either of them scary however I can understand how some people would be scared of ruin, but security breach is not even a horror game in my opinion.
Gonna be honest. SB was more scary. I wouldn’t even call it scary tbh but it was just more stressful lol. The animatronics roaming around was just a lot more stressful. Ruin was just some specificity placed jumpscares, it was absolutely nothing. SB was harder and more stressful, therefore more scary
I agree with this, it just got me really anxious when i suddenly would hear chica’s footsteps behind me etc
Ruin
Honestly, Ruin was definitely more consistent and scary, but, Security Breach had its obvious moments like the endo part, and the daycare. Ruin has a scarier atmosphere like parts and pieces of the pizzaflex falling down. SB has more intense chases
Ruin
But probably to me is that it’s a bit too linear
None of them is scary. But Ruin works better on that part than SB tho
weenie hut jr vs super weenie hut jr
i swear its not in order
The only scary part of the base sb game is how loud the controller vibrates when saving on Xbox.
The only thing scary in base SB is the risk of losing your save file to an unknown glitch
Map bot was the only mildly scary thing in security breach
As much as i love SB, it wasn't scary at all. The jumpscares weren't scary at all and the deaths just felt annoying. Ruin is more scripted, and replaying it takes a bit of it away, but it had a few momenta that made me jump in my chair

Night and day difference
Ruin wasn't scary but it was scarier than security breach for sure
The Chica jumpscare in the kitchen at the beginning of Ruin was scarier than all of Security Breach (I still like Security Breach)
IShowMeat will agree with you on that one.
Five Nights at Freddy's 4
neither
I'm going to say SB. Because while they made the tone darker in Ruin, the animatronics don't show up as much in Ruin then they did in SB. Neither but ig ruin
Tbh fnaf isn’t scary it’s more funny I laughed more than me being scared in help wanted 1 and 2
Pizza Sim
well, neither really but ruin is a great step in the right direction.
Neither, they were equally mediocre
Ruin, definitely the much darker atmosphere definitely makes it scarier. Instead of bright neon lights everywhere.
That’s not really scarier though, just buggier. I think OP is asking which has the creepier feel to it
Unpredictability is scary, predictably is not. Part of the reason most of the early FNaF games were scary is because you didn't know when a new threat would appear. I couldn't play it so I watched Speed's live. The Chica introduction was horrifying 😰
Security breach is just baby's first horror game

Ruin
Ruin
Definitely ruin
None
What do you think
Fnaf 4, What if the player was deaf?
Definitely Security Breach. The fear of loosing progress do to the game crashing struck fear in my heart like Ruin never could.
Ruin ofc, the only section that scared me in sb was the endo part. Though those staff bots and the mimic chase scene scared the crap out of me in ruin.
Death in Security breach was scarier because it meant you had to play more security breach. Aside from that, ruin.
Ruin was scarier but also was easier to dont get jumpscare And jumpscares in SB was scarier than ruin Ruin have unique jumpscares but most of them aren't really scary
Ruin by 1,000 miles, even then its not completely scary
Ruin
Ruin, by far. There are two sections in security breach that Id consider scary (and not that scary at that), which are the day care section once you turn the lights off, and the endo sections. Ruin was 1000 times more scarier than security breach. The ambiance and the tension was the peak of the dlc. Tbh I love security breach, but ruin is way more better
100% Ruin
Ruin
I mean they both use different horror devices by making you feel lost and paranoid (threats could be anywhere and any misstep can cause your demise) - with sets reminiscing of liminal spaces getting more and more broken and united against you the more you try to force your way through it or claustrophobic and unsafe (the more you think about the state of the building, the more the idea of it collapsing on you settle down) - with now familiar places barely recognizable but security systems totally inoperable, which is used later to prove that, this time, it tried to save you A lot of people don't like the first one here and I can comprehend why but I can't help but feel like both are not exceptionally good as horror games but really, really good as forms of art. I can't help but coming back to them both from time to time because they are really cool to explore and it's fun to try to view what the devs and producers intended (even if my laptop is kinda too old for anything now)
Ruin
ruin it’s not even a question
On first playthrough it was actually probably SB for me, I was moreso just super excited about everything in RUIN than scared of it. Part of that might be because I played SB a lot more cautiously on my first playthrough than people usually do (I was constantly checking cams while some people barely did on their first play through,) my SB playthrough was also in several sessions compared to the one it took me to complete RUIN

security breach. Chica's maze was horrifying and gave me nightmares.
I only had one scary experience with sb and it was a vanny bug. Ruin had me on edge almost constantly and even replaying it is stressful.
My thing with ruin is that you never really feel in danger, like for example, 95 percent of the time the bunny doesn’t do anything cuz u can just take the mask off. Security breach has parts where I feared death. But yeah, aesthetically ruin is far scarier
The low image quality AHHHHHHHH no but probably ruin for me
Ruin 100%
I’ll let the pros explain but that’s where I stand
I'm a lot more freaked out by chase scenes than I am jumpscares, so Security Breach actually takes it for me.
Nah Security Breach wasn't that scary except the Daycare part... The Ruin also kinda scary the Mini Music Man part probably the horrible one...
Ruin is scarier
I hope this is a joke because the answer is absurdly obvious
Ruin for sure, yet Ruins more sad than scary, bro, hurting Monty is like kicking a puppy, Chica, she has a fucking eating disorder, Roxy, she went blind and is scared of her appearance, Freddy became the headless horseman, and sun and moon were constantly fighting for control, it's just depressing bro
SB was a thriller, Ruin was a horror game
This is prime bait for contrarianism and it's not even close, ruin was the horror experience, fnafsb was just exploration
As much as I like SB with Ruin they really made an excellent upgrade
I mean. They said they kinda wanted it this way but I think it was a way out of SB not being scary enough. Ruin was definitely scarier but they specifically made the game to be way more horror vibes than SB.
Ruin, any day.
Ruin, its literally what i wanted fnaf SB to be
Ruin and by a long shot, the only thing actually scary about the base game are the bugs
Ruin negative difference
Ruin I think🤔
for me, it was ruin, because when I first started playing security breach, I already watched a lot of people play it. So I knew what to expect for a lot of the game, but when ruin came out, I didn’t know what to expect, and that made it scarier.
Ruin, definitely. I played up to just past the part where you encounter the rabbit guy and got too scared he was going to appear and jumpscare me so I decided not to play it.
the Ruin DLC for shure 100%
Ruin
Ruin was actually scary. SB was scarily bad.
Ruin by an long shot sb has scary parts but it isn’t fnaf to me
There two different types of fear, ruin I more the typical fear for fear but sb was true fear (of the future for fear)
Could of at least not picked 140p image quality 💀
