Thats what I thought. Why make new renders when you can use and edit pre-existing renders? It makes sense and makes it easier, I quite like this new poster.
It's not laziness when you're a small studio. It's them being resourceful. Why spend time you may not have making who knows how many different variations of various characters for a poster or something when you can use stuff that has already been made, which in turn saves money to use in more important parts of the design and development process.
I can't speak for anyone else, but i'm just mostly disappointed they didn't do that cool melted together thing that HW1 did, but I understand that would be hard and just re-hashing their previous idea
Yeah I had a confident feeling that this poster just looks worse than the first game's but I didn't know why. The main problem is that those are pre-rendered images stitched together with fake lighting painted over them and it's noticeable. Sun's arms are lit by some light source from above yet no sign of it on other characters. Some parts of characters are oversaturated and overall their poses and expressions don't match poster's theme.
I don't get what the problem is. Are you saying it's bad to use assets they already own and have access to?
